September first came quicker than Aleksandra had hoped for the summer to last longer besides the struggle of social interactions during summer camp and being around other students. The platinum haired girl seemed to not really care. Her bright platinum hair seemed to shimmer in the candle light of the great hall. Her cold gray eyes held a nonchalant expression void of all expressions. Though to those who did not know Aleksandra would assume the girl was angry about coming back to school in reality she just hated being around others. Socializing was not her forte after all this certain girl enjoyed being the lone wolf type a background character in her own story.

Aleksandra had arrived into the great hall with the other older students this year was different she was a second year no longer a firstie and yet the girl seemed to narrow her eyes her eyebrows scrunching up in frustration she could tell how other students seemed to grow over the summer a few seemed to be the same but yet still taller than her. While Aleksandra sat down with her short frame. The young girl was shorter than most of the second years though she always seemed more mature than most of the students her age. Her heart shaped face held her void of emotion expression as the young girl watched boredly as the set of first years had started to burst through the doors in small waves of children from a mixture of those who were small to average height to others that seemed rather tall for first years. Which made the young second year girl scowl how could first years be tall in the first place? Brushing a strand of platinum blonde hair out of her cold stirling gray eyes, Aleksandra continued to listen boredly to the traditional ceremony.

The ceremony felt like it took ages for Aleksandra after all the girl didn’t seem to care she scanned the table looking for a certain ravennette haired girl or even a certain ‘renown seer’ but alas the young girl could not find them or even the ginger haired girl that everyone seemed to be a tad wary of. Aleksandra sighed in boredom resting her chin atop of the palm of her hand as she continued to listen to the ceremony drone on and on.

As time seemed to sluggishly move by like a slug during a hot summer’s day it seemed as if the ceremony was coming to a close as food appeared in front of the platinum haired girl. The girl glanced around taking in the sweet smell of the variety of food surrounding her. Slowly and as delicate as she could by keeping her elegant appearance the young girl began to make her plate of course. Aleksandra had a reputation to uphold and that was to keep her cold demeanor though she had to admit she was slowly becoming soft and that thought terrified her. Even the thought of ‘friends’ the girl was happy with her companions after all that was what they were companions nothing more nothing less. But yet the young girl felt a hold in her heart she did not necessarily know why nor did she really care. The young second year decided to ignore it to the best of her abilities after all who would care?

A soft airy sigh escaped the young girl's lips as her cold gray eyes seemed to hold a dark storm brewing over the dark ocean waves. Her platinum blonde hair swayed slightly framing her face gently while pulled back in a half up, half down style. Her school robes, though slightly long, seemed to fit her arms the best they could. While the candlelight's that simmered around the great hall illuminating the young girl's hair and frame.

Aleksandra examined her plate in front of her as she seemed to grow lost in thought. She had to admit she had grown a bit during her first year even though her Aunt was beaming how Aleksandra seemed to be more open and less grouchy which the young girl thought was ridiculous of course. But then again maybe this year will be different. Maybe she would decide to leave her background character life and become the main character of her story?

Sonya walked into the Great Hall with the rest of the Second Year Ravenclaws, still reeling. When they had reached the carriages, Sonya had been shocked to see strange creatures that looked like skin-less horses with wings. Her own studies let her identify them as Thestrals, but she was somewhat surprised she could see them.
Of course, then she actually thought about it. She saw her dad die at a very young age, and you can only see Thestrals if you've witnessed death. Sad, but it makes sense.
Sonya sat with the other Ravenclaws and soon, the Sorting Ceremony started, with the Sorting Hat singing another song, just like last year:
" A thousand years or more ago
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of
Whose names are still well known:

Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.

For were their such friends anywhere
As Slytherin and Gryffindor.
Unless it was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

United by a common goal,
They had the selfsame yearning
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.

Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues
In the ones, they had to teach.

While still alive they did divide
Their favorites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When were they dead and gone?

Twas Gryffindor who found the way,
He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!

Now slip me snug about your ears,
I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have a look inside your mind
And tell where you belong!

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've got a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends."

Sonya clapped with the rest of the students, even if she wasn't exactly a fan of singing headwear.
As the Sorting ended, with various new students for Ravenclaw, Sonya looked around as the feast began, before her eyes landed on a fellow second year student sitting by herself at the Slytherin table. She was a somewhat lanky white girl with platinum blond hair in wavelets, a heart shaped face, and greyish blue eyes. The girl looked lonely and unfocused, a look Sonya recognized, seeing it on herself in the mirror often enough.
Sonya thought to herself and, making up her mind, she stood up and walked over to the Slytherin table. She then sat down next to the girl and smirked. "What's up with you? You look like someone killed your bat."

