My issue is finding active people to write with

You could also put up a request in the rpg partners request thread that is in the Leaky Cauldron at the counter area. Another thing is you could always owl people if they are someone you would be interested in threading with normally everyone on sight is very kind and very helpful.

i think maybe i need to accept that not everyone has the time to respond quickly? everyone has a life, and it’s easy to forget sometimes…

It's understandable when you are excited to grow your character and have ideas. I defiantly encourage you to go and put out a request but also owling others would not be any harm either as well. The site can be overwhelming at first but it is very welcoming and many members are very kind and understanding as well.
