The early September air was crisp but not cold, the Scottish sun illuminating the yellowing leaves of the trees. Energies were high in Hogwarts Castle, as they always were with the start of a new academic year. New dormmates, new professors, and for the newest batch of first-year students, a new life.

Speaking of the new first-year students, June couldn't help but notice an increase in the goldfish population, mostly headed by Hogwarts' newest class. More and more often she saw enchanted fishbowls hanging from students' sides, or conversations about how large they grew. Was this the new trend? Whatever it was, June felt more pride in being a fish mom than in previous years. Thus, she decided to host Fish Club. Besides, small, inconsequential clubs were always a wonderful starting point for making new acquaintances, right?

As for what to do, Lars' was in desperate need of a larger tank. He and June had grown quite a bit over the last few months, and his new tank looked quite sad in comparison to the one he was moving out of. It was still early in the year, so the likelihood of people having their tanks totally set up was low.

She had posters put up in each common room, hoping it would catch the eye of future fishy friends.

Fish Club

Great Lake
September 8, Noon

Bring your fish and fishtanks for an afternoon of decorating our scaly friends' homes
Light snacks provided

A few blankets were splayed out on the ground near the shore of the lake, with a few plates of biscuits and candies scattered about. June gathered some basic decoration supplies, plants and stones and the like, but anything more elaborate would have to be provided from elsewhere.

June set Lars on the ground in his old, foresty fishbowl. He swam around in what June could only assume was a happy formation. There really was no telling with fish.

♥♥♥ With Nemo in her little fishbowl, Xiomara waddled through the castle and across the grounds until she eventually found where she needed to go. It was kind of hard navigating through such a huge space - especially when her dorm room was in a tower that had so many stairs.

It was harder to navigate through the castle when she was so excited and had the difficult task of trying to carry a fishbowl down all of the stairs without dropping it. She had almost run into at least three people - or rather, they had almost run into her, as she was definitely blaming them! It was a narrow escape! What if those fools had hit her?!

Did she have a carry case for this specific purpose? Yes, yes she did. It was enchanted and everything! However, the poster specifically said to bring the fishtank for decorating purposes, so the eleven year old did just that. If nothing else, she was a stickler for following the very clear guidelines! This resulted in her carrying her open fishtank - which was a rather empty fishbowl - down a ton of stairs and through the halls until she reached the grass.

But little could quell her excitement - there was an official fish club!

When she had gotten the fish, she had not been all that thrilled. It was a decision made out of stubbornness and a slight temper. However, having Nemo had really grown on her over the past couple of months. It seemed like more people than she realised had a fish! Her Head of House even seemed to have one, though she should have probably guessed that already! Xiomara had slipped a note under his door saying:
Dear Professor,

Did you see the Fish Club poster that is in the Common Room? I think it's open to everyone, if you wanted to come along? Nemo and I will be there, of course.

Xiomara Torres

Who knew fish were cool? Not her but little Nemo was growing on her, even if she could not cuddle her.

Xiomara wondered around for a while, not entirely sure where she was meant to go. The lake was pretty huge, after all. However, she eventually spotted a figure in the distance with what looked like a fishbowl in front of them. Heading over, she grinned, "OH! Hey! Uh - is this the uh Fish Club?" She asked, looking down at the fishbowl as though it wasn't super obvious. Yes, it was probably a very stupid question but she had to be sure. What if this was just someone who enjoyed taking their fish out for a walk or having a quiet picnic with their fish?

She waited for permission but would sit down if June gave the affirmative. "Oh - and this is Nemo! I think she's a girl! What's yours called?" She asked with a smile as she looked at the other girl's fishbowl. Xiomara's bowl was... pretty lacking, in truth. She felt a bit awkward seeing how blank it was but she did not realise she was meant to add foliage into the bowl!

Marcus did not pay much attention to the bulletin board in the Ravenclaw Common Room. It was mainly used for sports signups or student events and clubs, nothing for him to take any specific interest in. He trusted that the Prefects would action and alert him to anything that shouldn't be there. So when a little note appeared in his office on September 7th, it was the first he was hearing about "Fish Club."

It was a concept he had never considered - that there may be a club of students who wanted to bond over having pet fish. Other pets made more sense - they could bring cats or ferrets or owls together and the pets could interact, but fish? As he held the note from @Xiomara Torres, his eyes went over to the fishtank in his office. The tank was huge - far bigger than it needed to be for the lone Golden Veiltail that swam inside - but it was amply decorated to provide enrichment for her. Momo had reached a rather large size in that tank - 31 centimeters, last he checked. Although the tank had plenty of castles and plant life and she interacted with Marcus all the time, she was still just one creature inside. So despite the fact he had done plenty of research into Veiltails when he got her, confirming they were perfectly okay being alone in a tank, he couldn't help wondering if-

Maybe she wanted fish friends?

