Idk school systems are weird
So my first school was-- yeah, but I knew there were other schools like it. Elementary School went from Preschool to Fifth Grade (most if I'm remembering correctly, start at Kindergarten). Middle School was Sixth Grade to Eighth Grade. High School was Ninth to Twelfth Grade. I started at the age of 3, but I became 4. That was preschool.
I remember my fifth grade graduation vividly. There were only like 6 people in it.
When it was January in 2017 (I was 7th grade), we switched schools. The elementary school there is from Kindergarten to Third Grade. The middle school is from Fourth grade to Sixth grade. The Junior High was from Seventh to Eighth. The high school was ninth to twelfth.
My graduating class with this school was much bigger. Near 180-200 iirc.
Primary school, we had around 30-ish per class, but only two classes in each year (two classes for P1, two for P2 etc.)
Secondary school was the same but more classes - I wanna say maybe around 10? Again, around 30 each class.
At fourth year in secondary school we were placed in tier classes - the higher tiers meant you excelled at English and Maths - I wasn't in the top class, but I was fairly high up (Smashing at English, crap at maths) - this was partially to determine what kind of papers we would sit at fifth year exams.
Rather than a seventh year like H.io has, we call it Lower sixth (6th year) and Upper sixth (seventh year) = L6 for AS Levels half the content of a full A-Level, U6 for A-Levels.
Primary school (7-12)'s really a lot of people. Around 30-40 people per class. Some even go to 50, but I think there's only 1 class. very big competition. There's UPSR and UASA, for the 12 y/os (or so-called standard 6)
Secondary school (13-17)'s lesser people. Around 30 in every class. I'm considered lucky because I'm in an international school, so I don't need to learn my country's language (that no one literally wants to use it). Instead, there's Checkpoint Exam for the Year 9s (15 y/o) and SPM and IGCSE for Year 11s (17 y/o). That's what I know for now, because i'm not over 17 yet
