Having grown up in a travelling circus, Cielle was no stranger to foreign cities. She could remember the excitement that would build in the pit of her stomach just before she arrived at a new area, the eagerness to explore and poke around as soon as she stepped foot out of the caravan. The circus children were always wanted on the first day, as there was a whole heap of setting up to do, but on the second day, they were free to wander around the city.

Cielle wasn't entirely sure if the same rules applied now, when she was here on a school trip with Durmstrang, but she had never been one to follow the rules. Regardless of whether or not she was allowed to do so, she had run off to Muggle London, determined to explore and get used to her surroundings, dragging her best friend Nadya off with her.

She and Nadya had become friends the instant they met, despite the fact that they were nothing alike. Nadya was calm and docile, the very picture of a lady, while Cielle was the complete opposite - explosive, loud and reckless, a horrible student and even worse with magic. She envied her friend sometimes. Other times, she wished she were a little more exciting and willing to break the rules to have fun. Like now.

[SPEAKING IN RUSSIAN] "Holy shit, Nadi, just relax," Cielle grumbled, pulling her friend through the streets. She practically had to drag Nadya out of the tent. Gosh, if only this was one of her circus friends... they'd be pulling her through the streets. "They never said we couldn't explore London. We're gonna be fine." Just as she finished the sentence, a car nearly ran right into them. Cielle swore loudly in Norwegian before speaking in Russian again. She was fluent in both languages, as well as Danish, Swedish and English - the outcome of being in a travelling circus, and something she found rather handy in a school with such a diverse cast of students. "Don't say 'I told you so'," she grumbled. She could practically feel Nadya grinning, even though her friend didn't really grin.

It was nice to be in a Muggle setting again. Cielle would have looked like an ordinary girl, with the graphic tee and the worn Vans, had it not been for the wand she was fiddling with. She was terrible at magic, unlike Nadya, and preferred to handle things with a punch or two, but she hung onto her wand anyways for reasons she didn't even know herself.

[SPEAKING IN RUSSIAN] "Ooh, look, a restaurant!" Cielle pointed out energetically as they passed. She squinted at the writing, slowing to a stop. Just because she could speak English, it didn't mean that she was very good at reading or writing it. "Day - day-zee ber-gers. Daisy Burgers. Huh, what a funny name. Why would you name a burger place after a flower?" Cielle wrinkled her nose and checked the plastic watch on her hand. "Should be about lunchtime now. Shall we?" Without waiting for an answer, she dragged her best friend into the restuarant, for a moment forgetting the fact that she had left her wallet back in the tent.

Roleplaying as Nadya Andrulevičus
Nadya's father was conservative, cold and cruel. He kept a strict agenda his children must follow daily, and disproved of Nadya leaving the house, claiming that it would be bad of her to walk among the 'common folk'. He, and his children, must distance themselves from others, lest their pure blood be dirtied. Nadya had rarely felt the sun, and her pale skin showed it. But even her father could not stop Nadya from joining the school trip to the United Kingdom, and so Nadya found herself in the bustling streets of London, apprehensive and uneasy, but also slightly curious.

Cielle, however, seemed to be in her element. Clutching Nadya's hand tightly, the Norwegian girl dragged Nadya out onto the streets. But perhaps that was to be expected - while Nadya preferred quiet nights in, warmed by blazing fires and surrounded by close friends, Cielle seemed to thrive in new experiences, was regularly sarcastic, and didn't seem to fear strangers. As a car swung past them, missing the girls by half an inch, Nadya shook her head, as if she were a parent, but allowed herself to grin. "Well... I did tell you so. How about we walk a little slower?"

But it was too late, Cielle had already moved on. Nadya had learnt that about Cielle rather quickly - you couldn't be slow around her. She would just leave you behind. Nadya lacked the courage to do such things, and admired Cielle's quickness and sureness, which Cielle held at all times.

Nadya halted as Cielle slowly decoded a restaurant's message. Her English was even worse than her friends - Nadya's father had placed a higher importance on the languages of old Russia than of English, but still learnt English because of its apparent advantage in communication. Nevertheless, Nadya was very glad Cielle was able to read the sign. Nadya didn't bother to speak this time, knowing that the words would fly into Cielle's ear and out the next, but waited until they approached the door of the restaurant to turn and agree with her - she was hungry, and it was nearly lunchtime.

"Yes, lets," Nadya said. "I've never had an English burger before." She eagerly followed Cielle to the door. It was one of those places that looked as if it were old, but actually wasn't. What was the word? Oh yes, rustic. While the idea of making a perfectly new building appear old was lost to Nadya, she had to admit the rustic look had a nice effect, with peeling dark red paint, potted plants, and posters from a couple of years ago. As the two girls entered the restaurant (at lunchtime it was quite busy, but not busy enough to be crowded or stuffy), the noise of many English conversations mixed and joined to create a jarring symphony of sound. Nadya felt a sudden shock of panic run through her; she was not used to foreign countries. Nadya turned to Cielle, seeking comfort in the girl she looked up to, and shuffled closer to her (as close as she could get without touching). Then, she took a deep breath, to calm her nerves, and spoke in the calmest voice she could conquer.

"I can see a table - over there," she told Cielle. "By the window. Let's sit down, and the we can have a look at the menu?"
