The Garden of Eden Spring Ball 2025

Mikey burst through the wrought iron archway into the Garden of Eden, his shoes slapping against the stone path and spraying little droplets with every step. The flowers in the hedgerows swayed as he rushed past, damp from the indoor storm he had only barely left behind. His brown hair clung to his forehead, a few strands dripping rainwater into his eyes, and the back of his shirt was still stubbornly damp despite his jog.

“Bree! Lucy!” he called out trying to catch his breath. Scanning the growing clusters of students until he spotted familiar faces by a table. He skidded to a stop in front of them, slightly out of breath but wearing a grin too bright for someone who looked like they'd just sprinted through a hurricane. “I’m so sorry it took me a minute I got caught up inside with… well… Avery.”

He had a ridiculous grin on his face, unable to help it. “I met her cousin, and then the ceiling started leaking, and someone brought a storm cloud into the Great Hall, seriously, thunder and everything and I gave her my coat and...” he cut himself off, realizing he was babbling. His cheeks flushed slightly.

He glanced around and took in the peaceful contrast of the garden. “Anyway. I just wanted to let you know I’m not flaking, promise. Everything’s okay. Mostly. Except for the weird weather magic in there.”

His eyes lingered on the circle near the rose bushes where more students were gathered. One girl, red-haired and tightly wound, looked particularly uncomfortable. He noted the way she clutched her satchel, how her eyes flicked anxiously toward each sound. He didn’t want to intrude, but it stuck with him. He turned back to Bree and the others. “I’ve got to get back" he said with a joking half bow. “But I’ll be back out here soon.”

And with that, Mikey dashed back toward the castle, soggy shoes and all, vanishing through the archway again headed back toward Avery and the chaos that was becoming one of his favorite nights at Hogwarts.

The brown haired girl replied to him at last. At last Cursa understood what was bothering her. Too many kids all in one place. It sure was loud! He smiled at her. Of course, and then there was Colin. He nodded towards his white haired cousin. He leaned over the table a bit. "Loud? No wonder, right? That one's a terror!" Cursa chuckled. "Heheh! More like a terrier! Very excitable!" He glanced up at the nearly full Moon. "You'll have to forgive him. It's his time of the month," he whispered knowingly.

He went back to trying to make a flower crown. It wasn't working. Somehow, no matter what Cursa tried, it just didn't work. He'd watched how the cute girl --- Isidora was her name --- wove the strands together. He got that bit. But, for some reason, he just couldn't figure out how to stop. He sighed and muttered to Casey. "Help. It won't stop! It's just like spelling words like bananananana. Banananana. Bana? Crap. I just don't know where to stop! It looks more like a necklace!"

Cursa shook his head and gave Casey an exasperated look as Colin stood up on the seat super dramatically and rummaged around in his pockets for something. "This should be good," he muttered to his fellow Ilvermorny friend. "Honestly, you never know what's going to spill out of Colin's pockets! I swear he had a bowtruckle in there the other day! But I think it was just some random twig. Who keeps twigs in their pockets anyway?" He asked.

It turned out that the thing spilling out of Colin's pocket was a bit of crumpled cloth. Colin held it aloft like it was the greatest treasure on earth. He glanced at Casey. He shrugged. He wondered. What could be so special about a bit of tatty cloth? He watched the Isidora. Colin's outburst would probably upset her even more!

Cursa made a decision.

Isidora's flower crown looked really pretty. He ignored Colin's shenanigans and focused on the girl. He pushed the lopsided flower necklace across the table. His heart thumped. He had no idea how to do this! But if his idiot cousin could snag a cute girl like Emily, how hard could it possibly be? "Would you wear this? Isidora? It isn't much, because I couldn't figure out how to stop! But I think --- um." Cursa blushed. His face matched the colour of his hair.

Colin distracted him. He was talking about it raining inside. What a goober! He turned back to the girl. "Um." He pushed the flower necklace closer towards Isidora. "I--- I think it would look really pretty on you?"

Devon smiled kindly at Isadora. “It’s nice to meet you, Isadora. I like your dress,” she complimented her as she picked a daffodil from nearby. She turned her green eyes toward the flowers as she quietly weaved them into a crown. It was slow and steady, but it was already becoming a lovely item, despite not being done.

