The phantom of her cousin's reassuring touch still lingered in her hand. It had awakened her from her day nightmare, as a safe bridge between that night and what was happing now and there. It felt foreign though, as if a so casual touch, something that could be perceived as normal between family, was suddenly something that instead of comforting, felt like a sting. A sting that would make her aware of how guilty she was for everything that had happened, that had been broken between them. Mey tried not to flinch away from the touch, instead, delivered a small smile that hadn't been enough to dissipate the sadness in her hazel eyes. But that night of Gala, was not the time to revive sore memories, no...Mey would chose to wrap her heart in hope for healing, that this night was a small step towards glueing the pieces back together, even if the scars would not easily fade...perhaps never. The girl who bumped into her and the marriage proposal provided the blessed excuses to change the mood around her, giving her notes of surprise, shock and playfulness, sentiments more fitting of a celebratory occasion.

The young Gryffindor couldn't completely avoid the pulling at the corner of her lips when a smugly smile threatened to appear at her cousin's response to the clumsy girl. But Meyra wanted to keep it polite and welcoming, even more so, when she noticed the girl's American accent, "Yes, perhaps walking with your eyes closed can start to be avoided from now on!" She responded to the girl she would soon know as Lucy, before turning to her cousin and subtly send her a wink and a soundless "Thank you.".

As if her steps towards the table were destined to be interrupted by rays of color, now was time for yellow to shine, as a girl dressed in a pastel yellow suit and a beautiful silk headscarf decided to approach their small group. The girl's smile and the warm color she was dressed with, seemed to be able to illuminate the entire room. Mey felt caught between admiring her fresh and sunny energy or flinch from an invisible light that threatened the shadow of her own soul. "Hi!" Mey replied in a friendly way, showing a smile, at the same time as her cousin said her own greetings.

The young Gryffindor blinked once at the girl's introduction, Tes was her name. Blinked twice, Tes' words seemed to imply that they had already met, but her face and name didn't seem familiar. Blinked thrice, and her eyes widened in recognition as her mouth went into a round and silent, "Oooo". Meyra immediately shared a quick look with Jun, making sure she wasn't the only one getting to that unexpected, and slightly terrifying, conclusion. "Right!" Mey said, even though she felt a little uncomfortable, she gave a genuine smile at Tes, "I'm Meyra. Nice to meet you." She politely told to the oldest girl, before finally starting to walk with Jun towards the table with curious, strange treats. Tes and Lucy falling in their steps.

Nodding in agreement with Jun and noticing the start of panic show in her cousin's warm dark eyes, Mey looked at Tes, "You can stay with us. Perhaps it's a good idea if we stay together." She told her. 'It's a good idea after everything that's happening', those last words the young girl decided to just keep in her thoughts. At twelve years old, she was far from understanding the profound contours of the late attack, she had only read the Daily Prophet's article, but what she had read was clear enough. A letter from her mother arrived shortly after she had finished reading the news, with worried words of concern and a strict advice for her to keep discreet and inside the safety of Hogwarts' walls, "Maybe is also a better idea, if we keep it just between ourselves though." Mey said, sending a pointed look at Tes's wrist. Her tone was a little harsh, but not rude, just making sure the message was correctly crossed and understood. Only 'over her dead body' she would see Jun injured again through other people's acts of violence and malice. Or stupidity, that would also count!

