March 18, 2021Hello there,
I see you've found my letter. Don't put it back just yet. At least read this through once. And, if you feel up to it, I'd love to hear back. It doesn't matter if you have a lot to share, or a little. I've found that anonymous letters are wonderful things. You can get things off your chest, have something to look forward to, make a new friend, or at least have something to do on those long evenings. Give it a try!
Anyway, I am a student, I'll say that much. Last time I accidentally let more information on me slip and my pen pal figured out who I was. Then again, I'd been sending letters back and forth for months so I guess it wasn't too much of a surprise. But this time, I'll be certain to make sure that I stay 100% anonymous. Unless, of course, you would like to meet at some point. Which, may happen, I don't know.
I'm a decent writer I'd like to say. A few stumbles here and there. I've been having someone help teach me to write some. So that makes my letters way better than they used to be. I also started doing a lot more letter writing recently. That's why I thought to do this in the first place. But don't feel like you have to match my length, I ramble a lot. One funny thing about me is in person, I hardly talk that much, but in a letter, I can't stop talking writing.
So, if you've read this far, you may as well respond. It would never hurt. Tell me about yourself, hobbies, things you like to do, things that annoy you, or don't. Maybe you just want to talk abstractly sort of like I am with no real reason. I'm game for just about anything. Anyway, I'd love to hear from you!

March 20, 2021.I feel werid weird writing a letter to someone without knowing if they'll ever see it.
But anyways... hi, Hiraeth. it took me five minutes to figure out how to pronounce that
I think this might be fun though. I'm just gonna put this where I found it because I don't know where else I should put it. Just in case you don't find it.
And don't worry. I think I'll probably be staying anomnymous too... I guess. Maybe in the future, we could meet? Maybe, I'm not sure.
I feel like I'm the opposite, I talk a lot in real life but as you can probubly probably tell, but I don't feel like I'm talking enough here. And I'm not all that good at spelling either... I'll learn though. Your spelling seems very good!
And.. I don't know what to say about myself either. I like pink and I have a cat. She's adoreable adorable too. I got her last Christmas which, doesn't seem so long ago so I feel weird calling it last Christmas. I'm still in my first I also have a big family, and I'm really excited for my sister to come to Hogwarts too. I don't know why but I get really excited when I see someone I recognize that I know.
Hopefully you find this.

March 21Adeline,
Well it's good for you that I did see it! No more needing to worry if I'd find it or not. I plan on leaving this letter in the same place, just slipped under the owl shelf thing. A decent spot if I do say so myself. I spotted it after sending out another owl to my family. How did you find it?
And hi Adeline! It's such a pretty name. It's your pen name I'm guessing, since you said you were staying anonymous. But you don't have to reply to that if you don’t want. Like, if its your actual name or something. Anyway, I don't even know how to pronounce Hiraeth! I was flipping through a dictionary (as one does) and came across the word and thought it sounded cool. Apparently it’s a welsh word/concept for home. But like, missing a home/time/era/person, and a part I liked, or also homesickness for what never existed or may not exist anymore. Sort of deep, but a cool word.
One of the cool things about spelling and grammar is the more you do it, the better you get. Oh, don't get me wrong, I rewrite things a LOT before I send them out. I think this is my third copy. I try really hard to not send anything with scratched out stuff. Unless the rest of it sounds good. Because I just can't stand the idea of someone noticing a mistake I didn't catch.
Anyway, pink is cool, I tend to like teal more though. And I have a cat too! I have a complicated family, but I've got a brother. I get that, it's always really nice to see someone you know. When I saw my brother sorted it was crazy and amazing to see him again, I didn't even know he was being invited. But that's also a story for another time.
So, I didn't really give you to terribly much to go off of this letter so I decided to leave a list of random questions. Choose which ones you like to answer and choose a couple for me to answer next time. Then hopefully we can more topics going?
What is your favorite class and why? What do you like to do with your time off? What is your favorite part about magic? Is there anything you want to be when you grow up? Who is someone you look up to? And I ran out of ideas…
Hope you are doing well!

