Opeila winced when her spell missed the spider, only to nearly hit a different spider- why were there spiders everywhere?- but at least it made her former goblet run away. That would be the last piece of furniture she would touch at this ball- or food for that matter. Who on earth had prepared this and thought it was fun? It was still a good month's time until Halloween so no one would be remotely prepared to be attacked by their goblet! Not to mention that the beverage would leave wonderful red stains on clothes...
Slowly a small group of people would walk over, students she would recognize from her own school, even though the potion made her take a few moments, as well as people she had never met in her life? Enemies? No, kids. Kids could be enemies though, right? Did any of them look as though they were going to attack her? No, not particularly. Only one kid held something small and black in his hand, the other... was holding George's. After this disastrous detention, she would not forget him all that quickly.
George's words however were a different matter. A box? What box? Her gaze moved back to the black thing in the younger boy's hand. Was that this box? Why ever would a student she had never met deliver a box to her, that didn't seem to make much sense, did it? When Opeila was focused enough again to realize that there had been another child, said child had run away already- why? Had something happened? Was anyone in danger?
Slowly Opeila got unsettled. The young Slytherin got back to her feet and hesitantly hold out her hand for the box. "Can I see?"
Opeila would take the box from Gideon and have a look at the note first. The anonymous, weird note, that under the influence of the potion would unsettle her even more. Who sent this to her? Suddenly everyone, the whole group seemed suspicious- where did everyone com from, how was it that a whole group of people would just deliver a box to her?
The young Slytherin would clasp the little black box tightly, press it against her chest and eye the students around her, before she would take a few steps back. "Excuse me." Then she would turn and run.

Word Count: 209 Mention: @Clair Fernandez as River Fayre, @Sophia Nelson as Ayako Yamamura Date: October 8th 2022The Hogwarts Courtyard was packed with people when Chiaki went to enter. Many things were happening, and there were so so so many people around. Too many people.
Ayako was nowhere to be seen. Neither was her date. Chiaki really desperately wanted to run. But she'd feel bad leaving her date behind, wherever she was. Unless she'd been stood up...
No. Chiaki shook her head as subtly as she could, trying to get rid of the thought. Smoothing out her dress, she looked around for any signs of the Beauxbatons student as she tentatively edged around the courtyard. However, amongst all the various faces, it was difficult to spot any in particular.
It seemed almost hopeless that she would be able to find anyone in the crowds. At this point, leaving seemed more desirable.
No, she thought. Ayako would want you to stay. Be brave. You can do it.
Taking another deep breath, she slyly wove through the crowds until she stumbled across the table laden with food. At the end lay a large wooden bucket of apples, and Chiaki almost heard her own stomach rumble. It was worth taking some food while she could.
Scooping one of the apples from the bucket, she continued her quest to find River Fayre.ReducioAction: Eating apple and finding RiverStats:

【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】The courtyard was truly radiant tonight.
Gem stopped beside a tree and looked around in earnest. The moonlight looked like liquid silver. It covered every surface, submerging the ball-goers in an iridescent glow. Actual, real-life faeries darted around the clearing, buzzing squeakily. Gem had arrived in a different fashion than at the last ball. She lacked a date, for instance. Instead, she was accompanied by--
"Tally ho! Cather has joined the party!" A pink haired girl clanked over. Her older sister was dressed in a full set of knight's armor, complete with a shining silver sword. "Tally ho?" Gem snorted. "What?"
"Isn't that period appropriate, or whatever?" Cath blew a strand of hair out of her eyes. "Thought you were the resident nerd."
Gem rolled her eyes. "Who are you supposed to be?" she asked.
Cath shrugged. "No idea. I just wanted to carry a sword around, you know how it is."
"Always up for a fight, I see," said Marcie, slinking alongside them. She was decked out in a stunning black and green gown that Gem was certain she had sewn herself. The blonde turned to Gem and nonchalantly flared her cloak out into the night air. "I'm dressed as the thirteenth fairy from Sleeping Beauty. Note the thorns and roses theme-- the colors took forever to get just right."
Gem nodded, taking in the intricate golden stitching of the cape and skirt. "I especially love the corset. You've really outdone yourself, Marcie."
Marcie beamed and proudly adjusted the crown of thorns in her hair. "Thank you! I took some of my inspiration from the Sleeping Beauty ballet, right, and--"
"Come on, Webhead!" Cath exclaimed. She yanked her sword from her hip and thrust it forth. "I have apples to bob for, and we haven't got all night. Gemmo, you'll be okay by yourself, right?"
Gem blinked. "Uh, yeah! I'll go and look for my friends. You two go and have fun." She waved as dismissively as she could.
Marcie cackled and eagerly grabbed Cath by the shoulder plate. "Ta-ta!"
The latter yelped as she was dragged away by her friend. "Bye, Gemmo! If we don't see you later, we'll meet up by the--Ow! Okay, okay! Who's the eager one now?"
"By the what?" Gem called, but the two were already long gone. And then she was alone.
Flocks of costumed students dotted the lawn. Gem could recognize several fairy tale faces from here. There was the little mermaid and the sea witch, the Beast, and even Little Red Riding Hood. She noticed quite a few princes and princesses wandering around as well. A brief though flitted through her brain-- would she find a sort of fairy-tale ending tonight? Gem was dressed as a queen, but part of her hoped she would encounter some dashing royal who would sweep her off her feet. All of her friends seemed to be having luck in the love department lately, too.
Gem flushed pink and shook the foolish notion out of her head. She was twelve, for Merlin's sake! The whole idea was too complicated and dauting to even consider. There'd be plenty of time for all that much later down the line. She was perfectly content without dealing with any drama.
A chill swept through the clearing. Gem shivered and rubbed her bare shoulders. Fall weather was much colder here than back home. She took the white fur wrap across her arm and pulled it snug around her shoulders. Time to carry out what she was planning to do in the first place. Find her friends...【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】

