After the grave insult Ilvermorny had offered Durstrang immediately upon their arrival, Simza had tread lightly through the days at Hogwarts, on perpetual high alert for whatever the other schools had up their sleeves for each other, because obviously no one could be counted on to behave like civilized people when there were guts and glory on the line. She ate tucked carefully amidst her fellow Durmstrangs and kept mostly to herself as she didn’t have many friends in the first place.

This was all fine by Simza – Hogwarts had a lovely old rehearsal room that was ideal for keeping up with her ballet practice, and with no small amount of requested assistance from her elder quidditch teammates, she had managed to smooth out the unkind effects of waterlog from her secondhand-but-reliable Nimbus, so there was opportunity to explore the Scottish landscape by broom, as well. Failing that – the weather was as mercurial as she herself could be – there was plenty of space to get out of the castle for a run.

The thing is, Simza was far too suspicious a girl to be lulled into a sense of security, false or otherwise. So, when the afternoon of the Blossom Ball arrived, and tensions had been present but mostly unrequited between the four schools now cohabitating closely, the Polish girl’s hackles began to rise about the potential for chaos at the festivities ahead. This tournament had an altruistic mission, but the acrimony of long-held rivalries was, in her estimation, far too alluring a potential to be wasted when mischief was the alternative.

Her concern for the evening, however, was not to outdo her interest in putting herself forth into the Ball as a polished, distinguished, and deeply proud Durmstrang. While she was kind enough, that string of arrogance that seemed to run through the Northern school’s alum had a firm hold inside Simza, and she would defend her school’s reputation to the last.

It was no wonder, then, that her appearance for the evening reflected that pride. Simza’s gown was a confection of stormy blue and oxblood red waves upon which were embroidered ships which bore close resemblance to the one she and her fellows had arrived upon. While her dress had been commissioned by her mother especially for this Ball, at which she was under strict orders to be absolutely nothing less than perfection itself, the motif now served as an unintentional but fitting middle finger to the Ilvermorny contingent for their reprehensible prank. Simza’s hair was pinned back with small white flowers, but otherwise left loose to fall in opulent, copper waves to her waist. She wore the barest trace of makeup, preferring to let her elegant bearing and delicate features speak for themselves.

As she knew few people here, even from amidst her own schoolmates, there was little trouble Simza herself would likely find herself in, however, there was no accounting for the creativity (read: stupidity) of others, and so she entered the Great Hall with no small amount of caution vibrating through her slender shoulders…

…Just in time to see Yefim Rumyantsev deposit the sickly-sweet contents of an entire punchbowl atop the head of a beautifully gowned girl. Well, that didn’t take long at all. The broom-racing 4th year was a menace by anyone’s estimation, and for the life of her, Simza could not muster an ounce of surprise to find the intimidating boy at the centre of such a puerile drama. She also, however, could not deny the preening self-confidence he seemed to move through life in possession of was impressive.

Still, no one was stepping in to see if he could be dissuaded from going any further, although the odds of that slipped away before Simza’s seaglass eyes as his victim hand-delivered him a face-full of soup in retaliation. Simza, if pressed, could come up with less than half a hand’s worth of times she could remember meeting the older boy, but none of those instances gave her any faith that the drama would end there.

Surely, Yefim had friends to step in and stop the boy from escalating this any further? As if an apparition answering her question, Simza felt a brief swell of relief as Valentin Schnell, who she was familiar with from quidditch, approached, was welcomed by Yefim, and then… then the pasta and red sauce flew. Even knowing it was only food, the girl he targeted looked downright gruesome.

If he just kept trying the start an unsuccessful food-fight, Simza thought, he was going to make Durmstrang look ridiculous, and if he did manage to start a food-fight, she was displeased but resolute in the knowledge that she would stand up for a fellow Durmstrang no matter if he’d started the whole Merlin-forsaken mess in the first place. You would think with all the ruthlessness drilled into the students of martial magic, loyalty would be shucked in favour of preservation, but here we are and there she suddenly was, crossing the room towards the soup-covered idiot that was potentially going to be the source of a ruined Ball, and possibly also a ruined gown.

Huffing a sigh, Simza approached the small group with a temerity she didn’t quite feel. She was considerably younger and had really no place to be stepping in, but there was also a voice in the back of her head that sounded suspiciously like her mother insisting she walk away, so naturally she did the opposite.