P.S. Of course I had to misspell the literal last word on this letter… but I don't want to rewrite the entire thing so here you go

March 22Hi Hiraeth!
That's smart! At least I'll be able to remember where to find it. I lose track of stuff all the time, my mum gets really annoyed with me because of that. I think I lost something here - so that's how I found this! Anyways, I still have no clue what this thing it's for at all.
Also thank you! It's not mine haha it's actually my sister's it's a friend of mine's name. It's a really pretty name, I agree. And whoa that sounds cool! Sounds meaningful but different at the same time. Maybe I should flip through the dictionary more, I don't know what Adeline means. I'm gonna try to find that later.
That sounds like good advice! I'm proud of myself because I have less mistakes on this letter (I think) than the last one. I make a LOT of mistakes as you can tell because I'm not all that good at writing yet. And I agree that does sound icky and makes me self-consiousconscious (sorry I messed that up too) so I will try to remember proof-read in the future.
Teal is a pretty color too! And I get that feeling... sort of! It sounds really nice to see someone after a long time of not seeing them. I can't imagine what that feels though - I've always had my family by my side if I need them, but something's bound to happen sooner or later. Not that I want them to leave - ever.
Ooo that sounds like a cool idea! I'm gonna try to stuff as many answers as I can here without running out of ink. Here goes -
Firstly I think my favorite class would have to be Charms. Maybe not only because it's my best subject but also because it's fun and I like casting those charms. It makes me feel cool too.
I don't really know what I like to do in my free time. Mostly I just read or talk to someone. Sometimes I just wander around and do some thinking.
When I grow up... I haven't planned that far yet. I dunno what I'm good at, you know? I really want to be someone that makes other people happy, and I really don't want to mess up either.
And I can't think of someone I idolize - maybe some of the older years? It's incredable incredible how they've made it so far, I can't wait for once I get to seventh year and be able to think "wow, I managed to get all the way here".
I guess it's my turn to ask questions! Here goes -
- Which day of the week is your favorite?
-, owl, or toad?
- What plans do you have for the future?
I... may have ran out of ideas too. But I guess I'm also asking you your own questions! What about you?

Adeline,
Oh, there's no need to worry about your writing! I totally understand being self-conscious about it. And there's no need to ever apologize about messing up. It's bound to happen after all. You should have seen my first letters, especially the ones to my brother. I'm shuddering just thinking about it. It really doesn't take too long to improve though, especially if you read someone else's stuff right before it. I don't know why, but that always seems to help. My brother Lia-- um, lets give my brother the codename Weasley, you know, like the joke shop, he's very much a prankster. Anyway, Weasley used to write a ton and I'd always admire his writing, I learned a lot from reading it.
Charms is great, so many fun things to learn. I used to not be great at Charms, but when we learned but the idea of Healing Spells got me a lot more interested in improving. My current favorite class is probably Transfiguration, mostly because of the science aspects in it.
Ohh, you read? What books? Or like, what genre? I kind of got out of reading some but I like to read a bit right before bed and recently finished all the books I got last summer. I've also been SUPER crafty lately so if you ever have an hour or two to spare I could give you a list of crafts to do.
I totally get that. It's only recently that I discovered my knack for healing. But I'm still not sure that it's what I'm meant to do or not. My one word of advice is just try new things. And theres definitely no rush to hurry up and find a passion or anything. And having lofty ideas or some sort of trajectory (haha, I actually spelled that right) won't ever mess you up.
I can't imagine being a seventh year. I can't even believe I'm in the year I am!
Alright so I accidentally ended up answering your questions too… whoops… well, I can still answer the questions you have for me! So here goes:
I really like Fridays, especially in the evenings. Usually the teachers are a little bit nicer and relatable and I do enjoy classes for the most part. Then after classes are over you just have that feeling of two days of semi-freedom. I usually end up doing a lot of dueling (whoops) magic practice, sometimes get to catch up with friends, fun adventures always seem to happen on Fridays anyway.
I really love owls. They are so pretty and majestic and always seem to be very keen. But cats are my favorite. I have a cat of my own and he was with me through some really tough times. Not to mention the fact that I'm pretty sure he can read my mind.
Future plans. I mean, I sort of already talked about career wise, Healing and stuff. But in the coming years I hope to maybe become a prefect. And figure out what in the world is going on in the school.
Alright, now questions for you: Would you like to be famous? What would be like, the 'perfect' day? Which meal is the most important? Would you rather get 10 million Galleons today or in monthly payments spread out across your lifetime?