Glancing at Isadora again, Devon was curious about why the other girl seemed very fidgety. Of course, it wasn’t any of her business, and she was far too polite to ask. Yet, that wouldn’t quell her desire to know. But it also made her feel slightly bad. She wasn’t a fan of making other people uncomfortable. With what happened at the ball earlier, she was already susceptible to how she came off to other people. She liked to assume her actions so far didn’t cause Isadora to act this way. But, there was really no way to assume.

Noticing a girl coming over … Devon smiled at her … recognizing her from the main ball before. That was right, she was one of the ones Lucy had talked to before, that was before they ran outside together. She nodded her head. “Everything’s alright with me, how about you?" She asked, as her fingertips continued moving to craft her flower crown.

Then again, there were many other students around now. Perhaps that had something to do with it. Devon smiled at Isadora again. “Isadora? Would you like to go to a quieter spot?” She offered, keeping her voice down, wanting the other girl to feel comfortable. Despite the other students milling around, the fantasy music being played sounded lovely, in her opinion.

Emily was really awesomé! She'd got him through telling her about his werewolfery! And it wasn't nearly half as bad as he'd thought it would be! She'd said some things that really made total sense to him. That really lifted him up! "Courage is also measured by a person's endurance, McCoire," she'd said. He reckoned it did take courage. He'd had it before. And then he'd lost it for a while. And now he'd found it again! With Emmi! But then she got all weird on him. Just like AngelFyre. She'd said he was carrying around everyone's kitchen sink. And also his own kitchen sink. This really made Colin wonder if Muggleborns didn't have some kind of weird brain disconnect when they became magical.

He didn't think anything of it in the moment, but the thought struck him as he sat really close next to Emily and messing around with the flowers. She'd confronted him, asking him if he really did feel like a monster. He didn't say anything at the moment. This wasn't the place to talk about it. But he knew he'd have to talk about it with her at some point. Even if it meant finding an actual kitchen sink.

Emily laughed as she plucked a bit of goose grass out of his hair. "Wait. How did that even get there?" She stuck it on to his shirt. Colin looked down. Drat. His buttons. How did they --- "Honestly! How hard can buttons possibly be? YEEEEP!" Colin's eyes flew open as he turned towards Emily. He stood up suddenly on the bench! He rummaged around in his pockets!

"I almost forgot!" he cried out. "Emmi, how could I forget?" He caught sight of Cursa and Casey watching him. He also caught sight of Cursa watching the twitchy girl next to him. He reckoned she was a school mate of his cousin's. He did have an odd look about him though. He found it at last! With withdrew the object from his pocket and held it aloft! It was surely one of his greatest treasures!

"I thought I was late for the ball, so got ready in such a hurry I forgot to strap this on!" It was a beautiful bit of stitched cloth. Green with yellow and red and blue needlework. It was absolutely beautiful. "No gold or silver or precious gems can compare!" Colin slid the band over his right wrist and fastened it there. He tugged on the end with his teeth to snug it into place, then he crouched back down on the bench.

Colin noticed that Cursa was slowly pushing a heap of flowers towards the brown haired girl. He was blushing. Wait. His gaze fell on the girl next to him. He blinked. His nostrils flared. There was --- something --- about her. He'd never seen her before in his life. Yet, there was something vaguely familiar. Had he met her before? No. There was something --- just as there had been something about those annoying twins. Something about Keith even. Colin glanced at the Moon. "Huh. It's that time of the month, right? I'd forget me own head if weren't attached to me neck!" He settled down onto the bench at last and leaned into Emmi. She become a comfort to him. She just --- accepted him. He loved that about her!

Just as Colin was calming down from all the excitement of the wrist band, some boy came running up to the table! He was all wet, like he'd taken a dip in the lake! Colin turned to Emily with a glint in his eyes. That was no lake water he was smelling! The kid was very excited! Which, of course, got Colin riled up again! He straightened up and listened to what the boy was saying. He was gushing about some girl in the great hall.

Colin laughed. The kid was talking about how there was a storm inside the great hall. He smirked at Emily. "I hope they enjoy dancing in the rain!" He leaned into Emily again. He'd totally have to conjure up some rain for them to dance in sometime!

With the growing number of students surrounding Isadora expanding the young girl fidgeted slightly on the ground. It was rather odd she never gained much attention before her first time at Hogwarts but she supposed with the events of the explosion at Hogsmeade many students were wary and on edge. Even now Isadora could tell some students were wary.