Beatrice was late. She swore it always happened this way! She would make a time, have plenty of said time to be ready and then it would literally come down to the last second to have everything done. It didn't help that her perfectionist self wanted to look her best! Thank goodness the Ball wasn't a long walk, only the courtyard. The place, only a few days ago that Bea had sat with her friends to talk about dresses for the Ball. Said dress was the one she had picked out that day, green lace and tulle complimenting her red curls. They were pinned up in some intricate do, curling down her back. It was at this moment, Bea was grateful she had decided to grow her hair out. Perhaps, come next year she would cut it short again? It was a question for another time.
Coming to the Ball entrance, she could just see Monica nervously waiting. Raising a hand, she waved, hoping to catch her friends attention. So many people were there, it was crazy! "Monica! I'm here!" Weaving her way through the crowd, Bea grinned at her friend. "Hello! You look amazing!" Skraele was yet to arrive. "Skraele isn't here yet?" The Puff was probably still getting ready. "Perhaps we could get a drink whilst we wait?"

The courtyard was filling up with people. So many people! Having decided in the space between not full and almost being crushed by people, Agata decided enough was enough and she would actually do what she had come here to do. Dance. Even without a partner, she found herself grinning in absolute delight. Who said you needed someone else to make you happy! It went without saying that this was the place where she belonged. Not in a classroom or even on her broom. It was here, on a dance floor feeling the wind in her face as she whirled across the space, her feet and arms finding a pattern with the music.Roleplaying as: Agata Ríos Matos

Coming to a stop, she looked around for someone, anyone, she knew. She still saw Rual at the refreshment table, along with another Castelobruxo student. She was sure she also spotted Maxim somewhere although he had disappeared in the fray. Shrugging, and also needing a drink after the dancing, Agata took the chance that all would be well at the table. Weaving her way through the crowds, Agata nodded at Rual and the other girl. Catching the end of their conversation, Agata assumed both were students of her own school, although she couldn't quite seem to place where she had seen the other girl. Slipping into Spanish, she greeted both before grabbing a cup of the punch. "Hello. Nice to see you both!" Flushed and bright eyed, she stood still, allowing herself to have a moment of calm after all the movement. Taking a sip of her drink, she fiddled with her poncho, a slight nervousness filling her. Turning to the girl, she held out her hand for an introduction. "Agata Ríos Matos. Pleasure to meet you. You look lovely!" Turning to Raul, she nodded. "I don't think we've officially been introduced. But I remember you from the Welcome Feast. Agata." At that she held her hand out, for him to shake or kiss was up to him. "Thank you, for coming to help." Even though she hated being beholden to someone, lest of all a Correa, who she knew had some special views upon others of lesser blood, Agata still felt it was proper to thank him.

Before Yefim could catch sight of his brawling beauty, Yefim's attention would be drawn by a sound he was becoming familiar with-- Felya's griping. Turning around to where the curses were coming from, he saw the usual black-and-white, but splashed with golden wing decorations. He had seen it before, but Yefim couldn't help but admire it. Felya had given him a customized jacket as well, and he was astonished at his ability to add artistic flair to it. For some reason he was holding a little girl? It would become clearer as he explained that apparently Yefim had been pushing her aside. Frankly he had not been paying enough attention, though he was a bit surprised to hear that Felya cared whether this stranger got hurt. Then again, he was sentimental about a lot of cute things, like Krups, so maybe he had some internal desire to protect defenseless things... weird.
The little brat proved to be pretty annoying anyway, so that was probably why fate decided to land Yefim's hand on her back that day. Felya ought to have realized by now that Yefim was always right, even when it looked like he had no idea what he was doing and just did whatever was right in front of him. Well... that was what he was doing, but it was also pre-ordained... you get the picture. Needing to look for his special person, who little did he know was half-pumpkin at the moment, he would have no time to listen to the squeaker's squawking about what she thought he should do. Like she had any idea how grand his legendary destiny was.
”Mimblewimble.” All she was speaking was nonsense anyway. He had half a mind to cast it at Felya next!

