The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
Jackie looked over Robin whilst giving her a friendly but rather awkward wave. "Uhh, hello!" She didn't expect to be making friends this quickly, but when she mulled it over it seemed unavoidable. They were in a humongous room full of students from this year to years past. It'd be hard not to meet someone new with so many chatty people around. Nevertheless, if Olive was this eager to make friends, then maybe she should do the same? "Nice to meet you, Robin." She wore a blankly courteous smile, but tried her absolute best to appear friendly. Finally, her hunger won her over as she shoved a piece of bacon inside her mouth, followed by a forkful of pork chop. While glancing at the candles overhead, she began to think of a few conversation topics. It would be a little strange to just go on back to eating after just introducing yourself, and then never mention anything else. She was trying to fit in and make a friend after all. As the nagging hunger subsided, her thoughts wandered back to the journal Olive and she had started on the train. Her eyes lit up as she remembered an important task at hand. Turning back to Robin, she asked, "do you have any buttons to spare? Size or colour doesn't matter much." It didn't seem like a silly question at that moment, but she reflected on its stupidity only seconds after.Olive Bennet wrote: 23 Nov 2018, 18:44Olive pulled back her hand after the quick shake and shook her head, her hair bounced around with it. "I have not the slightest idea. In all honesty, I didn't even know I was witch until last summer!" Olive gave another large smile before opening her mouth to speak. She was suddenly interrupted by a familiar first year who kindly pushed her closer to Robin.Robin oConnel wrote: Robin blinked surprised while she still had food in her mouth. She fastly chewed and swallowed her food, nearly choking with it; taking Olive’s hand with shyness and shaking it fastly.
“I’m Robin, nice to meet you...” Oh boy, what a time to be so shy when she was socializing, with courage she decided to start the talk with pink cheeks. “Do... you know how the food appeared out of nowhere? Because I don’t know anything about spells or magic.”
“So is magic awesome, or is it awesome?” she heard Jackie exclaim as she went straight to work piling her plate full of food.
Olive couldn't help but laugh as she plopped her arm over her friend's shoulder. "Yeah, it's pretty awesome alright. I can't believe we're in the same 'what'cha call-it.'" Her attention turned from Jackie back to Robin. Of course she could never just ignore this new friend "Oh, Robin, this is Jackie. Jackie, this is Robin. Now let's go be friends!"

“Are you by chance a muggle born too?” She squeaked,a little happy that she said wan’t stupid at all. Then, Olive was being closer to her, but because she was being pushed by another female student, who was smiling at Olive, saying how magic was amazing.
Robin quickly assumed by the familiarity they talked with each other and how the other girl was amused, they both were childhood friends from the muggle community. She might be wrong about it, but it was interesting guessing people’s relationships. Until Olive introduced the other girl, who was actually named Jackie devoured her food merciless in mere seconds. Wow.
"Do you have any spare buttons?" Jackie asked without noticing the food in the corner of her lip. Puffing a small laugh at the sight, put a finger in here mouth, indicating where she had food.
"I believe I actually do, but it's in my dormitory." Robin answered. "Do you need them now? before that, do you know each other for a long time or somethign similar? I'm sorry if it's something private, it just gave me a pinch of curiosity."
She took another bite from her plate, loving every inch of smashed potatoes, yep, this needed a sausage too.

"Muggle-born..." Olive muttered as she roughly scratched her head before fiddling with the bandage on her cheek. She was sure she heard that term passed around before, but what in the devil’s name did it- of course! That's what Jackie and her parents called her after finding out that Olive was, in fact, a witch. "Oh yeah, I guess I am. I is a really fun story, too." She trailed off as Jackie introduced herself and used this time to her advantage as she began to pile up on various sweet foods and potatoes... a grand mountain of potatoes.Robin oConnel wrote: “Are you by chance a muggle born too?” She squeaked,a little happy that she said wan’t stupid at all. At the time she took to stack her plate, she was so busy and engaged with finding out how she was going to finish all the food that came from the endless trays, she was oblivious to Jackie's introduction. it was only until she heard Robin respond for something about buttons that it hit her.
She threw her head up and gulped down her food and laughed loudly before making a point to say to Jackie "First off, we need to start this year with a good record. And I don't think it works on just plain old buttons. You have to turn them into buttons first, I think..?"
It´s okay if you don´t like me. Not everyone has good taste.