Meyra's curious and questioning eyes hovered over the food displayed on the table, some had dates and notes, possibly referring to what those were trying to represent. "NASA...the hell is NASA?" Mey muttered to herself as she decided to get one of the green cupcakes with little antennas decorating it, a little alien that she hoped would taste better than what it looked like. She was about to give it a first bite when Lucy spoke: "If I die, don't eat this." she playfully said before giving a try to her jello salad. Meyra softly laugh, "It looks innocent enough Lucy!" She joked back, again turning her attention towards her little alien cupcake, but... "Please don’t eat that," Jun told her with pleading eyes. "But...why? I..." Mey started to say, but was interrupted as she felt her cupcake being robbed from her hands. She turned to her right, glaring at a curtain of blonde hair. The thief was wearing a nice black suit and apparently was talking to a boy. Mey had no idea who the girl was...but the AUDACITY! The young Lancaster glanced at her cousin and at the group of new acquaintances, seeing if they also had noticed the girl's lack of notion. Then looking back again at the cupcake thief, Mey made sure she would not forget the girl's face. She could wait, as Meyra had received a better education and instructed with a proper sense of social behaviour. Clearly the opposite could be said about that person next to her! But as soon as the opportunity presented itself...yes, she would make sure of that, at the first opportunity, she would ensure that the appropriate response was given!

Meyra was still glaring in the direction of her new found target, when an old one decided to show with his natural 'grace'. "Fantastic...", She muttered, unable to contain the roll of her eyes when the platinum-haired Slytherin approach her, Jun and the other two girls. Specially when she noticed he was friends with Tes.

"Poisoned?" Mey's expression of contempt turned to incredulity in half a second at the boy's comments about the food. The little devil perched on her shoulder immediately sprung into action: "Hope it is!" it seemed to whisper in her ear, while Meyra dared to take another look at the culprit of the cupcake crime with the shadow of a small mischievous smile appearing on her lips. But then he remembered that Tes and Lucy were stuffing their faces with those treats, and her smile transfigured into concern and awareness. "Are you guys okay?" She then asked them.

"My name's Colin by the way! McCoire." The boy said, finally revealing the name behind the snakeling. Meyra raised one of her eyebrows, contemplating the tall figure of that boy who was in front of her. McCoire...the name was sounding familiar, like she had heard it before. She narrowed her eyes, forcing her memory to reveal where she had heard that name, but her memory was deciding to fail her, as she couldn't remember or grasp the moment she had seen or heard that name. Perhaps she had heard it on the corridors? Someone else calling for him? Maybe... Although, she had a cold feeling that there was something more around to it, something more she needed to find... "Meyra Lancaster." She told him after a while, "And I was definitely here to eat..." She said, giving an almost sad glance back at the table, "But I guess I'll be here for the music and good company." She finished with a shrug, sending him a look that could be read as an admonishment for his carefree and nonchalant attitude to cause chaos. Meyra followed his gaze, until she found the girl he was referring to. She was dress in an elegant black dress that praised the pale blue light of her eyes, she was beautiful Meyra thought. "What do you mean 'something big' is about to happen?" Mey asked Colin with a challenging and at the same time suspicious expression involving her pretty face.

And if in answer to her question, slowly but steadily, a wave of fog began to form around the spacious room. "What..." She gasped looking around. "Mind you, this fog is totally not sus! Who knows what won't happen tonight!" Colin told them. The guy looked like a guru of bad omens! Meyra didn't know what to think of everything the boy had told them. Poisonous food, chaos...and that fog that was promising that something odd was about to happen. Meyra thought, with no little sarcasm, that the only thing missing was Camilla Carter showing up dancing with a grindylow.

As the shimmering veil of mist began to fill every small space within the Great Hall, Mey felt enveloped by darkness. Instinctively, she gave a step back, bringing herself to bump into someone, "Sorry." She told to the darkness, not being able to see who was behind her, her voice coming in a whisper, as she was afraid to disturb the fog itself. Opening her satchel, Meyra searched for her lantern, a magical item that would allow her to bring light to the space. Holding it in front of her eyes, Mey tried to see what was that all about, if the fog was a simple mist or if something else was hiding in it.

Oh boy.

Elena blinked twice as her hand was gently stolen away. The golden haired boy turned it with graceful swiftness, brushing his lips against the soft skin of her knuckles. Without thought, her fingers slightly flexed, an unconscious reaction to the sudden contact. Very... Victorian. What now, he's going to duel at dawn ? Who even does this anymore ? Dramatically posh, typical aristocrat convinced he could make any woman swoon with just one glance. Raising an eyebrow at him, Elena slightly bowed, examining him quietly. Did he expect her to melt at his feet, like so many girls surely did before ?

