Élodie had spent much of the earlier part of the day getting ready for the Mistletoe Spin Dance she'd signed up for, and in all honesty, she found the task quite difficult without her personal tutor, Elizabeth, to help her out. Nevertheless, Élodie had finally managed to make herself what she thought was presentable for the occasion.

Her dress was a lovely, floor-length, and accented her figure perfectly. The lavender-colored dress had floral patterns decorating the corset portion, with a gorgeous flowy skirt that she adored. She'd chosen some lovely silver heels, which she might admit, were a bit much with their rhinestones and height. She honestly couldn't care less if they were too much. Her jewelry was expensive, the silver accessories glittering in the light of the glowing dance floor, and her blonde hair was done up into an elegant updo that she somehow managed. She had just a small bit of natural makeup on, mascara, blush, and highlighter, making her skin look more glowy and her eyes pop.

If Élodie was being honest, she genuinely enjoyed getting ready for the specific event, even though it took much more care and time than normal. She figured it was since she wasn't being forced to hang out or go anywhere by her parents.

When she had made her way onto the dance floor and the music had started, the french girl found she perfectly knew the steps to a dance that was unknown to her. When the enchanted music had stopped, she had first found herself with a boy under the mistletoe. She didn't know what to do, so she kept mostly silent, only really introducing herself before the music started up again and she was whisked off into the dance.

The lavender skirts flowed around her as she spun and danced, an air of confidence and elegance around her as she moved across the dance floor gracefully. When the music finally stopped again, she found herself with a girl this time. Glancing up, she sighed as her eyes came in contact with a candle. Looking back at the girl, she took a moment to observe her blonde hair and blue gown, noticing that the heels Élodie wore gave her some extra height over the girl.

Élodie smiled at the girl sweetly before speaking, her voice smooth and melodic as she spoke with confidence, a slight French accent on her English. "Hello. I'm Élodie Dubois. Beauxbatons." she introduced, scanning the girl's dress once more. "You look lovely tonight." she complimented.

The boy seemed to be more than happy to move out of the way of the candle, and Reuben moved out with him. It was only then that Reuben got a good look at his face and realized that he had indeed seen this boy before. It was the first time he had actually met Lorelai, and that was probably why he had forgotten this boy - he only remembered her. But now that they had met again, Reuben made a promise to remember him. "Nice to see you again too! Looks like floors and bottles are trying to tell us that we should be friends, don't you think?", he said grinning, hoping that he would get a new friend today.

The floor swept him away in only a few seconds and then his feet finally stopped again. Under a mistletoe. With someone who was still no Lorelai. Reuben was glad that he did not have to be the first one to reject the kiss. The only person he wanted to kiss right now, or ever, was Lorelai.

"That's alright. I'm also here for a girl...", he said looking wistfully at Lorelai. "Well, um, I'm Reuben and I really hope your girl comes here, or you meet her soon. I would love to see you around", he said smiling at the other boy.

She wasn't exactly sure if she left a good impression on her first partner but Ara being Ara, she couldn't care less. Not too long after their conversation started, it ended just as quickly as the music started again. Miraculously, her feet knew the steps through the tiredness. She didn't really have the endurance and energy for anything other than something she loved doing. The young Villa didn't put effort in random things.

As the music played, she danced with random partners. The switching was fast enough so that she couldn't really predict who was her next partner out of just logical thinking. When the music stopped, she let out a sigh. Not one of relief she wasn't kissing anyone but out of relief the fast dancing stopped. Ara looked to see her partner. It was someone she knew, the Slytherin's dueling co-captain, Pyxis Hellebore. The Slytherin was quite happy she knew someone on this dance floor but not happy that she was jumping up in joy inside her head. More like the slight smirk happy.

"Greetings Hellebore," she said to the younger boy. When Pyxis first joined the team, Ara was quite impressed at how a first year even qualified to be in such position. It was all somewhat good until she felt hot wax land on her hand. It stinged a bit, yes, but she had a good pain tolerance. The black and white haired girl slightly moved herself and the Pyxis away from the dripping candle, in fear that her partner did not have a good pain tolerance to hot wax and would overreact.

“I think so too—”

Pyxis was about to agree with Reuben. He didn’t think the guy whose hand he kissed a year ago would be up for befriending him, but Reuben seemed cool about it. Pyxis liked that. Unfortunately, the dance floor had other plans. He was whisked away almost as quickly as he had been deposited in front of Reuben just as the enchanted instruments started up their tunes. Pyxis didn’t like being tossed about the dance floor, but he took comfort in the fact that he looked like he was pulling off the dance moves superbly.

Just like before, he and the rest of the floor cycled through several partners until the music came to another stop. With Reuben, Pyxis felt immediate calm. The panic that overwhelmed his heart during the forced dancing had subsided quickly in his presence. This time though, Pyxis felt a shiver run up his spine. He knew Ara from the duelling team, but that was the extent of their interactions. She was also older than him so he didn’t have to face her in classes, but he remembered seeing her around the commons and at their tables during meal times. She did not look approachable.

But Ara greeted him with a smile, so he sunk back into a comfortable demeanor.

“Hello, Miss Villa,” he returned her grin. “Congratulations on your last duelling win.” If Pyxis recalled correctly, he was refereeing the match on the adjacent piste, so he didn’t have a chance to watch Ara and the two other snakes take it home. His thoughts were then interrupted by Ara guiding him away from their position. He glanced up to see another melting candle. Gosh, did the organizers think this one through? But things could have been worse. Mistletoe could have been waiting for them. It’s not like he would have minded, but he really wasn’t prepared for something like that.

“I hope that didn’t hurt too much,” Pyxis said, taking her hand the second he saw the splotch of translucent wax adorning it. “This is a real health and safety hazard,” he grumbled, holding her hand closer to his eyes and peeling the wax off once it dried. I’d rather it fall on my skin than my sweater, though. This thing’s cashmere! … I think.

Action: Moving away from the dripping wax with Ara.

MODERATION POST

It seems that Nathan Hawthorn is never going to show (writer requested his removal), and his name is slowly scratched out in gold by an invisible quill on the list of names at the dance floor's entrance. No matter, though - there are still lots of others here all ready to find someone to smooch!

Yasha Volkov, for instance, knows exactly who this someone is, and abandons his partner to go talk to Kaya Rose Bennett, who is happy to engage both him and her partner Quinn Brook in conversation. Ara Villa and Pyxis Hellebore, as well as Élodie Dubois and Ruby Night, are similarly talkative, though the latter offers a hug! How sweet. Swan Clark makes an appearance, and it seems both he and his partner Reuben Garcia are there for women with whom they haven't been paired yet. Patience, boys! Good things in time.

The music starts back up again, and the spell whisks everyone away to find a new partner... and by the time the violins fade out once more, each skilled dancer is paired with someone very new, in a situation that is either also new or vaguely familiar...
