Geneviève listened intently as she swirled her index finger around the rim of her teacup as Alphonse described his sports feats on his former team in Castelobruxo and now with his new position that he played for Ilvermorny. She wasn't truly a fan of Quidditch but her brothers played enough that she knew well about the positions. Studying his form and his size, she figured that a Beater was more suited for him than that of a Chaser. Her brother's liked to talk about the builds of other players and while she loved them dearly, she did agree that if you were not lithe or smaller- it was likely that you would have a harder time keeping up with the other chasers on the pitch because of the added weight to one's broom.

"Moi? Non- I do not participate in any sport here the Academie. But I am versed in Ballet and I am a figure skater. I do not possess the full interest or the ability to fly well on a broom, but I watch my brothers do so." Geneviève explained as she refilled her cup and made to fill his own. The tartness of the green tea was perfect in all its senses and she found herself needing it more and more as they talked.

Alphonse must have read her mind as his next question was geared towards her brothers. She smiled, slightly embarrassed and thought about the three of them that were eagerly waiting for her next letter and visit home.

"My brothers? Ah- I have three. My oldest, Édouard is next in line for my Father's position as Baron of Yvoire. He spoils me and tends to grow overly cautious of me since I am the only one in school and my mother is no longer with us in Yvoire. While the other two are simply my older brothers. Jean seeks to work in the French Ministry. Though I always wonder what job he could gather. He is talented but..." She stopped as she made a slight face "He still quite immature and greedy for power. Raphael wishes to play for a professional Quidditch team- he is a Keeper." She smiles as she thinks about her older brothers. Alphonse countered with the description of his twin brother, and his mother.

Family was quite finicky though. She had her own qualms about her mother sometimes. Oh she loved her mother dearly, and knew that her choice to leave for her true love but she always did wish that her mother had stayed around a little longer. She didn't mention it just yet.

The well-rounded trips to Spain were quite a plus however. She did like lounging in the warm Spanish sun, and diving across the cliffs with her brothers.

"Ah! A tourist area? That is my town too- Yvoire is at most muggle, but many French wizarding families live there in holiday houses." She beamed as they found out how their hometowns were very similar save for their vastly different populations. She'd always wanted to visit the Carribean and it seemed that now perhaps, she would have a better excuse when she requested the desitination for Summer holiday.

"The Carribean is so beautiful. I have yet to visit but I have heard it is gorgeous. I love swimming and diving. Is France the farthest you;ve been from home?" She asked politely as she sipped her tea. She then had a thought and put her tea down, slightly pushing it away from her.

"Forgive me if I'm wrong... But did they not mention that there was poison in some of these teas?" She asked as she looked around at some of the chaos occuring around them.

xxxxx As the spiked snacks and drinks began to spread about throughout the room, chaos would begin to erupt. Would the students and other adults be able to figure out the problem?

@Emery Albrecht and @Aulis Vorozheykin
Reducio
Emery: 6, Aulis: 3

The spiked drinks took their toll, but it was not too disastrous of a result. The sips of fire whiskey that was imbibed would make Emery find themselves speaking in a French accent, the accent of love and lovers, while Aulis would find himself speaking only in poetry. Perhaps a strange dynamic could form between the two eastern headmasters.

@Louisa McStately
Reducio
d!20, result: 18>10

With her keen eyes, Louisa would notice something that not a single other person would notice, that the fake assassin had chosen a victim, and the deed was done. She would see him leave behind the doors after nodding to Headmaster Emery.

@Meyra Lancaster
Reducio
d10: 3; poetry only

Meyra would find themself in the same situation as the headmaster of Koldovstoretz, the words in her mouth would come out different than what was truly in her head, as poetry. Would she be able to communicate ever again? Well, that would depend on her ability to speak poetry, perhaps.