The girl herself was wary as well. With each odd sound that seemed off made her tense. The unknown was always lurking in the background of Hogwarts danger really that could read its ugly head and strike the students and staff in a swift movement.

Gripping the edge of her Leigh beige brownish dress Isadora calmed her nerves slightly. It was odd being around so many students. She slowly was taking a mental note of everyone that seemed to be around her. Starting with the odd red haired boy that seemed to be trying to gain the girl's attention. She was not sure if it was out of kindness or concern because of her nerves or if he was just curious about the girl. His pale gray eyes seemed to shine a bit odd really. Though Isadora kept a mental note she was not sure if he could be trusted honestly could she trust any of the students at this place?

Isadora blinked slightly as she noticed the red haired boy leaning over speaking towards the young girl. Something about his tone seemed to be soft and a bit of a teasing tone when he spoke about the white haired boy that he nodded towards.

Isadora blinked softly, tilting her head like a small kitten curious about its surroundings.

Before Isadora could say anything or respond the red haired boy spoke again looking up at the almost full moon. Following the boy's gaze Isadora glanced upwards at the waxing gibbous that was slowly forming in the sky. Isadora felt her chest tighten. Her sapphire blue eyes watched the moon carefully as if it would expose the fullness a night early. The eerie was of the yellowish pale moon seemed to illuminate. It was a shame at one point Isadora would have admitted she enjoyed the moon the nighttime was her favorite due to the freedom that awaited her. Yet she feared the night and full moons now a dreadful reminder of the monster that dwells within the young girl. Tensing slightly the young girl quickly looked away. Catching what the boy said about his cousin's time of month? Strange Isadora did not really understand what he meant by that but she was not going to question it not in the slightest.

Instead of responding, Isadora nodded her head quietly, glancing back down at the ground, twiddling her thumbs against the fabric of her dress. The young girl could feel her ears ringing once more. She hated that. How sensitive her hearing was around this time of month. How sick she felt as if she was weak already made it worse for the young girl. Shaking her head slightly Isadora tried to calm her nerves; she had to take her mind off of the growing number of students. She had to try and act normal like a normal pre-teen not a cursed one. Then again she was cursed but she had to try and keep it to herself the best she could.

Isadora grew lost in her thoughts, her left hand slowly tracing the petals of the low lying daffodils that bloomed near her. The girl's frail thin fingers were gentle grazing the tips of the petals. Her mind was a bit lost in thought. The girl barely heard the nervous voice of the boy beside her. Blinking slightly Isadora turned to look at the red haired boy quietly, her crystal blue eyes slightly wide like a doe. Tilting her head she was slightly confused. Did he just call her Isidora? The young pre-teen smiled a bit nervously towards the boy.

“Isadora. My name is Isadora. Not Isidora.”

Isadora spoke softly of her tone with light and quiet as she fidgeted with the bottom of her dress once more staring nervously at the boy.

Blinking once more the girl noticed the boys attempt at a flower crown. As he seemed to offer it to her. Isadora was not sure if she should accept the flower like necklace though it was rather pretty and a bit messy looking it would be rude to not accept it. Plus Maman had always told Isadora it would be rude to not accept things given to her especially if it was not life threatening.

Taking a shaky breath Isadora smiled a slightly lopsided polite smile accepting the flower-like necklace placing it over her head as the gentle flowers rested against her chest.

Isadora had to admit she must look like a flower queen at the moment between her flower crown with a few crumpled flowers plus the flowers adorning her bandana and now her newly adorned flower like necklace she supposed all she needed was a bracelet made of flowers.

“Mèsi, very kind of you.”

Speaking softly the young girl bowed her head slightly in thanks as she smiled a small nervous smile once more.

Isadora’s attention turned once more towards the young blonde haired girl that was in front of her. It was rather strange. Isadora seemed to be hip hopping back and forth from each student that was surrounding her. The blonde haired girl was kind. Isadora had to admit that though she seemed a bit loud and hyper at first the young pre-teen had to admit she seemed to rather enjoy the girl's energy. She was not mean in a way and seemed rather caring. Isadora appreciated that from a person.

As Devon complimented Isadora’s dress the young girl smiled softly nodding her head quietly towards the girl.

“Mèsi your dress is rather pretty as well.”

Isadora spoke softly in her creole accent. The young girl seemed to slowly calm down a bit around the crowd of students. Though Isadora was still fidgety she felt a bit calmer.