Sidling over to Yefim, Simza smiled sweetly. Whether he knew her, recognized her, or cared, she wasn’t certain, and it didn’t really matter anyhow.

“Is there plan here, my friend? Or just…” Simza asked in english, gesturing vaguely around at the food-bedecked foreigner girls and their sodden, froofy dresses and pursing her lips, “…making them look like drowned party cakes?”

Another ball... you may as well call them the worse days of the term at this point. Every single event had turned into disaster ever since he arrived at Hogwarts, most of which had been a lasting memory in his mind. Although, during those times he was alone, he never really had a partner to lean on for help. However, this year was to prove a nice change.

This time he was going with a girl he had admired for a long time Santario. If it wasn't for the slugs they would of done this much sooner, but it seemed they had to patiently wait until they could have this moment together. Thankfully, their dream of going to a ball healthy was to come true. It was only a matter of if they'd be in one piece by the end of it.

Both kids deserved to have have a good time after the hell they had been through for the past few months. They had been dragged through the abyss by their heels and came out of it with a stronger bond than ever before. Tonight, he didn't care about himself. All he wanted to do was make sure San had a night to remember. She deserved it more than he did, and that was something he was willing to sacrifice to see her happy.

"Remember San, no matter what happens tonight we'll make it work" He said with a warm smile to his companion for the night. Both kids were slowly making their way to the ball side by side, their fingers interlocked gently "Of course, the ball will probably turn out to be a disaster but this time we can support each other" Gray said softly as they stood in the doorway of the ball, colourful bright lights shining of the right side of Percival's face.

"Yet, it will never change how beautiful you are"

𝕳enri de Bourbon set foot into the lively Great Hall with long confident strides, dressed in an immaculate and decadent three-pieced suit tailored to his frame with complimenting grey and navy blue. His impeccable platinum hair was styled in a wavy side flip, a charming smirk on his face as he weaved through the buzzing crowd and turned heads. Henri's cold and calculating grey eyes scanned the opulent decorations and the lined up tables filled with food, finding immense pleasure in the representative flowers and delicacies of his native country. His gaze fell upon the main ornament of the Blossom Ball--the Goblet of Fire itself, and Henri could almost taste the awaiting glory on his tongue. It was an addictive feeling, an unhealthy obsession since his arrival at Hogwarts.

But he would think, plot and conspire at another time, now was the moment to schmooze with potential acquaintances and enjoy a leisure evening with a beauty on his arm. Speaking of which, it seemed his date Lindsey had yet to arrive, nor did Henri saw any glimpse of his friend Maximilien. What he did notice, however, was the unmistakable silhouette of his cousin Regina...soaked from head to toe and standing awkwardly in front of a shorter red-haired girl. An eyebrow arched as the blond French approached both of them, an amused grin on his lips as he took note of his cousin's predicament.

"My, what have you gotten yourself into, ma chère cousine? my dear cousin" Henri asked with a teasing lilt. "Did somebody choose you as a victim to garner attention? You are in a bit of a désordre mess there."

The Bourbon Heir reached into his suit pocket and pulled out his wand. Drawing the shape of an S in the air, Henri cast the Scouring Charm to clean Regina's appearance.

"Scourgify."

If it succeeded, Henri would pocket his wand turn to the other girl as he extended his hand in a greeting with a handsome smile.

"Henri de Bourbon, enchanté. Nice to meet you. I'm Regina's cousin from Beauxbatons. I was wondering when I would finally meet her lovely new friend she told me about."

“Thank you,” Eun-ji smiled at Lucia. “Apparently my father chose everything this time. I honestly didn’t know he had it in him.” She heard Ye-jun chuckle at the remark so she was pretty sure he agreed with her wholeheartedly. The boy would also thank Lucia for the compliment but he didn’t allow her to take any boxes from him and Eun-ji was honestly okay with that. He was plenty strong to carry them all for couple moments. “Oh, really?…I’ll have to say hi to him later then.” The witch noted when her friend relayed the message from the Slytherin boy. It has been some time since she spoken with Henry but she did like the boy. It would be rude to ignore his gesture even if he was just being polite.

