pre-hogwarts storyNoah is struggling with his feelings of wanting to branch out and make some friends and he's beginning to grow bitter about it. The attack of the mosps at the ball was his first event where things went wrong, he had decided to go there to try and be outgoing for a change, now he knew it was the wrong thing to do. Everything has resulted in Noah now being very irritable and easily angered.
Although this in no way makes Noah a person to not mess with. At his core, he's still the weak kid trying to look cool. Before he tried to show off how cool and collected he was and try to look like the ideal student but sometimes it was easy to see through it. Noah isn't that good with his tongue, although he thinks he is which mostly ends up in him thinking like he's some strong lion roaring at everyone while he really just looks like a puppy to everyone else.
But none of that matters much as Noah still very much avoids people. Especially after his proof at being outgoing being bad. He refuses to accept it still, that he wants friends and would love to do things and have fun. He says to himself that he doesn't care about anything but studying but it's really just a lie, he refuses to accept how he feels and it just makes him more moody and grumpy.
Unfortunately for him, he does have a tendency to be natural invisible. Maybe it's his deadpanned bored face or his internal hate channelling in the air but people don't usually approach him. He's not necessarily bad to talk to, he loves talking, he usually ends up talking too much if he starts on a topic but as long as no one else starts talking to him, he'll stay silent.
If someone does try to approach him, he'll try his best to act like he doesn't want to talk but he can't help it, to his disgust, he feels really nice whenever someone interacts with him and he treasures any little thing anyone does for him as it's so rare for him for people to be nice to him.
Noah grew up in a household that was rather strict. He mostly spent his time in his room reading a book observing things. His parents didn't want him to be "corrupted" by other people so he was kept rather sheltered and most of his interactions were when guests came over to his house.
Noah was always a well-mannered boy. Though he didn't interact with people as much, he was taught to behave properly around them in a formal manner. But Noah didn't have many friends, the only people that came close were his cousins who were much older than him and didn't interact with him much. He did have a cousin named Jennifer who was seven years older than him and she was the only cousin he used to like talking to him and so Noah liked her too. The few times she visited were the few times he got to spend time with a person as a friend rather than as a stranger he was supposed to respect.
Having grown up the way he did, he didn't have much of a childhood. Some might say his parents didn't love him but really, they just wanted to see him become a successful person and didn't consider having fun as a major part, thinking it had only hindered them at their academic achievements and that he had time for that once he grew up more but needed to stay level headed as a kid.
Noah, oblivious to how life was to other people never argued or retorted to his parents, he knew his parents knew best and left it at that, following everything his parents told him to do. He was always trying to be an ideal son to his parents.
But he was also very excited for Hogwarts, he had heard his parents talk about Hogwarts and he couldn't wait to see it. And he was slightly excited to see other people his age as well, though not all that much since he wasn't sure if he could make any friends there. Not that he particularly needed friends either, he believed all of that to be simple fiction, friendship, bonds, love, stuff that comes from stories and fantasies. He was yet to see people who don't know each other by family creating bonds and being happy with each other.

story at hogwarts
Reducio
I've put time references in bold so you can easily navigate and find out events that way, although i won't be repeating anything to explain newer events unless it's absolutely needed
Alrigh. Sit down, as i tell you the tale of a boy growing into a slightly bigger boy. Before his journey to Hogwarts, Noah was really excited about Hogwarts, fortunately for him, it actually paid off as he arrived at Hogwarts. Everything met his expectations, from the glory of the castle to him not getting any friends!
Noah definitely was ecstastic and having the time of his life at Hogwarts. There really wasn't a time where walking through the corridors didn't make him feel relaxed, seeing the sunlight bounce through the castle walls through the windows or hearing the rain as he walked through the dimmed corridors were a joy. Noah especially had a thing for rain and nothing made him feel as happy as the rain. It was also why the slytherin common room kind of fit him well.