@Remedy Norden as Alphonse
Reducio
d!roll 10: 10, actual love potion

Out of the entire room, Alphonse was lucky or unlucky as one decided, doubly so. First, the spiked item that he consumed, was the one of few items spiked with actual love potion, so for remainder of the day, he would fall in love with the first person in front of him, which was in this case, Genevieve Caussade.@Siobhan McCarthy
The second lucky or unlucky nature of his experience in Beauxbatons was that he was chosen to be the “murder” victim, and he would in about 15 minutes, fall to the ground asleep. After the end of the party, though he would wake up, as Emery would never let any of his shenanigans truly hurt anyone.

@Emily Shephard
Reducio
d!10:6

Emily Shephard’s snacks were also spiked, and lucky for her she would be plagued only with speaking solely in a French accent for the rest of the day. There would not be as much of a drama with her occurrences with spiking today.

@Aurelia Valentine
Reducio
d10: 6, d10: 7

Aurelia Valentine would sadly find herself dosed twice with wrongly brewed potions. She would find herself not only speaking solely in a French accent due to her snacks but also finding herself nauseous because of her earl grey tea. Hopefully she could find some ginger later to calm her nausea.

𝓛yanna remembered the times her parents took her to luxurious tea parties at the houses of some of their richer colleagues. At the time she'd assumed that adults simply liked that sort of thing, the things that would bore small children to death, but it was actually only because those richer families wanted to show off about the fact that they were having a tea party with people who actually understood the principles of life. Quite strange if you think about it, really, Lyanna always thought.

That was the déjà vu that slipped into Lyanna's mind when she glanced around the room, at the people in pretty outfits conversing as if they were much older than they actually were. It was rather amusing to watch from a distance. The lovebirds, the frenemies, or simply just the enemies and the friends, the shy souls too introverted to say a word to their crush, the people who felt uncomfortable being there in an environment like that one- and then there was Lyanna. The girl who didn't know if she should be happy or sad, because she'd discovered less than two months ago that her mother was probably dead. She knew it was probably true, but still never let go of the word probably.

Despite all that though, her best friend's reaction to her arrival still made a smile crawl up onto her face, a smile she didn't know she had in her. "Av, you're right, it is strange to think about how many people chose to attend, but I finally found you and that's what matters!" Lyanna replied, this time her face not reflecting the excitement she tried to put in her words. "I'd love to sit with you guys, has the play been going on for a long time already?" She couldn't deny that having an amazing friend like Avery helped getting through hard times like these so much more, like someone helping you carry the wait even though they're not the ones involved in the story yet.

As a girl apparently called Pamela, Pamela Graham, spoke up introducing herself and asking about abraxans for some reason, Lyanna smiled politely and answered, "I believe abraxans are giant flying horses, rather like pegasuses. Pegususes? Pegasi? Oh well, you get my point," she finished awkwardly, making sure the girl understood that her too-overly extraverted introduction was a bit forced, the sad glint in her eye had come back. "Nice to meet you Pam- if you don't mind me calling you that. I like your dress by the way, it's very pretty," Lyanna finished, gesturing kindly at the girl's dress, hoping to recover from her not-so-amazing first impression.

Turning her attention towards the play again, she had to admit it wasn't necessarily eye-catching but not bad either. The music was pretty at least. Other than that, Lyanna noticed that the two first years who had been with them just seconds ago, had gone. Strangely she must've been too deep in thought to even notice, but as she scanned the crowd in the nicely French-adorned room she spotted the Ravenclaw one with a streak of dark blue in her hair- sulking? The girl didn't look too happy at least, and the other girl was no where to be seen. Was that the reason why Pam had asked about abraxans? Did they have something to do with it? Huh, strange, she couldn't help thinking to herself, I hope they don't ruin they're friendship. That would've been a pity, after all the tea party was supposed to be a place of fun and a reunion between friends all over the world.

Right?

As Lyanna looked around some more, she noticed that some odd things were happening. Someone that seemed to have drunk something spiked with love potion, a girl whom she recognized from Flourish and Blotts—another Hufflepuff first year—seemed to be rather nauseous to say the least, and a few others seemed to be affected by the food and drink as well. Was there something off about the party, or was she just imagining things?