"Sanguinuis Demarest." He spoke in a murmur, releasing her hand. Even his name sounds like it had stepped out of a gothic novel. Elena's fingers tingled in the places his skin had touched hers, but she brushed off the sensation. "Demarest..." Spoken lower than a whisper, his name rolled on her tongue like smoke curling through air. Why did that name felt like a weight in the back of her mind ? Like a whisper of long forgotten dreams, floating candles and pages turning in an old, somber place. She tried to reach for it, but the memory eluded her, dissolving like mist between her fingers.

The ravenclaw was surprised when he apologized for his aggressiveness, she hadn't thought he'd noticed her reaction. Maybe she had been more obvious than she thought. Or maybe he was more observant than he appeared. His gaze was sharp, watching her closely - intense, maybe too intense. It was as if he wanted to study her, dissect her. To understand her completely. To know her. Should she be flattered or run away ? Or, better yet, punch him if he kept staring at her with that infuriating grin.

She fought the urge to roll her eyes as he stated his house. Gryffindor, obviously. Couldn't have been anything else, he wore that smug assurance people often mistook for bravery.. Wrapped in scarlet and gold, he wore his pride like an armor, hiding something far deeper. "You set quite the example indeed." She played with the hem of her drink, tilting her head. "I didn't really think that blue fit the theme, but I stayed loyal to silver." Her dress has intricate silver patterns, matched by her choker and the rings that adorned her fingers.

She slightly frowned at his explanation of why he felt familiar, but it was plausible enough not to linger more on the bubbling surface of Elena's mind. Already thinking about something else, the blond girl scanned the room, searching for her friends. His next line shattered her focus, as she almost choked on her cherry juice. This guy's nerves are unmatched. She scoffed. "I doubt you'd even manage to get close enough to try, sunshine." she retorted. The nickname dripped with sarcasm as she put her drink down. She definitely didn't like this arrogant Gryffondor.

He wasn't wrong, Elena was more into russian poetry than fluffy romances, but she loved it from time to time. "Balance is key, Demarest. You should give it a try. And I read pretty much everything, to be honest." Her gaze got distant, trapped in the swirl of her thoughts. Reading was the only thing that kept her grounded. She used books as an escape from the sleepless nights, and never stopped since. They softened her insomnias, turning harsh hours into something bearable.

"What's a heart's worth if not tested ?" She echoed his words with raised eyebrows. "If you feel the need to test one's heart, then perhaps you're not worthy of it." Love was, to her, one of the profound forces that went beyond the comprehension of the simple human brain. An irresistible force, able to move oceans and mountains, divine power, uncontrollable and unpredictable. Love was the fuel that kept mortals alive, clinging onto it to survive each day. Her heart tightened at the thought of her parents, who showed her these truths. Love was stronger than anything. It didn't need to be tested to prove its existence. Love was.

Her melancholy was broken by a sudden agitation. A little furball darted through Demarest's legs, immediately followed by a displeased expression on the boy's face, causing a clear laugh to escape Elena's lips. "What's the matter, Demarest ? It's just a fox." she teased. A rather cute fox, that is. Watching it run away, her gaze drifted the newly engaged couple. Smiling, she sighed. Hearing a clicking of tongue, she turned her attention back to the golden haired boy. "Not fond of public affection displays ?" She raised an eyebrow at him, before looking back at the happy lovers. "They look sweet."

Her gaze drifted away, onto the dancers swirling on the dancefloor. This one doesn't look enchanted. Thank Merlin I don't have to dance. As elegant as she appeared, she never properly learned how to dance and would definitely make a fool of herself by even stepping onto the dancefloor. Looking at the clock, she shifted impatiently from one foot to another. The mystery solving party was starting any minute now, and she couldn't wait to join her friends. Suddenly remembering the hunt he mentioned earlier, she turned towards the Gryffindor. "Are you taking part in the Whispers of the Dark event ?" she asked. She had no doubts he would. He didn't seem like the type to miss a competition. Then again, neither did she.