So the next day, at noon, Marcus could be found walking across the grounds with a satchel over his shoulder and an enormous fish carrying case in his arms. He'd had to engorgio the case a bit to accommodate Momo's size.

"Ms Torres, and Ms... Selwyn, is it?" he greeted, offering a small smile and a nod of his head. "May I?" he gestured to one of the empty blankets near them. When he got a go-ahead from at least one of them, he would set down the enormous carrying case, putting Momo on full display. "This is Momo. I thought she might like to make some friends," Marcus said, lowering himself to the ground next to his carrying case. He sat on his knees in a familiar and comfortable sitting position.

The Blasian man was wearing dark suit pieces as always, but he had shed his formal jacket and was wearing a light-blue button up which had its sleeves pushed up to his elbows. No tie today. He hoped to mitigate his own intimidation factor - being a staff member and all. He had already spent an hour that morning wondering if students would even want staff to come to this thing, but Xiomara's note and Momo's possible desire for friends had managed to get him here.

"Her tank is embedded in my office and didn't particularly need more decorating, so I thought maybe her carrying case could be decorated? She doesn't use it much, but maybe she will for Fish Club," he explained. His eyes had been lingering on his own pet, but now he looked at the young students' fish. Xiomara's fish was called Nemo (he knew this not only from the note she left, but also because it had come up in a conversation with Martina just a few weeks ago in Ireland), but he was unfamiliar with the young Slytherin and her fish.
Marcus' Intimidation is always in effect. He cannot turn it off.
It is a sentiment that enters people's hearts when they are in your presence. They feel dis-ease when you are present, even if the interaction is casual or even friendly.

Nate took the stairs two at a time as it finally slotted into the correct landing. He felt it would take him a couple days more and he'll finally get the whole Hogwarts traversal situation in its entirety.

Hopefully.

As it was, he was a couple of minutes late to the agreed time when Fish Club was meeting by the Great Lake.

He was pleasantly surprised when he saw the poster by his common room. Nate was under the impression that cats, owls, and even toads were a more popular category of pets for the wizarding students of Hogwarts, but now that he thought about it, throughout the short time he has been here since the start of the school year, he had noticed a lot of people carrying Golden Veiltails like his beloved Pisce. The said fish blew bubbles at him in cheerful glee as he strode through the grass.

They were apparently going to be decorating their fishtanks this time, and admittedly, Pisce's carry-able fishbowl left much to be desired. The crystal-clear glass was empty and spotless save for a tiny chip on the lip of the bowl where he had accidentally dropped a planet-modelled marble on it in his attempt to show it to Pisce up close.

Games you could play with your fish pet were few and far between, but he loved him to bits nonetheless.

Inside was a different story, however. A NASA astronaut action figure was glued to the bottom of the bowl with a miniature American flag in one of its tiny hands. The sand that made up a significant layer of the bowl was fine and silvery, made to imitate the surface of the moon. Pisce with his shimmery gold scales looked like a small shining sun on his own.

Nobody who saw the fishbowl would mistake Nate as anything other than a space nerd.

Though, if he were being honest, that's exactly how he liked things to be; made finding friends with similar interests much easier.

"Pisce, we'll find you some new buddies, don't you even worry about it." Nathaniel hitched his bag higher on his back as the small group of people came into view some distance away, carrying fishbowls of their own. There was a spring in his step as he walked closer. "Hello, everyone! I hope I wasn't too late! I brought stickers!" He called from afar.

Rummaging in his bag as he moved, he failed to notice the adult among them, freezing when he finally did.

"O-Oh. Professor Iwasaki. Hello to you, too." Nate's eyes widened a tiny bit as he came to a stop before the trio.

The man was tall and imposing, and if he were being honest, a little scary. He has only met his Head of House a few times since he had been sorted into Ravenclaw, and he thought the man had a no-nonsense air to him. Normally that wouldn't be a problem; Nate liked logical adults like his dad—people he can talk to and can be assured would not talk down to him.

Something about his Head of House just… unsettled him.

This, however, is minimized by the fact Professor Iwasaki seemed to be carrying a fish bowl of his own. He gasped softly. "I didn't know you had a fish!"
