Journey to Hogwarts

Time often passes faster than any of us could realise. Sometimes, a year can pass so quickly, that it seems like a single moment. A minute in the infinite abyss of time. That was how it felt when Eugenia thought of the past year. She was another Hogwarts first year, sorted into Hufflepuff, made some friends, learned all of the spells and potions of her year, focused on perfection and ultimately had a great time. Hogwarts, I’m a single year, had become her third home, a place she always liked to be in.

Now, the Summer Holidays were over. Eugenia had visited Diagon Alley, bought all of the stuff she needed and was now in King’s Cross Station, ready to board the Hogwarts express on this magnificent journey towards the castle. The Karageorgiadi family had arrived there quite early, so Eugenia had lots of time to stow her trunk and read one or two books. Finding an empty compartment at this time was remarkably easy, she found one almost immediately.

She then walked outside, realising these were the last 20 minutes she would spend with her family until the winter holidays, or possibly until the end of the school year! She first walked towards her sister, who wanted to come with her too. Not yet little sissy! In three years, I promise, we will ride the train together and sit at the same compartment too! I love you so much ok? I will write to you frequently! She turned around to her parents, who hugged and kissed her. As I promised to Ifigenia, I will write to you soon, with my first impressions. Don’t forget to send me food! She laughed.

A booming voice was heard in the distance. Only 10 minutes left to get in the train! She had to hurry. Kissing her sister one last time and saying goodbye, she walked over to the train and hopped on, absent mindedly. Eugenia then started walkeing towards the compartment she sat in. A voice was heard. I’m Effy. Effy Brown. Eugenia suddenly felt like she hit a person and suddenly, they both fell down to the ground. Another girl had fallen too. Ouch! Eugenia looked at the girl in front of her. She smiled, trying not to giggle. So you must be Effy Brown. Um, nice to meet you, my name is Eugenia Karageorgiadi. I’m truly sorry to have knocked you over! If you need a seat, just come to my compartment, it is not far away from here!

So you must be Effy Brown. Um, nice to meet you, my name is Eugenia Karageorgiadi. I’m truly sorry to have knocked you over! If you need a seat, just come to my compartment, it is not far away from here!- Said the girl who was wearing specs. It seemed like the girl was nice and friendly. Effy liked the aura that the girl produced.
Effy said now getting up and dusting her robes, Uh! Nice to meet you Eugenia, and Yes I am Effy, Effy Brown. Seems like you were in real hurry! Said Effy now giggling. Effy put her right hand up and waited for Eugenia to accept it for shaking hands.
And yes I would love to have a seat with you in your compartment... And don't you feel sorry for bumping into us, it's all right! It happens sometimes! said Effy smiling warmly.

_{Effy was glad that she had managed to make new friends so easily. And she hoped that this friendship would last long. She was looking at her new friend Eugenia when she noticed Eugenia's physical features. She was attractive, and really pretty. Effy liked Eugenia's eyes, it was greenish, and coincidentally, Effy liked this shade of green in particular.
Eugenia also had long curly brown hair which complimented her over all physical features. Effy liked her new friend, she was curious to know more about Eugenia and hoped that Eugenia would also feel the same.}

Eugenia slowly got up. Her Hufflepuff robes were dusted, and so were the girl’s. She twirled once, letting all the dust fall off. That girl, whom Eugenia believed to be Effy, also got up and threw the dust off her robes. Uh, nice to meet you Eugenia, and yes, I am Effy. Effy Brown. Seems like you were in a real hurry! A small giggle escaped Effy’s lips. Eugenia giggled too. She was a bit ashamed she fell on the girl, but we are all people, so there is no problem in accidentally colliding with a stranger. Right? She replied. Maybe I was in a hurry, maybe not.

Effy extended her right hand, offering a handshake. Eugenia accepted the handshake, making a small bow as they shook hands. Her parents always told her it was basic courtesy. They weren’t around at the moment, but Eugenia still followed their rules and expectations making sure she doesn’t forget them while at Hogwarts. I’d love to have a seat with you at your compartment. Eugenia was a bit surprised the girl wanted to go in her compartnt. She definitely had some odd opinions, in Eugenia’s mind. If she was in her shoes, she’d try to find an empty compartment first. Strangers could be a danger! But she was no such stranger.

Ugenia looked at Effy and her warm smile for a moment, trying to register her character. Alright! I hope my compartment is still empty, sometimes people do not regard all the stuff you placed on unoccupied chairs. She now looked at the other girl @Cassie Jiang who she had knocked over. Would you like to come to my compartment too? I’m Eugenia, second year Hufflepuff. Eugenia could swear she recognised the girl. There are lots of open seats. She smiled, hoping that the girl would also accept. She really needed some company in her compartment. Eugenia couldn’t bear being alone. At least, not when she knew two possibly awesome girls.

It is now third year for Cassie, that means new expectations and challenges. Many exciting things will take place this year-- Hogsmeade, finally she does not need the fake permission form; new optional subjects, she thinks she will choose them all, she wants 12 OWLs. Smiling and also a bit nervous, she stepped onto the train with her trunk. She is now very familiar with the train, this is the fifth time she has ever stepped onto it.

She picks a random compartment, hoping she might be lucky this time-- last time she met a poor girl, crying because of a letter. That was not pleasant. She knocks on the door, finds it not locked, and entered.

There are already two people inside. They both look younger than her. She gives a large, warm grin, and says, 'Hi! This is Cassie Jiang, a se.... oh sorry, third year Ravenclaw.' having introduced herself as a second year for so many times, she is not used to changing to third. 'Would you mind me sitting here? Sorry for interrupting your talk anyway.' She stands, and wait, these two students look friendly, she thinks. Maybe they can be two more friends. That would be soooo nice!

Now, it was beginning to become very fun. Eugenia and Effy had now arrived to their compartment. Eugenia’s trunk was half-unpacked, so she piled her stuff to one of the seats and sat down. Shame that other girl never replied. It would have been cool to have her too here. Nevertheless, Effy is with me, who knows, maybe she will be in Hufflepuff too! Re packing her trunk took around five minutes, generally not much time. She left out 2 books, Quidditch through the Ages and The Standard book of Spells, Year 2. She had already read the books, but some revision to the learn-by-heart text wouldn’t hurt.

It was high time she talked with the other girl. But what could they even talk about? There were so many possibilities. Family, Interests, How it felt going to Hogwarts… I’m not prepared to share any family secrets, so no. Not family. Who knows if she is familiar with it. Her self dialogue was in Greek. Eugenia made sure that Effy couldn’t hear, there was no need for her to do so anyways. Well Effy, what things do you like? I, for example enjoy reading books, playing with my sister and- She had to stop at mid sentence. Someone was at the door.

Eugenia turned. Judging by the girl’s appearance, it was the same person she asked to come to their compartment. She was pretty sure the girl hadn’t heard her in the first place. Hi, this is Cassie Jiang a se- oh sorry third year Ravenclaw.Would you mind me sitting here Sorry for interrupting your talk anyway. She seemed nice. And familiar. Had she seen her before? Hello there Cassie. My name is Eugenia Karageorgiadi. And of course, you can sit here. And my apologies for previously being the one who knocked you over. She returned Cassie’s warm smile and pointed to an empty seat across the table. She was excited. To meet Cassie.

Time though was not on their side. It seems like time passes exceptionally fast when you have fun. Soon enough, the girls had reached their destination. Bidding goodbye to Effy and Cassie, Eugenia grabbed her trunk and hopped off the train. She arrived at the carriages led by thestrals and jumped onto one of them. What a marvellous new year it will be.