Let the best one win.

The Seventh Year was on high alert as she watched people flow in, wandering about as they found those they intended to spend the evening with. Snippets of poorly practiced flirts, giggles and chatter catching her ear as the party slowly came alive and assembled its harmony for the night. Though that harmony was momentarily broken with a sudden arrival and a holler.

Illowy's eyes lifted to the Entrance the moment she heard Colin's voice echo through the Hall, torn between allowing the slip of an amused smile or rolling her eyes at his boisterousness. Something about that lad, she couldn't quite put her finger on, charmed her. Not in an attracted way, but more so, she figured, because he reminded her so much of her cousin; if her cousin was friendly and approachable. At the very least, he was amusing in the way he strut himself about the room as though it was all his, right down to the reason of the party.

Ultimately, she settled on maintaining her stoic and aloof expression, ghostly gaze analyzing him up and down as he stopped in front of her with a dramatic bow. Her chin tilted up, "McCoire, its a party. Don't make me save you tonight." she warned, her tone maintaining it neutrality, though perhaps with a bit of warning and amusement. Sharp eyes skimmed over the newly exposed scar on his neck a short moment before returning just as his attention was drawn off by another, brightly dressed in yellow.

Illowy couldn't imagine being so excited for whatever chaos was sure to hit the night. She prayed it was only some petty drama, like two students getting into over a date and trying to haphazardly duel one another. But this was Hogwarts, nothing could ever be so simply. It was the reason Illowy never ate the food or had the drinks at the parties, never let anything slip past her gaze if she could help it. Even as she watched the mingling, she was acutely aware of some redhared lad she'd never seen before looking in her direction -likely from one of the visiting schools- and another girl who'd passed a look at her as Colin was speaking; though she wasn't sure if it was a positive or negative look. Her response was always to act as though she didn't notice.

The older girl was only pulled from her thoughts when Colin said her name once more, furrowing her brow, "I haven't the slightest idea what you mean. I'm doing exactly what I always do at parties." waiting and watching. Sure, he wasn't far off, she was anticipating trouble. But unlike her housemate, she wasn't trying to wish it into existence, "I meant what I said before, McCoire. Why not do what normal people do, go find yourself someone pretty, and dance the night away. Its not healthy to anticipate trouble." says the girl who spent every night alone in the Common Room, constantly paranoid of another repeat of a bad night five years ago. She'd like to think that she had enough Slytherin Self Preservation sense to think that should anything happen tonight, she'd turn tail to live and fight another day.... but historically, that was never the case. She imagined she'd likely be right on Colin's heels if something did start up.

Her unintended hero complex truly was her worst attribute.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

┌─────────────────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───────────────────────┐

Aurélie had been more than just excited for this year's Fall Ball, though it definitely had nothing to do with the actual Hogwarts event itself. Honestly, after attending the last two balls, she'd found that they weren't all that amazing, though that picture of the Spring Ball had made for a great piece as part of that album that she'd been working on. But this time, the little French girl wasn't going alone, trying her best to introduce herself and converse with as many unique individuals as possible. No, this time, she was going with a friend who she'd suddenly become close with.

Peter Smith was someone who she'd met exactly once last year. But after seeing him at summer camp, and spending time with him yesterday, being in his presence just felt so... natural. He was calm opposed to her chaotic, levelheaded opposed to her energy spikes, but that wasn't what made their friendship so unique. It was the fact that Aurélie didn't feel hindered in his presence, didn't feel like she, too, had to be quieter. She felt his acceptance. And, after he'd told her his nationality, which was for some reason very close to his heart, the French girl was pretty sure he felt the same way about her.