[Responding to Olive Bennet and Robin oConner]
Jackie noticed Robin pointing at her own mouth, and realized that a bit of food must’ve been there. She used a spare napkin to brush off the bit of pork resting at the bottom of her lip, wondering how long it had been there. Once Robin began speaking, she was all ears, and answered her questions readily as she finished. “It’s not much of a private question, so you’re fine,”she paused, thinking for a moment. “Olive and I grew up in Kensington together and shared the same primary school,” she began, “plus, Olives kinda hard to miss with all the trouble she’s caused even without me.” She grinned in Olives general direction. “As for the buttons, we don’t need them right away. Anytime would be good.”
Her grin slowly turned into a frown as Olive began to speak of keeping a good record, and doubting the idea they had. “What? Olive, you’re usually the one convincing me to go along with a crazy idea! Where did your sense of adventure run off to?” Jackie took another small bite of pork chop, chewing it rapidly and swallowing before continuing. “And transfiguration works both ways I think.” To be honest, she really didn’t know. Her mother had always turned insects into buttons whenever needed, but she never noticed her do it the other way around. It didn’t matter though, they’d just have to experiment and figure out if it works.

Arielle took her seat at the Ravenclaw table, scanning around for any familiar faces. No one. Mournfully, she started on her fish and chips. She hated fish. She was an American student, so all the new Hogwarts foods felt weird. She was tired. She had just been called home for a Thanksgiving trip and had just gotten back to Hogwarts. Nobody, here that she knew. As the meal moved on to the dessert, trifle, which she did like, even though she had never tried it before. Honestly, in her dorm, she was the youngest member, which she wasn't used to. She had never been exactly popular, even though she was in the dorm of one of the most popular Ravenclaw witches ever, Cho Chang. In her dorm, one girl had spoken to her, since the start of term. She pulled out her favorite book and started reading. She read about many things, but "fantasy" that seemed like it could fit in at Hogwarts was her favorite. She started to put the book away, to head up to her dormitory, but she saw somebody standing near her. She jumped up, startled. The boy was in his first year, wore glasses like her, which lay over green eyes. He had blond hair and wore a panda hoodie.

Kenni smiled lightly.Charlise Worthington wrote: 1 Nov 2018, 09:56 “Oh no problem. I’ve had to improve my reflexes, you know, living in a house with 4 chaotic kids like my family.” Charlise smiled, while shrugging. “My name’s Charlise. Charlise Worthington. Nice to meet you.” She said, her thick Scottish accent making it clear of her background. She held out her hand for Kenni to shake.
Charlise scooted over on the bench, so Kenni had a little more space. Kenni looked like an interesting person, and Charlise couldn’t wait to keep talking to her to get to know her better.
Could this girl be another friend? I really hope so. She seems nice, Charlise thought.
Charlise sneezed and looked up at the roof above the Great Hall. It looked beautiful. Tonight it was a deep blue, speckled with stars. The floating candles made it look even more like a starry night. She imagined being able to jump from star to star, up in space, with her non-magical bestfriends. She grinned, and was suddenly jolted from her imagination by the clicking of a students fork dropping onto the floor.
"Oh, sorry. I was just a little lost in my imagination," Charlise said, remembering that Kenni was sitting next to her. "What does the sky remind you of?" She asked.
"The sky reminds me of home." She paused thoughtfully.
"It makes me think of back home. I would escape the noise of my household by crawling out my window and laying on my roof at night. I'm one of 6 kids, you know. The night sky helps make me feel at peace. The amenity and predictability of the constellations help drown out the noise around me. I've become so absolutely entranced by them, that I unknowingly charted them."
She turns and gives Charlise a sideways gaze, smiles a little, but friendly, warm glimmer sparkles in her eyes.
"It's funny how it works when you love something. You quickly learn so much about them, that it's almost as though you know them as well as you know yourself." She returns her gaze to her plate of food, thinking of her brothers. Her smile falls as they continue to consume her mind. She thought of how her brother came storming in one day, telling with pride how he joined some anti-muggle group. He said how he wants everyone in her family to join in order that she could escape punishment from that very group.
Since then, the amount of blackmail, hexes, and spells she's had placed on her house and sent to her family has left the house with multiple holes and various magical creatures roaming the lawn. The roof has become her escape from all of that. The only safe spot.
She exhales quickly and looks up to Charlise, clearing her throat and her thoughts. "So, 4 kids, eh? You the eldest?"

Charlise didn't elaborate and the silence was filled with semi-awkward tension. In deciding to break said tension, Kenni just kept talking. "I'm the second youngest, so I pretty much get all hand-me-downs. I have my younger sister, Fiona, and that's about it. My older brothers are Kilo, Evryn, Blaise, and Jamison. Jamison and I are the closest. He's actually in his fourth year here. He and I are opposites, but we go well together. Blaise is in America, training as an auror. Evryn is in London, in the care of magical creatures. Hagrid helped him fall in love with the animals. He only graduated last year. And," her smile faded and her face darkened slightly. "Kilo graduated three years ago. He... we..." She sighed, searching for the right words. "We don't exactly talk about him."
There was a tense silence that fell between them for a second and Kenni stared at her plate in thought. She then shook her head and in an instant, the darkness that was previously there fell away to reveal her usual, calm, wise-beyond-her-years expression.
"He's a handful, I'll tell ya that." She smirked in a feeble attempt to lighten the mood.
"Now," She turned so she was facing Charlise. "Enough about me. Tell me more about yourself. What's it like for you back home?"

