Summer Camp The Lake Party Closed

It was a warm summer afternoon, just perfect for a quick dip in the water. Irina and Nate had decided to join the lake party and walked together from their cabin to the lake. Everything was perfectly prepared, music was playing, picnic blankets were spread out and the lake smiled at them, inviting them to cool off. Nate went with Irina to one of the still free picnic blankets and laid his towel there before reaching under his T-shirt and taking it off. He already had his trunks on, tossed his T-shirt to his towel and stroked his black curly hair. His skin wasn't particularly tanned, but that would change quickly if he remained unprotected in the sun. His abs were showing and there was no denying that the Russian-American boy was athletic.

"Should we?" he addressed Irina, nodding towards the water. By now he was used to speaking in English, it was like being at home in America and his Russian accent was barely audible. The two of them walked together to the lake and Nate stood right in. The cool water surrounded his ankles and it was a pleasant coolness to the warm rays of the sun. He looked up at Irina, but he knew how girls liked to take their time getting into the cool water. He was more the type to close his eyes and go for it. He grinned cheekily at her, which already suggested that he had something in mind.

Unobtrusively, he strode towards his friend, paying no attention to her until he grabbed her and lifted her with ease and threw her into the water. He laughed out loud and jumped in after her, diving a few metres before coming back to the surface. He looked at her laughing and went through his hair so it didn't hang wet in his face. "Please don't be mad." He spoke to her now with a puppy dog look. "But you looked like a cool down would do you good." He now explained his actions and dropped onto his back so that he was floating on the surface of the water and could look up at the sky.

"CANNONBALL!" He called out as he ran straight off the highest platform, sporting very bright coloured flamingo swimming trunks. They were from Dolce & Gabbana, and they seemed relatively expensive in terms of muggle clothes so he figured it was a good brand. Plus, they were great.

Swimming was one of the activities that he actually did enjoy. He liked to exercise and the pool was a very refreshing way of getting some exercise in every day whilst also staying cool. Yes, he did enjoy working up a sweat but swimming was just refreshing. Every day, he would make his way down to the pool to do laps. Of course, this was just the third day and he had not actually got any laps in on the first day, as he did not realise there even was a swimming pool till the second day... So uh, yesterday was the first time. But still, since then, he had gone swimming every day - if you the fact that he was just about to swim today too!

Cannonballing himself straight into the lake, he was fully submerged into the water for a few moments before he kicked up and resurfaced again. Ahhh the cool water was very refreshing indeed. Plus, it was just a perfect excuse to flex those amazing biceps of his. Who wouldn't enjoy watching him swim? He would have loved it if there was a giant mirror there so he could just watch himself. Man, all of these people were so lucky. They got to see him. That was his greatest misfortunate - he could never see his own beauty in the same way that everyone else could. Even if he carried a mirror around all day or bullied some kid into doing it for him, he would never truly be able to see himself as others do. Man, they were so limiting!

Ever since she heard about the lake party, she wanted to join and not only that, she wanted to take part in everything that goes around in the camp, no matter what. Even if the blonde is not good at anything here, she wanted to try it before coming to a conclusion. Swimming is something she learnt for safety and to avoid unwanted accidents but if someone asks her if she likes swimming, it’s undecided and doubtful. Maybe it was her loneliness that confused her in everything she does and made her hate everything about her.

But she’s no more that girl... right? She thinks she has changed, she now started to love everything around her and now gained a little bit of courage to stand up for herself and her friends and is less shy than in the first year. Taking a deep breath, she walked towards the lake wearing her new swimsuit she bought just for this. The weather was nice and the music was pleasing, now all she had to do is jump. Her toes touched the water, “Should I?” pulling it away, “or should I not?” she murmured repeatedly several times.

New clothes are not bought to be wasted, one must know that and she bought her swimsuit just for this, then how could she not use it now? Finally, she took a few steps away from it, her eyes closed tightly and ran towards the pool to jump into the water. “Yessss” she chortled not caring about anyone around her as her whole body was wet by now. The blonde enjoyed the cool water in the hot summer, who wouldn’t? Tapping the water playfully, she grinned as she “It’s nice... I think I like this” she uttered to herself.

So far Opeila had enjoyed summer camp. Her cabin was alright, there had been a barbecue and... no fightclubs. This sort of activity was what she had expected last year as well- alright, minus the lake, as far as she remembered there was none at the London Stadium- but fun things. The Slytherin had missed out on some fun opportunities back then, which she dearly regretted a few days later.

That would not happen this time. Opeila was participating at everything- Except for Truth or Dare- and she was happy about it. When the Lake Party had been announced, Opeila had been very excited. The young girl loved water, her dad had insisted that she learned to swim the moment she knew how to walk, so naturally she felt just fine in water. Also when would they get another chance to swim in the lake? Sure she could pull a Jack Burnett, make a lunchbox grow and fill it with water, but this was just so different!

