Camp, 2024 Summer Duels: Match 1

Unfortunately, Axel's focus was not enough to produce a spell that would be impossible to avoid. He criticized himself silently as his opponent dodged. Then, she flung a spell at him, and he was able to evade, so now he and this girl were back where they started, unharmed, eager to get a hit in. Would they be successful this next time?

Anything, but anything is better than feeling good like this after a good spell, that have unsettled my opponent. And I even feel great! I'm in great shape and I'm ready to move on. It's all well and good to set fire but what can destabilize even more than fire? Well. many things...

Luck would unfortunately not be on Irina's side. Casting the spell itself hadn't been the issue previously, nor would it be this time as the Koldovstoretz student opted for the same force and direct attack of a Flipendo. While the wand remained trained towards Agnès, it seemed her attention was on her friend as the spell burst forth before spiraling back to Mahoustoretz's side of the piste. Thankfully Olya would have no trouble dodging it despite the surprising origin as she began the search for her own opportunity.

Olya would keep to the same target, changing up the spell in the hopes that she might remember it better. And she did, silver light exploding with a surprising power as it found Axel, spiralling towards him across the block. Preoccupied with a spell of his own, he wouldn't see the attack in time to escape the fits of laughter that didn't seem to stop. Rictusempra could be powerful when it wanted-

Agnès, noticing Seraphina's inattentiveness, would try using that information to her advantage as her wand trained on the other student. She seemed hopeful for a show with Tarantallegra, yet wouldn't find one as the spell skittered in a different direction. Perhaps it was Irina's spell that had startled them or something else, but Seraphina would keep out of trouble for now.

Axel would trade strike for strike- and laughter for sneezing. Arguably both annoying inconveniences, the spell casting and aim was a little shaky with the sudden hit and shocking burst of pain from the tickling, yet Olya wouldn't suspect as thing as eyes would glance up only in time to get hit. Laughter could be heard from the Beauxstrang side while Mahoustoretz would probably need some tissues after this. The blows had been relatively even though and with plenty of time still in the match, Lea was curious if one would be able to secure the upper hand.

His spell had found its target. Finally. That was a joyous moment for Axel, but it ended quickly as he was nailed with a spell from that same target. It hurt at first, but then the pain dispersed into uncontrollable fits of laughter as if someone was tickling his sides. How outrageous was this? He would have to try to gain his composure if he was going to stand a chance of helping his team win.

Our team is sooo good ! I'm top shape, I think axel to ! But the problem is actually ruby, my classmate... She is litteraly doing nothing ! No no no no, don't concentrate on others Agnès, this is our time to shine, my time to bright ! I only need to do that spell and we will win, it's simple, nah ?

This was one of Irina’s oddest duels ever. For some reason, something went wrong this time too. Not with the spell, but with her accuracy. And Iriliya was NOT having it. This time, her spell sort of redirected. Instead of flying towards Agnés, her spell almost hit Olya. Thankfully, she danced out of its way, only to be hit with the sneezing spell. Awesome. But she hit Axel with a Rictusempra. So, fair deal. Thirds time’s the charm, they say. Time to do well.

In the second round, things went a bit better for Olya. Who chose to use a different spell than last time. Rictusempra. The tickling hex. And oh my did it work. Just as Axel burst in laughter, she got hit by his Steleus, beginning to sneeze uncontrollably. Irina had trouble with her spell, it almost hit Olya. And the Mahoutocoro girl did absolutely nothing. Again. Lucky us, me and Irina. And quietly she sighed, still in position.

Their successes remained mixed, progress in both hits and time as the next round of spells flew through the air. More spells would go towards the rather silent people this time around, Axel attempting to set Seraphina on fire with Incendio. Despite being tickled, he held his own rather well, casting with enough concentration to keep the spell under his control as it rushed towards the other. The Mahoutokoro student, for not seeming to pay attention, dodged expertly as she left no opportunity to get the strike.

Agnès would go for Olya- sneezing wasn't enough and it seemed as though her own wand pointed towards the Beauxbatons student. She would follow her teammate's directions with the Fire-Making Spell, struggling a little more with the casting and aiming yet willing it all to work. And work it did, Olya nearly tripping into the path of the spell as it hit her squarely. The flames weren't big enough to last, but the damage was still done and Olya's concentration further broken. Her Steleus cast- apparently wanting the others to experience what she was- would go awry, finding its way towards Ruby instead, much like what Irina was doing. While Olya had lost a lot of control on her spell, she still had enough to push it across the block towards the unsuspecting opponent. They too would now get to experience the sneezing fit that Olya was recovering from.

Irina would have her original target as Ruby and with no spells flying in her direction, she would have the time to properly cast and concentrate on one final flame for this round. Ruby seemed a little more aware now, but she wouldn't be able to move out of the way of this spell either, feeling the power of the Koldovstoretz's magic as she finally landed a hit. That fire wouldn't be going out anytime soon- it was still a close match, but Mahou-storetz were slowly pulling ahead. If that would stay was anyone's guess.

This duel was growing more and more frustrating, but between the fits of laughter he couldn't control, Axel couldn't really show that frustration. He tried to fight them off and set his mind straight to hopefully land another hit, but at this point, it was anybody's duel. The other team was good, but he was confident his team was better. They would just have to hold out a little longer.