With the initial greetings done, the two cousins finally followed Lucia to the potluck table. Neither of them even managed to open their mouth to reply to their friend when the storm called Samantha Salwis rolled in asking questions of her own. A badly hidden sigh escaped Eun-ji’s lips but it definitely didn’t escape her cousin’s attention. Raising his eyebrows in a clear question Ye-jun turned to her for explanation. “내 후배야/Nae hubaeya.” My hubae (means junior at school/work etc.) She whispered shortly. She’d very much like to explain further but the Ravenclaw had a rule not to speak in different language in front of her friends for longer than absolutely necessary. She didn’t want Lucia to feel alienated because she didn’t understand them. Although this time she probably didn’t even hear the words they said so it should be okay.

At least I don’t have to do all the talking. Eun-ji thought, feeling somewhat relieved once the younger girl piqued her interest in the other Lee and the food he was currently holding. She let Ye-jun introduce himself and explain everything regarding their potluck offering while thinking of a way to escape. To be fair, she should have expected running into Sam here. They always seemed to bump into each other no matter the circumstance or amount of people present. “Also,” There was a slight twitch in her eye once the focus shifted back to her. “I sure hope so but in any case, if something happens…” she turned and pointed at the Healing corner. “You should go there. Those people actually know what they’re doing.” Eun-ji may have been somewhat helpful in the two crisis situations she encountered so far but she was no healer. The people in the tent were. Ye-jun was quick to agree with her on this one though she had a feeling it was a subtle jab at her reckless behaviour as well. He always had issues with that aspect of her personality. Well…upbringing would be more accurate description she supposed.

The following suggestion of dance caught Eun-ji off guard. It shouldn’t have. Samantha already expressed the desire to dance together when they met before the Fall ball. The older girl was just lucky not to run into her until after the tent collapsed. “Well…I do have two excellent dance partners already. I’m sure you’ll have plenty fun dancing with your date. Perhaps next time?” She tried her best to dodge the request without being mean to her housemate. Honestly, why was it so hard to keep distance from this one? “Now, how about we set the food down and think about what to do next? There seems to be much to eplore. You can also try some if you want. I promise it’s good.” Eun-ji suggested but she was mostly looking at Lucia, which was very much intentional.

“Thank you. I mostly chose red so you two wouldn’t lose me in the crowd even if you tried to.” Ye-jun said with a confident grin. It was not true of course. He really liked the suit and only realised its benefit later on but he thought it was somewhat funny. “And don’t worry about the boxes, I appreciate the offer but I can handle it. Passing them onto another person might be a bit risky considering the flow of people here anyway.” The table was not far and he had a steady grip on the food offerings. It would be no trouble to move them without any help from the girls.

In the end, it was Lucia who took the lead and walked them towards the designated table. They only just reached it when someone new suddenly rushed towards them. The young girl looked excited to see his cousin but Ye-jun had a sneaking suspicion that the feeling wasn’t mutual. He looked at the Ravneclaw for explanation but it didn’t turn out to be very helpful. Still, at least he knew they weren't close and it looked like Eun-ji would rather not linger here for too long. Nevertheless, the Hufflepuff introduced the newcomer to him so he felt inclined to introduce himself as well. And so, with his usual confidence, charm and yet some degree of detachment he began to speak. “Lee Ye-jun. I happen to be Eun-ji's cousin.” He informed the younger girl politely. For a moment, he wondered whether to mention his school as well but then thought it might only lead to more questions of which Samantha already seemed to have plenty. Looking down at the boxes however, Ye-jun didn't see any reason why not to explain more. Afterall, it was brought here for others to eat. “It's homemade Korean food. My mother made it and Eun-ji helped...well as much as Hogwarts allowed her to do so.” He shrugged. There was not much else to add. If she wanted to try the food later, she could.

After that brief interaction, Samantha turned her attention back to his cousin. The raven-haired witch shifted uncomfortably but it was subtle enough to miss it if you weren't hyper focused on her body language. Ye-jun let the girls do most of the talking after that. It wasn't until the saving part that he felt the need to intervene. “Yeah because of the family background Eun-ji feels the need to help whenever disaster occurs but she really shouldn't have to. That's why the adults are here, no?” The boy meant it with every fibre of his being. Students weren't supposed to save other students. Sure, sometimes they had no choice but it seemed to happen far too often for school that was once deemed the safest place for young wizards and witches.