For @Katrina WalkerHiya Hiraeth! that rhymed... I think!
Ooh, that's cool! Maybe I'll ask and see if anyone will help me with my writing. I have a brother and he really likes to write - he spends a lot of time in his room and I can hear the scratches from his quill. He sends a lot of owls too. I wonder what he likes to write so much about? Maybe I'll ask him during Easter break.
Which reminds me, are you doing anything for Easter break? It's fine if you don't want to say so! I'm probably going to go home to Mum and Dad and we might do a little bit of travelling. Or we might just stay at home and celebrate. Maybe we'll do a little Easter egg hunt or something! That'll be fun!
Now that I think about it, healing spells sound interesting too. Maybe I'll see if I can read more about it later! I like Charms because of it's variety... and because I'm good at it. And I've never really thought about that! Tranfigurasion Transfiguration is sometimes confusing for me, but it can be fun at times.
As for books, hmm.. that's actually a hard question when you really think about it. My parents are telling me that I should try and keep more up-to-date on the latest news in like, the Daily Prophet and stuff, but sometimes that stuff is just boring to me. I haven't been doing as much reading lately - I guess I'm just busy. But I do really like "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" - that's a classic - "Quidditch Through the Ages" - my brother made me read this, but it's actually pretty interesting! - and "Important Modern Magical Discoveries" - I really liked reading about new things and discoveries that are popping up. What about you? What books do you enjoy?
It's cool that you like to craft! I've never really had a preference on that, but maybe I'll try some out! What do you have in mind?
I'll definitely keep that in mind!
I get that! I prefer Sunday though - it's a complete relaxed day for me, the day right before everything kicks into overdrive. And owls are really pretty, I agree. I mean, they can fly! I really want to be able to fly - like, not with a broom or anything. Like, really fly. That would be really fun. But cats are just the most adorable things, and they're really snuggly too! And if I could, I would absolutely love to be a prefect. They all seem so important and that they know what they're doing! Maybe in another few several years...
Questions!! Here goes -
Hmm, it depends. Famous in a good way? I guess so, as long as it doesn't get in the way. Famous in a bad way? No thank you!
A 'perfect' day? That's hard to think of! I'd want to wake up to a gourmet breakfast - hey, if it's a perfect day, I'm going to treat myself - then spend a few hours hanging out with my friends and playing some games, then something that would make me really happy - maybe winning something or meeting someone I admire. I don't know, maybe my perfect day will change! It's hard to think of one set in stone...
I would probably say 10 million galleons in one day, but I don't know what a twelve year old I would do with all that money. So, I guess I should say monthly payments, just so I can have something... I think it's called... insurnace insurance, right? Something in case.
Okay, here's my questions!
If you could live in any other country, where would you live? Would you rather live in the ocean or on the moon? Sunrise, daylight, twilight, or nighttime? If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?

Adeline,
Merlin, I am so so so so so so so sorry this is such a late owl! I realized like a week ago that I forgot to respond when I found the letter crumpled up in the bottom of my book bag. Anyway, you don't want to hear my long lament of apologies and excuses. The most important part is that I finally remembered to respond so I am doing that now.
Anyway, I didn't do much over Easter break, I got to go to my guardian parents home and just did some art, a lot of dueling practice, and some extra studying. It was a bit of a let down but it wasn't horrible. How was your break? Did you end up doing the easter egg hunt?
That's super cool that you like reading the Daily Prophet, I honestly should really start reading it, there is so much that I miss out on. I enjoy mostly fantasy stuff, big muggle series are always entertaining, especially ones that include magic. It's sort of crazy what we they come up with with limited knowledge and imagination.
Well, I've recently been into finger crocheting blankets, I've probably made a good three dozen at this point. There's a book in the library that I can put with the next letter that explains it all. Otherwise, I had an embroidery phase, friendship bracelets, tea bags… basically any of the craft related errands I had a phase to go along with them. I'd totally recommend the craft errands by the way.
Sundays are great too. And flying would be great if I wasn't so wary of heights. And that perfect day sounds great, I'd totally be down for that day.
If I could live in any country, I think I'd just travel. Yeah, I know, I just totally avoided the question. But vacationing just seems like so much fun. I don't really ever seeing me settling down anywhere, unless my friends wouldn't travel with me. But if I really, really had to choose a place, I might choose Italy, I got to vacation there last summer and it was really fun.
I would want to live on the moon, so long as I could bring a small handful of friends with me. Like the almost total solitude, the serenity, I'd love to just bounce around. Besides, I'm not super comfortable with deep water like the ocean. But I'd still rather be on earth I think.
Twilight, but dark enough to see the stars. I'm obsessed with the night sky. And I love the nostalgic feeling of the near nighttime where you aren't quite tired but it's just magical. And I have so many amazing memories at twilight. The night time is also second best, but there's the drowsiness that isn't nearly as great.
If I were invisible, I'd actually do some watching. I mean it sounds horrible, but like, there's a lot of things I'd love to hear. Like, what people say about me, my friends, other events around the school. I'd probably also do some little nice things for people around the school (partially to make up for the guilt of eavesdropping).
Alright, question time!
What would be your dream pet? Dangerous or non-dangerous is irrelevant
What is something that never fails to calm you down?
Does peanut butter go on top or the bottom of a peanut butter jelly sandwich?
What is the best weather?