The first day back at school was always busy, with a train to ride and a sorting to watch and carriages pulled by things that they didn't like to think so hard about. That was how Cass liked it- always something to do, and not sitting around quietly required. So far, Hogwarts was behaving and everything was going wonderfully. They walked over to the slytherin table first thing when they reached the great hall, eyes scanning the crowd for familiar faces. A certain blond head stood out, sitting by herself at one of the end of the table.

Well, almost by herself. She had been joined by a... ravenclaw? Who was there for some reason. Perhaps she was colorblind. Oh well, it was to late for her. She was being adopted into slytherin now. Pulling out a chair, they plonked down beside Aleks. "Aleks has a bat?" they asked "Hello new girl. This is the wrong table, but its to late for you. You're a slytherin now". She had just been recruited. They didn't honestly believe that Aleks would have a bat- she didn't seem quite the type somehow. She would probably get some pet that looked really scary but was secretly a fluffball.

They had yet to prove that she was actually secretly a fluffball, but they were getting there. She was probably busy getting crushed under family pressure, her own ambition or some other common Slytherin hobby. Not a lot of the slytherin house members seemed to be very joyful people. Not them though! They were fine. Everything was fine.

The day of return had arrived, the extravagant courtyards of Hogwarts's castle were to be again graced by his Presence for his second year of school. Running a bit late for the ceremony where new Snakes would be chosen, Prat was excited to see the new personalities coming to Hogwarts. New additions meant more younglings to prank and further additions to the duelling team. Maybe he'll find himself a protégé. Maybe An Year One from another house to teach his ways and stay out of trouble while starting some, he had a little bias for Gryffindorks and Hechlepech in general at this point.

If he was going to be late, he might as well arrive with flair and style. Walking into the hall Prat took out his wand, casting Orchideus as he conjured himself some flowers, using them to drop petals along the way as he walked towards the snake table. Sure it could be a bit distracting to most, but eh you don't get to be on the first day of school everyday.

Arriving at his house table Prat saw Aleksandra, the almost "Offwhite looking Borderline Inhuman Pretty one", with how pale she was she could pass off as a Vampire and Cass, the little friend with a shit eating grin whenever they were making trouble already there. Much amusing was the appearance of another one, An Unfamiliar second year, that too a ravenclaw finding her way to Aleks.

Casting Avifors and turning the liquid in one of glasses into birds Prat took the seat beside Aleks, greeting both her and Cass with a "Hey!" and asked, "A little lost are we?" to the raven who had perhaps decided her house was not entertaining enough for the night. Prat wished he could come out rolling on the wooden statue he wished but decided against it thinking it'd ruin the ceremony for other students as their first experience of Hogwarts.

•☽༻¨:·. ──── ₊☽◯☾₊ ──── .·:¨༺☾•

The night sky seemed to shimmer in the Great Hall with the enchanted candles floating above making the Great Hall seem even more magical especially to the first years that have just begun there new found journey at this magical school while to the older students seemed to be just as magical before they have left from their summer vacation arriving for a new year of adventure and fun filled shenanigans for some.

As the sorting ceremony seemed to have finished, the Great Hall was filled with many entree’s of various foods. Aleksandra was relaxed where she sat though the young platinum haired girl seemed void of emotion she preferred the peace that had enveloped her. Aleksandra had to admit she dreaded being back at Hogwarts; she rather be home away from the student population away from people in general. She honestly wanted to disappear in the background and get through the next five years quickly as possible.

As the young girl stayed to herself eating a fried tomato she heard shuffling beside her, feeling the bench that she was sitting upon move slightly before a voice seemed to break her out of her thoughts. Growing annoyed Aleksandra glanced beside her staring at the corporate a young girl around her age maybe Aleksandra was not sure nor did she really care. The young girl's hair seemed to have multiple shades of color that she felt her eyes twitch in annoyance. The girl's eyes looked different but Aleksandra could care less.

What threw Aleksandra off was the girl was wearing a Ravenclaw uniform which made the girl stand out more at the Slytherin table that was flooded green. Noting the girl seemed to smirk at the platinum haired girl as she spoke up towards Aleksandra.

Was this girl serious? Aleksandra thought to herself if owned a bat she would make sure that it would come after this girl and terrorize her if it was humanly plausible but at the same time she would not wish that upon a cute sweet animal like a bat. Aleksandra was just annoyed she knew her face always seemed to be in a foul mood not only that she knew she was cold to others and her face always showed it with how her gray eyes seemed like a dark stormy night during a summer evening with little traces of blue in her irises. The girl's platinum hair being almost a whitish blonde color did not help the girls appearance with her fair pale skin she seemed like the type that could get lost in the cold wintery landscape yet the cold never seemed to bother her just annoy her to know end like the students and professors that attended this dreaded school.