Maybe it was not too bad. Socializing through Isadora had to admit it was nerve wracking. It was a bit loud and it seemed to grow louder as students seemed to emerge and grow speaking to those around her. Isadora noticed one girl who seemed to whisper towards Devon. Isadora could feel her ears burning. Maybe it was best to get up and wander off. Though she felt a bit peckish and those strawberry cream puffs were heavenly to Isadora.

As Isadora grew lost in thought the young girl heard Devon speak towards her. Blinking Isadora glanced up towards the girl. A quieter spot? That did not sound too bad actually. Honestly Isadora wanted to grab some snacks and something to drink.

Isadora nodded towards Devon quietly, smiling shyly.

“Yes please, that would be lovely.”

Isadora spoke quietly like a mouse as she stood up off the ground gently brushing off her dress. Isadora glanced towards the red haired boy that was beside her nodding quietly.

“Enjoy your time.”

Speaking towards the boy quietly Isadora turned towards Devon nervously glancing towards the snack table.

“Do you mind?”

Isadora spoke quietly to Devon pointing towards the snack table nervously silently asking Devon if she wished to go with her to gather some sweets. To fill the young pre-teens' growing hunger. After all food can cure almost anything right?

Casey somehow knew Cursa would be winging the ball on his own as well. He had that kind of flare about him as he stood next to him. Casey gave him a once over. Damn. He never truly acknowledged just how red his hair actually was. It was like he dyed it in lava or something. Forgot Red. Casey ought to be calling him Flame Head or something.

Their eyes fell on Girl and Dog. She was being her cuddly self while her partner was being... Himself. Casey still didn't have a word for Colin that other people didn't already describe him as. Even the word "insane" didn't fit him the same way others thought.

"No signs of snoggin' at least..." he muttered quietly to himself, relief slipping into his tone. Then Cursa suggested they'd go over and make flower crowns. Had Cursa not added on as a way of keeping their eyes on the aforementioned pair, then Casey would've told him to piss off.

He plonked down beside Cursa at the table where he started fiddling with a daisy, not quite sure what to do with it. He was more distracted watching Emily speed around the garden with Colin following aimlessly behind her. He smiled. She'd go off on a long-winded lecture about daisies if Casey asked her too. Turning to Cursa, he spotted him showing off a very familiar look. One Colin had been displaying for a long time. Casey watched Cursa and his eyes widened before narrowing again, a smirk accompanying his look. It seemed even Cursa had the McCoire Condition; the eyes glaze over when a pretty girl catches their sight.

"I guess the McCoire family have a thing with their base desires," he said amusingly. Then he poked Cursa's shoulder. "Remember, it was your idea to come here and spy on your bonkers cousin. Not to gawk at that girl over there..."

Not that it looked like Cursa was really listening to him when he started making something for the girl sitting next to him. Casey sighed. The McCoires were so weird! Although credit where credit was due, Cursa was quite deft with his hands, weaving stems together to make a decent flower thingy.

He shifted his gaze back towards Colin and Emily and nearly had a heart attack when he saw the former lean in towards the latter. Casey picked at his nail. Surely to God Colin could read a girl's face! Emily didn't know how to kiss. She told Casey herself! And now Colin's going to-- If he was going to kiss her he'd never see the--!

Oh.

It was just a harmless little nose doop they shared in the end. That felt more like a sibling thing to do. Casey relaxed. That worked for him. Though he could see Colin bouncing with mischief.

He remembered Cursa whispering a few things to him earlier. Something about the time of the month... Whatever that meant. Casey's brow furrowed. He remembered that being uh... A lady thing. But not with boys. Unless the McCoires were a different kind of exception.

"Alex and Angus told us that he and Colin actually fought one." Then he made a sign that made Casey near burst into laughter.

Casey levelled himself and scoffed, shaking his head. Colin fighting a you-know-what? Even if Colin was tough, he couldn't survive something like that. "Just because Colin acts like a dog ain't mean he is one," he said quietly. "Hell, even a dog has more restraint than he does... I think he's just some nutter acting on his instincts." Even if it was chasing girls at the end of the day.

He sat back and watched the two different soap operas happening before him. Emily and Colin whispered something a fair bit away while the girl accepted Cursa's flower decoration.

Then he saw Colin and Emily head towards the table.

"Hell's bells... They're coming this way," he hissed, already lowering his head to try and hide from them. If Emily caught Casey spying on them, he'd never hear the end of it.