Hi Hiraeth!
Don't worry about it! I forget a lot of things a lot of the time too, so I don't blame you. I went home for Easter as well, and it was really nice to spend time with my family! That sounds super cool. We did do the easter hunt with the eggs, and it was fun, though I still don't really get the point of them? I think my parents said it was part of a religion, but it is fun. We decorated the eggs afterward, and I'm really proud of mine.
The Daily Prophet is honestly boring most of the time, but I do find it interesting and helpful so that I can keep up with the news. It's also mostly habit, honestly, since I'm used to reading it at home each day. I'd love to read some Muggle books though! I haven't read any before, but they do sound interesting. Any recommendations?
Ooh, that sounds awesome! That would be super helpful, crocheting sounds fun. I've done the knitting errand before, the one in December (I still have my scarf, by the way, though it's deformed), but other than that, I've never dabbled in the crafty sort of realm. Those all sound cool, though, I think it would be so fun to learn!
I agree! It would be great to go on a world trip or something, and see all sorts of sights and go to all different places. I've never been to Italy before, but I would love to go there one day! My family has moved to several different places in the United Kingdom (I don't remember most, to be honest, most were before I was six years old so I remember a few bits) but I think it would be fun to visit places like South America and Africa, since we haven't done much traveling outside of Europe.
Those sound like great reasons! Although, I think I would choose the ocean, if it were up to me. I think I would love the idea of being able to view underwater creatures up close, and it just seems like something that could never be possible, which is why I'd love to do it. Living on the moon would be super cool too!
I agree, twilight sounds like such an amazing time. I think I prefer sunrise, though, because it just feels like a period of time where it's warm but not too warm and I just love watching the sun rise. I think I would place twilight second on my list, though, and then daylight third. Nighttime would be last, because I don't hate nighttime, but I just think that it's the most creepy and unsettling at night. Nighttime has it's own beauty too, though!
I honestly believe that I would do the exact same, just because it would be interesting to see how people act without me present. I like to think I wouldn't feel guilty about it, but I probably would, and do a bunch of nice things as well. Although, maybe I wouldn't feel bad about a few small pranks. Maybe. Just a few small ones.
My dream pet would most definitely be a dragon. I just think it would be super cool to have a humungous scaled creature that could breathe fire and fly. They might unintentionally or intentionally kill me, but it would be amazing to have a dragon as a pet, small or big.
Hmm... I'm not sure. I think I'm a pretty calm person? I mean, I get mad sometimes, but doesn't everyone? Usually when I get mad, I can usually cool off by reading something or talking with a friend. I don't really have anything specific I do when I get really really mad, but I can't really say for myself.
The top... I think?
Cloudy weather. It's not too hot, and not too cold, and there's and occasional breeze. I get really iffy about the weather, honestly, which is why I particularly dislike the August/September months because it can be super warm and super cold during days of the same week, and the weather just goes out of order.
Questions!
Would you rather be reincarnated as a cat or a dog? If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? What's your favorite class? Your favorite dessert?

Adeline,
It’s been so long, I know. Its been… I don’t know, just really odd lately. I don’t mean to make this letter down or sad or anything, but its just been kind of difficult. Just chaotic to be honest. I don’t even know when or if you will ever check this spot again, I sort of stopped checking a while ago. I stopped writing letters all together so I just haven’t been around to see it.
I’ve missed our talking though, or rather our letter writing. It was really nice to just have a place to set a lot of things aside and talk about random fun things or vent about my life to someone who isn’t involved or really knows me outside the letters. I don’t know if its just me being nostalgic today or what but, I just really missed it.
I was just going through my old luggage over Christmas break and found my old letters, I spent a really long time reading through them all by the fire. It was rather nice.
I don’t know if you can tell but I’m a bit all over the place today. I’m sort of just writing what I’m thinking, just getting it all on paper. I’m not even sure if I’m going to leave this letter in the spot or just writing for the sake of getting it out of my head. But if you are reading this, that’s probably a good thing. I just wanted to reopen this avenue again I suppose.
Sometimes having an anonymous friend is more help than you’d think.
I do hope that you see this though. And I also hope you reply. I’d love to know what you’re up to and what’s been happening with you.
And I want you to know that there’s someone out there thinking of you.
