The Mistletoe Spin Group #8
Group 8
THE RULES:Reducio
- All PCs and iNPCs are welcome to join this event, but must have signed up and been assigned to a group. Please only post in a group to which you have been assigned.
- Each round will last the duration of 1 song and will be moderated once per week.
- At the end of each round (week), the song will end and students will find themselves paused with a new partner. Some pairs will find themselves paused under a floating sprig of mistletoe, and others will be spared from the embarrassment! If you and your partner find yourselves under the mistletoe, you're supposed to kiss... but whether you choose to is completely up to you.
- You may post as many times as you like per round to do unmoderated actions such as talking and dancing, but you only get ONE moderated action (kissing, hexing, punching, etc.) per round, so spend it wisely.
- Failure to post in a round will result in your character freezing and declining any actions that come their way (such as kisses). Failure to post in more than one round may result in your character being removed from the game.
- Note that all IC rules still apply, as do all site rules and ratings, so behave yourselves!
In addition to the variety of differently-decorated tents scattered across the magically snowy ground of the London Quidditch Stadium, those exiting their temporary residences on the evening of Friday, August 2nd would have been greeted with a lovely sight. Several small, rectangular dance floors were set up earlier that afternoon in various points around the stadium, and each was now decorated and gave off a golden glow. Those curious as to their use could approach to find that each dance floor was guarded by a post bearing a list of carefully calligraphed names. It seems that today's guest lists are regulated to ensure certain dancers end up on certain floors.
Each dance floor was set up to appear exactly the same, without any fear of getting a "better" location for the evening's mistletoe ball, this year's version of the ever-popular Twirl the Flagon game that has occurred at summer camps past each year. Only when one approached the area bearing their name could they move past the outside barrier and onto the dance floor.
The rectangular floor itself appeared reminiscent of a chessboard, with golden and brown diamonds emitting a soft, warm glow from below, as though each tile sat upon a miniature sun that was simply bursting to escape. Similarly, those who touched the floor would find that it was slightly warmed to stave off the surrounding snow, which also fell lightly from enchanted clouds above. The floor was also lined with flickering candles on the two longest sides - careful not to catch your fragile evening gowns or dress robes in their flames!
Nearby, an enchanted string quartet of instruments play a lovely, if somewhat fast-paced, waltz on their own without a single musician among them. Above the floor, if one were to glance skyward, their view of a wonderfully starry night sky would be partially blocked by floating objects. Upon closer inspection, about half of these seemingly randomly placed unidentified fliers would be found to be candles, while the other half would be small, greenish bundles each lit with an interior golden glow. The promised mistletoe for the mistletoe ball.
One final detail, beautifully enchanted by magic far beyond students' puny reaches, would await those who took even a single step onto the glowing dance floor. Was it a mild form of the Dancing Feet Spell, Tarantallegra? Or perhaps some other, unknown charm? Either way, those who wandered onto the dance floor would find themselves whisked into a fast-paced, whirling dance for which they somehow magically knew all of the steps. Each dancer will also change partners multiple times in a single song, so you may not even know who you end up dancing with, but they too will know the steps from the enchantment. Never fear if you've never danced before - you will dance today!
Just be careful - for when the music stops and so do your pounding feet, you may find yourself under a floating candle and be safe, or you may find yourself under one of the hovering bundles of mistletoe with a strange partner. Will you choose to follow the mandate of the mistletoe and kiss them, or will you choose to break the rule?
This event takes place, IC, on AUGUST 2.
Moderations will occur EVERY SATURDAY.
Mods will not occur at the same time each week, so make sure you post before Saturdays to ensure your post gets in!