River was late, it had taken a lot longer then she had thought it would to get her hair done. She had begged one of her school mates to help her out. Getting shoulder length hair to braid into something nice enough to go to the ball in was a hard task, which bad taken the Girls a long time to complete.Writing as NPC River Fayre
It had worked out more or less and River felt like she was nice enough looking to go to the ball.
And then getting into her dress had been the next challenge. When there is a billion layers of dress and River was not the most graceful at getting into them. There was lots of grunts, and cursing, but at last River was in the dress. She felt amazing, like a princess.
River had promised herself not to get into any fights tonight, she had promised herself to also be happy, no yelling, no screaming, and NO fighting. For once she was going to have a pleasant night.
She slipped her feet into her shoes and got her wand and put it into her holster that she had put under one layer of her dress, so that it was hidden from sight.
And then she headed towards the ball, there was laughter everywhere, people enjoying themselves. River wanted to be one of them, just for the night she wanted to laugh and dance, eat treats and drink the drinks.
River started to search for her ball date, hopefully Chiaki had not left without her.

Any trace of gooey whatever that stuff was had been expertly cleaned off, leaving not even a crumb behind. Monet's eyes narrowed, noticing that the boy had been reaching for his wand. "Were you.. Did you think I was going to duel you?" She laughed. "Ridiculous. As if."
She huffed as she slipped her wand back into her pocket. "Right, well, maybe use the magic you have for yourself instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off next time and clean up after yourself." The boy examined himself for a moment, seemingly even checking his nails. He can't be serious... His gaze then shifted to Monet herself before toying with his hair. His dyed hair, framing his sharp jawline, which really sold the princely look he was going for (she assumed). Monet playfully rolled her eyes at the boy's half-assed 'thank-you'. "Don't mention it." Her gaze snapped to look him directly in the eyes. "Seriously. Don't."
Monet felt her cheeks redden slightly at the sudden compliment. A gentle smile toyed across her lips as she grabbed the shirt of the dress and waved it slightly, letting it dance a bit in the evening breeze. "It would be a shame, wouldn't it?" The boy had said something in a language Monet didn't understand, and given his slight accent, that could only lead to one possible conclusion. She sighed in relief. "Thank God, you're not one of those Durmstrang assholes. I swear, those guys are everywhere and never know when to shut up."

Throughout her eleven years of living, this has to be the worst day of her life. While it's rather funny for her to think that this HAS to be the worst day of her life, especially since she doesn't know what it's like to be an adult, at this moment in the young brunette's life she honestly believes it's the end of the world. She put so much effort and vulnerability into getting to know someone, and then Thymus just decides not to show up. As she begins to walk up the steps of the Grand Hall a voice called out to her.
"Hey!"
Jannette turned around slowly, It was Rebecca Loops. While the history between him and Jannette is very shoddy, there is an appreciation however from the brunette during this whole interaction, of him, actually trying to speak to her. From observation, the girl looks like an absolute mess: her eyes are completely red, and tears stream down her, and worst of all snot bubbles are now forming from her nose.
"You're leaving- early, The food wasn't that bad, was it?"
While her tears streamed down her face, Jannette couldn't help but give a little smirk. Even in intense situations with Jannette, Rebecca always seemed to just find the right words to say to handle the emotional girl. "Nnnoooo, *sniffle* i' wasn' dah food...*sniffle*"1 she said, rubbing the tears from her eyes on her sleeve. "Quercy, moi da'e *sniffle* didn' show up..."2 She'd then blow her nose on her other sleeve. Athena walked out into the courtyard. Her anxiety levels were through the roof. So many people, and almost all of them were older than her! And everyone had so beautiful clothes! Athena's parents hadn't allowed her to buy anything expensive for the occasion, stating that she would only use it once. And she had been stupid enough to not bring any festive clothing! But luckily, her mom had bought her a dress at a muggle thrift store. It looked pretty good, even though it was a bit torn at places. It was silvery, a bit glittery and almost touched the ground when she wore it. She had tried to fix it best she could with the limited spells she knew. She only had sneakers, but since the dress was so long, it didn't matter, and shewore a crown made of branches with some silver/grey leafs on it that she had "borrowed" from the herbology classroom.
She was actually quite proud of her clothes, even though they were nothing compared to the older students. She hadn't got a date either, but she was only eleven, so it wasn't that weird. She wondered were her friends was, she knew that some of them would be here, but didn't know where to find them.
While searching she noticed all the beautiful decorations. They had really worked hard on this! She walked up to the fountain and touched the frog that was floating on a lily pad. It silently floated away, leaving a trail of ripples after it.
Action: waiting/searching for friends