Now Aurélie stood in a grey tulle dress at the edge of Hogwarts' Great Hall. She fiddled with the ends of the two loose strands that she'd left out from the bun that she'd pulled her brown hair into, securing the entire thing with a grey dove clip. She'd gone so far as to paint her nails a matching grey and white pattern, and pair her entire outfit off with black flats. Overall, not the most fancy look, but after being forced to dig in the bushes last year while wearing uncomfortable dove-like clothing, Aurélie had reasoned that being comfortable was much, much more important than looking as haughty as everyone else. Just to be on the safe side.

She just hoped that Peter thought the same... that he didn't find her simplistic look off. So she plastered her big Aurélie smile onto her face and waited patiently for her date to arrive.

xxxxxxxx𝔈vpraksiya sipped delicately at her cherry punch, the liquid a dark shade of vermilion as bored eyes surveyed the room. All her social obligations should have been finished now, the relevant people having been greeted, complimented, and gossip exchanged. She supposed it was time to now find Nova and Alyss— ah, she should also speak to Nabi soon too, it wouldn't do for her to ignore an old friend. The doll-like girl began making her way towards where she'd last seen the other girls before her attention was drawn by a Ravenclaw walking away from the bustle of the ball alone.

The youngest Vinogradova tilted her head curiously at the quiet way the other girl seemed to detach herself from the ball's frenzied atmosphere. While others were caught in the dance, laughter, and whispers floating through the fog-shrouded air, Oakleigh moved as if she belonged to another world— shrouded in her own bubble of hurt. And that- intrigued Evpraksiya. Whatever sort of hurt might come from a time of supposed joy such as now?

...She supposed her friends could wait a little bit longer while she satiated her curiosity.

The Youngest Vinogradova's steps were measured as she gracefully moved through the crowd, her pristine detailed dress whispering against the floor like the rustles of some forgotten dream. The fog parted for her, as she made her way towards the brunette. Her eyes, one darker than the other, locked onto Oakleigh as she saw her gathering her things—sketchbook, camera, perhaps the Ravenclaw was more interested in capturing moments than experiencing them?

As the other girl turned toward the exit, Evpraksiya glided closer, her voice a soft melody that barely broke the air. ❝Leaving already?❞

The words hung between them for a moment, as delicate and poised as the girl who had spoken them. Evpraksiya's smile was soft, almost imperceptible, but her eyes carried that curious weight they often did— the kind that always seemed to look deeper than surface impressions.

❝You seem as though the evening’s festivities haven’t quite held your attention,❞ she observed, her tone gentle, as if merely making a passing comment on the weather, not questioning the disconnection Oakleigh so clearly displayed. There was no judgment in her voice, no pitying the tear tracks on her cheeks, but clearly an open invitation to speak.

She paused, standing at a careful distance, allowing the fog and air between them to settle into a comfortable silence. Evpraksiya had been told before she had a way of making people feel like they were trapped in a conversation with her which— goodness she hoped that wasn't the case. Even her approach now wasn’t forceful but an invitation for Oakleigh to stay a little longer, to share whatever it was she saw through her lens.

A beat passed, the quiet between them stretching like the space before a note in music. And then, as if remembering some half-forgotten pleasantry, Evpraksiya tilted her head ever so slightly, the light catching on the pale waves of her hair.

❝I’m Evpraksiya,❞ she said, the name rolling off her tongue lightly, she left out her last name- no need for that right now. ❝I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure of meeting before, Miss...?❞

Her introduction was quiet, intimate—yet somehow still formal, as if even in these moments when no one else was watching, the veneer of aristocratic polish could not be fully shed. But beneath that surface, there was something genuine in her eyes, a spark of curiosity that would tell any particularly observant person Evpraksiya she wasn’t simply making polite conversation for the sake of it.

'I can't believe he would do such a thing in front of the whole school. Spare me the embarrassment.'

