The note that Pan Jack Burnett had sent her had said they were to meet at the campgrounds, to complete the shovel errand together. The two of them. Together. Possibly alone unless Ruka knew about their plans. Winnie could hardly believe it when she received the note. After inhaling its unique scent, her shaking hands had carefully pinned it inside the new notebook she had dedicated to Jack. Her handsome satyr. Did he finally understand what the mere sight of him did to her? Perhaps he wanted to tell her he felt the same way... Maybe he was afraid to admit it. It was okay, though; she could wait for him to understand.

Any rumors she had heard from the other students about Jack being cruel or a 'devil child', they were all untrue. They were all undeserving of his time. They didn't understand the intricate mind that Jack posshosessed. Perhaps she didn't either, but she wanted to. She admired how intelligent and quick-witted the Slytherin was. It made her heart flutter. If only she could conquer her own faults, such as the way her mind seemed to turn to mush whenever he was near her. He likely thought she was a bumbling idiot, but she was capable of complex thoughts as well. Sometimes she felt like two separate beings; a childish girl who enjoyed running through fields of flowers and giggling about her crush, and an intelligent woman, waiting to blossom. If only the child part would get out of her way.

Regardless, all of her wanted to learn everything about him, even the bad. Then, she would tell him everything about her, even her darkest thoughts, like how her father abandoning her just a week prior had shattered a part of her. Would it matter to him? Likely not. They were meant to be together, after all. It was simply their destiny. They were linked. The stories of their love would be whispered by children playing in far-off lands.

Eliseo Céspedes was in charge of this errand, but Winnie had never really spoken to him before. He seemed a bit scary, but also handsome, so naturally, being a young girl who just discovered boys, she was too shy to do anything more than collect the needed supplies and squeak a 'hello' before heading out towards the campgrounds. Having grown up on a farm, Winnie was not a stranger to hard work, nor was she afraid of it. She also knew her way around a shovel. She picked one up before heading towards the campgrounds. She wore a pair of denim overalls, embroidered with flowers, the knees and lower legs were stained with mud and grass. On her feet, she wore her rain galoshes, light green with a floral print. Her long light copper hair was plaited, twisted, and pinned to the base of her head, a large straw sunhat with a light green ribbon shielded her eyes from the bright sun. She had also brought the leather satchel she used for school, which had been emptied of its contents so she could collect any beneficial items or plants. She was already crouched down on the ground and carefully digging up dandelion roots. She carefully set the uprooted plants inside of the satchel, before standing and using the back of her hand to wipe her brow. She would continue to work along the edge of the campground, making neat little piles of dirt where she felt plant life would be beneficial, although, to Winnie, most plant life was. It were up to her, the entirety of the grounds would be a huge garden, full of flowers and delicious vegetables.

Jack didn't know the first thing about landscaping. He prided himself on the knowledge of many things, but flowers and gardening wasn't all that applicable to him in his endeavors so he hadn't given it much thought. It was probably why he could have picked a different errand to meet with Winnie to talk to her during, but he figured digging a few holes couldn't be all that hard. It would give them something to do with their hands while they talked - or, more likely, while he struggled to figure out what to tell her.

If he was ignorant about landscaping, Jack was even worse when it came to the subject of romance, crushes, and love. He deliberately did his best to pretend such things did not exist and did whatever he could to avoid the subjects. When they came at him in the form of a girl sending him flowers, love notes, poems, and keys, however, there was only so far he could run or hide. Eventually, he decided, he had to put an end to the disaster that was Winnie Harper's apparent infatuation with him.

He was sure it was an infatuation rather than a real crush because he hardly knew the girl and she hardly knew him. Not that he pretended to know the first thing about what real crushes were like, but he was under the impression they began on the foundations of friendship and he and Winnie were hardly even real friends. Not that he wanted to be friends, of course. But making leaps toward him when steps weren't even permitted was a big problem for the Welsh boy. He would have to quash the girl's hopes and dreams that day and he wasn't looking forward to it.

With his head low, the Slytherin grabbed a shovel and said little as he made his way to the campgrounds where he had told Winnie he would meet up with her. Hopefully they would be mostly deserted just about then and the pair of them could have some private time together. He didn't fancy the idea of getting all those dirty looks if he ended up making Winnie cry. He heaved a deep sigh and trudged over to the copper-haired girl once he spotted her, unable to meet her eyes.

His clothes were a plain green work shit with tough denim jeans and worn boots he didn't mind getting dirty. At least if she threw dirt at him or shoved him in mud, it wouldn't be too much of a problem. Of course, Winnie herself was wearing pretty embroidered overalls that, even stained with mud and grass, seemed to reflect her cheerful mindset. Even her patterned galoshes, her hairstyle, and her ribboned hat seemed merry. Jack sighed again and rammed his shovel into the ground a couple of feet from her, his hazel eyes on the packed, damp earth.

"Uh...hi, Harper," he told her softly, not looking up as he spoke. It felt weird using her last name after having used her first name during the ball, but he had only done so because he hadn't known her last name at the time. Besides, using first names were too intimate, especially when he was trying to do something like let her down gently. "Having fun digging up plants...?"

The late spring breeze ruffled the Ravenclaw's loose strands of copper hair as she gingerly removed plants from the ground, ensuring that their woven roots were fully intact. Her inner thoughts gripped her, holding her prisoner, forcing her to answer a thousand questions. They would only shattered by the sudden shuffling sound the earth made when the Slytherin slammed his shovel down into it.

With the presence of Jack Burnett known, she would almost stumble as she attempted to stand up from her position on the lush green grass. Her face had been smudged with dirt from her gardening efforts. "B-Burnett!" She glanced down at her hands before ripped the gardening gloves off of them. She hurriedly tucked them into the pocket of her overalls. "Hi." She felt silent after her greeting, her face burning crimson. The sudden realization that this boy, the recipient of her poetry, had read her inner most thoughts. The poetry she had carefully crafted, had broken apart and weaved into her heart song.

If she had been so eager to tell him about her feelings, why did she feel so awkward? It wasn't supposed to feel this way, right? But her heart was a traitor-- pounding steadily against her chest as she gazed over the auburn hues of the boy's hair. The earthy tones of his eyes, swirled with amber hues. It was unfair how attractive he was, really. How was one supposed to think when he was in their presence?

The silence would abruptly end when she realized what the boy had just called her. "Don't call me Harper." She suddenly said, surprising even herself. She blinked, and shook her head. "S-Sorry, I just... I hate that name. Can you call me Winnie instead? I hope that's not too much to ask, I just..." Didn't want to be associated with her father, especially after receiving a letter a few days prior. He had left, like she always knew he would. She would change her surname if she could, she was stuck with it for now, unfortunately. She shook her head, the ribbon attached to her hat blowing through the air with the movement. "If you have a name preference, let me know. I'm assuming you don't actually go by Pan..." With this comment, she would offer him a sheepish smile.

"Oh, that's right!" She clasped her hands together, bouncing on the balls of her feet as her eyes drifted over the campgrounds. "I love gardening! This was a really fun idea, thank you for inviting me!" There was a nagging reminder in the back of her head that this was not the only reason Jack had asked her to meet up. Still, she ignored the glaring issue at hand and would instead ask the Slytherin an unrelated question. "Do you like gardening too? I grew up on a farm, so it was part of our daily life, almost. There were a lot of animals too.. A-And... We have apple trees."
