physical description↴ Reducio Nico feature wise takes after most Italians, and his grandfather heavily. Sharing the same hair color and type his grandfather did back when he was the boy's age. Having wavy brown hair that frames his own face, looking deceptively fluffy in it's appearance, but being rather coarse to the touch. His eyes are also derived from his grandfather, a blue that matches the sky on a sunny cloudless day. However, he has his father's button nose and his mother's thin lips. His own unique feature that set's him apart from just being a younger version and an amalgamation of his family's genes; is his moles. One set to rest just underneath his left eye, on his upper left cheekbone. Another on the right side of his neck just slightly below his jawline. Nico has a fast metabolism and doesn't work out. Too focused on magic and studying to bother with enhancing his body. Already slightly above average in height compared to other children his age the best way to describe his overall build was lanky. There weren't any eloquent words that could hide the fact he was thin and tall from the average eye.

mental description↴ Reducio Nico is far from being one the most talkative children around his age. Be it his past social anxiety or his own struggle with small talk. But unlike prior years, he’s not nearly as afraid. Trying his best to converse with “friendly ” looking people so as not to be alone. If there was one thing he learned from his first year, it was that he hated being alone. When with friends or one of his special interests get mentioned he easily becomes much more talkative. To the point where he will start to get louder slightly. Upon realizing his volume he’s prone to embarrassment lowering his tone and not awkwardly laughing. He tries his best not to come off as two much and be polite for his namesake as a Romano. Family means everything to him, but so do friend's. He places both on a pedestal and blinds himself from their wrong. Looking the other way or justifying it in his mind and even supporting them even if he dosen’t agree with their actions. He’s loyal to a fault and is desperate to never lose the people he cares for. Wanting nothing more but their companionship, love, and approval. Nico has always been stubborn, this trait was only fed into by his grandfather who is exactly the same way. When he decides something about a person or what he’s going to it he doesn't change. And sticks to it even if it means his own downfall in the end. It’s hard to talk Nico out of things. He does his best to come off as kind. Hating the thought of people seeing him as cruel, if they did he would never be able to make friends again. So in his quest to be kind, he becomes more of a doormat to others. Letting them use his kindness as much as they need not even realizing if someone is being truthful or just exploiting him. You need homework help? Come to him and just mention it, he’ll do it for you without a single fee. Nico has a a strong moral compass and sticks to it as much as possible. But this also makes him quick to judge and hypocritical. Pointing people out and disliking them for ages while he does the very same things. He easily holds a grudge, espically if it was caused due to an incident involving his friend's or family. Surprising to many people, Nico has a rather competitive streak. He hates losing, and hates getting second place even more. His family values success, winning without any doubt in mind there may have been a different result. That way in which he was raised shows in both his academics and any sports he plays. Nico does have ADHD, and while this has impacted who he is as a person overall. It has mainly affected his ability to pick up social clues, converse, and most definitely affected his ability to apologize. Having difficulty knowing that just saying I’m sorry isn’t enough but not knowing how to word it to seem sincere. And then later on go and prove through his actions he is trying his best to change. Because of this he rather opts to not apologize at all, figuring they should know he is sorry by how he acts afterward.

First Instance of Accidental Magic:

Reducio

Growing up in a magical household and knowing magic existed, Nico expected his first incident of accidental magic to be much sooner in his life than when it was. Hearing the tales from his grandparents and parents of their own incidents when they were around 5 and six. Nico wasn't expecting his own to happen two years after he had turned six years old. The eight-year-old in a fit of rage had unknowingly made half the plates in the cupboards shatter without ever laying a finger on them. Since then he had purposefully tried to make something magical happen, even if he knew it was to no avail. He was always unsuccessful and never did seem to make anything magical happen again after that.

Pre-Hogwarts History:

Reducio

Nico is an Italian pure-blood, and the first generation in his family born in London, England. His father Vito Romano, mother Chiara Romano, and grandfather and grandmother; Lorenzo and Aurora respectfully. Had moved together as a family to London in pursuit of a new home, new opportunities, and new beginnings. Nico was born on August 24th, 2012, two years apart from his older brother Luca. Who, always the problem child, was sent to live with their uncle and aunt back in Verona, Italy. Homeschooled his entire life, as his mother and father worked through the days he was taught by his grandfather and grandmother. His grandmother took on more basic education lessons like mathematics, reading, and science, teaching Nico English. When speaking to Nico she only ever spoke in the lingua franca. Whilst his grandfather taught him their family's history, the history of the wizarding world, and anything magical you could think of, along with teaching Nico Italian. Much like how his grandmother only ever spoke English to him, his grandfather only ever spoke Italian to the growing boy. He grew up the closest to his grandfather. He turned to the strict but surprisingly kind man whenever he had nightmares or needed guidance. His grandfather never truly judged him, he may not have provided words of comfort but he was always there for Nico. Some of his most comforting memories are the nights he spent in his room after a nightmare, his grandfather sitting in a chair promising not to leave him alone only until after Nico had fallen asleep.