Aleksandra gave the RavenClaw a look void of emotion; her gray eyes seemed dull and bored while her lips were turned slightly downward in a scowl. This girl obviously had no idea who Aleksandra was, but of course the girl knew she was not entirely popular; many of the students she associates with are mainly Slytherins, a few from the other houses but not many. Not that she really cared about making friends. Friends would hold her back and end up stabbing her in the back. The girl knew this was why she chose this lonely path in life.

“If I had owned a bat I am sure you would know after all it would have already made its presence known they do love feasting on insects you know.”

Aleksandra spoke nonchalantly in her feathery Scottish accent as the young girl took a bite out of her roasted tomatoes and the young girl turned her attention forward. Was the girl cold? Yes, very much so. Did Aleksandra care? No she did not. If one can not handle the truth and how the world is not all sunshine and smiles then they have no idea what life is like and how it can inflict oneself.

Aleksandra continued to eat until a familiar voice seemed to break the quiet she was so desperately trying to have. Glancing on the other side the platinum hair girl could see the infamous Cass sitting beside her. A sigh escaped Aleksandra’s lips eyeing the other second year Slytherin. As if being the clueless idiot they seemed to always act like they spoke up making the young girl’s eyebrow twitch in annoyance. There was no way possible Cass was that much of an idiot? As Cass seemed to speak like they were excited declaring the RavenClaw girl as a Slytherin Aleksandra took another bite of her roasted tomato before eying Cass with a scowl.

“If I owned a bat you would be mistaken for an insect Cass. Also clearly this girl is not a Slytherin. If you end up keeping them, where will they sleep? They are not a pet you know you can not just claim a human to be a part of our house.”

Aleksandra spoke in her feathery tone, her soft Scottish accent lingered among the students around her. She really had no idea what she was getting herself into but she could feel that this RavenClaw either truly wanted to be kind or had some motive to approach Aleksandra.

The platinum haired girl knew Cass was not the brightest which made the girl decide to watch both Cass and the stranger. If things turned south and Cass were to be put into a dangerous position Aleksandra will put her foot down to prove her place. But then again maybe this girl was just bored and wanted to make ‘friends’ which would suck for her sense Aleksandra was not the type to make friends. The girl enjoyed her solitude and what she could do on her own after all she was a background character in her own story.

As life seemed to be going smoothly besides the annoyance around her already, the Great Hall doors seemed to burst open as a young second year strutted through casting a spell as flower petals seemed to dance around him as he moved with grace. Aleksandra deadpanned her left eyebrow twitched in annoyance while her right eye twitched as if a nerve was being pinched.

It was the first day of school of course you would assume that the students of Hogwarts would be a tad more normal and less chaotic but of course the girl had forgotten this was just that Hogwarts the school where children get stabbed, drowned and many other sorts of insane disasters. What made matters worse was the girl's tea turned into birds making her eyebrow twitch more. Gritting her teeth she went to go fill up her cup of tea once more before feeling the seat beside her once again being occupied by the boisterous Second year.

Aleksandra grabbed the handle of the teacup bringing it to her lips ignoring the presence of the newcomer or should you say latecomer. What was this child doing anyway? Aleksandra thought to herself quietly as her icy wintery gray eyes were closed as she took in a sip of her herbal beverage taking in the scent of the herbal tea with the soft light scent of honey.

The platinum haired girl could hear the boy speak mentioning to the RavenClaw girl that they may have been lost which Aleksandra could not help but agree but maybe the girl was just curious that or she was here to stir the pot which the young Slytherin girl had no idea but she was curious and ready for anything these three had. A RavenClaw and two annoying snakes what could possibly go wrong for Aleksandra?

Sonya laughed at the girl's remark. "If I had a Knut for every time I've been called an insect, I'd have... two Knuts. Which isn't much, but it's weird it happened twice."
A second after that, Sonya heard another person say, "Aleks has a bat?" She then saw a skinny person with olive-like skin, green eyes, and dark brown hair, as they sat next to the girl, whom Sonya now knew as Aleks. Sonya did a slight double-take as the girl added, "Hello new girl. This is the wrong table, but its to late for you. You're a slytherin now"
Before Sonya could say anything, Aleks said, “If I owned a bat you would be mistaken for an insect Cass. Also, clearly this girl is not a Slytherin. If you end up keeping them, where will they sleep? They are not a pet, you know, you can not just claim a human to be a part of our house.
Sonya shrugged. "I mean, you can! It's just most likely not allowed... or legal." Sonya examined this new person, Cass, closely, wondering how such an obviously upbeat person was in Slytherin of all houses. It completely shocked her, having met plenty of sour Slytherins in her first year.
A few seconds later, a tall, black-haired Slytherin student walked over and said hey to Aleks and Cass before facing Sonya and saying "A little lost, are we?"
Sonya chuckled. "Nope. The Ravenclaw table is just boring tonight, and as much as I love flexing my intellect, there's only so many times one can discuss the strange stuff from the Daily Prophet recently or go on about a love of homework. Slytherin doesn't have any of that, as far I'm aware." Sonya sat up a bit more. "Beats listening to nerds for 2 hours, anyway, and if I'm calling someone a nerd, it's gone too far."