When Dori had heard there was almost a ball-like event with dancing and fun, it took them less than a second to sign themselves and Elsi up. It was a no brainer! Elsi had brought the joy to balls back to Dori by being a protective and lovely force during them. There was no time to worry about things like- stabbings and fighting when the love of your life was handing you a glass of lemonade. This did mean- that Dori didn't really read what the event was. A play on a sort of- spin the bottle game. Which Dori had participated in once and left shortly after it had started. When they walked in they were perfectly cheery, hand in hand with Elsi. The young Hufflepuff felt perfectly giddy about finding a mistletoe to kiss Elsi under.⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛
The two of them were affectionate in public, but mostly with hugs and hand holding and leaning on each other. They had a mutual understanding that kissing in public, save for some stray forehead kisses and stolen pecks in a hallway before class, wasn't something for them like it was for other teenagers hidden under dark staircases. But something like this felt perfectly reasonable, besides it wasn't like the two would find themselves making out in the middle of the dancefloor. Although, Dori was worried that they would have to see other students partaking in the practice. Dori didn't care- they just felt like they were intruding on a private moment when they did catch it.
The two of them took a second to watch everyone enter the dance floor, it seemed kind of awkward and clunky but they chocked that up to all of them kind of being weird teenagers more than anything else. But Dori learned the horror that awaited them as they stepped onto the floor. "Elsi! No-" The second they stepped onto the dance floor, Dori was ripped away from Elsi. Their body was moving, dancing, quite fluidly actually. They were actually mildly surprised at how well they were moving and grooving. What a spell!
However, their wonderment only lasted mere moments as the dance brought them to someone else. Their worst enemy. Dori's hands and Percival's hands were clasped together. Their hand on his shoulder. His hand wrapped around to their shoulder blade. Their bodies moving in tandem. "A bit obsessed with me, are you?" Dori sneered, pulling their body away as far as the spell would allow them too. Their eyes darted around- clocking who else was here, there were familiar faces. None that they would- kiss, besides Elsi.
Their gaze returned to the boy in front of them, so much older than they had been the first time they had squabbled. Only for him to say, under the dear mistletoe, "If you’re going to hit me, just get on with it." Permission received from Percival.
A thrill raced up their spine. An option that had never occurred to them. Now with permission. A smirk, slithered its way onto their face. Forgetting that this was a public event, and maybe they wouldn't love Elsi seeing them punch someone. But he knew the history they had with Percival, so surely he wouldn't mind. So their arm wound back for a punch as they said, "Gladly, you fucker."Action || Attempting to Punch Percival⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛

Despite the constrictive grip of the damn corset beneath her gown, Winifred Harper was in her element. Raised by a romance-adoring Muggle mother, she had become well acquainted with all of Jane Austen's novels, as well as any television show or movie based on said novels. Winnie spent many weekends curled up on the couch, with her eyes glued to a book or the television screen. Her mother had most recently allowed her to watch Bridgerton (although Saoirse had shielded her eyes as she fast-forwarded through a few risqué parts).
Understandably the Ravenclaw was extremely excited when she found out about the Regency era inspired ball. She wasn't entirely sure her tent mates had fully recovered from listening to her squeals of delight. Her puff sleeve regency era inspired gown, a light shade of pink, showcased silky fabric adorned with pearlescent butterfly appliqués. The chest of the gown featured careful embroidery of pink roses, with sequin and pearl embellishments adorning the neckline and waistline. She wore two white silk opera gloves and white ballet flats on her feet, which were secured with two ribbons tied around her ankles. She had carefully pinned her curls into a half up do, adorning it with white roses and a pearl tiara. Around her neck, she fastened a two-tiered pearl drip necklace around her neck. She had the drawstrings of her rose embroidered reticule slid over her wrist.
Once they located the dance floor they had been assigned to, Winnie would arrive alongside a few of her tent mates. "I... I kind of thought we would just be all together like we usually are during balls." She admitted nervously, her eyes flickering over the list of names. She had not seen Matt yet, and she was starting to wonder if he even attended this year.
Akari, Aaron, Percival--- Wait, what?! Her face flushed upon reading his name, her heart hammered against her chest. Suddenly, her corset was feeling a lot tighter. It seemed that fate had decided they would dance together again tonight, or so she thought, until she stepped onto the dance floor and was suddenly whisked away.