Yes, the Slytherin common room. He wasn't so sure about the house at first but he had grown to love it. He didn't know why but the way Slytherins were seen and the common room and the people just made him feel like he belonged there, it was a very strange but nice feeling and he absolutey loved it.
Noah usually could be seen walking around the castle or in the library. He had a dead look in his eyes, mostly out of boredom, it was just his default expression and since people didn't interact with him much, they didn't see any other side of him. He didn't care much... or at least so he thought. Anyway, he did carry himself like that. Although if someone made an effort to talk to him, and he somehow got into the convo, he could probably end up giving speeches of replies, he had a lot to say, there just was nowhere who wanted to listen or make him realise that.
At his heart, Noah was loyal. If someone did something for him, he remembered it, no matter how small. He had an extreme sense of appreciation towards people. He wouldn't show it... partly because he just didn't know how but also because it was embarrassing and unnecessary. But if someone did him a little favour, he would probably remember it for a long time, he felt really nice when someone tried to do things for him, even if they were small like just asking him how his day was (although that hadn't happened at all, he really would be happy if it did), although again, he would just feel disgusted at how he felt. But he felt it nonetheless.
Although this was contradicted by his inability to read people. He wouldn't know if someone had been nice to him. He was quite... ill-equipped for reading peoples intentions and could very easily misinterpret what someone said, whether it be in a good way or bad, just communication, in general, wasn't his thing.
Noah was usually a very strict person, he maintained his schedules. He went to sleep at 10 PM everyday, even weekends, he woke up at 6 or sometimes 5 and he always spent time at the library to study and catch up to his homework, he was rather neat that way. Fortunately, no pesky people ever bothered him or ruined his routine, what an absolute win for Noah! Although this didn't mean he was a star pupil exactly. He was well mannered and never caused trouble but he didn't exactly stand out much either, he wasn't that smart. He tried his best to put in effort and get good but it didn't always work in his favour.
His first year was extremely uneventful, it almost went by before he knew it. It was all so exciting, the prospet of living at Hogwarts and going to a library to study and keep up with his homework and just... he loved it, so much. The bloody loser didn't even talk to anyone but thought he was living his life there. Okay well, he did talk to people sometimes but he didn't exactly make any friends or had a genuine conversation much. He had the incredible ability to just blend in. He did have some weirdo trying to befriend him, it didn't go too well (ooc: the thread was abandoned sooo rip) and it didn't really change things and he went back to being a loner. He also had someone he was on somewhat good terms with but they didn't interact much later on either.
His second year is where things somewhat started to take off. His journey can only be described as a spiral, things getting worse as the time went by. For one, he was now growing out of his schedule, he still slept at the right time but he was starting to spend time daydreaming and was starting to fall behind on his work. Not by much, fortunately, but still, he ended up overwhelmed way more now because of his lack of control over himself, his feelings were starting to mess with him now.
During his first year, he hadn't had any friends but he couldn't help but feel somewhat fascinated by how others had friends and stuff. It didn't bother him too much. But now when he returned to Hogwarts, there was a nagging, something he wanted to deny but something that existed much more than before. A desire, to make friends and hang out and do the things other people did. This desire was slow but grew on him ever since he arrived at Hogwarts. Especially becoming stronger once he returned for his second year.
It started to become way too much to handle by the new year. He got into a few little interactions here and there in 2019, more than he usually expected but still nothing too big, he was still the same, lonely and denying things he didn't understand, everything was normal.
But by the time 2020 began, it was way stronger. He now almost had it in his mind all the time, the desire to have a friend, a sense of jealousy when he saw others hanging out with their friends and having fun. Seeing others doing fun things together and enjoying themselves was wrong, that's what he told himself. But it looked so much fun, he just really wanted in, but he had no idea how to.
All his time at Hogwarts, he carried himself with disinterest, he really couldn't care less about anything. When someone did interact with him, he tried to act non-chalant. By his second year, he kind of wanted to show others how calm and collected he was and he ended up showing off a bit. It especially made him look like an absolute idiot if someone tried to mess with him, honestly, it's just really funny to see something like that happening with Noah.
