Capture The Jolly Roger
"The game begins in 3...2...1! Go Capture those Flags!"
Pax looked out on the set-up, watching as the chaos began to unfold. There was so much happening at once it was hard to know where to look.
Focusing on the centre, there seemed to be only one who decided to attempt the perilous obstacle course to reach the Golden Jolly Roger. Everett Brooks would make his way over to the course, but fall failure to the first hurdle, being knocked into the water.
ReducioEverett:
DC is 16.
Obstacle 1- 5 (1d20) +10 = 15 (Fail)
Damage- (1d10) 10 x 10 = 100
Everett fails to pass Obstacle 1.
Turning their attention to the Coral Crossbones' ship, they watched as five would approach, and successfully jump across the steps before entering the ship. All of them would successfully emerge with a coral-coloured flag in hand.

Next, Pax turned their attention to the Sapphire Swashbucklers' ship, where another five would be weaving their way in and out of swinging pirate dummies before descending into the ship. However, only four would leave clutching a flag, and one would emerge feeling more battered than before. Upon further inspection, it seemed Rita Su had fallen prone to someone's (accidental or purposeful) attacks. Carefully, Pax helped them onto their broom before speedily flying over to the nurse.

Upon returning from the nurse (and making a mental note to never anger Sophia), Pax found themself watching over a part of the game where only the Sapphire Captain, Edward, had decided to tackle, the Teal Treasure's ship, and emerge victoriously with a teal flag in hand.

Since the action there had quietened down by Teal's ship, Pax watched the action by Lilac Leviathan's ship, where just three had braced the cold water wall to enter. This time, it seemed that the players would have less success, with only one of them exiting with a flag.

Finally, Pax looked over at Pink Parrot's ship, which seemed to be the most popular target for the other teams. Almost all of Coral Crossbones had flocked there, plus a few various others from other teams. However, the most popular target would also prove the hardest to accomplish. Two would fail to spot the sturdy spoke in the turning wheel and fall to their watery doom, and one more would emerge empty-handed.

───•─•────────────────────────────────────•─•───
CORAL CROSSBONES
───•─•────────────────────────────────────•─•───The game was a go! Yipping and glowing with excitement, Greta hopped forward. She already had a target in mind. Given that no specific directive to counter had been given, she was more than content to act upon her whim. Lips spread with an impish grin as she envisioned snatching up every last sapphire flag before Theo could stop her. Destination set, she drove onward, feet hammering her war song on the treated planks.
Of course, she wasn't the only one. Players from all teams had charged into the fray, paths converging and diverging seemingly at random, bodies clashing. More than a few times, she found herself having to duck and swivel just to avoid collision and an untimely flight from a deck before she'd even been able to accomplish anything. But never mind. Before long, the obstacle that barred the path to ultimate treasure loomed before her: a great wheel. Eyes tracked its path as it slowly rotated, making note of the little platforms art regular intervals. Something stirred at the back of her mind, something that suggested there was something about the scene that was a little off. Just over-caution, she reasoned. Yes. It would not do to be too cocky and spoil her chances before getting to the target trove.
She needn't have worried, though. Not that she had. As though it were a partner in a practiced dance, Greta moved effortlessly with the turn of the wheel. In fact, she didn't even bother with the platforms at all. Instead, she hopped from one to the wheel and scurried along its spoked, seemingly effortless in the way she flew across it and hopped off the other side, emerging onto the deck of her friend sworn enemy! To her dismay, there was no Theo in sight. And to her utter confusion, neither were there any flags of the sapphire variety. Every bit of fabric that peaked out at her seemed to be the entirely wrong colour of pink.
"Wait..." Her pattering steps faltered, brows knitting together as she turned on the spot to get her bearings. Another ship over sported the sapphire flags, it's obstacle being a thing beam with swaying pirates. No wonder the wheel had seemed out of place! A hand reached up to smack her forehead. She'd gone the wrong way!
Not to be put off, however, Greta took comfort in the arrival of some familiar faces. Cici being one of them. Even though they weren't on the same team, Greta waved at her, curious to see her progress on the wheel. If anyone could do it, it would b—
"AH!" Greta's shock squeaked forth, hands slapping to cover her mouth as she ran to the edge and watched Cici slip into the drink below. "I thought you were supposed to be the agile one!" she laughed, yelling down a tease at the Horntail's resident circus monkey. With a snort, she turned on her heels to merge with the group. May as well grab a flag while she's here, right?
One such individual (someone that she recognized from her own team, no less) rushed forward quite aggressively, man-handling a younger student. "Hey!" Greta shouted at him. Indignant ire had spiked all the more when she realized that the target had been none other than Bubba, the Hogsnout who never seemed more than a stone's throw away at any moment. "Not to be a mean!" Lips pursed; lines etched themselves defiantly on her brow; and hands balled themselves into little fists at her side. Honestly! Why did some people always have to take things so seriously? It was a game, not a shuntbump competition! "Is to have fun..."
Flashes of anger never lasted long on her visage, and already it was melting away to reveal the pitiful plight beneath. She cast Bubba an apologetically concerned look, worry about whether or not intervention might be needed apparent in her features. It somehow seemed even worse that it was her own teammate that had stolen the flag from him through brute force. Apparently it would not be needed, however. He would be back to ready soon enough, guarding against the next one who would try to distract him (and succeed).
She would face off against someone else, she decided, and opted to run at... some girl. As it happens, River apparently has no physical description in their iNPC ency from which to pull any meaningful descriptions, so purple prose get to be replaced with fourth-wall-breaking nonsense. She was pretty and slight, but did not seem overly athletic (at least from the pictures and stats). Admittedly, Greta had darted in like a cat with every intention to steal a flag, and thinking little of it. The rude awakening would come as the other girl not only managed to match her pace and positioning, but also got the better of her.
A hard shove had pushed her back (or a hit or whatever it happens to be), left the little Norwegian reeling from surprise. She had no chance. Stumbling, feet caught in themselves until she spilled onto the wooden floor. THUD. Never mind friction burns, a large splinter had lodged itself deep into her palm where she'd caught herself in the fall. Instant pain shot up her arm, hand immediately pulled up to her chest to be cradled by the other. Scrambling away with tears rimming her eyes, she kept her direction towards the girl in a rather hopeless attempt to protect herself against any further assault. Or at least to be able to see it coming.
She wasn't about to stick around to let that happen though. Springing to her feet, she raced for the exit off the boat without a backwards glance and hurried back to base, flagless and more than a little deflated.