Emily clasped a hand over her mouth to stop her giggles from boiling over. She couldn't even tell what was funnier; The long strand of leaf that stuck to Colin's front like a magnet or the sheer confusion etched on Colin's face.

"That quite suits you," she said through another mouthful of laughs. After a minute she finally calmed down. Colin had another flash of intense thinking wash over him - which Emily could deduce through his expression - and she sat back and let him be for a moment. She turned to the flowers on the table and picked up a buttercup. She beamed as she held it to her wrist, the bulb facing upwards. The yellow glow of the tiny flower illuminated against her wrist. Yep. She was still a buttercup lover according to her skin.

Then Colin surprised her - AGAIN! - with another loud yelp. When she turned to face him, she caught him rummaging through his pockets. "Did you forget-- Oh!"

Her face met that of a bit of a piece of cloth. She watched as Colin tied it to his own wrist and she smiled. "An exceptional look, Mister McCoire!" It was astounding how well accessories suited Colin. It was something Emily would never guess from him.

A boy came up to the table and Colin grinned. "I hope they enjoy dancing in the rain!"

Emily gasped. So that's what Colin did! Colin had Emily flying out of the Great Hall that she couldn't catch what it was he did when they left. She bapped Colin's arm. "That was quite unnecessary, don't you think? I think we should do something to make it up to everyone back there... Who knows how expensive some people's outfits were to buy..."

In the very few memories she shared with her mother, Emily remembered her going off about how difficult it was to procure fabrics and cloths for new outfits while she worked. How cathartic that one of the few conversations she ever had with her mother was about the thing that kept her away from home in the first place. Emily still couldn't even tell if that was her mother's way of trying to teach her daughter something or not.

Still. What Colin did felt a bit... Unfair to her.

"Now if it was butterflies or something..."

A lightbulb went off in Emily's head and she took out her wand. She aimed it upwards, a cheery grin plastered across her.

"Lepidterio!"

11 April - the evening of the Spring Soirée

Image posted by the member hen Simon and AngelFyre had learned that the theme was going to be “light fairy tale”, they conferred with each other as they always did about coordinating outfits for the Ball. Simon came up with the idea of faeries, most likely because of the wings. Her boy had a definite fascination with wings, or maybe with flying itself – dragons and broom racing came to mind immediately. Heck, even his own girlfriend’s name intimated at wings if she wanted to taffy pull herself into a stretch for more evidence to back up her supposition. Once they landed upon the golden faerie theme, it did not take long for her to hatch a little surprise for him that she thought might make their evening more memorable, and for all of the right reasons, as was not normally the case at these events.

She had spoken to Colin about her plan because it would require magic to be used. Since her hands would be full ... of, well, Simon himself… she could not be the one to cast. Colin eventually agreed to help her out, but not before teasing her mercilessly. It was totally worth the wait as he bounced around her like a Tasmanian devil she had seen in old Muggle cartoons when in the States a couple of years ago, yipping hysterically at his own blistering observations on her relationship and where he reckoned it fell on his self-proclaimed “sappiness” scale. Let us just say that, per her bestie’s rating, any unicorns in their vicinity may be in need of insulin shots or anyone in their vicinity, for that matter, might just have cavities spontaneously erupt on their teeth.

Now, as a Pure-blood, Colin would have no idea about insulin shots, and maybe not even dentists. This was just AngelFyre’s takeaway from his comments. He did manage a light-hearted zinger about “Syrup tasting bitter after being in their presence.”

Whatever.

She just let him get his ya yas out and smiled and continued walking along as he circled her 8,935,734,083 gazillion times thinking to torment her. “If you are finished, I would simply like to remind you that jealousy is so not an attractive look on you, Woofy. I know the moment Emily gets on board with your own heart’s deepest wish, your sappiness factor is going to skyrocket exponentially into the stratosphere as well,” and she chuckled as she lifted her hand to move a hanging vine from her path. “Do not forget who you are talking to here. You know I know what you most want,” and it was at this point she stopped and turned to him. “I know that expansive heart of yours, beneath all the crazy shenanigans and pranks and torrential energy as seen by the outside world, wants nothing more than to have your own brand of sappy, hilarious, mind-altering and soul-touching connection with another. We both know it will not look like what I have with Simon, because every relationship is as different as the two people within it, but it will be sappy enough that I will be able tease you… but I will not. She paused for a moment in silence and then said, “Okay, maybe I will, a little… or a lot…” and she grinned at him, “but I will mostly just smile for you and your happiness.”

