Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin
|
|
While staring at the envelope he had pulled out managed to distract him for a while, Aleksandar found that it did not do anything to sate his hunger. If he had known exactly how long that awful train ride was going to be he would have requested a meal to take along from his au-pair. What kind of school sent their students on an hours long trip without at least serving some lunch? How did these people live?
It was after a few minutes of staring at the pale blue ink on parchment paper, that Aleksandar could hear his potential saviour. The dulcet sound of a girl's voice offering meat and potato hand pies. He cast a glance through his half-open door, caught the eye of the saint he'd been blessed with. Her pretty face wore a smile, which he returned with one of his own, a small nod accompanying the silent greeting. It was all the motivation he needed to get off his bed, slip his boots back on and return to the living quarters, if one could call them that.
He was not the first one to follow the dark haired angel's call; another girl was already biting into one of the pies, using her hand to catch any fallen crumbs. Were there no House elves tending to these cabins? Aleksandar did not dwell on the thought, instead moved towards the girls with a smile on his face. "Ladies," he said as he took a shallow bow upon approaching them. "I apologise for the intrusion." For someone very observant the traces of a Bulgarian accent could be heard, though he had grown up with enough English au-pairs for it to be but a faint shadow. "I had not expected the trip to be this long or I would have brought some food myself. I cannot understand how Hogwarts students deal with such long hours on a train." How mundane, and cramped. Still, his tone remained pleasant, the smile never wavering. "Would you mind, if I...?" Gesturing towards the pies, Aleksandar would wait for some confirmation from his personal angel before helping himself to one and placing himself in the nearest free arm chair.
Straightening his back, Aleksandar mimicked the other girl's gesture of cupping his hand beneath the pie to catch any wayward crumbs, though before actually starting to eat, he calmly cleared his throat. "I'm Aleksandar Panchev," he told the dark haired girl, offering his right hand - the one he had not actually touched the pie with yet - in case she wanted to shake it before placing it beneath the food again. "From Durmstrang. I haven't yet had the pleasure of visiting Hogwarts, but I hear it is... peculiar." There was an amused lilt to the last word, a suppressed sound of glee that would only reflect in the brief widening of his pupils. "Are you a student here, or another guest?" he directed his question to both girls, anyone who was listening in fact, though his main focus would remain on his saviour, the beautiful angel with the enchanting smile. It was almost enough to make him forget about eating his pie.

Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin
Interacting with @Elena Jangleton & @Santario Martin | Briefly the rest; open to interactionsPhaedra wondered why they couldn't at least dedicate this day of camp to taking their belongings up to the castle. Leave it up to Hogwarts to work in the most inefficient ways possible. Grunting, the almost fifth-year pushed the last of her trunks containing her books next to the cabin provided desks, and brushed her hands clean when she was done. Well, that was that. What now?
Socialization. Yes. Of course. An ear twitched as she picked up the voice of, well—Santario, it sounded like—about pies or something. It was hard to tell through the walls, but it was at least indicative of the common area beginning to burst with activity. At least someone was trying to uplift the place after their grueling journey in the Hogwarts Express. Falling to her knees to peer beneath the bottom bunk, Phaedra called out for her companion to join her. “Cleo, baby?”
The feline was already ahead of her. While the witch was busy unpacking, the adult female mau, beautiful and littered with spots reminiscent of her owner's very freckles, had slipped out from the dark confines of the space and into the hall. She strolled past half-claimed rooms, pausing to peek inside and leave as if deemed too stale for her senses. In many ways they probably were.
Tail held high, the feline kept to the walls as she strut into the commons. Someone keen would notice the cat's emerald eyes dilating in presence of the unfamiliar faces, her curiosity palpable. But before Cleo could imbue the hearts of the strangers, she stiffened alert, twitching nose her only source of movement. Then, she hunkered down on her front paws and stalked in the coffee table's direction. Despite her efforts, the cat would only make it halfway to the pies.
Suddenly rounding the corner came Phaedra to catch the feline before the act, clicking her tongue to steal the animal's attention. Better nip that in the bud now. “Tsk tsk. Not for you.” What was for cats like her, however, were the treats that Phaedra had come equipped with. Digging into the clear packaging, a chewy bite-sized piece found itself pinched between the girl's fingers. She dropped her hand and Cleo stood on her hind legs to indulge. Smiling, Phaedra glanced up again.
“Hello.” It came short, but not rude; quiet the contrary in fact. The trio seemed invested in their own conversation and Phaedra wouldn't barge between it no matter how effective food was at bringing people together. And besides, as delectable as the pies looked, she'd fed herself earlier on the train and doubted they'd appreciate her digging in before she could locate a lavatory to wash the cat off her hands. “You brought food? That's kind of you. I'm afraid I've already eaten, but thank you nonetheless.” With that out of the way, Phaedra held the treats out for Cleo to follow her and made her way to sit across Elena on the empty couch.
“I've seen you around before. What book are you reading, if you don't mind?”