PINK PARROTS
───•─•────────────────────────────────────•─•───Soon enough, the voice of her co-captain rang out above the din of conspiring crews. The game had started. Evelynn had been tasked to guard their trove, a role she had been more than willing to fulfil. With her keen eyes, she was sure to notice any unscrupulous players attempting to sneak their way onto the boat, and was more than ready to pit herself against them. To be the wall upon which their spirits would break, eventually redirecting them to other ships once all hope for gain was lost.
To that end, Evelynn had equipped herself with a length of rope; and as the bodies started approaching, occupied first with overcoming the first layer of defences that served to guard their sanctuary, she busied herself with tying a knot and preparing her weapon. Once complete, it would resemble something between a lasso and bolas. A means to trip up and defend against scurvy fiends while keeping her own hands (technically) clean.
Except... she would never have the chance. The trick of the game was to maximize profit and minimize loss. It had made sense, then, that those teams who could hold on to their original wares would be best situated to earn the most points possible. Three had been the number of defendants they had appointed. It had seemed like a good idea at the time. A wall of flesh would surely be more effective at turning away itchy fingers than a single individual alone. Right?
Wrong, apparently. Every individual who managed to step their unworthy soles upon their decks ended up diverging for one of her ken. Both McGarry and the Fayre girl receive ample competition. Although, Evelynn supposed she could understand why. The latter had not even managed to protect a single flag, their spoils sacrificed to the wrongful victor. And each time Evelynn attempted to intercede, she found herself barred by her compatriots. In some ways, she may as well not have been there at all. Even still, she could not deny the tenacity with which her teammates had stood their ground.
"A touch excessive, do you not think?" Evelynn asked Fayre when a particularly diminutive girl with wildly untamed blonde hair disembarked with a hand cradled against her sternum. By the quirk of her brow, it could be deduced that while the prefect wasn't exactly chastising, neither was there approval. Then, sliding from the girl to the younger boy, Evelynn would incline her head to McGarry, "You quite alright? It appeared as though you received rather the thrashing there.."Action: As strategized

The air started to thicken and it seemed the start would be announced any second now.
Her solitude ended abruptly as the loudest boy suddenly paid attention to her person. What a mistake. The boy started to give her names. Thank Merlin, Meenauh's inevitable surge and intent to kill on sight was stopped by an innocent girl (earlier introduced herself as Cielle), who casually started a dialogue.
It was a pity that in the next seconds the start was announced and they had to quickly decide who goes where and does what. Meenauh stayed. She didn't feel like going anywhere near water for now, so she waited on their ship. The other Queen stayed on the ship as well, so they divided the perimiter, waiting for the attackers to come.
There were two and Meenauh spotted both instantly. It seemed she had to apply strength, which was new. She blocked the first person, who immediately fell over missing the flag, but another came right after. Another weak application of strength, but enough to allow the attacker descended into the waters.