So, it was as she and Simon were heading to the stone tiles for their slow dance following the more energetic one that had just concluded, she greeted both Emily and Colin as the couples passed each other, heading in opposite directions. She gave Colin their pre-arranged signal, two quick winks, and he nodded in return, reaching up to tap his fang necklace. “Nice plant helmets there, you two,” he snickered as he continued on past them. She did not want to, but she could not help but laugh.

When they reached the designated area, it looked glorious. The moonlight was bathing them in silvery rays and the fireflies were blinking on and off everywhere around them. As they began to dance, she took a few moments to just breathe him in… literally. “Your scent, lilacs, and the smell of the earth after a soft rain would most definitely be what Amortentia would smell like to me now,” she said in a dreamy kind of tone out of nowhere. She took in another slow, deep breath. She was intoxicated with pure love for him and the joy of being with him, but while she might normally move to rest her head on his shoulder, she instead had something to tell him.

“When I attached the wings to our outfits, I added a little something to them. We can make them move. See? If I pull that thread on your cuff that is currently holding my hand, and if you pull that thread where your hand rests on my waist, our wings will begin to flutter. Go ahead. Try it.”

Simon’s face took on an even more excited look and she felt his fingers begin to explore the fabric of her dress on her waist. He did not find it immediately, but pulled her closer, whispering in her hair that he was not giving up. It was just at the moment that his breath caught and she felt the gentle tug of thread followed quickly by the whispering rustles of her faerie wings undulating behind her. He literally stopped their dance for a moment, in the middle of the dance floor, and watched them in the sparkling light. She tugged on his golden thread and heard the whoosh of his wings as they, too, began to undulate behind him.

This was what Colin was supposed to be watching for… their wings moving. If he had not gotten too absorbed in his own date with Emily, and AngelFyre would not blame him if he had, he was to cast the levitation spell on her and she would take Simon up and along with her as they were entwined within each other’s arms. She was trusting Colin to be an honest broker here and not futz around with her romantic moment. She gave him carte blanche to be the conductor of their Dance of the Faeries ballet in mid air. She and Simon really would have no control of their movements, so how high or low, or how quickly they spun around would all be dependent upon him, but she had pleaded with him to make it lovely.

Looking to her other half, feeling entirely happy and carefree, AngelFyre asked him, “Simon, have you ever felt so light on your feet when dancing?” and she smiled enigmatically at him as their winged selves bade farewell to the earth beneath them. Their bodies were no longer under the influence of its gravitational pull but were now twirling and spinning in mid air.

“It is just you and I now, mo chridhe (my heart)… dancing under the light of a thousand stars.”

MODERATION POST — ROUND 3.

It appears as though the grace of decorum and simple etiquette lessons you'd expect many to be familiar with, no longer existed, though, one cannot make such vile comments on our dear and respected patrons. As the evening continues to present a bustling atmosphere, lively with a select crowd and upbeat bard hymns, despite the initial request of the dance card urging mingling to strengthen connections with one another, most patrons found themselves surrounding an innocent girl, idly toying with flowers and weaving them into crowns. One patron, @Colin McCoire, successfully casts the levitation charm, causing a few assortments of hand picked flowers and vines to balanced in the air, a few petals free-falling beneath those within his vicinity. Whilst another patron, @Emily Shephard, successfully conjures butterflies, welcoming the new species into the alluring garden.

Amidst a relaxing evening, the arrival of one patron, appearing disheveled and drenched, slurring madness as to how the Garden's sister party had left him in such a state, only leaves many shrouding in judgement, questioning the genuinely of his remark. Fortunately, most evidently choose to ignore the barbaric slander, given the patron's timely departure, which is highly appreciated to avoid potential havoc. Yet, as the evening truly begins, one patron, @Sage Willows, makes the mistake of carelessly picking a drink from the vast selection available; settling for the Blackberry & Apple Non-Alcoholic Cider, a drink which fortunately appears to be popular with our patrons this evening. Though, unfortunately for Sage, the one she mistakingly picked appeared tampered with, likely noticeable upon the first sip with the a strong mysterious odour emitting from the drink, leaving her words slurred despite radiating with a buzz feeling.