In 2020, Noah genuinely started to try and be outgoing. He actually made an effort to keep conversations going and didn't push people away as much. He even tried to get in those useless errands (ooc: entirely noah's opinion, i personally don't have anything against errands, i love errands, errands ftw if you ask me. do not kill me, please.) things! Someone even made a doodle of him and he cherishes that drawing dearly.
One more thing he did was check the ball. That was the first time he was traumatized and all of his wishes to be outgoing came crashing down. Or at least how much he let them control him.
After the quidditch pitch ball, Noah had become grumpy. He was angry at himself for being stupid enough to even think something like that could go well. He was also beginning to hate how loud that urge for making friends still was. He had tried! It didn't go well, it never would, he knew that, he let himself go to free and paid the price. He was not going to make that mistake.
Now I know what you might be thinking, this meant he had gone back to the old him. That he's now back to doing things perfectly but unfortunately this wasn't the same. His feelings were now more intrusive than ever. Having close ever so close to becoming a different person had affected him to a point where he couldn't go back either. He was becoming way more reckless. He didn't think much about what he did or said now. He was still civil and mostly just the same at a first look, from the outside he wasn't that bad off but inside he was having a battle with himself at every moment.
His sleep schedule was the biggest hit. He was now becoming reckless with that and ended up sleeping late, he really didn't see the point in making sure everything was perfect and he slept on time. His studies weren't being affected as much but there was a significant drop in how much he could focus and how efficient he was with working.
And after the little Slytherin party thing where he forgot momentarily who his head of the house was and voiced himself... he really just... well let's just say Noah would really not mind jumping off the common room with embarrassment (but y'know... slytherin common room... in the dungeons...)
His desires were going completely opposite to what he thought, his brain was out of his control, things were absolutely not going well for Noah. How lovely.
By the time third year started, Noah had figured a considerably amount of things out. He spent most of his summer vacations before third year rethinking everything.
Third year was a dull period of Noahs life. Thankfully for him, he made a new friend in the fall ball. For once, Noah felt the genuine connection that he had been dying to feel all this time and for once, he felt really happy. While this didn't fix all of his problems instantly, it did give him some hope. Sadly, Roberta, his new friend, was not from Hogwarts, which made it hard for them to interact often but it was still a huge step for him.
He had a more positive outlook on life from that point. If nothing else, he had felt the "friendship" thing that all the cool kids used to go on about. He used to write owls to Roberta that helped him cope with things a lot better. He was able to focus more on academics now that he had a friend, his only real wish. He still acted as grumpy as ever but deep down, he was happier.
Of course, this started to fade overtime. He started to want more, especially since he rarely ever communicated with Roberta over owls, and more importantly, he felt like he needed more friends in general. He felt bad about it sometimes since he had Roberta.
It all came back to him when he met her again in 2021, for the blossom ball. For the next few months, he had that feeling of content-ness again. Of course, again, it didn't last forever. But this time he could remember that things were still better than before. But all the same, that feeling of wanting to socialize more kept tugging at him. He was simply able to ignore it a lot better.
Noah also stared to grow as a person around this time. Despite being mostly the same, he was a little less grumpy and started developing a sense of humour, horrible as it may be.
With time, Noah ponders and turns things over in his head, trying to get closer to the solution to his problems. By the end of fifth year, he's made his mind up. He would leave for Beauxbatons and start anew with the only friend he had made; Roberta.

Magical Drafts and Potions
First week of August 2018.
Noah lost his Potions textbook and really needs to study for Potions, so he decides to use a copy from the library. Unfortunately, all the copies were taken and the only one left was taken moments before he reaches the library.
SeptemberAntidotes and small talk
First week of August 2018.
Noah struggles to grasp the fact that he has to pair up with people in school for some activities. Oh, there's also some plot about him pairing up with the only person he knows so far and that will most probably make them know each other better, I think that's supposed to be important or something here.