"Hogwarts," she smiled, "and no, I never played this game or anything similar. I'm still annoyed I can't use my wand, which makes me nervous and that mister doesn't make me feel any better about it," she pointed at Aryaan with her chin and separated from the wall into the direction of the boy.Interacting with Cielle Johansen (@Ivy Bellamy)

And sort of whispered loudly: "I accept the Great Lady of Eternal Silence," she smirked, "It fits my abilities to make people go silent forever," followed by an evil grin.Interacting with Aryaan The Anarchist (@Hui Ming)

"It seemed we did okay?" she said to Kamila after a quick restoration of breath, "Oh, wait, we still one flag down — did we miss a stealer?"Interacting with Kamila Yavlinsky (@Marina Oriel)

In rather a short amount of time, the team gathered round, ideas were thrown into the hopper for consideration, and a plan was formulated. It was determined that Stephen and Kim, the Captain, would both tackle the peach colored ship. He thought he remembered it was called Coral Crossbones. Alliteration was the name of the name the ships game by the organizers it would seem. Cute, but also clever.
As those going forth from his team to steal flags from various ships lined up, Stephen took a few extra glances at the barrier he and his captain would have to conquer in order to get a flag. Most people would likely bounce back and forth between the eight platforms angled at 45°, hovering about six feet over the water, grasping onto each one as they went. He quickly determined that while it was unlikely he, or anyone else for that matter, could get across without grasping onto some of them at some point, he knew momentum was going to equate to success. That meant he would have to come at it with enough speed that he could serpentine across, using gravity to both build and slow his speed.
The real problem, as he saw it, was not the challenge itself but other players getting in the way. The way to factor that variable out of his equation was to beat anyone else going there to the punch, including his captain. He was supposed to be the distraction, so it made sense for him to get there first so that the captain could slip in and get the flag. If he did his job well enough, he would also make a bid to get into the lair to grab a coral flag to bring back to his homebase.
When the start was signaled, Stephen shot off towards the coral ship like a bolt of lighting. He was not the first to arrive, but the other had already fallen into the drink so Stephen leaped on the first platform and serpentined across to great effect. Once outside the enemy lair, he was momentarily surprised to come face to face with the Horntail Horde member who had been in the lavatory and claimed to have seen him cast the bubbles in the prank war. Perhaps in the moment he would not be recognized. The Durmstrang fellow did not have a lot of time to think about anything because Kim, to Stephen's delight, had pretty much followed right on his heels.
It was here that Stephen's basketball maneuvers came in handy in a head to head with the Durmstrang fellow. The dude was big... and fast... but it would not break his way against the Leviathans. Two flags were stolen, one by Stephen and one by Kim. SUCCESS!! Now it was just a matter of holding onto it and getting it back to his lair to be counted.
What a rush!

And it was time to go! With a final salute, Kit would race off to the Teal Ship. The obstacle seemed particularly daunting with a waterfall before the boat and flags, likely causing the boards to be slippery. Despite that, the girl should have been far more worried about the people defending those flags. While getting past the obstacle proved to just be running fast through and putting an arm up to take the brunt of the water, getting a flag was more challenging. The beauxbatons student winced as she saw two others get noticed and attacked back with a flag, but it provided a chance for the girl to quickly grab a flag without being detected. That had been basically luck, panicking a bit when she thought one of them noticed her. But she accomplished her goal, heading back with a flag for her team!
What she hadn't realized was that getting back to her own base would be kind of tricky. She hadn't had to worry about the wheel leaving, but now it was the only way back. Still, somehow Kit managed to figure it out, quickly passing the obstacle and placing the flag in the Pink Parrots' boat. "Mission accomplished! Lilac's scary." But with that, she would begin looking around to see what she should do next.

Sophia made sure her lifejacket was securely in place in case she fell into the water. She still wasn't quite confident in her swimming just yet, and the last thing she wanted to do was to risk drowning or embarrass herself in front of Pax.
She'd discussed a general plan with the team captain, and her role was a simple, yet important one. She was going after the sapphire flag, and she intended to get it one way or another. She couldn't let her team down.
She ran across the central platform as quickly as she could and paused only briefly when she saw the obstacle leading to the Sapphire team's ship.
Pirate dummies, swinging along on a chain and threatening to knock her into the water. Oh geez. She tried to come up with a plan of attack so that she could get to the ship. Even as she planned, she saw a few other students make it through with ease. It was almost like that Karate Kid movie. The one with the girl. She tried to remember how the girl avoided the punching bags in the movie. If she could copy the girl's steps, maybe she stood a chance?
As she tackled the obstacle - figuratively - Sophia didn't quite get the footwork down, but she did manage to miraculously make it through the dummies without falling, so she was thankful.
She rushed as fast as she could into the Sapphire ship and quickly grabbed one of the flags, narrowly avoiding most of the other students on the ship. Unfortunately her luck ran out as she turned to leave, only to collide headfirst into another person!
Sophia had a lot of experience falling, or hitting her head, or getting hurt. She was a very clumsy girl. So the impact hadn't bothered her too terribly much other than a light bump to her noggin, but apparently the other girl hadn't been so lucky. She seemed to be in quite a bit of pain.
Before Sophia could do anything to help the girl, another student bumped into the blue-haired witch and she fell onto the injured girl with all of her weight. It wasn't much weight, given her height, but she still felt bad. Before she could try to help the girl up - and she was certainly going to, despite them being on different teams - she finally saw the other students with the hungry looks in their eyes. She had to get out of there!
Reluctantly, Sophia turned and ran from the ship, clutching the flag tight to her chest until she reached her own team's ship.
Well, at least she'd scored.

