║ I looked around, feeling unnerved suddenly. I didn't think it was the magic, or even the nifflers. My suspicion was confirmed when I saw Basil. My blood boiled and I glared from a distance as he flirted with my friend, tripping her and then pretending he hadn't! "Er...Emiline? I'll be right back." I smiled and ran off to meet the rudest person I had ever met.
My blood boiled as I walked closer, and I knew my temper was getting the best of me. I took a deep breath and ignored the boy who was ruining my evening."Hello Devon. It's a fun night isn't it?" I said politely, not really believing what I was saying as there was to much magic. I didn't really want Devon to see me as hostile, so I tried to be friendly. I did think she was an excellent friend after all. Then I looked at Basil. I tried to smile, but it came out as more of a grimace. I'm pretty sure it was more scary then friendly, but I didn't really care. I turned back to Devon. "Um....and I'm really sorry about this." Then I turned around to Basil and punched him in the face.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
Keen eyes observed as peers ingested their respective refreshments. Suspicion coated his features where the mask did not reach with its static expression, namely in his searching irises and slightly down-turned lips.
As he watched the girl with hair of a darker shade Astrid, he felt the prickling sensation of another gaze upon his countenance.
”You don’t like?”
There was a sorrowful tint to the words, drawn from disappointment. A turn of his head brought attention to the wilting expression of the delicate figure beside him Greta, where instinct tugged the strings of his heart, playing an automatic response to comfort.
”It’s not that.” The words lifted with a tone of assurance, pupils wandering slightly as he sought an excuse. Lying was not his forte, but he doubted the truth would salvage her disposition, especially given that she’d already consumed some of her own drink. Only a short pause preceded the half truth. ”I just wanted to know if yours was good first.”
In apparent reply, the other girl spoke up, but her lack of a coherent sentence made him question if she had been speaking to him at all; or if the drink fumes he’d sniffed were somehow enough to transfer its adverse effects. Before he could contemplate the possibilities, however, she indicated her glass and performed a negative gesture with her arms.
Brow raised in understanding, he offered a nod, though his tongue tended toward mischief. ”Quidditch is smart! Until you get knocked over the head with a bludger, that is.” A roguish smile curled on his lips, accompanied by a swift and well-practiced wink.
The comment made only vague sense, which would certainly exacerbate the situation; but he understood what it meant. And what mattered was the affirmation that his mental faculties remained intact.
The stranger of silver locks held a lesser appreciation for his musings. Furthermore, her mounting frustration made it clear that the other girl’s gesture had escaped her understanding.
Though he was unable to place her accent exactly, it was evident that English was not her first language, so he could hardly blame her for the confusion in her voice.
”I think it’s the drinks,” he began, tugged by that same instinct to comfort. But as he went to explain, he felt a sense of awareness. “They’re…” No. Why did he feel as if he owed her something? She wasn’t a part of his life; she was nothing to him. Only a fleeting interaction, drifting into his conscience for a stay that could never last.
He glanced at her expression, drooping like a lost child as she cast her eyes about, and there was a definite pang within his chest. He could see the way her hand wrung anxiously around the glass, and wanted nothing more than to take it gently in his own, to hold it until she felt grounded once more. He harbored no deeper intentions, yet those natural inclinations beckoned him closer to the stranger.
But he stepped away instead.
He wouldn’t allow himself to care. It was exactly such foolish notions which had set him up for failure in the past. He could only fall from the peaks he chose to climb, and heck if the next one he chose was one with unsure footing.
Not again. He was that fool no longer. Now he was the Wolf.
Without another word, he turned to leave, to walk away from the trap. It could not have him tonight.
Thunk.
Before he knew what had happened, the drink in his hand was gone, replaced by a firm grip around his wrist.
”What-“ The hanging question was torn from his lips, as his arm was yanked away from the table. Caught by surprise, his sturdy form was pulled momentarily off-balance, stumbling after the determined force now leading him toward the dance floor. Hazel eyes focused on the collection of cavorting figures, his fears confirmed when she spoke, her voice as full of purpose as her stride.
”No,” he stammered, regaining his balance but still being pulled along like a reluctant dog on a leash. ”I’m really not much of a dancer.”