She wasn't certain how her body was moving so gracefully considering her limited knowledge of this... particular dance, but it wasn't too bad, considering she ended up with Eve. Winnie smiled at the older Gryffindor, a few giggles escaping her as they twirled. By the time the song had ended she was a bit breathless.
As she glanced around the room dance floor to see how everyone else was enjoying the surprise, her eyes landed on Percival. Her heart skipped a beat before her eyes flickered over to Dorion, then finally up to the mistletoe hovering ominously above them. In an instant she felt her stomach drop, a wave of nausea washing over her as she realized what scene was about to play out before her very eyes, "... Oh!" She would attempt to step forward, intending to interrupt the pair and wedge her way between them. "Wait! Dorion no!"

The halfway point of summer camp had come and gone, but Aly's most looked-to event still had yet to occur. Sure, she had planned the scavenger hunt earlier in the week, and spending time with her tentmates had been lovely, but really, tonight was her baby: the Mistletoe Spin. After all, Hogwarts always had so very specific themes for their dances. Florals in spring and leaves in the fall, over and over, with very little variety. Where were the summer dances of tea-length skirts and sweating in the hot sun, then cooling off with a cold drink and another whirl round the floor, and where were the winter balls full of icy glamour and holiday-esque fashion? So, upon having been named to the camp planning committee and upon the theme having been decided as winter all summer, Aly knew that this was her time to shine. She'd gotten quite good at planning parties lately, after all.
And so the Spin, as she'd called it at first, came to life inside her mind, planned and assisted by various staff and the other members of the committee. She'd so carefully sketched out her ideas, the golden chessboard floor, the floating candles and mistletoe sprigs in midair above the dancers, the various locations so as to not get too crowded - and now, as she approached the eighth of nine dance-floors scattered round the snowy Quidditch stadium, the enchanted barrier recognising her name and shimmering into letting her past, it almost took her breath away anyway. Sure, this had been her idea, but the adults who'd set it up had truly outdone themselves. Yes, this was a winter ball that wouldn't be soon forgotten.
Especially not with the mistletoe around, spotted in lovely leafy green dots round the floor area, floating perhaps ten feet high so that no handsy first-years could grab any with their grubby little paws. Well, if there had been any first-years, anyway. Aly was relieved to see that her group seemed to be entirely folks her age, as she arrived and was promptly called out by her escort by her (nearly) full name. What was it for, may you ask? Definitely couldn’t have been not informing her mates that mistletoe would be involved! Whilst her white-haired tin soldier dropped her arm and turned to her with a look that was half-betrayal and half-shock, Aly simply pushed herself onto her tallest tiptoes, using her hold on Peri’s shoulder as a boost to pop up and kiss him lightly on the cheek. The poor boy had been through so much lately. He could use a little lighthearted fun, and if that happened to end in him snogging someone in the corner, would that be so bad? Landing back on her feet, Aly sent him a cheeky wink and, in a sing-song voice, teased, “Have funnn~” as she wiggled her fingers in a faux-flirtatious wave and turned to enter the golden chessboard, not as a pawn, but a queen.
With bated breath and a pounding heart, Aly set foot onto the enchanted dance floor for the first time, her mind immediately filling with the steps as she was magically whisked away into a fast-paced dance of twirling and whirling and switching partners what seemed to be every few seconds, though she knew it was likely much longer. Through the spinning skirts and coattails, she managed to catch glimpses of Peri and Eve in their respective outfits, both of them somehow more regal and elegant and absolutely gorgeous than they had been when they'd all left their shared tent together just minutes before, along with Cassius and Winnie who were also apparently in their group. She was suddenly glad that she'd warned her mates about the wintry theme ahead of time and told them to pack some fancy clothes, because they outshone every single other person on the floor. (And if Peri had a light imprint of her scarlet lipstick on the bottom of his cheekbone… well, hopefully that wouldn’t scare off any potential romantic partners for him later in the night!)
