Nikolai has a very clean cut platinum blonde head of hair that is shaved close at the sides and back and he styles it in curtains. He is fairly tall at 5ft 4 especially for only being 13 years old and has a fairly slim build but some muscle definition as he already has started working out and training his body. With piercing blue eyes that have a sunken sadness to them, dark thick eyebrows and a strong jawline he often looks like someone to be avoided. When speaking Russian he has a deep, broad accent but in English a far more American sound comes from the boy having learned it from old nonmagi movies and television.

PERSONALITY

Nikolai is the kind of person that gives exactly what they get in return, if you treat him with respect then you will earn his respect but if you are cruel towards him you better be prepared for what's coming to you. He has a firm belief in justice and morality and despite being a pureblood believes that blood superiority is ridiculous much to his families disapproval, power is not something that people are born with but created by people willing to put in the work. He is a very hardworking kid and seeks to make the world a better place by any means necessary. Coming from Durmstang he also has no quarrels with using the dark arts and trains both mentally and physically to excel at his martial magic classes believing the body to be just as important as the mind when it comes to magic. Their greatest aspiration is to be some kind of auror or hit wizard so he can continue to work on their duelling and fight for a cause that seeks good.

BACKGROUND

The Volkov's are an extremely powerful, highly feared family in Russian magical society that garners them respect and generations of Nikolai's family have attended Durmstrang since the beginning of its founding. His family have always been synonymous with dark magic, specialising in spell creation, and believe that wizarding blood should remain pure and undirtied by muggles, but he couldn't disagree more. His parents names are Mikhail Volkov and Myrene Volkov and he has 4 older brothers. Being the black sheep of the family he was thrilled at the chance to go to Durmstang and be away from his parents even if he would inevitable be bound back to them like his brothers who all left at 15 to pursue the family career. Nikolai grew up with magic tutors that trained him for attending Durmstrang along with his parents and siblings and he was raised to follow his families tradition of entering the family business and involving himself in their shady workings.

Nikolai like all the Volkov children was taught to be seen but never heard and so didn't grow up with the ability to make his own decisions and have his own opinions so is taking full advantage now that he does and is finally able to express his disagreement with his families views. They are held to a standard that they will marry correctly and continue the bloodline but Nikolai resents the idea of it and isn't sure that the bloodline even deserves to be continued. This is also a matter of conflict for the boy as he is discovering, especially now that he has the freedom he has sought for years, that he is attracted to men.

Nikolai grew up fairly alone as the Volkov siblings were of all different ages himself being significantly younger than even the next closest but this did not mean they were not close. Together they were fiercely protective and he knew the burdens his elder siblings took on to protect him, for freedom had to place in the Volkov ideology. He always felt rather badly for them, growing up he saw the immense level of pressure that was put upon them and so he never blamed them for turning out the way they have. He knew that they wouls try to prepare him for the unfortunate reality of being a Volkov, it was a life sentence of duty and control, but he is certain that he will be the one to forgoe this. Every dark part of his childhood only made him resent his families ideals more and he is sure that even though it will most definitely lead him to be disowned he won't turn out like the rest of them. He won't let his life be written for him.

FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC

Like many in his family, Nikolai showed an aptitude for magic very early, in fact he was one of the youngest in his family to ever do so. It happened just before his first birthday, lying in his crib he was being fed by one of his brothers, a chore they were very used to. Beginning to choke his brother panicked not sure what to do but just as he was about to scream for his parents baby Nikolai raised his hand to his throat and levitated the lodged food back out of his mouth leaving it floating above him for multiple minutes before it finally dropped down. This was revered by his parents as they prided themself on being a family of resilience and aversion to death.

Myrene is a staple pillar of pureblood Russian society wishing her kids to marry well in aid of more power much like her husband. When Nikolai was born she suffered a breakdown and never fully recovered much to the fury of her husband but still she remains a master socialite and horrifically overbearing presence.

That's the Casimir the world see's but for his brothers he was their most adamant defender and each knew he burdened the responsibility so that they wouldn't have to.

A stoner from the second he could get out the house he avidly flaunts his rejection of his custodians but refuses ever to leave for he like all of them has seen his fathers wrath and the only thing he cares about is his brothers. Brodny learned quickly in life that putting your head down and getting on with it was the best way to avoid a conflict and so he did. Quickly becoming one of his father's favourites for his mannered personality as well as his intellect he adopted the seen and not heard mantra which he adored while his mother snarked at his shy ways. In truth when alone he was one of the loudest speaking all the things he kept boiling inside until the brothers were keeled over in laughter.

Yet it wasn't entirely punishment for Rad loved the attention more than anyone.
