do you want to build a snowman? • threadSomething about the beautiful winter wonderland of this year's summer camp theme called to Ophelia. Whenever she walking about the camp grounds, her eyes drifted towards the snow that was forever falling from the sky and she loved the cold weather clothing that she got to wear. She hadn't taken this particular purple trench coat out of her closet in forever.
Today, as she walked back from the Quidditch game that she'd spectated, Ophelia felt the pull to go near the snow. Since she had pretty much nothing else to do, except sit in her tent with her tentmates, for the rest of the day, the Ravenclaw relented.
Wearily, she made her way off the path, stepping into the magical snow. Lifting her arms up, she caught little snowflakes in the palm of her hand, loving the feel of it. In Dublin, she barely got to see snow, and whenever she did, it melted quickly. Going deeper, the young Northwell dug her hands into the snow, pulling some out of the mound and shaping it into a little ball. Maybe, if she found other willing students, she could organise a snowball fight. As if that'll ever happen...
What was an activity that she could do even without anyone else? Building a snowman! Ophelia put her tiny snowball on the ground and started to feel for more snow. She probably looked ridiculous to the passersby, but for once, she didn't mind that much.
Maybe, someone will even join me.

| ⋆ ✩ ☾ ✩ ⋆ enter | ─────It had been an amazing camp so far. Ruby had done so much things she wouldn’t have before the start. As she made her way through the snow, she thought back of the broom sledding race, and the mistletoe spin she attended. She was so glad she came, as she was still debating just before she had to leave. But now, camp was slowly ending, and all activities were nearly done. Deciding on where to go next, she made a detour while on her way back to her tent. Maybe someone was there to talk to. She stood still for a moment, taking in the beauty of the snow covered tents and the enchanted snow that never seemed to stop falling from the skies. She bended down and took a handful of snow in her hands. Slowly, she turned it into a nice ball of snow. She turned around to throw it in the trees, but caught some movement in the corner of her eye. It looked like someone was down in the snow, and Ruby started walking towards this figure to see if he or she needed help. As she came closer, she saw the figure move. It didn’t seem like an emergency any more, but she got curious and decided to see what was going on. As she got there, she saw Ophelia down in the snow, making a big pile and trying to roll a ball. She called out to here, as to not scare her. Hi, Ophelia. What are you making? At first I thought you fell down and needed help. She laughed, and got on her knees next to the other girl. Need a hand? Matilde couldn’t believe summer camp was almost over. Barely a month and it would be second year. Although she wasn’t really sure what to expect when she signed up, she was glad she had decided to come.
She had spent nearly the whole event with her friend Phelan who went to Beauxbatons. But today, she couldn’t find him anywhere. He was probably practicing for his duel, she figured, which was in a few days. With nothing to do for once, she decided to take a walk. It might be the last chance she got to enjoy the snow before next winter.
As she had done so many times already this summer, Matilde looked up at the falling snow in wonder. It was surely an odd theme for a summer camp… but it worked.
She wasn’t the only one who had decided to be outside today. Two girls were playing in the snow, she couldn’t quite tell what they were doing. Maybe making a snowman? As she got closer to the group, Matilde could see that it was Ophelia Northwell and Ruby Night- both about to be second years like her. She’d never spoken much to either of the girls, but knew them by face and name. After going back and forth a little in her head, she approached the girls cautiously. “Hi Ophelia, hi Ruby!” She said, smiling.

do you want to build a snowman? • threadOphelia looked up as she heard the snow crunching under someone's feet as they walked closer. Was it against some rule to play with the magical snow? Had she done something wrong? Her eyes focused in on a girl around her age walking towards her with a smile on her face, and the Ravenclaw relaxed slightly.
As the girl got closer, Ophelia realised that it was someone she knew. "Ruby!" The girl was one of Ophelia's tentmates. She giggled as Ruby said that she'd believed that she needed help. "Oh, no. I haven't fallen. And, sure, come help me make a snowman!"
They worked in silence for a bit, rolling up and compacting snow tightly, making the balls bigger and bigger. Ophelia picked up one of her giant snowballs, trying to put it on top of her original snowball, but then dropped the large mound, making it break. Then she'd had to start over again. She looked over at Ruby. Hopefully the snow hadn't gone flying into her face. "Sorry! I'm not usually clumsy, but the snowballs are heavy and my hands are cold." She smiled shyly.
That's when she heard the sound of more crunching snow. Looking up once more, Ophelia found another girl approaching. This girl was a Hogwarts student too, and a Hufflepuff, just like Ruby. "Hi Matilde!" Ophelia stood up, shaking the snow off her coat and rubbing some heat into her hands. "Would you like to join Ruby and I to make a snowman?" She probably sounded stupid, but something about the magic of winter in the middle of summer had taken over the sensible part of Ophelia's brain.
The Ravenclaw got back to work, methodically building up her snowballs. "How's summer camp been for you guys so far?"

| ⋆ ✩ ☾ ✩ ⋆ enter | ─────Ruby smiled at Ophelia. Let’s make an epic snowman! She smiled and rolled her ball further. It was getting quite large. She watched as Ophelia tried to pick up one of her snow balls, but before she could get to her feet to help, it had already fallen and broke. It’s ok, here, I’ve made another one. Let’s pick it up together. She looked round at the sound of more footsteps in the snow. Ophelia greeted Matilde as she approached them. She smiled and waved at the girl. She didn’t really know her personally, but they were both from Hufflepuff so she knew her a bit. Yes, come and join! She pointed at the big snow balls already there. We could use some extra hands. She took a moment to rub her hands together and get some feeling back into them. It was good she had her gloves with her as she left, otherwise her hands would have really been frozen. But nonetheless, she enjoyed the snow. And the thought of getting back to the tent later, sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows made it even better. Let’s make an even bigger ball to start with, and make the biggest snowman we could. With three we could lift the bigger balls together. Would you help me roll this one, Matilde. She turned back to the ball she was rolling. Ophelia asked them about summer camp. I really like summer camp so far. I’ve done so many things I wouldn’t have done before. And the stadium looks so beautiful, covered in snow in summer. I’m not a summer girl, I don’t like it when it gets too hot outside. But the wintertime is such a wonderful time of the year.
