Blossom Ball - Trial of Hermes
Lily speaking in English
Lily speaking in Welsh
Others speakingFinally, she was here. The trial of Hermes. Lily didn’t know what it would be, but she did know that it couldn’t have been any worse than some of the other trials. They really triggered her vertigo.
When she got there, it was an obstacle course. At least it’s not magic. she thought. Soon enough, she got going. It wasn’t far until he got to the first obstacle.
Suddenly, trees rose from the ground. They were blocking the path, and her only option was to climb them. Though Lily had climbed only a few trees in her life, she seemed confident. With the first tree, there was a branch which was just low enough for her to climb.
Slowly and carefully, Lily climbed up to the top of the first tree, and edged along to the next one. She knew that if she got down here, she would be trapped and unable to get out again. As the branched thinned, she transferred to the next tree.
The next one was harder though: there was no clear passage to the final tree. She would have to jump. Lily swallowed hard, and got to the safest point. “3.. 2.. 1.. GO” She told herself, and jumped. Soon enough, she landed safely in the next tree. At least I survived.Banner by Lucia Fox

The last trial, Orpheus, had not been what she was expecting to happen during these trials. While originally she was apathetic about it, while still doing what she considered was her best, now she was resolute in completing them successfully. She normally didn't think about her blood purist grandfather, and that was certainly the kick in the butt she needed to continue the remaining trials the best she could.
However, after the first three trials, she was not expecting to run around protecting a pomagrantite from impending danger. She also wasn't the most athletic of people, always coming up with various excuses as to why she couldn't participate in gym class during her muggle schooling. Now was certainly the time to regret that.
However, she did feel more fortunate than other competitors. Her dress was short, knee length, so she wouldn't have to deal with dragging it or holding it while she ran. She had also opted for flats, mainly because of how cute they were, but also because of their comfort. The relation between the shoes and this particular challenge also caused Starlee to giggle. If only her shoes could fly as well!
She placed herself readily at the starting line, and when it was time, she dashed.

Blossom Ball - Trial of Hermes
Entering thread from the Apollo
Approaching her third trial, Serena could not help but contemplate how they were going. It was rather interesting to see both of the trials and how different they had been so far. She was, by no means, complete or even almost complete. However, the trials she had taken part in had been so different that it surprised her. She was definitely intrigued to continue. She was so ready to do the Trial of Hermes now! Serena looked around as she attempted to understand what the trial actually was. A boy gave out some instructions about collecting a pomegranate from the other side of the festival - the Underworld.
In all honesty, she disliked the setting of the Underworld. The vibes it gave off were creepy and dark and she was not super comfortable with that. However, it actually seemed like everything was going far better than she had initially thought. The dark was something that she was afraid of, for a very specific reason. It was not any dark though. As time went on, Serena realised it was the shadows themselves and the dangers that lurked within the dark. It was the fear of what could happen. Been there, done that, never wanted to do it again.
However, this was event seemed to be a lot safer than she anticipated - and nothing brought her more joy than that. Serena eyed up the trial. Right, all she had to do was run across the bridge and get the pomegranate, right? She could do that, right? It was not like she had to fight shadows and put out fires. This task was a lot more simple, surely?!
At least, that was what she kept telling herself. Taking her hairband off her wrist, she tied up her hair into a high ponytail. She had no idea what was going to happen on the trial, it did sound like there was going to be some sort of obstacles - perhaps an obstacle course! Deciding that the best course of action was just to be prepared, she figured that pushing her hair off her face was a good start at the very least.
Serena exhaled, preparing herself. As soon as she was allowed to start, she attempted to go get the pomegranate! She could do this! Maybe...