These other people on the floor, outshined by the sun and moon, included Aly herself, whose clumsy demeanor would have definitely resulted in her legs getting tangled in her long and inordinately puffy skirt if the enchantment on the dance floor hadn't kept her upright. Her curls floated through the air at each quick-stepping turn, but thankfully, there were enough pins stuck into her updo to kill a horse keep the various poinsettias and pearls in their places. A particularly large poinsettia, conjured with practiced ease before the Spin, obscured her left ear, and from underneath it snaked a loose, curly braid with just a few of Aly's locks, down her left shoulder - having taken inspiration from the style of a white-haired girl Aly had seen at the food tents a few days prior, though looking around, she didn't see that girl anywhere. Perhaps she hadn't signed up for the Spin, or perhaps she'd ended up in a different group. Either way, if Aly ever saw her again, she'd have to let her know her hair was just lovely. But anyway - even with Aly's scarlet poinsettia gown, the puffed sleeves and vermilion gloves, the intricately laced corset front and back and the train, oh, the heavenly train... she still couldn't quite feel like the belle of the ball, not with Eve and Peri whirling around looking like that.
As the orchestral first song drew to a close, Aly switched partners one last time and finally found herself in the arms of a vaguely familiar dark-haired boy. With a start, an embarrassed flush creeping over her freckled cheeks, she recognised him after a moment as the opposing first-string Seeker from that very long and very humiliating Quidditch match back in May. The one against Gryffindor. The one in which Aly had failed her team, though technically, she'd done that quite a lot in Quidditch, and in varying different roles, too. This one in particular, however, was spectacularly shameful simply because of her elbow-laden role in taking down this specific opponent. What was his name again? From the beginning-of-match announcements, the Ravenclaw could remember that his surname was Cox or something similar, but his first name... well, that was another animal entirely.
She gave him an awkward smile as the final note faded away, extremely conscious that if he was prone to taking revenge, his elbows were very close to her face. "Er... Cox, isn't it?" Aly said sheepishly, looking up at him with an apologetic wince. "You might not remember me, but I was the other Seeker back in that match in May. I'm Aly. But you might already know that." The Ravenclaw glanced away, but after a few more beats of a pregnant silence, she cleared her throat, still extremely interested in the glowing tiles beneath the hem of her puffy red gown instead of being willing to look him in the eye as she apologised. "Look, I'm, er, sorry about all that madness with the elbows and such. I hope you weren't too badly hurt by it. That fall at the end did look... rather nasty." A shout went up behind her, but Aly didn't look yet - couldn't without finding out if she'd be forgiven, first.

@Aly Salinger, @Aaron Jones, mentioning Winnie and the Dorcival scuffle
┏ ┓ Pericles took to Camp activities at the whims of his tentmates. When Aly asked to sign him up for a dance, adding most everyone else meant to go, he had distractedly granted the go-ahead. "Like a ball? Sure," her fellow Ravenclaw said simply, squinting through microscopic goggles at the micrometer drum of a sextant. He had only caught the theme- regency in winter- but was too engrossed with his work to ask any pertinent questions. Aly might have taken advantage of this to omit an especially important detail.
It would come as no surprise that Pericles was wary of dances. Balls and Hogwarts students didn't mix well, a fact that he had etched into a permanent reminder. The metallic prosthetic in his eye socket was, if anything, an accessory of morbid humor. Yet he had made an effort all the same, as any properly raised pureblood would. Between a dutiful Hogsmeade tailor and help from home, Pericles arranged an ensemble to the theme of the Steadfast Tin Soldier. He arrived wearing a red uniform, augmented with gold trim and tin armor on his hands, shoulders, and boots. Short taper candles were melted to his pauldrons, seemingly enchanted not to drip wax nor spread their flames.
