Vera's little desk among the shelves was fairly ordinary as far as study desks tended to go in these parts, at least according to her observations over the past couple of days - piled high with books and random stationary, several knickknacks sprinkled in between, and the occasional splotch of ink from a quill-writing accident. Teachers generally insisted on them using quills and Vera was not out to make enemies within the first month, even though the contraptions were doing her head in.
Her book pile consisted mainly of tomes on Charms (as evidenced by the several scrapped sheets of homework parchment lying around all blotted up from her quill) but at the bottom of it was a book on Metamorphomagi. She needed one of the elves' help to find that one, but it was for her own research, so it had to wait until after homework.
Right now Vera’s interest was on a torn-up paper figure lying in the middle of her desk. She’d been trying to get the Mending Charm to work on that thing for at least an hour now to no avail. Vera ran her hand through her hair. She saw people do this on their first try! She did it in class herself, so why wasn't it working now.
Okay, focus. Wand movement. Enunciate!
“Just work, you piece of trash,” she grumbled towards the figure.
She felt incredibly silly making the overexaggerated shape of the necessary G, her wand a tad too long for comfort too.
“Reparo!”
It came out perhaps a bit too loud, but it didn't help the paper figure snap back together in front of her eyes.
"Oh, c'mon!" she whisper-yelled at the offending paper pieces.

WC: 424Elias was many things: loud, friendly, energetic... anything but organized.
It was quite easy to see, as he dragged a pile of books, notes and other random materials in his arms running through the library, quick and somehow quite silent, with only the noise of his feet and the things roaming around his bag to signal his presence. Every here and there he was losing some pieces of paper, but unfortunately he had both his arms stuffed with books - those pages were lost forever. His hazel eyes rapidly scanned the desks looking for a free one to at least try to study something: there was one free just a few steps away, unfortunately for the girl who was studying and practicing Charms next to it.
Elias dropped the whole pile on the desk causing a huge noise and consequent “Oops” from him with a small laugh in his voice. He then ran away to catch all the pages he had dropped during the walk and returned to his desk leaving also the brown bag that he had with him. “Wow, that sure was a huge pile of books!” he commented while taking a seat and trying to order the books and the notes on his desk, making them look even more chaotic and messy.
Somehow after some arrangement he opened the first book and started reading a few lines, and for the first seconds it might have really looked like a regular Ravenclaw student studying for the upcoming Charms class.
But Elias wasn’t a regular Ravenclaw student, and right after settling in his attention was already drifting away... right on the other girl’s desk. First he looked at what she was doing.
“What are you trying to do?” he asked way too cheerfully, dropping the book on his desk causing another big noise and getting closer to her desk to see better. “I’m not really good at it! But I always try my best!” he added, showing a big smile too.
Then his attention shifted again to the pile of books she had on her desk, and looking through all the Charms books he asked “What are all those books for?” instead of minding his own business. Finally he reached the last one, right at the bottom of the pile. “Hm? Metamorphmagi? Oh, that’s me! I mean, I guess... that’s what Papi said.” he pointed at the book and started rambling words as his usual, now with a heavier Spanish accent, not even asking for the girl’s name, or even letting her say something.

The proverbial bull in the china shop who decided to camp it out next to her made her feel slightly better about her outburst. Just slightly, though.
She let out a deep sigh and a slight grunt, leaning her head almost all the way back and staring at the paneled ceiling. Her mum would've called her out on this whole 'theatre performance' over homework, but frankly, Vera got the dramatics from her dad, so her mum was barking up the wrong tree with that one.
The boy next to her made a couple comments and some more disturbingly loud sounds. She didn't look over, just closed her eyes with her head still leaning back. He audibly had his own pile of books, he could keep himself entertained.
"What are you trying to do?"
Or not.
She heard a book drop and some shuffling from his side. Her eyebrows scrunched up like when either of her brother would barge into her room to bother her. What is it with boys always needing attention?
Vera sighed again before pulling her head back up and looked at the torn up paper figure as if she wanted to set it on fire. She rubbed her forehead.
"Trying to get Reparo to work."
Without looking at the other boy, she turned to one of the books she had open, studying the appropriate wand movement that was drawn there.
"It's for Charms homework," came the absent-minded reply to his other question. She focused on the description of the movement so hard she almost missed the entire other thing he said afterwards. Until one word stood out.
"...Metamorphomagi?..."
That stopped Vera in her tracks.
"Huh?" she let out as her eyes flitted between her pile of books and the boy.