Proudly wearing her bathing suit, the young girl jumped into the lake the moment they got permission to. It had been a birthday present from her grandmother a few years ago, who then had to notice that Opeila did not fit into it at all. So it stayed in her wardrobe for years and now it finally fit her.

Taking a moment to get used to the temperature of the water, she turned her face upwards to let the sun shine on it. This reminded her of summer vacations she used to go on with her dad... Sure, Scotland was not Greece, but Opeila felt just as great. At least- until she winced at someone shouting. The next second she jumped aside when a boy fell down into the lake, not giving Opeila the chance to get used to the water temperature at all.

The young Slytherin squeaked when the water splashed all over her, and brushed her now wet hair out of her face. She should have tied it back... Well, too late. Opeila dove into the water and let herself sink to the ground, which was not far. She waited until she ran out of air before she came back up. Only a meter or two away, the canonball boy had come up as well.

He was no Hogwarts student, that much she could tell. Maybe Beauxbatons? A goodlooking one for sure- should she try and talk to him? Looking at him boosted her insecurities for some reason. What if he didn't want to talk to her? Surely there were loads of girls interested in him, maybe he would even be annoyed? Unsure what to say she smiled at him. "Nice one!" ...That was cool, right? Not weird? Opeila wished she had just kept quiet.

───Swimming had always been one of Winnie's favourite summertime activities. The farmland that her family had owned included a rather large lake that Winnie had spent countless hours of her childhood swimming in. It had been a disappointment when she was unable to spend most of her July in the water. It seemed her luck was about to change after she had heard rumours that campers would be able to swim during their stay. She had assumed that Hogwarts somehow had a hidden swimming pool in the campgrounds, magically enhanced perhaps.

She was not expecting it to be the Great Lake.

At first, the idea of swimming in the lake was terrifying. It was the place she had almost drown thanks to a grindylow, after all. But after learning about the precautions taken to prevent not only the students from crossing the barrier but was also capable of keeping other creatures out... She decided it could, perhaps, be worth a shot. Besides, there would be plenty of other students around and surely the professors wouldn’t let them get hurt. Right? … Right?

Winnie arrived at the lake wearing her favourite swimsuit, it was a pink one-piece with images of strawberries printed over the material. The bottom of the suit featured a short skirt and the neckline adorned with cute fabric ruffles. On her face, she wore a pair of rose-tinted heart-shaped sunglasses with a metallic gold frame. Her hip-length hair had been tied back into a long ponytail and flowed behind her as she walked towards the large platform.

Diving? She hadn’t given it a try yet! She was still rather nervous to submerge herself into the lake, so maybe going in full blast would be a good thing. She watched as a boy from another school jumped off the board and into the water. She couldn’t recall his name, but she remembered him from the campfire stories. He had told one about a prince who didn’t even learn his lesson in the end! Winnie supposed he was okay looking, but he was no Jack. A girl she knew was soon chatting to him. She had found Winnie’s journal during the height of her Jack obsession. Opeila was her name. Winnie considered speaking to her, but the remnants of embarrassment still clouded her confidence. By this time, a few other students had started to swim around, and Winnie wanted to get into the water before she had more of an audience.

She straightened her shoulders, mentally telling herself to be confident as she gripped the ladder and slowly climbed up it. As she stood on the board, she peered into the water below her and gulped. Maybe this wasn’t the best idea after all… What if they had missed a grindylow? She was considering turning back and tried to turn on the board but ended up losing her footing. She stumbled forward, arms flailing as she fell gracelessly into the water. If Arjan and Opeila were still below, they hopefully would not be taken down with her.

[font=times new roman]I[/font]t was hot. Scratch that, it was boiling. Scorching. Sizzling, if you may.

Scarlett was English. She was a fan of blisteringly cold weather, thick pelts of rain and grey skies. She liked to either curl up in a warm armchair and talk, or venture into the lashing wind and hail - depending on her mood. What she most certainly did not like, however, was hot weather. Hot weather was hot, and it made her sweat and she couldn't bear to be inside. Merlin, she couldn't even bear to be outside. Why was air-conditioning not a thing at Hogwarts? Did anyone bring a fan? Being the unprepared idiot she was, Scarlett - as a matter of fact - did not bring a fan, and so suffered in the aching heat alone.

When she heard there was a lake party, she practically jumped for joy. She did a little dance across her cabin using the last of her energy - the rest had been sucked up by the heat - before throwing on the swimsuit she had brought with her and racing outside. She could see the lake now and the sight of the refreshing water only spurred her on - Scarlett had never swam in the lake before. It was against the rules, and whilst Scarlett believed rules were meant to be broken, she wasn't the strongest swimmer and had elected not to break that particular rule. Scarlett could tread water and do a decent front crawl, but not for long.