Though, despite the hearty atmosphere within the garden, failure to comply with the demands of the dance card conjures another command, this time, slightly more eerie and chilling, as though formulating a mind of its own. This time, engraved neatly in cursive writing, the spot which once held; 'Seek another for a dance.' rewrites itself, replacing the initial wording on a self-reserved space, should the dance cards not have been filled prior to the first message, with:

Comply with my request, or else.

MOD NOTE:

If your dance cards were previously written to be as full, you are more than welcome to ignore the requests of the dance cards. As previously mentioned, the writing only appears on a blank spot within the dance card, the message erases and a new message is written in its place.

Garden of Eden — round three moderation.

@Colin McCoire casts the Levitation Charm, WDC 9.
[d20 : 20] + 12 = 32, success.

@Sage Willows drinks a random drink.
[d5 : 3] = 3, Sage picks Blackberry & Apple Non-Alcoholic Cider, 50% chance of being spiked [1-5].
[d10 : 2] = 2, Sage's drink was spiked.
Due to 'sparkling' included in the apple juice and drink being spiked, Sage would feel intoxicated but also buzzed/happy. [duration: 1-2: one round, 3: two rounds.]
[d3: 3] = 3, lasts for two round.

@Emily Shephard casts the Butterfly-Conjuring spell, average WDC for second years is 11.
[d20 : 15] + 8 = 23, success.

Please let me know if anything has been missed.
Dance Cards

Upon entrance into The Garden of Eden, each player will receive a "dance card", a RP opportunity for players to engage with. Within the dance card, names of whom your character dances with must be recorded, beware of prying eyes should their names not be found within the dance card and they are dancing with your player, as this would be the most scandalous thing to do.

NOTE: The inclusion of dance cards is solely for a RP opportunity, you are not obliged to comply with this, but should you mention it, please ensure the character your character dances with, was included in the dance card.

Hogwarts was large, and irritatingly so.

The place was less like a castle and more like a twist and turns galore, with the many winding staircases and bustling bodies that flooded the halls, all of which obstructed his vision. Or rather, his only means of navigation. But in his spite of his frustrations growing like a plant under sunlight, the young boy maintained his composure, because there was no doubt his sister would do the same.

If anything, he tried adjusting his perspective to a more light-hearted one, a lens that transformed his situation from being terribly lost into an impromptu adventure. After all, being able to visit two different schools in less than one year was a blessing not many others could experience, right? Sure. So, Jamie drenched himself in a carefree aura, waving and smiling at the numerous students that passed him by until finally, he found his way to the great hall.

... An environment that he ultimately decided was far too much for him to handle.

Yes, he knew the event would be quite populated, considering international students were invited. However, there was a fine, fine line between understanding a phenomenon and actually experiencing it. And in Jamie's position, there were a multitude of ball-goers brushing against him as he passed through the crowd, with their consistent murmurs and awful body heat and bright outfits and—indeed, it was the definition of overstimulating. So, he made for the castle grounds in hopes of finding solace among the greenery.

Fortunately, the atmospheric disparity between the Soirée and Garden of Eden was deliciously vast, enough to afford the foreign wizard a sigh of relief. Fewer people around, more space, less noise... Thank goodness. All things he was more than happy to indulge in for the time being.

In fact, he felt so at peace that upon getting a dance card pushed into his hands, fully disrupting his moment of serenity, he ignored the current of rage that subsequently crashed into his being. Because he was fine, and he was in a wonderful environment, and how could this stranger have known that he didn't want to be interrupted after escaping the sensory hell of the main event? Indeed, Jamie was more than fine and incredibly understanding, because that is who Jamie Saeng was.

After exhaling through his nostrils, the boy turned over the card in his grasp, his brow raising upon spotting the odd words present. Instead of the empty spaces he expected, he was actively being given a command. Seek another for a dance. Ah, if he remembered how this program worked, he was meant to fill this out, was he not?

But who to dance with?

Jamie lifted his head and sauntered deeper into the garden, eyes scanning the area as his mind wandered, debating who he could approach and if his dancing skills were even adequate to do so. However, it did not take long for him to notice that many of those present were already sorted off into pairs or groups of some kind, leaving him as an odd straggler. The revelation stirred up conflicting feelings within him, torn between relief at the excuse for solitude and mild worry. After all, his parents would be expecting him to share something positive in the social department, and he was not raised to be a liar.

So preoccupied he was, that he failed to notice the words on his card shift into a sentence far more offputting than before. Rather, he focused on taking a seat within the gazebo to think while his card dangled off his wrist, pathetically nameless.
