Marietta just wants to help people, and to have someone by her side other than her cat. She always has cookies and a friendly word ready, always trying to be of help. She doesn't blame people for not wanting to be her friend. Shes not particularly fond of herself either, so why should she expect people to like her? All she can do is hope that there is somebody who wants to be friends with a spineless, clumsy, boring girl. Her grandmother said that she could change the spineless part though. So shes doing her best to change that while still helping others and being somebody they can rely on.

Marietta is a large girl. She has broad shoulders, thick arms, and long legs. Her hair is a reddish brown that can't pick between curls or waves. Turning it into a sort of haze of frizz. Leafs and twigs seem to be perpetually stuck in her hair. Her eyes are a honeyed brown that have a perpetual earnest look to them. Her skin isn't quite tan, but she has the dusty freckles of lots of time spent outside. She often wears cozy clothes beneath a pair of overalls. All in colors that aren't muted, but not bright enough to burn your eyes.

Background
Pre-Hogwarts

Marietta was born in Ware, England. Her parents weren't over fond of each other but they loved Marietta, so Marietta essentially grew up with one parent showing up to an event. They rarely spent time together as a family, and when they did it was because her parents were arguing. When that happened, Marietta found comfort in her video games, and the orchard in their backyard. Newell [her dad] is an investigator for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures [which pays pretty well] sometimes he finds injured creatures, and takes them back to his orchard. Carefully nursing them health and releasing them back into the wild. Amelia [Marietta's mom] is an aromatherapist who has taught Marietta a lot about essential oils and has a large collection of scented candles. The reason Marietta's parents have an uneasy relationship with each other is because Newell neglected to tell Amelia he was a wizard until after they were married. Amelia didn't take this well, and dismissed him calling him delusional. She often encourages Marietta not to listen to his 'ravings'. Amelia doesn't divorce him because freelance aromatherapy doesn't pay as much as what ever his imaginary job is. Newell doesn't divorce Amelia because he is afraid of navigating muggle court and he knows that Amelia would win custody rights since he would have trouble proving his job is real. Marietta has a group of 'friends' that she's always gone to muggle school with. There's quotes around friends because they mostly just keep her around so they have someone to make fun of.
Marietta will go to great lengths to protect the people she cares for. She's also very passionate about what she does. Most people perceive her as shy when they first meet her but in truth she's quite social and talkative when she's with people she knows. She also has very mild anxiety causing her to fidget often, get stressed out over things unnecessarily and quickly, and be rather awkward when it comes to first impressions.

Marietta had her first accidental instance of magic when she was 6. when Marietta's neighbor had a particularly viscous dog. One afternoon when Marietta was playing hopscotch on the sidewalk, the dog got out. Marietta heard the rapid barking of her neighbor's dog a little louder then usual she turned to see the dog charging at her. Marietta run as hard and as fast as her tiny legs could but she eventually tripped on a crack in the pavement. Curling up she heard as the dog got closer and was ready to be torn apart when the sound of the dog's claws on the pavement disappeared and its barks turned to whines. Marietta looked up and saw the dog floating in the air then drop to the ground. As soon as the dog hit the ground it ran off back into his owners yard and was quite friendlier especially to Marietta.