The trap was set, Pericles perfectly unaware of what he was getting into. He arrived at the edge of the dancefloor, taking a moment to admire its glow, then paused to squint up at the overhead objects. It all seemed like seasonal decor to him until he heard the instructions. "We're expected to what?" That sleepy demeanor shattered, giving way for shock that bordered on outrage as he looked about accusationally, demanding an explanation specifically from "Aly Salinger?" Despite being breathtaking in pearls, poinsettias, and those wild curls his hands had become familiar with through many messy braids, her beauty wouldn't ward off a stern scowl from the double-crossed soldier. She rather cheekily elected to reply with a smooch on the spot, leaving a faint lipstick print on his cheek. The tips of his ears almost immediately matched it in shade. "Still cross with you," Peri mumbled before she was lost to the sea of dancers, though he hardly sounded it. Her parting sing-song suggestion to Have fun~ only earned her an eyeroll and an unhappy grunt. Gods willing, though, he just might.
The dancefloor's spell took him by surprise, but Pericles gladly gave way to it, letting himself be effortlessly whisked off to the beat of an enchanted orchestra. He whirled gracefully through arms and faces, armor shuffling softly all the while. When the tall lad came to a halt in front of Aaron Jones, the story of a messy breakup came to mind- from the person who'd left that bold mark on his freckled face- and his expression fell strategically flat. "Oh. Hello, Jones," the Ravenclaw greeted plainly, only to have a potentially awkward interaction disrupted by a nearby shout from Winnie. Grand. The telltale start of a fight. Hogwarts kids couldn't keep their fists off of one another, and punching was a common occurrence at any dance, but they were mere minutes in for Merlin's sake. "We've just started," he sighed, gripping the hilt of what looked like a rapier. Unsheathing it, however, revealed a white wand attached to the end. Pericles aimed it overhead and uttered a nonchalant "Pluvia Velo." He didn't need any additional wax added to his costume. In an entirely uncharacteristic lapse of courtliness, he seemed to only be aiming the umbrella above himself.┗ ┛ Casting Umbrella Charm to keep the dripping wax off of himselfReducioPerfectionist I & II, Keen Eye, Spell Spread, Animagus, Blindvision

Although he was looking forward to it, Aaron hadn't known there would be a formal event at camp before arriving. The sixteen-year-old hadn't packed anything super formal, and he definitely didn't have anything he felt was fit for a "regency" theme. He was able to owl home though and get some of his suit pieces delivered. As he was experimenting more with fashion, he decided a beige turtleneck sweater with a blazer overtop was a nice look. A spell to change his blazer and dress pants to a muted shimmery gold color to make it a bit more "regency." A quick comb of his hair, a spritz of cologne, a double check in the mirror. The Hufflepuff was pretty happy with the final look, and as he joined his girlfriend on a walk to the event ("You look gorgeous, Opeila"), he had a nice pep in his step.
"Good luck," Aaron said with a charming smile, the arm he had around Opeila's waist pulling her closer. "I hope to see you under the mistletoe, but just in case," he whispered, leaning down and planting a kiss on her lips. After the cute moment, Aaron led the way and stepped onto the dance floor.
The couple was immediately torn apart by the magic; well, that was unexpected. Maybe Aaron hadn't read the fine print of how the event worked exactly, but he did think he'd be dancing on his own. Nevertheless, the magic of the dancefloor took him from partner to partner as the songs played. He hardly even had time to process whose hands were clasped in his as the songs played, but as the first song ended, he was suddenly standing across from Pericles Dralt. A fellow incoming sixth year, though Pericles was in Ravenclaw. They had made memories together planning the Secret Blossom Ball back in first year, but they hadn't hung out in the years since. Nevertheless, Aaron offered a charismatic smile to the teen across from him. His eyes briefly lingered on the metallic prosthetic eye (he'd heard about him losing an eye, but had no details beyond that), and then went to the faint lipstain on the other's cheek.
Did Pericles have a girlfriend?
The Ravenclaw's greeting stopped Aaron from dwelling on that thought for long, though.
"Hey, Pericles! You look awesome," the Hufflepuff greeted in return, his brown eyes taking in the rest of the Ravenclaw's outfit. "I like your theme choice," he complimented further, genuinely impressed by the amount of detail. His eyes raised back to the other's face when he spoke of the event just starting. Aaron didn't have time to reflect on that before Pericles had pulled out his wand from what looked like a sword holster. Woah, that was cool. The Ravenclaw cast the invisible umbrella charm, and Aaron's expression became puzzled. He looked overhead in that moment, realizing that there was a dripping candle a minute too late. A glob of candlewax landed directly onto the shoulder of his suit, causing a frown.