At her words, the boy instantly snorted. "Right? Matter of fact, imagine she up and said 'no.' I think I'd die laughing," he responded while carrying a wide smile, the thought alone filling him with mirth. In fact, a part of him wished such a thing actually happened. It wasn't as if the students didn't already have enough to discuss, of course not, but this would no doubt be a highlight. So, the least those two could do was kick it up a notch and really make it drama. Alas, Aodhan knew that wouldn't happen. It would remain in the land of his imagination, a spectacle he could bend and twist but not quite bring to life.

Rather than dwell on it, though, he fixed his gaze onto the person he was speaking to. Upon closer examination, he could actually claim to somewhat recognize her face. She was in that oh so peculiar limbo of stranger and acquaintance, where he knew of her, yet didn't really know her. That was why he was surprised she managed to get his name right; if anything, he expected some kind of butchering at the very least. It was a shame he couldn't return the favor.

"Yup, in the flesh. You can get my autograph later," he playfully assured, before she directed his attention to a different attendee. The dude seemed older than them, which caused the youth to raise a brow in question. Was he... supposed to be familiar with many people outside their year? Was this person a "super senior" or just well-known enough to—ah, hang on. There was a chance she simply appreciated how the other boy looked. That was the more realistic path, and in that case, he couldn't blame her.

"I think a 'me' in an alternate universe would give you the answer you want, but since it's the 'me' of this universe you're speaking to, the answer is—I've never seen that guy a day in my life, but he's dressed nice. Is that why you're asking? Cause he looks nice? You should go up and let him know if you do," he yapped while openly pointing in said person's direction, uncaring of how obnoxious his actions looked.

Then again, perhaps "uncaring" wasn't the right term when he was more than aware of his behavior. In truth, he hoped to gather attention from it, since that would make approaching thir target that much easier. After all, complimenting people made them more friendly towards you, and when someone was more friendly towards you, that made them all the more malleable. Potentially, that is. Whatever she wanted, a proper conversation would only help her.

... However, all the focus getting placed onto that cat really made his approach seem worthless. That was just annoying. His brow furrowed as a result, and he hummed in thought, wondering if stealing that temporary spotlight was actually worth it.

That was when it caught his eye: a girl clad in black and pink flowers speeding right past him. Her expression was admittedly pained and her hair not as put together as the other girls he'd seen. From his own (limited) experience, both things at once were bad signs, and it summoned a flood of speculation within his mind. Was it just a state of depression, or had she seen something? Gah, right, this whole thing was distracting him from his original goal: the investigation! What if that girl was actually running from danger? She could be an information gold mine in that case. So, with little hesitation, Aodhan gave a returning nudge to his companion, eventually tilting his head in the direction of the distressed brunette.

"Sorry, but my sherlock senses are downright tingling. I gotta check that out," he declared, and moved to where he'd last seen his newly dubbed information bank. By the time he reached, the young wizard didn't even bother gracing her nor the blonde cosplaying as an angel (because really, he couldn't imagine describing her as much else) with a proper greeting. He truly just barged in while tugging at his own collar, trying to adjust the way it dug into his neck from all the earlier movement.

"Detective Shaw on the case!" he shouted, seemingly right after the blonde had finished speaking, "You—flower girl! What happened? Did something scare you? Are you running from someone? Are you hiding something?"

Aodhan almost looked comical while spewing his barrage of questions, his eyes wide and sparkling out of sheer curiosity.

When Eric complimented her suit, Novalie beamed and spun around, giving him the full view, “Right? I’m so glad I could borrow it from a friend!”

As he then mused that everyone might dress more fancy or casually if given the chance, Novalie nodded, thinking back to her old school. Kids and even teachers dressed casually there - she herself used to wear her brother’s oversized shirts and pants that barely fit. No one minded, though, in her old school, a lot of kids have been just like her. But here, things felt different. So many of her classmates seemed... well, better off?
Novalie shrugged off the thought with a chuckle at Eric’s next comment about her tendency to get distracted anyways.
“Aww, shucks! You know me too well!”, she laughed.

