Duelling Beta Test Match 1 - Marla vs. Emile

[quote]A small whimper made its way out of Marla's mouth when she flicked her wand and nothing happened. And there she was, watching Emile's filipendo spell hurdling right at her.

I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to d-

And it hit Marla. Straight in the chest. It surprisingly didn't send her flying through the ceiling as she thought... But it sure as hell did knock the wind out of her. God... Emile knew his spells.

Even though Marla was still recovering from Emile's spell, she needed to act quick. Maybe since filipendo worked so well on her... She could use it on Emile? Ah! But she didn't want him to suffer through that! That's just plain cruel! But she didn't know any other spells. What to do.. What to do..

To hell with it. Marla couldn't think of any more offensive spells and didn't have time to use something like the green sparky-spell thingy that she couldn't remember the name of. And so, she raised her want, mouthed 'sorry', juuust in case her spell actually hit Emile, and yelled the incantation.

"Flipendo!" She yelled, gritting her teeth nervously as her wand made a fluid movement through the air.

I am SO, SO sorry about how late this is. I have been so busy with school and with getting over a very severe cold. This is two days late and I feel so bad. Sorry if this holds the beta testing back.

Emile watched in horror as he got a taste of his own medicine. His own spell, used against him. Well, it wasn’t really his spell, but he had just used it and it felt kind of personal as he watched it come towards him.

The events leading up to this were him casting the spell, Marla falling back, and then her trying to cast it again. Emile didn’t really know what else to do in the situation other than try to dodge what bad and misery was coming towards his chest.

He inhaled sharply and tried to step to the side watching his breath falter a bit as he did so. He had tried to move quite fast, considering the fact he was about to get hurdled into the air..or maybe he was. He hoped to all the stars above the later was what would actually happen.

He tried to think positively. Even if he got hit with flipendo, he’d still get some sort of material for his book, right? Some sort of fight scene material that could be written based off his first hand experience. Considering he was an aspiring writer, this was all good for him, so instead of trying to think about how much pain he might be in, he decided to brace himself instead and hope for the best.

The round

Marla steadies herself after being hit. With gritted teeth she flicks her wand and hurls the spell she herself was hit with back at her opponent.

Emile might have seen it coming, been lucky, or both of the above. Instead of continuing his attack he decides to go on the defense. He nimbly steps aside, just in time as the opponents spell twirls past where his chest had been moments before and dissipates in the air.
Emile posts first.

Duelling Beta Test Match 1 - Marla vs. Emile
Emile stood almost in terror as he looked to the side, seeing where he would have been hurdled into the air if not for his quick reflexes. He was happy to be a werewolf in a human's body for once and thanked his lucky stars for the opportunity of being able to move so fast.

On the other hand, he felt extremely, very, guilty for hurting Marla. He was her friend..seeing her get knocked back like made his heart ache, and to top it all off, he was the one hurting her. He had been excited for this duel, and he was having fun being able to use spells, but deep down he kind of wanted it to be over. All the poor Gryffindor wanted to do was get butterbeer with Marla, and that was it. Was that too much to ask for? He wasn't sure. But he did know he had to snap back and cast a new spell, otherwise he would be the one losing health. He thought to his classes and to the list of spells Professor Pendrast had given him when they first started the duel and tried to think of something that would only make Marla uncomfortable but not necessarily harm her too badly.

Curse of the Bogies! That sounded good..discomfort. And there didn't seem to be any tissues in site. Emile quickly pointed his wand at Marla's nose..which seemed to be a good place to do so. That's where mucus came from, right? "Mucus ad Nauseam!" He yelled, make the shape of a tear with his wand. To him, he was always able to remember the wand movement because it reminded him of a drop of mucus coming from a runny nose. He prayed to whatever god there is above that the spell would work.

Marla let out a sigh of relief as Emile had evaded her spell. It would feel nice to win the duel, but she felt absolutely terrible about hurting him. Even though she hasn't hit him yet... Which is a good thing!

What wasn't so good? Emile yelled the incantation to another spell... Curse of the Bogies? Marla's heart stopped for a few seconds as she watched it hurdling towards her face. Before it was too late, she leaped out of the way of the spell. The last thing she needed was mucus gushing out of her nose...

The round

Barnaby yawned a bit as the two duelists was making their moves. He picked up a pocket-watch from his chest pocket and looked at the time. Hmm, it should be dinner ready in the great hall soo-

His thought was cut short as the kids started moving again. The boy seemed to have come to terms with something as he flicked his wand with some sort of newfound determination.

The girl on the other hand seemed to have lost her courage. Emiles curse flung forward. And while Marla seemed to be dropping all sense of defense, it did not help her. The curse hit her in her shoulder as she tried to dodge… but it didn’t knock her back, of burn her, it just melted away. Like water being drawn into a sponge, except the sponge was Marla herself.

Marla posts first.