This was bad. He couldn’t allow himself to entertain those fleeting emotions; he had to escape.
It occurred to him that the grip encircling his wrist, though firm, was far from overpowering. It wouldn’t have been difficult to pry five dainty fingers from their uninvited position, nor to drag the girl’s diminutive frame as a whole straight back to the table. Yet he refused to do so. He simply didn’t have it in him to handle her so roughly. Thus, words would have to suffice.
”I’m no good at dancing. Please, it’s only going to be embarrassing for the both of us.” His complaints bordered on desperation, born partly in the war against his quickening heart as they reached the floor, and azure irises turned on him expectantly. Her chin angled upward, hair falling back as she compensated for the height difference between them.
Eyelids closing, he felt his own head tip back, fighting the urge reciprocate her gaze. His fingers tingled on the hand of the wrist she still held, so he balled them into a fist.
Please… The cry echoed through his conflicted mind, Don’t do this.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
Interacting with: @Violet Rohr
Vasilius hadn't gone to a ball ever since he was 9 years old, he would always find an excuse to skip all the boring pureblood balls which his parents frequently went to, according to him, all the people who enjoyed attending fancy balls filled with gossips were gits but there he was between such kinds of people, all for the sake of Violet, whose request he could never reject and for some reason he was even very excited to go to it with her, the moment he heard of it back in Durmstrang.
As Vasilius looked around for Violet, he finally started getting sight of the other people who were around him, at first it all seemed fine but then realised Vasilius that he had forgotten his mask, one that he had exclusively bought for this occasion, He knew that Violet surely wouldnt be happy if she saw him without a mask, before the boy could do anything, he felt a tap on his shoulder, one that was gentle, as Vasilius turned around, he saw Violet, looking like an angel who had fallen off the sky in her blueish-black dress, he could feel his heart beat as fast as it could while he tried his best to keep his composure. Vasilius awkwardly smiled at Violet as he muttered "Violet, you look stunning", he could feel embarrassment strike deep in him, he had totally made a fool out of himself infront of Violet of all people, Vasilius slowly walked towards a bunch of floating masks as he grabbed a black wolf mask and got back to Violet, in his newly acquired mask,
Vasilius could feel that his actions had left an awkward silence between the two, a type of silence which was very unlikely to happen between the two, Vasilius sighed, "Soo wanna get some drinks? I must apologise for ruining the mood tho" he says as he walks with Violet towards the table filled with drinks, he knew that this excuse to cover up his mistake wouldn't work but he hoped that atleast Violet would understand the situation since she knew how socially awkward he was in public places like Balls,
As Vasilius looked at the different varieties of drinks, his eyes fell on one particular one which he hadn't tried ever since he had last visited Elisa's house, The Cucumber Limeade, a drink that used to be loved by both Vasilius and Elisa when they were young, but little did he know that ever since the betrayal he had caused her, it was not just him but also her too who started avoiding this drink while trying to forget each other, Vasilius slowly picked up a glass of it and took a sip while waiting for Violet pick one for herself.Actions - Snatches a wolf mask at first and later drink the Cucumber Limeade

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
Emiline looked around surprised. The ball had lots of people breathing fire and talking in funny voices. She also noticed some animals scampering around. Nifflers! Oh gosh, thank goodness i didn't choose the sparkly dress. Some unfortunate students were being surrounded by these mischievous creatures. Then she heard a faint voice, Alice's. Immediately, Emiline focused on her. "No, its not normally this crazy." Her eyes quickly scanned the room showing that she cared about Alice. Emiline noticed it was the drinks, the drinks were effecting people. Emiline realised that all this commotion was stressing Alice out. She reached for Alice's hand after she stepped back as an attempt to calm her,but she changed her mind halfway and dropped her hand to her side. Felling slightly dejected.