"Well, that's unfortunate," Aaron murmured, immediately reaching for it. It was only as he tried to clean off his shoulder that he realized Pericles spell must've failed. That, or the umbrella wasn't angled to protect them both, but why would that be the case? No, the spell must've failed.
Action: Cleaning wax off of suit shoulder

Going to Summer Camp with Dorion had quickly been turning into one of the best ideas Elsian ever went through with. Being able to nap at any odd hour in the day. Hanging out together, stretched out on warm sunny sand of their tent or curled up near each other by the bonfires put up with no homework to take away time, no deadlines looming over him, no studying for tests to interrupt very important hand holding-
Life was good. Great even.
Maybe it was just the lack of work, or the fact Dorion was there, never far, but Elsian couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt so awake. So there and in the moment. It’d been…nice. Very nice. Nice enough to the point Elsian hadn’t even felt a little cheated when he’d found out the dance Dorion had signed them both up for was eating into his daily, lay down and do nothing, block in his schedule. He just felt happy to dance with Dori. Merlin knows they deserved more nice dances to replace the bad ones, and he was all too happy to oblige a dance or 2.
That said he didn’t actually know much about said dance. The theme was…Shakespearean? No that wasn’t it; regency…? Eh, it was something like that. Not that it mattered, Elsian hadn’t exactly packed for anything fancy. The most he’d been able to do, after being reminded the dance was today because he'd forgotten, was find a white, almost silver colored, long sleeved blouse he did not remember packing but looked…fancy-ish. That plus some black pants? Good enough; he was pretty sure he could wear a paper bag and Dori would still love him.
The point was he tried.
Eyeing up the dance floor, or rather the mistletoe, he couldn’t help but give Dori a playfully scandalized look. “Oh I see how it is,” he began slyly, making witty comments and teasing remarks about them only wanting him here for the free kisses as they wandered closer to the dance floor.
Dori went first, one foot atop one of the warm, glowing diamonds chasing away the chill. Hand in hand, he’d just been about ready to jokingly bow and ask for their first dance before suddenly they were being ripped away, body twisting away from him in a fluid move that had him faltering. “Dori-?” Wide eyed, he only hesitated for a moment, Dorion startled voice enough to have him step forward to try and snatch back Dorions hand, one foot on the glowing floor. “Wha- hey!” he gasped, surprise mixing into the words as he was whisked away from Dori in a whirl of dancing.
This wasn’t what he’d signed up for. Or- what Dori signed up for he supposed.
But it was hard to be annoyed with everyone else being just as surprised or taken with the dance. Whatever magic this was, it was doing all the work and it was all too easy to get lost in the music and let the magic take care of everything else as he spun and ducked between a blur of other dancers, surprise and laughter and hollered words blending with the music. At one point Elsian had seen Dori, had thought for a moment they’d meet up as partners switched only to laugh when they were denied at the last minute as he danced away.
Feeling a little turned around, he breathed past a relieved but amused chuckle as the music came to a pause, finding himself with a dancer certainly dressed to impress! Distantly he wondered if they’d made it themselves, then, if not where’d they’d bought it, before mentally shaking the thought away with a polite smile as they spun to a stop. “Wow, do I feel under dressed next to you.” he joked, letting go of the other. They looked familiar, but that could've just been because he’d seen her who knows how many times between all the spinning and partner switches.
It was all rather dizzying honestly. The rush of magic making him spin and dance in the blur of people with that odd, knowing way was, to put it mildly, one hell of a lesson in ‘letting the music guide you’!
It was for that reason you could forgive him for not noticing how unsettled his temporary dance partner was at that moment. That, and he was rather quick to search the dance floor as he looked for Dorion. That was quick to change when she said his name though.
“Um- yeah?” He offered awkwardly. Usually people only called him by his last name if he’d done something wrong but judging by the look on the others face? That wasn’t the case this time.