At first, it was the scent of the fruit juice that Geneviève would so kindly refill that caught his attention. It was a lovely scent, but not a fragrant that the Toussaint boy expected to emanate from the tea. Not wanting to appear rude to her hospitality, Alphonse took a sip. It burned raw in his throat like paint stripper at her mention of poison. His dark gaze lingered on the red liquid while swishing it in the crystal glass in a silent contemplation; surely not would the faculty condone such a dreadful possibility, so Alphonse would hope.

"Surely the only poison in the teas is all the sugar," he jested, bringing the rim to lips once more, flashing his signature lethally charming smile after it went down the hatch once more to ease her worries, "I'm sure everything is under control, yeah?"

A comfortable smile found his lips as the boy attempted to observe bits of the droning play at the front of the hall while engrossed in Geneviève and her words regarding hobbies, hometowns, and brothers. Some words uttered from her lips were lost on him — the main being the mention of her elder brother, Édouard, and his being next in line for baronhood; what the hell was a baron? Daring not to ask as not to risk losing rapport with Geneviève, Alphonse took a mental note to ask his parents later.

The boisterous boy would soon realize that anything the French debutant would say would enrapture the Toussaint progeny's full attention as a warmth slowly spread through his chest, immense and otherworldly adoration had begun to coax the dark recesses of his mind. Weaving and embedding in his thoughts was also deep admiration that felt so unlike the boy as his dark gaze once again fell upon Geneviève. Candlelight played across her features and her blue eyes reflected the flames flickering from the table centerpiece, softening them into icy sapphires, and for a moment, Alphonse was struck by just how beautiful she was.

His breath caught in his throat as the boy subconsciously moved closer, drawn by something unspeakable and unknown.

"Geneviève," the Toussaint boy muttered as his heart hammered against his ribs upon catching a glimpse of the tiny flecks of ice in her eyes. Next in his line of sight were Geneviève's soft lips, and the world seemed to tilt slightly. Could he? They were slightly parted, and he found himself wondering what would happen if he got just a little closer.

"I've never met anyone quite as radiant as you," Alphonse breathed with a hazy yet warm smile, "but when you smile, I swear my world stops. Meeting you has been like a big breath of fresh air."

From his lips sung pretty words that were not his own, induced by something that now controlled his body like a sickening, love-struck puppet, but did not quite control his mind. Behind the besotted facade was him, like a backseat passenger in his own body; was this the poison that Geneviève had mentioned? Would she want anything to do with him now?

Time had escaped him, and suddenly everything—the air, his limbs, his head—all felt weighted down.

"Genie—" Alphonse muttered, before his body grew limp, slipping from the chair and crashing to the ground in a deep, spell-bound slumber.

Avery was confused. One second Mateo was there, and the next? Well, he had just got up and left without a word. Avery had no idea why. She didn't think anything was wrong, but she turned her attention away from him. He could do what he wanted. Though, Avery did want to get to know him better. Especially if they were probably going to go to the ball as friends together. Though, there was always later for that. Right now? It was party time.

Avery shrugged her shoulders when her best friend Lya asked if the play had been going on long. "Honestly? I just noticed that there was a play." Avery laughed lightly at her own cluelessness. She had been so caught up in talking to her friends that she hadn't even realized that there was a play. That's when Avery decided to take a good look at the room and was surprised to find that some of the drinks must have been spiked with something. Not good. Well, at least Avery hadn't gotten a drink yet. Whatever was in the drinks, most likely a love potion of some sort since it was Valentine's Day, didn't sound fun to deal with.

Avery nodded when Lya said Abraxans were basically giant Pegasi. "Yep. I've never seen one in person before, but I've seen them in books. They're beautiful."