Alice sat down. "Sorry I didn't notice you weren't enjoying yourself Alice. " She muttered. Emiline saw Alice look up but she didn't seem to hear what she said. Alice's eyes suddenly took on a look of hatred. She quickly followed her glaze to a boy. Alice quickly made her excuses and rushed off towards him. For a moment Emiline wanted to follow Alice but she decided to watch what would happen in case it was a private moment. When Alice arrived to where the boy was standing she exchanged a few words, then turned back towards Emiline. Then punched him! Emiline was suddenly next to Alice. "What did he do? Are you hurt?" The worry clear on her face. She glared at the boy but then went back to checking Alice.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
Speech: #DB7093Thinking about @Matthew Campbell, despite her better judgement.Viva didn't know what to do. Craning her neck to look at the sky, she suddenly felt a prickling behind her eyes. Oh, not again, she groaned miserably to herself. Tears seemed to always come at just the worst moments. It was very inconvenient. Blinking hastily, trying to hold off the flood, Viva pretended to be very interested in the branch just above her, in case any unknowing ball-goers happened to be looking her way. Why, why did things have to be so hard and confusing? Maybe I should just leave. That certainly seemed like the wise thing to do, considering she would probably make herself more miserable by watching all the festivities going on around her, and by watching... a certain couple she had been determinedly not looking at. Viva wondered what they were doing... talking, laughing, holding hands, dancing... who knew? She certainly didn't want to know... or maybe she did. She steeled herself, blinking hastily again and determined not to give in to her curiosity and look in their direction.
She inhaled. Deeply. The lovely floral scent of the tree's blossoms filled her senses, and despite her distress, Viva couldn't help but feel a little more calm. It really was a beautiful night. She gazed at the sky. It wasn't quite dark yet, but she couldn't help it as her thoughts jumped to another time when she had stared up in wonder at the sky... that first night she had met Matthew... No. She musn't think of- him- right now. I really should leave, she thought again. There's nothing for me to do here. But some little inkling of an unknown feeling was telling her to wait... it was strange. Sitting up straighter against the rough bark of the tree, Viva felt a change in the wind as it played with a few whisps of hair that had somehow escaped her updo. She shivered.Action: Sitting beside a tree.Sta 5 | Eva 6 | Str 4 | Wis 7 | Arc 7 | Acc 6 | Lovely Creature

Dancing with Aurélie Duval @Ophelia Northwell
Speech: #cfa120
Thoughts: Italics
OOC Notes: Super sorry this took forever to reply!
Despite the clashing emotions she was battling Emily was still sane enough to smile genuinely as she watched Aurélie dance so brilliantly. Emily knew dancing wasn't her thing but she knew good moves when she saw them. Aurélie stood out better than the other "creative" dancers in the room that's for sure. Wild energy sure does like to manifest in even the most bizarre of dance moves as Emily was observing in the guests around them.
By then Aurélie could sense the perturbing presence of the nifflers. All the same however she couldn't help but admire how composed and collected she was over the situation, at the very least more so than Emily was capable of feeling any time soon. She was lucky to be able to manage in projecting her genuine surprise and intrigue at Aurélie's interest for photography.
"Photography sounds so cool! No doubt it must take a lot of precision with lighting and stuff for photos to turn out good..." She complimented, certainly having respect for Aurélie's patience and dedication. "And I certainly get the patience needed for writing. Sometimes my mind goes so far when I'm daydreaming that it's hard to buckle myself down and get it on the pages!"
The light-hearted banter was a saving grace to an otherwise on-edge experience for the young Hufflepuff. However despite trying to keep the spirits high she could tell Aurélie was still feeling whatever it was that had washed over her when they got their drinks earlier. Emily wasn't going to blame her, not at all. Not quite how she imagined her first dance to be. Emily was always going to be nervous for a first time dance but this was taking the piss with all the twitchiness and lingering agitation.
She laughed nervously at Aurélie's mention of "food." They say food can soak up alcohol and thus render its effects though as much as Emily wanted to test that theory for what she was now calling "fidgety fever," she didn't feel ready in fear of possibly piling up an even worse effect if the food was by any chance contaminated the same way the drinks were.
"I think a snack will be good if I wear myself down with all the dancing," she laughed. "But before the night ends you should take at least one photo. Despite the... interesting events that have happened, it's still been a fun night...!"
Emily wouldn't lie. She was having fun. It was all thanks to Aurélie as well. She was just what she needed, even if Emily was still a bit dazed and confused about everything going on.

