she wasn't looking for a knight. she was looking for a sword... and maybe a whoopee cushion would be useful too.
PERSONALITY
Reducio
Cassie tends to wear her heart on her sleeve, so you always know exactly where you stand with her. However, this is different for some negative emotions: although she is fine with letting people know that she is angry or even scared, she thinks of crying as a sign of weakness and refuses to cry in front of others if she can help it. She can keep cool in most situations, but often tends to slip up when trying to find excuses for her wrongdoings, which are sadly often as she likes playing pranks. Depending on her mood, she may keep grudges, and she has quite a temper, although she often just releases it by punching her pillow when she is alone. Cassie is sensitive to any remarks made about her height, and anyone heard calling her 'shortie' or similar will likely be graced with an unpleasant retort and ignored for the rest of the week (unless, that is, they are such a close friend of Cassie's that they only get the retort). This is the same for anything said about her family, religion, or friends. Cassie tries not to start fights unless there's no other option, but has no qualms in joining in one that's already been started if it's to defend a friend or for another reason she agrees with. In said fights, she's more likely to use her fists than her wand, since she has no confidence in her magical abilities and knows that her strength is more reliable. Due to Cassie's outgoing tendancies and habit of attempting to do everything all at once, most people in a class with her will know her name. Quite a lot of people like her, but many find that her tactlessness and unrefined enthusiasm is a little too much for them - not to mention her blood status as a muggleborn, which Cassie makes no attempt to hide and even flaunts in some situations.
RANDOM INFO
Reducio
Cassie never lies. However, she can be sarcastic when the situation calls for it (and even when it doesn't).
When introducing herself, she makes sure to point out that she has two first names and a double-barrelled surname, but that 'you can call me Cassie'.
She used to like acting with her friends in Godric's Hollow but hasn't acted since moving to France.
In team situations, Cassie finds it hard to yield to authority. Therefore, she prefers solo sports. The closest she could find to that at Beauxbatons was broom racing, which she loves.
The name 'Heather' was chosen for her by her mother, who sees heather flowers as a symbol of strength.
Most of her family calls her Cassie, but her paternal grandmother calls her Cass.
Though she could just get bruises and scabs healed by magic, Cassie usually doesn't because she can't be bothered to walk all the way from the grounds (where she usually gets injured) to find the nurse.
Since she speaks French for most of the year while at school, Cassie's French contrains barely a trace of an English accent.
Her handwriting is disjointed and often smudged since she prefers to write with a biro.
She lives in a fairly small village close to Paris.
[*] Since moving permenantly to France, Cassie has gained French citizenship over English, but she sees herself as a citizen of both France and England.

APPEARANCE
Reducio
Cassie has thin brown hair which she usually ties in a loose plait, and grey eyes which are usually either sparkling with mischief or set in determination. Though she isn't exactly ugly, she isn't very pretty either, a fact which she doesn't attempt to change and is even a little proud of. She is quite short for her age. This is the only thing about her appearance that she's sensitive about, since she is a firm believer that it's what's on the inside that matters. It's unusual to find her without any scabs, scratches, or bruises from her time spent on the broom racing track and quidditch pitch, which also gives her quite tanned skin in the summer months, and her nails are usually bitten down to stubs. When Cassie isn't in her Beauxbatons uniform, which isn't her favourite thing to wear by a long shot (as proven by how little she takes care of it: a few buttons are missing from her coat and both her cravat and shirt are nearly always untucked), or her broom racing gear, which is scuffed and constantly covered in grass stains (something which Cassie is very proud of because she says it shows that she 'works hard'), she can generally be foundwearing jeans and a t-shirt, probably with some sort of slogan on it. She barely ever wears jewelry, apart from a rosary bracelet given to her by her paternal grandmother, which she is almost never seen without.