Eric was right, the Ravenclaw girl was always getting distracted, especially around him. It was almost too easy to find topics to talk about, like they were perfectly in sync even though their personalities were so different. It made hanging out with him a total blast!

Novalie noticed Eric trying one of the sweets on the table while they were talking, his expression shifting ever so slightly.
It had to be one of those super-sweet ones...
She’d picked up on his aversion to overly sugary treats in the time they’d spent together. Scanning the table for something that might suit him better, her eyes landed on a cupcake held by a girl (@Meyra Lancaster) standing nearby. Before the girl could take a bite though, Novalie casually placed her hand over it and lifted it with a quick 'Just a sec.' as if it were the most natural thing to do.
Turning to Eric, she held up the cupcake,
“Have you seen these? They look wild, right?”
She grinned, noting the eerie red icing dripped on top. It almost seemed like blood - a vampire would have jumped on it instantly, Novalie was sure. Already forgetting entirely that it wasn’t hers, she took a small bite, surprised to find it not as sweet as it appeared. Great!

The blonde girl strolled away from the startled girl, expecting Eric to follow and handed him the cupcake,
“Here, take it.”
And as if the cupcake handoff was the most ordinary exchange, she moved on to the next topic, her eyes twinkling,
“Oh, and about the game..”, she said, glancing around the Great Hall, “I signed up with Evpraksiya, Alyss, and Elena… somewhere around here...”
She scanned the crowd, but they must have wandered off.
Huh, weird. Novalie had seen them just a minute ago. Well, whatever.
Turning her head back to Eric, she looked at him with a bright smile,
“You have to join us! It’ll be so much more fun with you there!”

Oakleigh was surprised when she was stopped by the blonde girl. Was she really rushing out in such a... rushy way? Maybe she should've been a bit more non-chalant.

"Leaving already?" The blonde had asked. Oakleigh gave her a meek nod in return. She didn't seem to notice her saddened state. Okay, well if she did, the blonde didn't mention it. Was it out of kindness, or was she silently mocking her? At this point, Oakleigh didn't know."I’m Evpraksiya." Oakleigh wouldn't even bother to give her name a try. She'd butcher it too bad.

"Ay'm Oakleigh." The girl's Scottish accent was heavy. It was clear she was raised with it. Well, there was a hint of Welsh in there as well. This girl seemed kind. The way she spoke it was clear this blonde girl was a pure-blood. They all had that delicate way of speaking, the way they showed themselves. She hardly had time to talk more when a rambunctious boy came strutting over.

"You—flower girl! What happened? Did something scare you? Are you running from someone? Are you hiding something?" He shouted before he reached her. This kid was loud. The ball was already loud, why did someone want to make it even louder?

He seemed like a makeshift Sherlock Holmes. Well, at least a Watson. She was sure she had seen this kid before. Well, both of them. Classes maybe? Or just out and about? Never could remember.

Wait? Flower girl? Interesting thing to call her. Well, she assumed it made sense to anyone else around. She did have flowers in her hair and on her dress. Okay, enough.

When the boy pressured her with questions, each one more pressing than the last. She just stammered, unsure of how to answer the energetic boy. He was... interesting to say the least. Normally she'd be energetic right back. "Aye uh, well... No? Well yes? Aye ain't hiding something, but hiding isn't the right word for the first one. The hiding question aye mean. I didn't running from someone aye mean. Maybe aye am, that ain't the right word for it. Ay'm not scared. Aye mean, not in the way yeez are thinking." The girl spewed. It all came out in one word other than an actual sentence. She picked at her cuticles, a nervous habit she had gained over the years. Her former one was hair chewing. Okay, maybe not former. She still did it from time to time.

The detail about borrowing the suit didn't go unnoticed to him. He was observant alright, especially when it came to one of the very few friends he made here (partly that being his mistake of not really interacting with a lot of other students.) But he either had the tact, or was hesitant enough overall to press the subject further. And well not like he had time since the next moment he looked at her she was already moving to grab a cupcake from another student. Here we go again...