Brooke hurriedly glanced around. “What? The bloody-”
Gasping, Brooke saw the niffler frozen to the ground. Now Niffler now this? How the bloody hell? She saw roots grow up the Niffler’s legs. She realized it was the Take Root spell she had read in books. Mentally slapping herself, she slowly turned around to see who would help her.
Glancing around, few minutes past, Brooke caught sight of a platinum blonde haired girl near-by having a piggy-back ride on a tall boy’s back, the girl was speaking to a another boy with brunette hair who was rooted to the ground by the Take Root Spell. “Uffern dân!holy sh•t Are they the ones who casted the spell(s)?” She quietly exclaimed to her very dumbfounded self, her mind going haywire. Older years were such a rare encounter for her, and always to she was left with astonishment and wonder for her role models. For her, sometimes she wished she could soak up all the knowledge and wisdom of the older years, so she could at least try to help the young years when she older. But she wasn’t for that yet.
Turning back to the Niffler, Brooke realized the roots of the little daring thing were rising up its hips. Crouching down to take her bracelet, the roots rose up even more. It freaked her out. She still hadn’t perfected her Take Root spell and it always went haywire. She never liked that. Grasping the bracelet in the Niffler ’s jaws, she hoped this was the end of the chaos of the ball. If it wasn’t she wouldn’t know what she would do.

She still didn't know what had caused her friend to feel such despair, especially since the conversation had shifted to her as soon as she'd arrived. Now that Viva was leaving, it wasn't like Ophelia could run up to her uninvited a second time and ask her what was wrong.
Great going, she grumbled to herself. Back in her Muggle school, her protection and comfort had always been accepted, and Ophelia wasn't used to someone refusing it. Especially someone that she felt close to after their music session. Oh, you can't do anything about it now, can you?
Ophelia turned to Quinn, who still stood by her side. At some point, she'd grabbed a drink for herself. She'd probably invited Ophelia along as well, but the young Northwell had been distracted, tucked away into her thoughts. Shaking herself to clear her head, she smiled at Quinn.
Ophelia hesitated. If Viva hadn't just walked away claiming a headache, if she'd been entirely focused on just having fun, she probably would've suggested that they try out dancing after Quinn finished her drink, whatever it was. But that wasn't the case.
Now that she was so absorbed into her thoughts and worries for her friend, the head-spinning ache in her head that had caused her to not enjoy the Fall Ball was back. She just wanted to leave, go back to her dorm room and sleep. It didn't matter that she'd worked so hard matching her outfit pieces to her peacock theme. It didn't matter because she was exhausted.
"Hey Quinn, I think I'm ready to go. If you'd like to stay, I don't mind, but if not, we could walk back together. What do you say?" Ophelia offered a weak smile that she felt mirrored Viva's one from before perfectly well.
She really did want her friend's company, but she couldn't stay near the loud music and the crowd anymore.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
It was so frustrating not being able to talk properly. Every single word that she was trying to utter came diluted in nonsense. In her mind everything made sense but her mouth wasn't able to correctly say the words resulting in a rumble of random words without meaning. She didn't know whether to feel embarrassed or extremely disturbed with her explosive temper barely being controlled and simply slipping through her fingertips. It was always a real struggle to keep herself under control, to continue behaving in the expected manners when she felt her ears ringing with indignation and a total desire for revenge, to give an adequate response to whoever had this "beautiful" idea to spice up drinks. Now seriously, what a lack of originality and imagination. Every. Single. Ball. Came with this and people were still thinking it was funny?Open to Interactions
Ying huffed showing her discontentment, but her eyes darted towards the boy next to her that was literally filled with excitement and joy, such a contrast to her own mood. When his words reached her, they ignited her already sore ego. "Yes! Let's dance!" He began, and Ying almost felt inclined to start walking to the dance floor, at least maybe she would have fun doing so until the effects of the potion wore off. But his next words stopped her on her track, "But I can barely understand you! You're like a chipmunk" he said laughing at her. Ying slowly looked at him, she actually looked at him, with lips faintly open in surprise and feeling slightly offended. Her dark eyes quickly took in his demeanor from head to toe and back to his laughing face, "Chipmunk..." She mouthed but not really making a sound. Her eyes narrowed on him, a retort already rising in her mind while her lips formed a thin line to keep her words inside. After a few good moments of staring at him with eyes that wanted to burn him into place, Ying sighed through her nose and briefly closed her eyes before looking towards the place where others were dancing and having their moments with friends and acquaintances. She was looking, but not really seeing what was happening, she just wanted to coerce herself to relax, keeping her mood in check with hopes of still being able to find amusement and entertainment in all that.