Ysabelle looked up quickly, her shoulder length dirty blonde locks flying around her face as her head whipped up. Her chocolate brown eyes landed on the girl to the left of her and she realized she was talking to her. Ysabelle's tanned skin grew red as she blushed in embarrassment. "Hello! It's nice to meet you as well Viviana, my name is Ysabelle Raine." She said as she introduced herself. Her voice was higher pitched but not annoyingly so.
Ysabelle forced her voice to not quiver as she managed to keep the anxiety from bleeding into her voice. Her small nimble fingers played with the sleeves of her robes. She often fiddled with things to keep herself pre-occupied and to keep her mind busy.
Replying to Ysabelle Raine
Viviana attempted to keep the smile on her face. Seeing Ysabelle fiddle around with things nearly made her wish to copy her actions and nervously play with her food. She refrained, however, because if both of them turned into nervous puddles then who would talk and attempt to solidify a friendship on the most important day of the year?
Viviana soldiered on with resolve, not allowing her own anxiety to reach a level too difficult to handle. "You have a beautiful name, Ysabelle. Would it be too bold of me to ask about your interests? They're simple questions, really. Such as, do you enjoy reading?"
She tried not to chew her lip nervously as she awaited a reply. Was that too daring of her? Should she have waited to been asked a question first? Such thoughts would not leave her and she dreaded the fact that she'd not much experience when it came to talking to people her age.
Still, this should strengthen her will to reach out and attempt to do what she normally wouldn’t have the courage to do. The thought made her glance briefly towards the rambunctious table where students were clad in bold red colors. Gryffindor, the house her mother hailed from.
May the memory of her bright spirit bring her the ability to keep one foot in front of the other at all times. And may her fathers friendly nature rub off on her and tone down any tension she seemed to exude from her very presence.
She wished they were here, but they could not be for different reasons entirely. However, with their teachings, Viviana managed to pry her gaze away from the Gryffindor table to look at Ysabelle.

Nigel wasn't entirely sure what to do with himself now. Everything from the train up until this moment-- that had been decided for him, the steps already laid out to follow. But now, with this great crowded table laid out before him... He took a breath, and sat down in what appeared to be an empty spot.Arielle Fox wrote: 26 Nov 2018, 00:59 Arielle took her seat at the Ravenclaw table, scanning around for any familiar faces. No one. His grin became a touch more genuine as he noticed. Fish was always good. "Do you know if we're allowed to just, y'know, take some of it? The food, I mean." What was he doing? Nigel forced himself to relax, consciously settling himself into his place. This was his place, after all, even if it was also his first year. He'd gotten the admittance letter, and been Sorted as normal, and he had everything he needed for class. It would all be fine. Nervous hands brushed a stray lock of hair out of his face, smoothing the braid down over his shoulder.
"Anyway," the stutter was a lot less noticeable now, "What's your name? It's great to meet you, really great, I mean I don't really know anybody yet, but I certainly am excited for the year!" That was a little better. Nervous chatter was better than silence, after all, when it came to making friends. At least this way, they could be awkward together.

Another boy took his seat near Arielle, this one with black hair, brown eyes, and chocolate skin, also a first year. The boy started to speak, nervously, and he stuttered: "H-hello." A nervous smile was on his face now "My name's Nigel."
"Hello, it's nice to meet you, Nigel."
The boy's eyes surveyed the table before him. He saw the fish, the disgusting fish, and his smile became wider and happier. "Do you know if we're allowed to just, y'know, take some of it? The food, I mean."
"Yeah, I guess, if you like it. That's what everybody else is doing, anyway." Nigel brushed some stray hair off his face and settled himself down in his seat. "Anyway," now, his stutter wasn't very noticeable "What's your name? It's great to meet you, really great, I mean I don't really know anybody yet, but I certainly am excited for the year!"
"My name is Arielle. I don't know very many people yet, either. I thought the classes would be a little easier, but they're really very hard, at least to get a good grade. I'm one of the youngest in my class, so it's hard to keep up with all the other students. They're all about to turn twelve, but I just turned eleven in the summer! Do you like to read at all? Do you think I'm talking too much?" Arielle winced as the words flew from her mouth. Yes, she was definitely talking too much.