Cleo explores the cabin, begs for pie, rubs against a chair.
Phaedra lures Cleo into behaving with a treat, acknowledges the pie eaters, sits on couch in front of Elena to talk. Bunk is still open.[reducio] [/reducio]

Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin
It would seem her call out had gained the desired effect, people coming out of their rooms to eat the food. She had even managed to catch the eye of one of their guests, which meant that she might have helped to create a better impression for them. Sure the schools had their unavoidable rivalries, but that did not mean that it had to go to the specific individuals. Santario would give a small wave and offer a “Hello.” as Elena placed herself in a free chair with her book, not wanting to interrupt her time with her book, San left it at that.

Sarah, one of her duellists, was the first person to accept the offer, and Santario laughed softly at her statement. “Of course you may, and oh, you know I got fed up with Dmitri’s ego and turned him into a ton of meat pies…” Santario chuckled and shook her head while sitting down, placing her satchel in her lap. “In seriousness, however, it is just a spiced lamb and potato.” Elena would also come out and join them, followed shortly by the boy who only moments before had looked miserable.
Now, however, it seemed his demeanor had changed. “Please, yes, help yourself eat as many as you would like. There is no intrusion at all; I am pretty sure I am the one that bellowed for everyone to eat my left-over food. I usually get food sent with me, to be fair. I do not like a lot of the sweets that are on the trolly.” As was evident by the mass amount of meat pies on the table. “I do not know the exact timetable for events, but there is usually a huge welcoming bbq in the evening, which would also be held in the area where we will get most of our meals; while we’re here.” She was positive her grandparents would send another package along the way with treats at some point during the month, something she would share.
It would not escape Santario’s notice that the boy's attention remained on her as he introduced himself, but she assumed it was because she was the one who brought the food. She would reach forward and take his hand, her grip firm but respectable; her father had taught her how to shake a hand properly. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Aleksander, and you are not wrong. It is quite peculiar here. Random chaos usually springs up at events. I am Santario Martin, Slytherin.” Her French accent usually had people guessing that she was from beauxbaton, but no she was in Hogwarts. Santario would leave off the duellist information for now. “Did you come for either of the Quidditch or Duelling games, or are you just here as a supporter?” She wasn’t one of the captains of the team for no reason. She was already trying to sus out her competition.
“Hey, Phaedra.” She greeted the older Ravenclaw in return as she moved into the room. As she focused on the other girl with her book Santario would turn her attention back to Sarah and Aleksander.

Colette trudged through the grounds and made her way to the cabin the she would be supervising for the rest of the summer. She was slightly disgruntled at the fact that she had to spend the rest of the summer looking after children, but deep down she was relieved she and Calypso did not have to spend the rest of it alone in the manor. Her siblings had left to go on mentored trips, both hoping to continue honing their skills. Where had the time gone? It seemed like only yesterday she was sending them off to Beauxbatons and signing off as their guardians. But they were growing up, as siblings do.
Calypso herself was not too enthusiastic about their arrangement, having to take a vacation in the nearby wilderness while Colette stayed in the cabin with the students. If the Emerald Gazer had her way, she’d be curled up in a nice cozy room, enchanted to her preferences as she normally did when staying with Colette. The good thing was that it only took one comment of “You’re domesticated now.” From Colette to convince her to “rough it” for a few weeks. She would have all the room and all the food she would need, and Colette could focus on keeping students in line.
If they were anything like she was, she knew she would be quite busy.
Finally finding her temporarily designated home (Hogwarts liked to camp in style it seemed). She stepped through the door way. The cabin was cozy and warm-looking, further enforcing the “woodland cabin” vibe. Some students were already in the cabin, some looking vaguely familiar from Hogwarts, and others… well, just random kids.
Coming up to the steps she entered the place with a huff, her eyes scanning the room and saw that a few stragglers had already come in. The slight buzz of chatter hung in the air, the kids already making new acquaintances.
“Hello.” She called to the room’s occupants as she walked across it on her way to the bedrooms. “I see everyone’s not here yet, so you all just carry on.” Entering a room and intended for herself, she plopped her bags down, and from one of them, produced some writing implements and a KNOCK BEFORE YOU ENTER sign she’d “snagged” from a muggle yard sale years ago.
In bold red ink, she wrote the letter “C” on the parchment and went out to her door and enchanted it to stick. The other sign went around the door knob, and as a finishing touch, a wave of her wand locked the room.
Again, if they were anything like her, she would have to take extra precaution.
Tucking her wand into a pocket in her coat, went back to the large room where most of the students were. “Well,” She started as she swept back some hair that had gotten into her face. “Now then, did everyone get here alright?” She said to everyone.

Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin
@Santario Martin
"Thank you," came his startled reply.
The boy turned his head towards Santario. He listened to what she had to say, following up with an affirmative nod.
"I'm Isaac," he added with a wry grin. "... I'll be sure to remember that."
When she left, the boy placed his things down in the middle of the room and crept towards the door. Leaning up against the wooden frame, he peeked out of it nervously to see where she would go.
Dueling Captain, huh? Yes. He did have his questions. Perhaps he'd seek her out later.
@Everyone else
A small congregation began in front of the fireplace. He waited to see, only for the group to get larger... And larger.
This was where his tolerance ended, not to say that he was intolerant, but simply the discomfort he felt around big groups of people. Isaac gave parties and large assemblies a wide berth; he was the kind of individual that favored a one-on-one interaction.
Knowing himself all too well, the boy retreated into his room before someone else dragged him out to socialize. He strode over to his belongings, shifted them over to his bedside and began to unpack. Toiletries, clothes, everything he needed for his month long stay.
Whilst the others got to know each other, Isaac tidied his room. Not only for himself, but also for his to-be roommate for the next thirty days of their lives. Hopefully it would be someone nice.

Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin

Bunk mate: no one yetSo... back to cabins again. Huh. And they would be assigned to them by the staff, so that would be interesting. Honestly, for all his seeming inability to interact with people normally without dissolving into a rambling mess, he tought he might prefer this to everyone being able to choose their own cabin. Sure, he could understand why people would want to stick with their friends and all, but really, this way you could (=were forced to) meet new people! And it seemed they weren't limited to schools either! Definitely a plus to having to be here.
Not that it was bad to be here per se but he hadn't really been all that keen to attend summer camp. He spent like 10 out of 12 months a year at the school already and as much as he liked it, the occasional change of scenery was nice and especially if they went on vacation. But Amy had wanted to attend and their parents had decided that meant that they would both go. He wasn't quite sure if it was because they wanted that he keep an eye on her (even if anyone were to have an eye on anyone it would probably her keeping an eye on him, to his chagrin. He was the one that (used to) get distracted and wandered off, not her. But she was his baby sister, so.) since she was only twelve or if they just wanted both kids out of the house. Not because they didn't love them or anything, but what was the point of only sending one kid to summer camp, right? Eh, who knew. It wasn't like the why mattered. In all honesty, he didn't particularly care. Fact was, he was here because of his sister. Who had immediately ditched him and ran of with her friends, so the keeping-an-eye was pretty much a moot point, anyway.
Oh shoot, he hadn't paid attention. What was his cabin again?
Ah. Phoenix. Okay, now to figure out which one that- Oh. Well that was easy. Glen mentally face palmed. He had seen the flags as soon as they arrived. But of course he'd been too fascinated by their interactions – the flag's animals seemed to react to one another or was that just his imagination? – to spare a thought as to why they were there in the first place. He wondered how much the flags differed from magical portraits. How much intelligence or sentience did those animals have? They were silent, unlike a lot of the portraits at the school proper, but … Oh, well, he had a whole month to ponder that question. Cabin first.
With a slight grumble he made his way over, lugging his trunk along. What he wouldn't give for a feather-light charm right now. Maybe he should've packed a bit less? Ah well, too late now. At least he hadn't tried to pack a huge Collie instead of his stuff, like their neighbour's kid apparently had tried for their summer vacation, if the yelling down the street was anything to go by. (The boy was unsuccessful and the dog had spent the week at his grand-parents instead, as planned.)
Entering the cabin, he stopped a moment to take a look both to take in the cabin and to gauge the assembled students. Hm. Several somewhat familiar faces, but no one he really knew. Cool. This would force him to branch out then. Maybe he could make some actual new friends?
Offering the group a wave, he promptly dropped his trunk just barely missing his own foot. Phew. With his luck, he wouldn't have been surprised if he had accidentally dropped it on his foot. “Hey everyone!”, he greeted the room awkwardly before picking his trunk back up with the intention to go look for a room.Reducio

Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin
If Illowy was being perfectly honest... she didn't want to be here right now. She'd rather be home, locked away in her room the way she'd kept herself for the last week, doing whatever she could to try to keep herself busy. However, her mother had had just about enough of her sulking and intended to make sure Illowy kept her commitment to go to camp as planned. It had been a mostly one sided fight of her mother lecturing her until the girl finally packed her and Killian's things and got her butt on the train. Illowy hadn't felt like arguing, especially not with her mother because either way her mother would win. Just as well, Illowy was fairly certain that had been their longest "conversation" in almost three years. Might as well have savored it while it lasted.Mentioning : @Isaac Lee Shu Hui, @Xailah Alptraum, @Elena Jangleton , @Phaedra Stavrou, @Santario Martin

After everyone was arrived and signed in, Illowy followed in the group as they were escorted to the cabin and lead inside. On her heels, her beloved ball of floof, Killian, trailed, taking care to keep close to his mistress despite all the excitement. It was easy to tell who the first years and muggle-borns were; namely one lad who seemed stunned when they got to the door for a moment or two, before finally getting his wit back and moving out of the way. Illowy said nothing so him, simply slipping around him. So easily impressed by how unassuming the cabin looked from the outside, while the inside opened up beautifully to reveal more then enough space for the large group. At least there were some people Illowy knew that were in her cabin; though she was closer to some more then others. Part of her wished she had more people she considered friends in the same cabin like last year... but beggars can't be choosers. At least there were those like Xailah there.
Everything was so warm and cozy inside, and perhaps if it hadn't been for her mood, she might've seemed more excited about all of the prospects waiting them at camp, and the rustic beauty of the cabin. Instead, she just readjusted her bag on her shoulder and quietly started for the stairs to find herself a bed. True to her usual form, she picked a room closest to the common area, wasting no time to drop her bag on the bottom bunk to claim it. She didn't care to do too much unpacking at this moment, but for now, the girl tossed out a small pillow Killian usually liked sleeping on so he'd have it out already, and that was about it. Fully unpacking could wait until she needed an excuse to be away from so many people again.
Leaving the door to the room open, Illowy started back downstairs, Killian at her heels, as San announced that she had extra meat and potatoes pies if anyone wanted one. A sweet offer, though Illowy didn't say anything about it. The snake simply planted herself on a couch cushion closest to the fire place, scooping up her cat into her arms, and sitting back. If she was going to be here, she might as well be present.
At least there was a small show. Spying the twitch of a long, slender tail, it seemed someone's kitty had gotten ahead of her owner. The creature was poised to steal of the pie before the feline's attention was whisked away by her owner's offer of a much more valuable treat; an older girl Illowy didn't know. The pair then sat on the couches as well, and Killian couldn't help but stare in curiosity as the other lovely creature's owner tried to chat up another girl sitting in an armchair. Thankfully, Killian was typically a very docile cat, preferring to keep his mistress in his line of vision as opposed to wandering off and getting himself into too much trouble.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin

INTERACTIONS:@Phaedra Stavrou & @Santario Martin|Bunk Mate: Open
A few greetings came her first from the rather polite girl who had been offering those lovely looking pies and the brunette piped up with her own "Hi" offering the other a smile as her back sank into the comfortable texture of the armchair which supported her weight quite nicely. Elena could get used to this, it was certainly a step or so above the worn down furniture that had adorned the walls of the Gryffindor common room, that place was seriously in need of a renovation if you asked her. If the professors could conjure something like this on the drop of a hat, she failed to see why it couldn't be done to beautify the common areas a bit though she wasn't one to make such a huge deal out of it. Sometimes, old things were better as the girl turned a page her eyes just skimming the rim of the book as people came and went noting faces and catching snippets of converstation here and there. It wasn't long however before her own little guise of reading a book would soon become undone.
Courtesy of another girl and her cat who made a beeline to settle across from Elena offering her a customary introduction as Elena put her book down mentally memorizing the page number before closing it grinning a bit. "Have you? Seems like everyone's keeping tabs on me these days." The brunette joked. She couldn't put the other girl's face to a name, they had probably run across each other briefly if at all still it felt nice to have a friendly face among all these new people. She nodded towards her novel pushing it forward a bit if the other girl wanted to invest herself in the pages shrugging her shoulders a bit. "Nothing special really, it's just random facts and stuff about places and items in the wizarding world." The sort of stuff that was the perfect recipe for boredom but for her, Elena was always geniunely interested by these sort of things. There was the little snippet she had stumbled upon that said chocolate frogs were made out of seventy percent croakoa and there was a white chocolate option as well, something that had piqued her interest.
Her eyes flicked back and forth between the various cat owners present here and decided that it was probably a good idea to leave Flutters safe and sound in the room where he belonged. Bird of prey he might be but from her experience, cats and owls did not tend to have a very friendly relationship and that was an outcome she wished to avoid at all costs. Speaking of such felines, her head bobbed towards the girl's own cat. "Name? Defintely a beautiful creature." One of her hands would dangle carelessy over the armrest of her chair, her palm open as an inviation for the feline to take a whiff of if the animal so desired. It was soon after this regardless out of the outcome that their chaperone for this cabin made herselves known none other than the librarian herself. Elena reckoned she was doing more than alright with her book, a person to talk to and all sort of pets alike and on top of it, this time, the Hogwarts Express had managed to stay on the rails so these were all positives in her books. "Splendid." She replied content with everything that was happening.

Phoenix Cabin, a site symbolic of fiery rebirth. How fitting. There was something to be said of irony. With an air of smug confidence he strode into the cabin. The rustic interior was quaint, so this was where he was going to be spending the next few weeks.
He would eye a few familiar faces among the residents of their shared domicile. @Santario Martin a stand out, his opinion deferred for the time being. @Piérre Marchonné did not have the same benefit yet his practiced expression did not betray his silent resentment. He would not address those already there beyond a quiet nod and eye contact.
He would meander into the bedroom, his preference someone he did not know. Someone younger, adaptable. @Isaac Lee Shu Hui would do just fine, not that they were yet acquainted but it mattered not. He would take the bed that was not taken, claiming his by placing his suitcase on top of the already made bed.
There was a recent interest in his wares. He frowned as he removed his toiletries from a sealed bag with several opaque bottles which were clearly labeled and dug through the trunk and and laid out what he had brought with him -- a pair of towels, several long sleeved shirts and pants made of a thin material, lounge pants, a heavier jacket made of a leather that reached his knees, a few pieces of miscellaneous jewelry (a pocket watch, a necklace, a bracelet and a ring with a silver stone) all of which he put on his person. His wand was in his pocket, there were bandages, a miscellany of empty potion bottles, empty satchels, several more filled with a syrup-like golden fluid, a pocket knife, candles, wizard tight, a space blanket, several sealed containers with jerky, water, nuts, and dried fruit. Socks, undergarments for those that have an unsavory need to know, a comb, a couple of books (all classics of the non-wizarding variety), an couple of inkwells, a large sum of parchment, a couple of quills and a nearly full container of rock salt.
With a near obsessive neatness he would place his belongings in their proper place.

Welcome to the Phoenix Cabin
@Vladimir Athanatos
The sound of footsteps from behind prompted Isaac to turn his head to catch the large shadow of Vladimir passing over him. His lips parted, a greeting on the tip of his tongue right as the aura of unfriendliness hit him like a brick wall. The older boy strode in, and immediately began to organise his things with little regard for his fellow human.
“Hi,” came his undignified, prepubescent whimper, accompanied by the touch of a smile. “I’m Isaac.”
In terms of physicality alone, the two weren’t that far off. Isaac was a broad-shouldered, muscular thing, and his height made him tower over most others his age. Vladimir was simply older, his body more developed as was the maturity in his expression. They could’ve passed as classmates were it not for the squeakiness of the former’s voice that made him sound like a teenage girl.
There was also a baritone seriousness that radiated from the Ravenclaw, as if something bothered him. Isaac didn’t think too much about what it could’ve been. Instead, he stood up from where he was crouched and crossed the room to the wooden door. With a soft thump, he closed it to give them some privacy. He turned, and his eyes fell onto the back of Vladimir’s head, and then to the objects he produced from his bag. The glass vials and golden liquid caught his attention, and if Vladimir looked at him then, he might have caught him staring at them with fascination.
“Are you excited for Summer Camp?” he would query after a while.