Akira was still laughing uncontrollably and somehow the corner of her lips were starting to wobble and tagging into a smile. She felt her shoulders fall into a more relaxed stance and her previous indignation was starting to slowly melt into a less bitter sentiment. She felt her friend approach and Bea's delicate fingers rushed to grab the glass that was still in her hand. Ying offered no resistance to her friend who took her drink away and placed it back to one of the tables. The lioness offered her friend a small, grateful smile and a nod, still not daring to say a word. She should have brought a notebook and something to write on it, next time she wouldn't forget that.
Ying rolled her eyes when Akira stated the obvious, that there was something in their drinks. "You don't say genius." She thought sarcastically, but then again, her lips were sealed as if she had fallen victim to a muted curse. But she finally chuckled with amusement, not being able to resist, Akira's laughing was contagious. She gazed at him in time to see him looking at the others present in the stadium as if he was searching for something. Ying followed his gaze and saw a boy carrying a girl over his shoulder while running around the place. The young Gryffindor slightly grimaced at the sight of it and almost imperceptibly, gave a small step away from Akira. Her eyes swept her surroundings and this time she took in more details. There was people dancing with a certain madness on their feet, people laughing as much as Akira and others were looking like fighting against...what was that? She watched with raised eyebrows towards the chaos not sure what to make of it all.
"So, what do you think is the most outrageous thing that you're seeing right now?" Shimizu asked his eyes glowing with all that sudden happiness and amusement. Ying wasn't sure what to reply to him. To be honest, everything she was seeing looked like it was straight out of a book where mischievous little fairies charmed their ball guests into foolish behavior. She considered that idea, and it felt somehow fitting. "I..." She started, but then remembered her state and so considered how to speak. Slowly, and one word at the time would work? "fightthereideanoruin..." She squeaked baring her teeth ultimately irritated with her inability to say a single, simple sentence. "Fine!" She thought, finally losing it, "If you can't fight the chaos, join it!" She decided. Her face still showing a slight frown, Ying gave a step forward and extended her hands towards both her friends, old and new. She sighed with resignation and a small smile appeared in her lips, while her eyes gained a light daring glow, "Dance?" She asked. And realizing she got it right this time, her smile grew and now she was grinning at Beatrice and Akira, her eyes looking between them and waiting if they would want to join her on that ball of madness and joy.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
THE MASQUERADE BALL
Violet was pleased to see how the decorations had turned out, and even more so, to see Vasilius. She had always enjoyed going to dance parties and masquerade balls, even though she was not too fond of interacting with people. She loved to admire the decorations, and lovely couples dancing on the floor. The young Hufflepuff was glad that her best-friend had tagged along.
As her best-friend turned around, Violet was pleasantly shocked. She slightly lifted her mask up, the mask somehow obscuring her view. Just as she thought of complimenting him, Vasilius spoke up, rather awkwardly and the young girl felt heat creeping up her cheeks. "You look amazing yourself, Vasilius.", Violet said smiling at him.
Admiring his looks, Violet had failed to notice Vasilius forgot to bring his mask.
An awkward silence filled up the space between the two, and Violet had nothing to speak. She thought of bringing up the mask, making slight fun over how he forgot to bring a mask to a masquerade ball but the young girl found herself unable to speak.
Such moments, sometimes, felt so peaceful despite being awkward. She could feel her heart beat even though the music was loud enough.
Vasilius was the first one to break the silence. Violet looked at him and complied, speaking up, "Alright, let's go. But I hope you know that momentary silence does not ruin the mood. It is rather peaceful."
The young Hufflepuff happily followed her best-friend through the crowd. Reaching the table of refreshments, she instantly picked up a glass of pumpkin juice, sipping on it and savoring its taste.