For the second trial that Everly was to complete, she decided to try for the Hermes trial. She recalled that Hermes was the messenger god, and she knew about those infamous winged sandals. The trial turned out to be a race - well, that was absolutely perfect for Everly, considering the outfit she'd worn. Hopefully, those, that wouldn't slow her down too much. The moderator, a boy, gave them their instructions - they were to run from the exit back towards the area called the Underworld, and try to reach the pomegranate. There were all sorts of obstacles and traps set up for each person. Everly found this both eerie and exciting; she'd never done anything like this before.
Everly wasn't the most physically inclined person out there. In fact, she was quite confident that she wasn't physically strong whatsoever. Perhaps being tiny and agile was beneficial in other ways, but still, if she were to participate in, say, something that involved strength and muscle-y stuff, Everly would probably lose. Being the optimist she was, however, she tried her best to stay positive even when told that this trial would be, quote 'a race', which Everly knew one needed to be fit to win. Still, it was not just a race, but one with many tricks and traps, and Everly hoped that she, even if not fast by foot, could be able to evade them and finish first. And so, with these thoughts swirling in her mind, she went to start the trial.

trials
A race. Okay. Lucia was not one for running, not at all, but she'd do it if Carolyn did. The likelihood that she'd just slow to a walk halfway along and come last was quite large - of course - but she wasn't here to win anyway, not really. She was here because the last ball had been boring, and she wanted this one to be one she'd remember - and the best way to do that was to participate in everything she could. Even if that meant participating in a race.
As soon as she set off, Lucia regretted wearing sandals - but how could she have known she'd be participating in a set of trials when she dressed for this event? Her shoulder bag bounced against her side as she ran, nearly tripping over a log which erupted out of the ground into her path. Oh no. Not only would Lucia come last, but she would also completely embarrass herself by falling flat on her face before she even got halfway down the track. Lucia could tell that this was not an ordinary race. She just hoped she was up for it. That, or she could just give up now.

Blossom Ball - Trial of Hermes
Content warning: Strong language.
After that dark, dark ordeal in the Trial of Hades, Ami would find herself stumbling towards the Trial of Hermes, still slightly out of sorts from that sapping of her sight. Who was the idiot that went and organized these trials? She would have to have a strong word with them about the quite un-fun nature of that particular trial. Who on earth thought that a dark maze was fun and a trial? What Ami felt like doing after that un-amazing quiz in that quizzical maze was just quitting the trials altogether to go dance her troubles away.
Alas, the tiny boy explaining the goal of the Trial of Hermes would convince her to stay. "A race?" she said, brightening up considerably. Ami was nothing if not athletic. At 15, she was already a ceiling-brushing 5'10" and appeared to be 95% leg. That, coupled with the fact that she had practically lived on the Quidditch pitch all year, meant that Ami looked like a weird, buff, leg-ful skeleton. After stretching out her legs and hips, Ami would leer at any poor unfortunate students who were near her. "YOU FUCKERS ARE GOING DOOOWN," she hollered, setting her sights on the metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel- you know, the literal fruit at the end of the race.
Like the god the trial was named after, Ami firmly believed that when she ran, the wings on her feet would aid her to speed past every other chump here to participate in the trials. With a sharp inhale, the fourth year would take off sprinting, her feet hitting the ground with surefooted thumps with each step she took, her arm pumping rapidly in an effort to aid her speed. Run, Forrest, run!

Blossom Ball - Trial of Hermes
Entering from Trial of Orpheus
Here, at long last, was a Hero Trial that Dolf might actually enjoy. Upon arriving in the world of Spring, laid out in all sorts of bright colors across Hogwarts' grounds, he'd made for the Trial of Apollo in an effort to be less of a buzzkill. He knew that Apollo was the god of many things, and he'd been looking forward to testing his skills at archery or Healing. Hell, it could've been as extreme as a chariot race around the lake. The Trial of Orpheus had shown him that Hogwarts went big for its party tricks.
Unfortunately, Apollo's trial was based on his most stupid realms of influence: poetry, music, and the arts. The boy in charge was making students dance around for him and say all kinds of stupid things in front of everybody. Dolf had gotten just close enough to hear the instructions and immediately turned around. He wanted to have fun, that was true. But he didn't want to completely toss out his dignity. That was not his idea of fun.
Not to mention that his hands were still shaking from the Trial of Orpheus. He'd been trying to ignore them, but he knew they were doing it, and he knew that everybody else at the ball could see. He needed something to build his confidence back up — something that he could do well at. Something with his wand or something athletic.
Something like the Trial of Hermes.
Dolf approached warily, learning from his mistake at the Trial of Apollo and waiting to hear the directions before he got his hopes up. But his ears caught the words race, traps, and trickeries, and he was hooked. He'd take physical obstacles over psychological challenges any day. Bring it on, Trial of Hermes. Bring it on.
As he got on the starting line, Dolf tugged his laurel crown lower on his forehead. Now more than ever he was glad to be wearing normal clothes. He'd hate to run in one of those togas. The boy bent his knees and waited eagerly for the command to start.
Once he heard it, he took off like his shoes had grown wings.