The two cousins then let Lucia accept the well-deserved compliments and explain her hair situation to Sam. Ye-jun wasn’t eager to ask any more questions and he agreed with Eun-ji that laying out the food for others to taste would be a good idea right now. He also had a feeling she wanted to subtly imply that they should part ways here but if Samantha wasn’t extremely well versed in social cues, she would most likely completely miss that.

The clicking of heels heralded death. Not that Nicholas was aware of it at the time, high heels were relatively commonplace at balls after all, as girls and young women alike took the opportunity to dress to the nines. The boy had no reason to anticipate the storm that would descend, after all, not until that all too sweet voice spoke. Part of Nicholas, a primal part that he did not understand, found himself drawn to it, but such a base part of his brain was utterly repressed by both rationality and a yet more primaeval instinct, fear. He knew that voice, knew who it belonged to, and instantly he wanted to be anywhere but there.

Erin’s question seemed innocent enough, but Nicholas knew enough to understand that it was absolutely anything but, and his face was overtaken by apprehension, the emotion as crystalline as the goblet before him. Fortunately, it lasted for a moment before he did his best to repress it, only a few heartbeats passing before he answered her question.

He did not know what her fascination was with him and Aurora’s relationship, not that they had one, but he did know that said fascination had begun to eat away at him, “No idea where she is.” The dryness of his throat led the first word to croak.

Nicholas sniffed, rather indignantly, before continuing, “I didn’t have the intention of doing either, to be perfectly honest with you.” What little he could remember of those haughty pureblood functions was summoned back, although he doubted that any of the upper crust of Belfast spoke in quite so stilted tones.

“Just here for the champion announcement, that’s all, nothing more,” He hastened to explain himself, only then daring to turn to look at the blonde.

She was tall, beautiful, and absolutely venomous. Nicholas was Irish, he’d not grown up with snakes, the legend said that they’d been driven out by the isle’s patron saint centuries prior, but he knew when he was looking at a viper. Graceful and dangerous both, and he was her favoured mouse.

“I’m probably not the best to play with,” He tried to reason, “What with the yelling girl being absent and all.”

The gambit was somewhat shameless, but it wasn’t as if it could possibly affect Aurora in any way. And besides, he shouldn’t need to care what did affect the Ravenclaw in any case.

Nicholas’s fists clenched in his pockets, his eyes daring not falter in his glare, “No one to throw me at.”

Marius fully agreed with Annie's opinion that having someone to accompany you in such a huge crowd was such a relief, so he gave her a nod. And then, realising that the fourth year would not be able to see her, he quickly said, "Yes!"

The two entered, and the twelve-year-old unconsciously let out an audible sound of awe upon seeing the whole room. Annie must have clearly heard him, because she proceeded to ask if this was Marius' first ball. "It is," the boy replied, "but I don't really have an idea what to do. I think I just want to meet new people and make new friends."

He did not tell the more senior Hufflepuff, but the truth is, he was a bit nervous. Everything seemed new for Marius, and he really did not want to mess things up, like what people did quite often when performing something for the very first time.

Not knowing what to do, coupled with slight nervousness, had made him thirsty instead of hungry. Therefore, with a shaking voice, he asked Annie if they could grab some drink - surely they have prepared at least good old water.

As the brunette jokingly called him the captain of the pair and linked her arms with his, the Chinese-English boy smiled, but at the same time his level of nervousness increased that his stomach hurt a little. Even though he knew this was a common practice for people with special visual needs, no one had ever done this to him before - and not to say a girl, even if their bond was more like the one between siblings (speaking of that, would someone mistake them as elder sister and younger brother?).

Did Mum have even more butterflies than I do now, and did the now-bunker guy do this before they even date? He wondered, and he wondered, but he was not sure whether he truly wanted to know the answer.

"Good evening, Phaedra," Nigel replied as the fifth year greeted him. As usual, he used given names to call his students; that is, as long as they did not misbehave. Once they did, he would switch to their last names instead. "And sure, I can't see any harm from having my photo taken. Unless you plan to give it to a paparazzi or a gossip writer instead?" The teacher of Astronomy smiled at his own little joke and posed for the school newspaper editor.

With his black suit and Arthur riding on his left shoulder, it was no wonder Phaedra easily spotted the purple pygmy puff; it was such a contrast between the colours, and Arthur did not even try to hide, either.