To be honest, he was about to stop her as soon as he saw her approach the other girl, as if he already thought what could possibly happen from this, only to be too late having her return with the cupcake. How is she so oblivious? Scratch that how even is she so....so...so....AHHH he couldn't find even a word to describe her here. "Yes I've seen them they are quite tasty now please Novalie return the-" And she took a bite out of it of course...."cupcake" He sighed not even bothering here taking it from her when she gave it and just taking a bite out of it as well looking a bit apologetic towards the girl who just had the treat basically stolen from her, not that there were a lot more where that came from, but the thought counted.

Just another normal day with Nova...just another normal- Oh she signed up already? Well there was the saying the more the merrier, he doubted that would be the case. He knew Evpraksiya so that was one thing...Really they have known each other for a while now given that their parents were interacting quite a bit with one another, so as a result him and Ev had quite a few interactions as well even prior to Hogwarts. But other than that? No other known names to ring a bell. Still wouldn't be the first and by far not the last time either that he may just be proved wrong. Regardless...if he was here he may as well. "Yeah sure, I'll...sign up as well." He followed after her quite a bit, frankly prior to noticing Novalie was there his plans for the gala were simple. Go there just to see what it's about, maybe get some snacks if he feels like it, and then return to the dorms quietly and subtly as usual. Well of course that plan is out the window now.

"What even is that game about?" He didn't really ask around or seem interested in that before. He knew there was one. Yes. But it was hardly difficult to hear about it. He didn't though get interested in participating, or really even what it was about until now. "And shouldn't we go and find the rest? Isn't it about to start?" Of course he didn't REALLY know whether or not it was starting now or later or whenever else. He was just assuming it by the fact that well...this was a unique night of festivities. So by that logic, the game shouldn't be that far from starting either.

Have permission from Novalie for slight implying. After plotting with Evpraksiya we reached a common ground of making Eric and Ev know each other since they were kids as they grew up as childhood acquaintances/friends

"Ah... Sabrina."

Temporarily he was blown away, she looked very pretty in such a dress. Not to mention the silver heels, the outfit all came together naturally for someone like her. The pit in Zyair's stomach seemed to lessen after seeing her- it was harder to regret his decision when the decision he made was standing in front of him. "You look wonderful." He held out his arm for her to take, he had seen gentlemen do it in movies, feeling just a little suave.

"I'm very well, but I believe I will be exceptional by the end of the night." Man, he hoped. Maybe he'd realize that he didn't actually make a mistake asking Sabrina out instead of Scout, and maybe he'd be confident in his decision by the time the night was over. Him and Sabrina would have a nice dance and then all would be well- maybe he'd even find himself some time to go seek out Casey to help him with his rigmarole. "And though I don't speak Spanish, I sure hope that you were only singing my praises."

Her sentence structure was far more advanced than Zyair's, with his Spanish sounding more akin to high-school level. Of course he knew a few phrases and words, he could say he was tall or that his birthday was in November, but his structure was clunky. As is with all of the languages he knows, but at least he knows something in them.

"Shall we dance, mon-"

Zyair cuts himself off, almost finishing with 'ange' angel. He could've sworn for a moment or three that he saw Scout staring back at him instead of Sabrina, his legs threatening to buckle for just a moment. Honestly he wasn't sure when he had made the association of angel with Scout, but he knew he had already called her that in one of his letters. An awkward moment passed and Zyair realized he hadn't even finished his sentence. Does he just say amie? It wasn't like she would know what it meant, he could definitely pass by with it. "Ahem- mon chère." my dear. Dear would work fine, too.

Zyair was starting to take back everything he said about this being easy, but at least all he had to do now was dance for a little bit and then he could leave to go anywhere but this Hall. Hopefully she'd feel less peeved about him leaving if he spent just a little bit more time by her side.