Ayako took off in a sprint as she narrowed her focus stubbornly upon her destination: the Coral team's ship. Her feet pounded on the wooden deck as the obstacle came into view. 45 degree angled platforms were the enemy, and she never showed the enemy mercy.
The goal was clear. The enemy was before her. All she had to do was act without hesitation and without mercy, so she did. Ayako got a good running start and jumped toward the first platform, spring boarding off of it with her leg and jumping to the next, and the next, and the next, until at last she felt her feet come back into contact with the wooden deck of the ship. She'd made it, unsurprisingly.
She made her way toward the flags, mindful of any threats.
As it turned out, there was one person guarding the flags, and she was apparently the only one he noticed, because she could see a few other students waltzing away leisurely with the flag.
The boy tried to stop her, but she wasn't a talented Aikido student for nothing. Avoiding his strike was child's play with her mastery over basic footwork, so she avoided it with ease, grabbed a flag, and quickly made her way for the exit, nearly bumping into a young Asian boy - seemingly from Hogwarts.
"Watch where you're going, you fool!" she hissed in Japanese as she turned and ran back to her own ship. It didn't occur to her that she'd even spoken in Japanese, she'd just been frustrated that someone was in her way.
As she returned the Coral flag to her own ship, she nodded triumphantly, preparing for her next move.

Taking off as soon as he possibly could after making sure that he was heading for a flag, Louca kept his eyes on the prize, heading towards the wall of water that blocked the flag from sight. Hesitating just momentarily, Louca took a big breath, making his cheeks puff out as he ran through the chilling water.
It felt like forever as the water pounded his head and shoulders, but eventually he made it to the other side, letting the breath out in a large sigh and inhaling just as big a breath as he kept moving, zagging to the side. He caught sight of someone around the flag, but couldn't tell which team they were on. That was his mistake. He made a grab at one of the flags hanging there, but was unfortunately stopped, and subsequently hurt. Not much but enough to feel the sting, especially as he fell into the water surrounding the ship.
His shoulders drooped even in the water, and he slowly swam back to his own ship, pulling himself out of the water and pushing his hair out of his face. Moving towards his team, he dejectedly said. "Well that did not go well." Looking around, he thought he counted four flags. Smiling a small smile at the victors, he said "But yay! we got flags!"

Capture The Jolly Roger
On this day, August 26th, 2022, while jumping onto the spinning wheel obstacle all his other teammates passed successfully, Seven Corigault-Seto ate it.
Just completely mouth-full-of-magic-water and everything. The wooden platform fell from under him and he sideways-skewed into the water. The impact on his body: physical and forceful. Like wet concrete.
He had, um. Miscalculated.
For a moment he was drifting, mindless: the utter shock of surprise, the bodily cold, the murky dark flickering with disarrayed torchlight and the gray wink of bubbles streaming past. Just: that.
The warble of distant voices. The muted thump of running footsteps.
And Seven came back into himself.
Like a motor kicked into spluttering life. The fear leaped into him and he opened his mouth to scream, and the cold flooded in, and he sucked in half a lung of water—kicked his legs furiously, swam upward, or what he hoped was up—there were shadows in the water, shadows moving and lurking and his eyes burned—the pressure against them with each kick—his heavy lungs—the nausea and his chest, he needed to vomit, vomit—he could barely see—
He breached air.
The spokes of the spinning wheel passed over him, dark underbelly of the wood platform, creaking, looming—
He made a small, half-choked sound.
He kicked with a single-minded intensity only panic could bring, and hauled himself back up onto the wooden walkway. Checked if anyone was watching, but only a glance, and honestly maybe someone was watching, oh god, but he couldn't take it, he needed to—
grab the edge of the walkway, lean over the water, and cough-vomit.
Jesus.
After, he walked weakly back to his team ship.