Anyway, she reached the lake, and paused, seeing the massive diving board. Should she jump in from this pathetic height and have instant relief, or suffer a few metres of ladder climbing to enter the lake spectacularly? With Scarlett's dramatic tendencies, she chose the latter option, scaling the ladder like a monkey. When on top, she was met with the sight of a red-haired girl she did not know, in a pink swimsuit. Scarlett was about to call out and say hi, when the girl turned around, slipped and fell of the board. Scarlett gaped, a small "What in Merlin-" escaping her lips, before she came to her senses. Not wanting to end up like the red-haired girl, she scurried across the slippery diving board on her knees.

"Hello? You okay?" she yelled down, at the figures in the lake. She made out the red-haired girl, Opeila and some random older boy. "Wait, hang on, I'm coming down-"

Scrambling to her feet, Scarlett launched off the diving board in what was not a particularly elegant way, but not the flailing method that the red-haired girl had chosen either.

He came out of the water and shook his head a little to allow some of the water to splatter off and then did his signature move - flexing his arm as he ran his hand through his hand, slicking it back. Perhaps next time, he should do a few spins! Maybe he could try one of his backflips into the water. Arjan was busy pondering exactly how that would work when he heard a voice, "Oh, that was nothing," He responded with a smirk on his lips as he turned to see a cute girl talking to him and complimenting him. She had seen nothing yet! If she thought that was nice, he could do a cool backflip or one with three-sixty spins or something and that would be more impressive, right?!

Of course, the attention alone was enough to get to his head. He did love getting attention. No matter how many times he received it or how much people fed his ego, it never seemed to be enough. But since he was getting attention, he might as well make the most of it. "Want to see something even bett-" He started to brag.

But there was always a lesson to learn - and if anything, he should have learnt this by now. Bragging came at a cost. Arjan found himself submerged into the water in an instant, mid-sentence, as something whacked into him and pushed him down.

It was not harmful enough to make him bleed or anything drastic, of course. But the feeling of someone's elbow or arm whacking into his head or shoulder from a height distance was not exactly pleasant for him. He could not really tell what hit him but it felt like an elbow. Could have been someone's knee for all he knew. It just hurt.

And he found himself under the water within moments. Whoever it was, was dead. Did they just ruin his amazing cool moment?! He resurfaced, coughing a bit and turned to try and see who needed to receive a fist in his face. But as he saw her, it was a girl - and another girl was calling out to her. Geesh, this was a mess. He slicked back his hair, running his hand intentionally over his head to rub it slightly this time but it still looked like he was more concerned by his hair, like usual. "Well, I guess it does hurt when an angel falls from heaven," He responded to the whole situation - though was it really a response or literally his greeting? "Are you both alright?" He asked them both, as a true gentleman would. Because he was one of those, right?!

Outfit for the Party

The lake celebration had been one of the many things Elena had been looking forward maybe simply for the fact that it was summer and while the activites were certainly fun and straightfoward, they seemed to forget the fact that at this time of the year, the climate was cooking them alive and any chance to cool off would be a welcome one that would attract an army of kids, she was sure. Elena considered herself a decent swimmer, not the best but enough to wade around in the water without bobbing up and down like a drowning fish. Dressed in a jet black two-piece swimsuit, she'd made her way to the edge of the water testing it by dipping her hand in it before giving it a suspicous look. The brunette had hear rumors, stories even about the giant squid that haunted these parts though to date, she had never heard of it darting up to snatch some unsuspecting soul off the surface of the lake though Elena wasn't willing to put all of that to risk. So far, everyone seemed to be rather relaxed and nothing looked off and that was good enough for her.

The sun's glaring rays might have also convinced her to get a few splashes in while she still could. "Coming through." The Gryffindor would call out to anyone who might be in her line of fire before the girl stepped forward to the board doing a silent countdown in her head before she leapt forward diving into the body of water in a fairly straighfoward dive headed for the center of the allotted swimming area where her entrance to the watery enviormnet would be marked by the swarm of bubbles as Elena righted herself before swimming up to the surface, a few dangling brown locks of her hair now clinging to her face completely soaked upon entry but it had been worth. She had gone from instantly being slow-roasted by the sun to a massive cool-down and it was a welcome sensation that washed over her, it took some time to get accustomed to the tempeature of the water but once you did, it made you not want to get out.

As her head swiveled around, there were others doing all sorts of tricks while others opted for a more relaxed approach as they bided their time. Elena however was going to be doing some laps, it wasn't often you got to take a dip in the pool without probably being told off by some professor or having some house points docked. This was as good as a chance as any as she opted into the position for a breaststroke posture using her legs and hands as the driving force as the Gryffindor started swimming darting down the length of the lake that had been set aside from them to enjoy trying to veer and navigate between the other kids, she did not fancy butting heads with someone while treading through water, it was one of the reasons she preferred open areas but given the size of a school like Hogwarts, Elena knew the likelihood of that happening was second to none but she would take what she would get at this point.