Wearing a deep plum chiton and cloak and grape headpiece inspired by Dionysus.
[1] [2] [3] [Hades] [Hecate] [Orpheus] [Hermes] [Persephone] [Apollo]Ah, physical activity. Her one weakness. Where Phaedra’s mental abilities had triumphed, the same could not be said for her endurance and strength. She possessed a punch that rivaled that of a rubber duck, and even that was awfully generous. Typical Ravenclaw, really, and she didn’t even like Quidditch either, so flying was out of the question if there were brooms provided. Phaedra was…decently evasive on her feet though. Perhaps it would be enough to get her through this.
It wasn’t until standing before the bridge herself that Phaedra realised just how improperly dressed she was for this trial. With a chiton that just barely scraped the ground and a cloak billowing behind her dramatically, her chances of winning this one seemed grim. An obstacle course could home all sorts of nooks and crannys, climbs, jumps, and falls. The last thing she needed was getting caught on something and unable to help herself, so her hands went to tug at the fabric around her neck and shoulders. There would be no choking today.
“Do you mind watching over my cloak? Thank you.” It wasn’t like she’d given him any choice, unbuttoning the thing and tossing it aside immediately after. Her short heels would have to stay and thank Merlin they were comfortably snug. One had to take their blessings where they could. Clearing her throat, she took position. Time to get that pomegranate.Action: Attempt race.

Blossom Ball - Trial of Hermes
IMPORTANT: I have recently changed my character’s name but the IC change is in effect from July so at this time I’m still using the old name, which was Carolyn Hunt.
“This doesn’t look very safe,” Carolyn gulped nervously upon seeing the wonky bridge. Still she promised herself and Lucia, she would try all the challenges and she meant it. She wanted to do something new for a change. “No matter…we are here so we might as well do it,” she said with a slightly more confidence this time, not wanting to discourage her friend. The young Ravenclaw was not a coward per se even though she generally avoided any dangers. It was not necessarily that she feared the injury itself, more like what getting injured meant for her hobby. She was a ballerina and as such liked to take care of her body. Both of her parents also made sure she avoided getting hurt given the fact that both specialized in healing. This was a unique oportunity however and Carolyn wanted to challenge herself. “I’d better take of my shoes for this!” The girl evaluated quickly. Her heels were small but still dangerous for running and her feet were hardened from the pointe shoes so running barefoot didn’t sound like the worst idea.
Carolyn might not have been the fastest runner but as a ballerina she was agile, flexible and man could she jump. “Remember, we are dancers. We can do this!” She encouraged the Hufflepuff one last time before setting to the task herself. Safety first, she reminded herself once again as she set off. The Ravenclaw would try to be as fast as possible but avoiding any risky obstacles would remain her top priority.

Trial of Hermes Moderation
The end had come! Through grace, clumsiness, and a slew of pomegranates in the arms of the host, it was time to close the trial and declare the King and Queen of the ball. Surely folks had been eager to have their performances evaluated, and they would wait no longer: it was time to find out if they were worthy of Hermes’ challenge. If they were a hero, or just a foolish child running up and down a path for a fruit they’ll never get to eat. ┍━━━━━━━✿━━━━━━━┑