WC: 367The other girl was clearly not happy to have Elias next to her, but apparently he didn’t notice that. All he could see then was someone to talk to and study from, someone who clearly was better organized and prepared than him. And if she tried to make as little noise as possible, sighing at all the noise he was making but still not pushing him away, not directly at least.
“Reparo?” he asked back, trying to spy on her notes and the pages of her books, then he placed his gaze on the paper figure and took his wand in his hands. “Oh, I know everything about Reparo!” he stated quite pridefully, pointing the wand to the figure. Unfortunately, that was a big lie, as he mumbled “Uhm, I guess.” trying to sneak a peek at the pages of the book to see at least the movement he had to make.
After a few seconds of mumbling and fake attempts, he turned to the other girl and with a bright smile he said “But we can try together! Two minds are better than one, right?” looking at her quite hopefully. And he truly hoped she was going to help him study something, since from the moment he walked in the library he hadn’t read a single page of his books.
“I was about to study the same on my notes, but apparently I didn’t take much notes, and now I have no idea what to do! Can I look at your notes? Just for inspiration, I’m not copying them!” he added trying to sneak another peek, this time way less stealthy, almost obvious in his movements with the bust what he was trying to do.
The sudden interest of the girl in Elias’ words made him stop for a second and ask back “Huh?” not really sure what was the word that made her interested in his discourses. He was babbling so many words that it was impossible to stop right after the first “huh”, so he repeated “What?” tilting slightly his head, then proceeded with whatever thing he had in mind.
“Anyway, we should definitely revise the formula first!” he continued as nothing had happened.

The boy's initial confidence gave her some hope that maybe they'd be able to make this work, but as the seconds ticked away, her optimism started dissipating.
"More heads know more," she let out under her breath. "I don't know how much it's going to help you but- Here you go." She flipped through couple pages of her notebook, finally turning it to him. The page was a mess of scraggly handwriting, ink splotches, small drawings here and there, questions scribbled into the margins... But in the middle sat the bulk of her notes with bullet points, and the inctantation and wand movement drawn out. Altogether it looked less organised than it sounded, like a seagull stepped into an ink puddle and took several winding strolls over the pages.
She raised her wand again and started tracing the proper movement in the air again, moving from the exaggerated gesture from earlier to something smaller. Whoever thought that giving this long a wand to barely a teenager was a good idea.
There was a scrunch between her eyebrows the entire time. She was almost going to ignore the boy's confusion earlier, but curiosity got the better of her.
"You said you're a metamorphomagus?" she asked. Her voice came out very quiet, almost shy. Vera internally winced at herself.
She cleared her throat.
"The formula is Reparo."
If she could gloss over it really quickly, maybe he wouldn't notice that she even asked.
Vera nodded towards the notebook on the desk. "There. The second syllable is supposed to be louder."

WC: 390Even if he was well aware that he wasn’t very prepared for that Charms spell in particular, Elias still wanted to study with the other girl, and more than studying he wanted to chat some more and potentially gain a new friend.
His attention was already fading away from the actual lesson and shifting towards the girl flipping through her notebook to let him take a look at her notes, and of course his main focus was on the doodles and writings that she scribbled on the margins of the pages more than the actual content of the pages. “Huh, so cute. I also doodle a lot during the classes, I get bored sooo easily!” he started chatting again as if they didn’t have homeworks to do, and added “Especially during History of Magic, pft. I cannot stay still and I just have to do something else, you know?” almost as if he wanted to connect with her through that experience.
Luckily for both of them the other girl had more self control than Elias and moved to practice wand movements while he was supposedly revising the formula and the theory part. “Is that the right movement?” he asked, pointing at the girl’s wand, giving her almost no time to practice in silence without his loud voice always in the way.
He nodded firmly when she asked him if he was a Metamorphmagus. For him it wasn’t a secret, and was actually quite proud of it despite being a disaster in controlling those spontaneous transformations. “I am, yes! Why do you have that book?” he asked curious, no signs of judgment of any sort in his words. Apparently, he was just really curious to understand why she had a book about him. Or better, about his unique ability.
“Reparo, yes... now I remember!” he rapidly shifted back onto the original topic, the formula he was trying to revise before attempting anything. He raised an eyebrow when she reminded him of the pronunciation of the formula, and immediately mumbled “Hm? Like...” getting ready to try and say it with little to no accent.
“re-PA-ro?” he guessed, unfortunately keeping the heavier Spanish accent he naturally had, but trying to put more emphasis on the second syllable. “Reparo! Okay! Now what?” he asked, almost as if it was all a game to him.