Cass privately thought that Prat was kind of awesome. Though they couldn't see the point of the flowers he had conjured, it certainly added a certain... fizzaz to the situation. It was completely unnecessary, and the water he turned into a bird only added to the unessacaryness. Now there was a bird in the great hall. They weren't really sure if it was really a bird, or water in a new form (they really should have payed more attention in transfiguration) but they wondered if it would poop like one. That wouldn't be something nice to have happen to you while you were eating. The bird would have to wait though, because Aleks was being broody and rude towards their new adopted Slytherin.

If the birdsnake wanted to stick around here, she would soon have to learn that Aleks didn't mean all the rude things that she sometimes said (this probably wasn't true. but if there was one thing Cass was good at, it was ignoring things). "Aleks, be nice. I'm sure we can smuggle her into the common room somehow" they said "And she could stay in your room! Wouldn't that be lovely?". Aleks probably would disagree with them there. Apparently people liked to refer to the raven as a insect. Cass sort of saw it. Maybe some kind of beetle? Some of them had really pretty shiny multi-coloured shells, just like her hair.

"When have laws ever stopped me?" they said in response. To be completely honest, they had never broken any laws before. Plenty of school rules yes, but no laws. Probably. They could agree with how boring the Ravenclaw table was though. Their eyes picked up some people reading over there, apparently of their own free wills. Someone needed to pick them all up and shake the fun back into them with force. How did they focus for that long? Why did they want to focus for that long?

Turning that cup of Alek's drink into a bird and then the extra spark with flowers only added to Prat's "fashionably late charm" as he would put it. These ceremonies while important for the first years were not much of a spectacle otherwise. Sure Prat might act not bored for a few minutes, maybe even scout some people from snakes who would be fit to try out for the duelling team. However, all these things could happen at a later date too.

Prat was simply here to eat the delicious food that was prepared, while the food prepared in large batches by the elves was not as good as those delicacies found at his family home, they came close to Prat's liking. Atleast enough to not make him ever wish to skip dinner.

Sitting beside Aleks after he had given his little note on being lost to the ravenclaw girl. Prat decided to indulge himself in the food instead of trying to catchup with the conversation. Yet he wasn't willing to be left out of the conversation either. Joining in to Cass's suggestion of smuggling her in, he added "We should totally sneak her in, could even hide her in the girl's dorm and then make bets on how long she'll survive before getting thrown out"He suggested it partly due to the fun experience and partly just to see Alek's annoyed reaction once more.

Prat was always ready to bet on the expense of some galleons. At the very least it would make a fun time for him at the cost of a couple galleons while if his bet won, he'd a few coins richer and have the bragging rights. All in all a win-win situation for the Young snake who was just seeking some entertainment for the night.

What he could agree with however was how boring the Ravenclown table was, they were the stereotype nerds and while Prat did not fall so below to judge on stereotypes. The few ravens he knew fit the bill that would remove any doubt. Still he wondered if there was atleast a few ravens that were different from the mold. Some rather chaotic ones who would be up to mischief with him or maybe join his club among his year.

Sonya laughed at the conversation unfolding around her. "I'll tell you what. If you can somehow manage that, I'll pay you both 20 galleons a piece. I'd just get in on the bet, but that wouldn't be fair... for you guys."
As she began to twirl a random fork in her hand, she continued. "Now, I'm the last person in this castle who can boast about magical skill, but I did have a very... unconventional, upbringing. Let's just say my aunt liked teaching me unusual things that no one else here had to learn. Given her lessons on stealth, manipulation, lying, and other skills among that vain, I'd give myself... a week. Maybe 2 if I push it."
As she said all of that, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a spare piece of paper and a pencil (Pays to be prepared) and started to write down notes and the like to support what she said, hoping the math she did on the side wasn't off.
Sonya then added, "And before you ask, yes, my aunt was a Slytherin. And a damn good one at that, or so she says constantly every day. Apparently, she was actually sad to hear I wasn't sorted into Slytherin."