Geneviève continued to ramble as she refilled both their cups again and was about to take another sip when she noticed Alphonse's reaction to the tea she had poured only minutes ago when they were talking. Instead of taking another sip, she placed the cup down and didn't take another sip, for fear that something may be wrong. Her face contorted in confusion as she looked at her new friend with concern. He looked as though he had just had a combination of the most bitter and most spicy drink in his life. However instead of continuing his look, he smiled at her and made a gentle quip about the dangers of sugar which made her giggle inadvertantly. He was so funny, handsome and kind- she could feel her heart flutter whenever he looked at her or spoke. She felt that perhaps she was genuinely starting to fall for him, even though they had just met. It was a fairytale- a dream come true. And she was over the moon to be experiencing it. She wondered if maybe he felt the same way since he was talking too her so smoothly and so sweetly. His eyes, she could see, held nothing but kindness and perhaps slight mischief but nothing unkind.

It was sweet and she blushed at nearly everything that was happening whenever one of them talked.

She looked around at the scenery when his next words drew her back in faster than a comet could circle the Earth.

"I've never met anyone quite as radiant as you, but when you smile, I swear my world stops. Meeting you has been like a big breath of fresh air."

His words sent her normally pure porcelain skin into a rosy shade of pink. Her gloved hands came up to cover her face in shyness as he spoke. Never had words so sweet been spoken to her by someone who wasn't a member of her own family. Especially from a boy. It made her heart flutter emotionally and she tried to think of a coherent response that wasn't just her gaping like a fish. It was quite unladylike.

She tried to come up with something to respond to such words like his, but nothing she think of seemed to match anything that he said. She was a breath of fresh air to him? Well he was the warmth of the sun to her- Her radiancy? Only pronounced by his gentleness. She let out a breathy sigh and stared at him with a cosmos in her eyes as she just felt that staring might convey how she felt without having to say anything. She just gazed at him as she tried to psychically explain everything she was feeling while her mouth wouldn't.

Finally after a few minutes when she managed to find the words she wanted to say, Alphonse swayed and muttered her name before passing out. A beat passed- two-

And she shrieked.

"ALphonse?! Alphonse! Oh no no no no!" She cried in nervousness as she tried to shake him awake. However it was no use, he was out cold. She sniffed the tea and was overwhelmed with loud sense of cologne, the faint smell of cinnamon rolls, and... mint toothpaste? What an odd combination for tea- Especially given that her tea smelled nothing like it.

She looked at Alphonse as she bit her lip out of worry. He didn't seem sick just unconscious.... She gently stood, planning to look for an adult who might be able to help but she didn't want to leac him alone. Instead, she took her handkerchief from the confines of her dress pocket and gave it a soft kiss, imprinting her lipstick on it. The handkerchief was a soft cream color, and made of gentle cotton with her initials embroidered in the corner. She gently tucked it in his collar and stood up- wandering away to find an adult to help Alphonse.

Taking a sip of her tea, Aiko was pleasantly surprised when she found the headmistress of the hosting school, Célestine walk her way. She made sure to quickly finish swallowing her tea as Célestine spoke, years of lessons on manners drilled into her head. Setting the teacup and saucer down, she stood and bowed slightly to Célestine. “Thank you for the invitation. It’s quite a lovely place, so colorful and elegant.”

Aiko’s hand swept out beside her as she settled back. “Of course, please do. I was just admiring your beautiful gardens. Do your students work in them?” Aiko asked, knowing that her students had formed a gardening club and curious if other schools had something similar. They were from different areas, but it would make sense if there were a variety of interests among the student body.

Grinning, Aiko said, “We have gardens as well, but not like this. Some of our students enjoy gardening and the gardening club they’ve created is in charge of a temple space that others can visit.” Aiko left out the bit about it being where their werewolf students went or the uniqueness of it being in a volcano crater, because she was cognizant of protecting some of their schools secrets, at least until the other schools came to visit. With the more open acceptance of visits between the school, that would likely make those barriers tumble down. Students always seemed to find those hidden gems and secrets.