HISTORY
Reducio
Pierre Martin was a French-born baker who moved to England for a year at the age of 21 to learn its language. However, he ended up staying for far longer than planned when he met Harriet McGregor (a 22-year-old who was training to be a teacher) and the two formed a steadfast friendship that eventually turned to love. Fast-forward eight years, and not only were the pair married and settled together in Godric's Hollow, but they were welcoming into their family their first and only child, Cassie Heather.
Cassie spent the first ten years of her life growing up happily in Godric's Hollow - learning, playing pranks and proud to call herself 'one of the troop'. The Troop was a group of friends who went around pranking people, warding off bullies and occasionally putting on small theatre productions. She had no idea of the magical nature of most members, and (as they believed she was a muggle) they were careful to hide it from her. (Credit goes to Scarlett Aden for creation of the Troop - all mentions and godmodding of the Troop have been approved by her.) At the age of four, Cassie's parents discovered that she had a moderate allergy to strawberries, and eating one in any form resulted in vomiting, violent coughing and lightheadedness about ten minutes after they were consumed. If she ate a large amount of strawberries, she may faint. Since then she has never eaten one.
Her first experience of magic was when she was six years old and, after a disastrous experience involving a broken bottle of orange hair dye, managed to magically wash the dye from her hair, leaving it as it was before. Seeing as her parents didn't notice and she never got into trouble for it, she never told a soul and eventually had herself convinced that it was a 'trick of the light', however weak the excuse sounded even to her.
When she was ten years old, she and her parents moved to Paris, France, in order to live closer to Pierre's parents, Xavier and Brielle. Her first experience of magic in France was when she forgot to take a sick bag with her off the plane, and threw up all over the steps. After a second, the sick was gone and everyone seemed to forget it had ever existed, which suited Cassie just fine.
She spent the next year learning to speak fluent French rather than the few phrases she had learned from her dad at home, and attending a French primary school where she was known primarily as 'le enfant des Anglais' (the English child), though she did make several friends.
When she was ten years old, Cassie discovered that she was a witch through an invitation to attend Beauxbatons, which she accepted after pleading with her parents to let her go to boarding school.
She grew up as a Catholic Christian, and is still one now - she says her prayers in English every night, and (though she is not able to go to Church while at school) she still counts herself as a practicing Catholic.
She hasn't contacted any of her friends from either Godric's Hollow or Paris since, apart from seeing her French friends whilst home for the holidays. Much to her regret, she was forced to completely sever contact with her English ones due to the absence of a muggle post office near Beauxbatons.
She has since discovered herself to have a talent for flying (on broomsticks, of course, though she doesn't yet have one of her own) and casting counter-spells.
At home, she speaks a mix of French and English in order to make sure she doesn't forget either language, and at school speaks mostly French, though she has been learning some basic sign language from her friend Sébastien Batteux (Stanley Buttons).
While at Beauxbatons, Cassie has been hearing sometimes disturbing rumours of a group named SCAR, run by squibs. She's heard some things that suggest they're a peaceful group who just want more rights for squibs, but also some that suggest they're terrorists who will do anything to meet their ends. After witnessing first hand the results of their Hogsmeade bombing, during which Koldov students her age were killed in cold blood, Cassie is starting to agree with the latter.
courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.

a true friend is someone who thinks you're a good egg even though they know you're slightly cracked.
Charles is one of Cassie's oldest and closest friends. He's the one who showed her how to get into the Place Cachée when she and her parents first went shopping for school supplies, and acted as a sort of tour guide to the wizarding world. She genuinely likes the Durmstrang boy and thinks of him like a brother. One side effect of this is that Cassie sees it her responsibility to look out for 'Charlie' and try to protect him from himself.
Cassie practically grew up with Scarlett, whom she was best friends with when they both lived in Godric's Hollow. She had resigned herself to never being able to write to or see her again when she started Beauxbatons, but was delighted to discover when she visted Hogwarts for the first time that Scarlett, along with everybody else in The Troop (the nickname they had given their friendship group) was magical as well. Since then, Cassie looked forward to seeing her friend on each visit to Hogwarts, until Scarlett was pulled out in order to be homeschooled by her aunt. The girls still exchange letters (in which Cassie tries to come up with as many nicknames for her as she possibly can) but Cassie hasn't seen Scarlett in a while.
Cassie was first introduced to Drew by Charles in May 2021 and started off seeing him just as 'Charles' friend'. Since then, though, she's gotten to know him better on Hogwarts visits and through letters and considers him a close friend.
Despite being in the year below Cassie due to illness during their second year, Berry is still one of Cassie's closest friends at Beauxbatons. Plus, the two share a birthday, which is possibly one of the reasons they became friends in the first place. Berry's even teaching Cassie some simple FSL (French Sign Language), which Cassie is enjoying, and they hosted a joint birthday party together for their thirteenth birthdays.
