Appearances & Aesthetics
Maeve is thin with a complexion of the finest porcelain. Her features are symmetrical and pleasing despite her youth; they demonstrate a foundation that promises the sharp ones of her mother that are deemed aesthetically pleasing. She’s fairly average height standing at 4'7", with her long thin limbs promising a spur that might leave her fairly tall. Considering the 5’8 of her mother, and though she doesn’t know her father, his 6’4 will definitely help her body’s quest for growth. Most noticeable is the rich deep red locks that fall in perfectly varied curls from her head. When wet, her hair easily goes lower than the middle of her back. Most days, it rests against her shoulders. Reducio
MBM Though her wardrobe back home is quite extensive, her trunk comprises the following items:
3 Jackets
2 Tank tops
3 Shirts
4 Sweaters
1 Cardigan
3 Pants
2 Dresses
5 Pairs of footwear.
Beneath the Surface
Curiosity has always been a driving trait for Maeve, who looks at her surroundings with fascination and a desire for understanding. She’s always been the type to stick her nose in the wrong place, and though it isn’t malicious, it has landed her in trouble more times than not. When it comes to success, Maeve wants to shine in her own way. However, she does wish for her mother’s approval and strives to maintain a good relationship. Despite that, she’s also quite keen to unravel a mystery. She’s somewhere between an introvert and an extrovert, and this depends highly on her environment. She is adaptable and styles her reactions based on her surroundings. She likes working alone or in small groups but feels energized when in a social setting. [More in Reducio]
ReducioRegarding her thought process and methodology, she is uncaring of how others perceive her. She is comfortable in her own skin, or at least; she does her best to mimic this superpower of her mothers she has noted through the lens of her youth. There’s a silent stillness to her mother that feels dangerous, an aura she hopes to achieve someday as she tries on various masks. Despite her deep admiration for her mother, she silently wages a daily war against her. Maeve wants to surpass her parent to become a better version of what she is faced with. This comes from the neglect she feels when her mother works long hours and rarely wants to play. Although truthful, the statement's accuracy is vastly exaggerated by the lens of her youth.
Though verbose and highly intelligent, Maeve can be a bit overdramatic. She won’t publicly meltdown or anything like that, but she holds on to grudges and spite. Some might say she might live an entire life out of spite and the ability to do so. She feels things deeply and is slowly trying to think things through in her quest to surpass her mother. This is a struggle for her between the impulse of adventure and the desire for logical analyses.
She loves a plan she has always been the type of child to need to know what is coming up. Color codings and schedules are her best friends, and change doesn’t often come easy. Though she is keen on following rules, she cannot abide by something she doesn’t feel is relevant. In such instances, she can yield her rigidity for what she would consider the “right thing” and bend them to her desires.
When Maeve was three, she sneezed bubbles. This left her very confused. Much more so when her mother was quite ecstatic. As her mother tells the story which she does not remember, she rolls her eyes wishing she’d set fire to a favorite pair of her mother’s heels instead.First Instance of MagicThe story so far...ReducioAs a member of the Magical Artifacts Division, Gwyneira Blythe is a very busy woman. Her time spent at the Ministry and peppered with trips around the world to retrieve artifacts or help other Ministry members handle them. When she was pregnant with her daughter Maeve, she feared being a horrendous parent. Although she could have reached out to her flame, Lewis Liam1, but the fact that he had his own family kept her silent. She did not need a handout and refused to be a homewrecker. She was above that; single parenthood wasn’t uncommon after the last war. As a competent witch and strong female, who better than to take on such a natural role? If most mammals could do so, then so could she. Though Eira did her best to raise her daughter, she often delegated the task to a governess and various tutors to entertain and educate Maeve in her absence. Following her own shortcomings, she had little expectation when it came to her daughter being able to learn from her. She herself had been too unbridled to learn from her parents, and she didn’t want the tenseness with her daughter she more often called ‘sis’ as a term of endearment than her name.
Though Maeve was born in London and spent the first year there, Gwyneira moved to Bath closer to friends and remaining relatives to gain the proverbial village needed to raise a child. There, she had friends with children of their own that were of appropriate backgrounds to be around her daughter. Maeve met her friend Avery2 when she first moved there. But because he was a boy, she found him rather annoying, though as Hogwarts came around and he’d accomplished a first year there, she felt a need to cultivate their friendship if only to have a sound footing once at school. To hear their mothers talk over tea, he was doing quite well for himself there.
Growing up, Maeve had a good life. She lacked and wanted for nothing - at least by most standards. In her formative years, she was taught to read and write while adding things like Latin and Greek roots, arithmetic, basic concepts of magic and sciences, and was encouraged to learn an instrument and two languages of her choice. Maeve, being the spiteful child she was, picked the bagpipe. And given the grievances her mother had with two particular love affairs she’d had, she chose French and Scot Gaelic to the mix. If she were to remember the almost stepfathers she’d had, she would ensure her mother never forgot the pain it caused her not to have a nuclear family. It also gave her more freedom to be away from her mother’s gaze and explore the world around their estate and London Flat when possible, as the woman often threw her hands in the air and often said a “whatever works for you sis," as she so often did.
In her eleventh year of existence, the infamous letter to Hogwarts came, and Maeve was ecstatic. She wanted nothing more than to be away from her family home. To leave the familiar gardens and routine. She wanted the independence she so craved and looked forward to not only having friends but friends she otherwise wouldn’t encounter. Friends that weren't curated for her through familial bonds and friendships. Walking in London, growing up alongside her mother, had made for too many yanks away from potential friends in parks. She didn’t understand her mother was merely trying to protect her from herself and others, but she yearned for freedom.

LIFE AT BLACKMORE MANOR
ReducioBlackmore Manor has been in the family for many generations. It's a humble country abode with lavish gardens. The staff comprises house elves and a few human staff members. The gardens and lands are left in the care of Hans who handles all exterior labor. The kitchens are entirely manned by elves, but seeing as Miss Blackmore does not wish to see the elves she has a maid and a footman to help as she needs around the house. Servant quarters are out of sight, but allow for quick service when needed.
Miss Victoria Rose, has been Maeve's governess since she was born. She helps ensure the girl's education and is in many ways a glorified babysitter. Her quarters are in Maeve's wings as she also serves as a chaperone.