"Oh, this is Arthur," Nigel answered his student's question. Shifting his right hand to his left shoulder, the young professor signalled for the pygmy puff to move to his palm. Arthur gave
a squeak of understanding and jumped, and his owner handed him to the girl. "Go on. He won't bite or get scared of new people," said the American, smiling. As if to prove his human's statement, Arthur gave Phaedra a friendly squeak and rolled on Nigel's palm without taking off his eyes of the teen.

Before evening leaving American soil, Miles Thatcher had a date to the Blossom Ball or rather Midspring Celebration that would be held at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He had asked fellow Thunderbird, Olive Adair, one morning and she had agreed to be his date.

The date had been acquired, but the course of school dances never did run smoothly, now did they? With step 1 out of the way, there were other things to focus on: attire. If he were off to some sort of charity gala with his parents or some pureblooded event, they'd have something designed and perfectly fitted just for him but he didn't have such a luxury while at school. Sure, he could send measurements off and they could send him something back but it wasn't quite the same sort of production. Miles was pleasantly surprised though when his parents did send him something through the post and now on the night of April 2nd, he was able to look quite presentable for the evening. Quite presentable was what he was expected to be at all times, being one of the pillars that made up pureblood society and all.

But Miles wasn't concerned about being presentable, both in looks or actions that evening. He was eager to spend one of his last days on this trip to Hogwarts, seeing some of the friendships he had made along the way and spending a bit more time with his date. It seemed during their short trip, he barely got the moment to see her much as their schedules always seemed to conflict.

Miles wondered if she was going to bring her sketchpad with her, which she eluded that she would not. That meant he needed to be on his "A Game," both in socializing, manners and presentability, and dancing. He arrived in the Great Hall and scanned the students, soon finding her in a dress the color of the ocean shore back home in the state of Washington. It made him smile. "I hope I haven't kept you waiting long, Ms. Adair," he said, smiling, as he came to face her, not wanting to startle her.

Logan took a step back as her best friend gently shoved her with his shoulder, a laugh leaving her at his thoughts of her having no confidence in him. "I am confident you will be able to make it through this," she told the boy with a grin as she glanced down at Sherlock and his butterfly costume. He was currently playing around with Loki, rolling around on the ground and twisting his costume. The girl only laughed at the sight of the felines. "I am perfectly capable of embarrassing myself. Have you seen me talk to people?" she questioned him with a shake of her head. The girl was awful at talking to people, but she was working on it.

The Hufflepuff glanced over as Henry called out to someone else and nodded her head as he said the girl was on the planning committee with him. With what she had seen, everything looked great. "Absolutely amazing, everything looks great," she told him honestly as she nervously wiped her hands on the skirt of her dress. Who would not be nervous when almost every other ball had ended in disaster. "I do not think I will sign up for either of the games, they make me nervous to be honest. I can just hang around wherever you and... Adlai... decided to hang out at." Logan hoped she had said the girl's name correctly, she was not completely sure and did not want to make a fool of herself once she saw the girl.

Logan slowly glanced around the room, spotting a few people she recognized but mostly people she did not. She almost did not hear her best friend until he was holding out a bag of chocolate chip cookies to her, hearing something about her not being jealous. Her only response was a nod in thanks as she opened the bag and immediately took a bite from one of the cookies. Henry knew her weakness was sweets and clearly he was using it against her. At the mention of her dress, she quickly finished off the cookie and grinned. "Thank you, Aunt Hannah made it for me once the twins told her I was planning to buy a dress from Hogsmeade." Her aunt sent her a very angry letter about how she should not be spending her money on Hogsmeade dresses when she could just be a model for her aunt and wear one of her dresses. It happened all the time and annoyed Logan to no end, but she dealt with it anyway.

The Scottish girl listened closely to Henry as he asked if she was meeting anyone or if she planned on dancing with anyone, she did not have a chance to answer though as a girl began to speak to her best friend, and she assumed it was Adlai. "No, I was not planning on meeting anyone," Logan muttered quietly as she watched Henry respond to the other girl. She had a feeling she was going to be left behind slightly that night, she hoped not, but it was a rough gut feeling.

The Hufflepuff smiled softly at the other girl before giving Henry a tight lipped smile and a shrug, he seemed panicked, but she honestly was not sure what to do either. "It is nice to meet you," Logan said in as strong of a voice as possible. She kept telling herself that she was not going to get jealous of the people that Henry chose to hang out with. With would just spend time with Sherlock and Loki if she had too, the cats were enough company anyway.