…hopefully.
Quickly awkwardness turned to a tiny bit of dread when it all came together. The harpies seeker, of course. “Oh.” He muttered, tone a tad flatter than what was likely comforting. “One of the harpi- ravens… I mean, sorry I uh, didn’t recognize you out of uniform?… I’m Elsian.” He cleared his throat, biting back the words with a stilted sounding chuckle. Both at the others words, and his stupid little comment.
“Oh, don’t remind me,” he winced, pressing a hand to his side at the memory, “you birds have a mean elbow game.” That match had…not been fun. Then again, what did you expect when you were the last one up in the air? He’d been pretty mad about it back then, or maybe the better word was annoyed. Who wouldn’t be? They’d lost pretty badly after all. But that was then, and he’d since cooled off; besides, she looked kinda…miserable? Aly that was. It was kinda hard to be mad at someone who looked so sincere, it was…kinda awkward. “Look I’m not mad or anything-”
“...unless you were the one doing all that elbowing?” he asked lightly, before shaking his head with a snort, “sorry that was a bad joke, even for me…” he continued, trying to wave off the others guilt. Merlin's bedazzled pink robes, she couldn’t even meet his eye!
“Anyways, jokes aside? Water under the bridge.” If anything he was sorry for almost calling her a harpy right to her face. “Besides, I shoulda expected Ravenclaw to have a mean game in the air… guess that’s why a group of ravens is called an unkindness, huh?” He joked, purposely obnoxious with the bird jokes when she didn’t immediately look up from the ground.
“Thank Merlin your house isn't named after crows. Not sure I wanna know how well I’d fare against a... murder in the air like that.”

The Mistletoe Spin Group #8

Amina had a spring in her steps and a wide grin on her face when she approached the dance floor. Tonight she had decided to branch out a little and thus abandoned her normal horde of Durmstrang students. So, instead of following all her friends she was looking for her new found friend: Aaron. She was ready to fullfil her part of a dare and she couldn’t deny that she was a little curious to catch a glimpse of his boring better half. What better place to do that?
Although she didn’t know anyone, she moved through the crowd as if she was the not so secret queen of this event and if her white sneakers were walking on a red carpet.
It was safe to assume that she was attracting a lot of attention. She hadn't quite stuck to the theme: At least not the official one. Amina's slim body was clad in a ballerina-style costume. The body was tight-fitting and light pink. A bright pink tutu stretched from her waist to her knees, bouncing with every step she took and showing off her toned legs at the same time. The color clashed terribly with her redhead, a contrast that made your eyes water. She looked like a cross between a fairy and a dandelion that had snowed down from the sky into this wondrous winter wonderland.
When the queen-dandelion-fairy reached the dance floor, she had to pause for a moment to admire the scene. Hogwarts was always trying hard to take her breath away, and today they might have succeeded.
The starry sky was reflected in her green eyes as she tilted her head back and looked up, full of admiration and awe. How she would have loved to get on her broom and fly up there... But no, that wasn't why she was here today. She hadn't put on this costume for nothing. No. She wanted to send a sign about a certain dare that needed to be fulfilled. But where was he?
Imagining how Aaron would look when he saw her like that, she scanned the dance floor, a chuckle bubbling up in her.
There! She saw him across the floor, but he was dancing wildly through the crowd and not with his girlfriend, as she had expected. Amina raised her hand to draw his attention and took a step onto the dance floor at the same time. And whoosh, she was whisked away. As if by magic, she was whirled from partner to partner, hands were taken and let go - at first taken aback, she quickly came to terms with the situation. Dancing and people! She could do that. She began to giggle with delight, swinging her arms dramatically in a sweeping gesture as she was whirled around. Amina was simply a show off. She enjoyed it so much that for a moment she completely forgot why she was actually here.
But then the music stopped and she suddenly found herself under a mistletoe with a pretty girl. Was this Aarons girlfriend? Did she look like a flier? She couldn’t help but wonder...