Totally an accident, honest!
Noah bumps into someone completely by accident, this was not a planned move at all (at least not from Noah's side?) He finds himself talking to someone who he rather wouldn't be talking to but she can't really see that, can she?

Aprillook up, not down
The 13th, sometime in the evening.
A bad day of having to submit an assignment late made Noah end up in a bad mood. On his way back to the common room, he happaned to bump into someone and a few minutes later... wait what do you mean he's stargazing with the stranger he just met?! Uh oh looks like Noah just got kidnapped! (Well not really that's quite the dramatization but that's bassicly what happened, I'd say.)
Frustration or Affiliation
The 9th of April, sometime in the afternoon.
Noah was having a horrible study session, feeling rather frustrated and impatient so he decided to rest for a bit and he maybe makes a new friend by his incredible skills at being horrible at studies and easily getting frustrated, good for him (and no, I did NOT come up with that cheesy title :p.)
Can you not?
The 25th of April, sometime in the morning.
Waking up early in the morning like the bloody loser always does, Noah looks forward to another boring and mundane weekend. His plans are crushed by a certain somebody who decides to draw him, without making a good enough effort to hide it up, the nerve! Rest assured, Noah takes some strong action by reluctantly facing the culprit.
Maysecret blossom ball
The 24th of April? (kinda confused abt this, the idea is that the thread above this happened a day before, idk if we messed up the date or if the ball takes place on a different date lol)
Noah didn't know about the ball till much later, and now that he does, he's not sure why anyone thinks this is a good idea. But his curiosity gets the better of him as he decides to go check out what the ball is about. Things go wrong. Yep. Can't believe it either.
JuneWould You Like To Read It
The 30th
Having finished his homework, Noah was in a good mood. But some kid had to keep giggling and reacting to her book. Read in silence, please. Disapproving of it but not being able to speak up about it, Noah endures this agony in silence till she asks him to go di- Oh, no wait she asks him if he wants to read it. Hm, alright then, I guess...
pensive pals and questions answered
The 22nd of june, near lunchtime
another day at hogwarts, another day of noah walking around thinking about things he's thought about a million times now. except this time he runs into someone with questions that might just rival with his own questions for headspace. who's gonna win? place your bets (just kidding, i know this is a pg-13 site and i do not encourage betting or anything. haha.)
Septemberunderwater but not under the weather
The 25th, sometime in the evening
How much time does Noah waste on his thoughts? A lot. How much does it affect him? A lot. What isn't a lot sadly is how much Noah realises about his own feelings and what he needs from life. But how does Noah take things when he finds himself in the presence of a girl who's crying and is forced to try and deal with it somehow, despite him not understanding his own feelings and not knowing anything about this girl or her problems or how to comfort anyone since this is the first time he's been in a situation like this? Yeah, this summary is too long. It's just a really good thread honestly. And yeah, I came up with that title, sorry.
dear diary, today, i lost you
the 25th of september, somtime in the evening
noah is lousy with his diary. he barely ever writes in it, it's more of for a "hey diary here's whats up" every few months. but he never really lost it before, he was pretty careful with his books. well, y'know what they say; there's a first time for everything! had noah been more social, it wouldn't have taken him days of panicking trying to find it back but alas.

the 16th of september
Reluctantly enough, Noah decided to go to the ball. Although when he reached the doors, he realised something; he didn't want to go. But then someone pushes him to go in and he walks into the ball, marking the day he meets his first true friend.

This was left as "none" for the longest time ever, only now that he's in fourth year that i simply have to add one entry to it, how unfortunate, it was so funny seeing "none" under friends.
Roberta Martin
A friend. Noah's first proper "friend". Roberta doesn't study at Hogwarts, which makes it hard for them to ever actually meet each other, but the few times they have are one of Noahs fondest memories. They occasionally write letters to each other to keep in touch, constantly looking forward to the next time the school does something that'll help them see each other again.