But a game was a game. Amina grinned at her and shrugged. ”I'm not picky.” She spoke Russian on purpose. This could be fun. Then she leant forward and would give the girl a kiss on the cheek if she let her.
If she allowed the kiss, Amina would curtsy mockingly and then beam broadly at her to show that it was all in good fun.
If she didn't accept the kiss, she would (still mockingly) roll her eyes. “You don't know what you're missing.” Here she would even switch to English to fully express the loss for the girl. Then she would shrug her shoulders and wink at the girl before waiting eagerly for the music and dancing to continue. Dancing and kissing. Yep. She was totally in her comfort zone which happened to be just outside the comfort zone of other people.

The Mistletoe Spin Group #8
@Winnie Harper @Dorion Anderson @Evelynn Decipio
Summer camp had finally arrived, a time which was normally filled with joy and drama mixed into one. For Percival, it was one of the few times of the year when he didn't need to keep his guard up. Compared to the rest of the events that happened the summer seemed to keep in its own lane of being a chill kind of vibe instead of being quite tense. That's why, like most students Gray was going to make the most of the opportunity to finally let his hair down.
One of those things was to take part in the mistletoe spin, an event that involved plenty of dancing as well as a kiss to those who got lucky. One thing for sure Percival wasn't planning on kissing anyone, especially with the individuals who were in his group. Evelynn and Dorion were the two who would kill him in a heartbeat and who Gray was hoping to avoid completely. Winnie on the other hand was an exemption. Out of everyone, he was hoping he'd be paired with her so they could know each other some more.
He was unsure about the others, hopefully they wouldn't share the same sentiment as the two crazy witches.
Hesitantly stepping onto the dancefloor, the spell effortlessly took him through the crowd until his hands locked tight with a partner. Almost as if it was by fate, Gray had been paired with a witch who shared resentment for him from the get go. Dorion Anderson stared daggers into his soul and Gray couldn't help but look back with an expression that showed he was ready to take whatever she had saved for him.
"If you're going to punch me, just get it over with..." he said with a sigh while taking a few steps back with his arms outstretched. Percival did not want to waste his energy arguing with a stubborn student who couldn't move on, so the best thing to do was to just get it over with and fulfill their dreams of landing a punch straight into his face.
Action: Let Dorion punch him

A day dreamer was an under exaggeration of Akari and her current state of mind. She always had been, but especially in the last few months it seemed as if though her body might be present, her mind was far from it.
The only things that really seemed to catch her attention as of late was her defensive against the dark arts studies and her kenji of course. Though despite that she found herself back at summer camp, and more importantly back at a ball.
However she could not deny that the feeling of getting ready, putting on a beautiful gown, fixing up her hair, accentuating her best features with a little bit of makeup, was rather fun, and perhaps the whole reason she wanted to attend tonight.
Akari was dressed in a lovely little silk and black chiffon number, with small little floral detailing, a cream coloured skirt, and gloves to match, while her hair was styled in a half up half down fashion.
She wandered into the event eyes immediately drawn to all the decor, the flashy outfits and the ambiance the music was creating, completely unaware of the spellbound dance floor and that she was nearing it inch by inch.
As soon as her foot stepped within the bounds of the tiles she was swept away and without realizing what was happening began dancing away along with others across the floor.
It was then when suddenly the music froze and she was placed in front of another girl, one whom she did not recognize. A weak smile appeared on her face as she gave a polite greeting to the girl. Only then did Akari look up and see a mistletoe branch perched above them. She blinked a few times utterly confused as to what had happened and how a dance suddenly turned into a game of snogging and how she had missed this awfully important part but did not dodge the attempt the girl made to lean forward. As a matter of fact a little bit of colour grew on her cheek as she felt a little peck.
Though not understanding what the girl had said prior she gave a small curtsy in return before looking around still trying to figure out what was going on.
That was when she saw Aaron out of the corner of her eye. Of course he had to be on this exact dance floor. Akari groaned to herself, they had not talked in so long and now she was at risk of meeting him under a mistletoe!? Just let the floor swallow her now!
