Reaching for heigher heights!
Marietta would inhale the lovely scent of pure nature. She had told herself while leaving her dorm that this was going to be a study session. Instead of studying in the study hall or whatever classroom she was working on, she would study in the outdoors! Definitely... absolutely... study. She would hunt down a lovely looking tree and sit against it. She'd set her books down and put Fen, [her lovely Siberian cat] in her lap. Then begin.
It didn't take long for her plan to dissolve. First a leaf fell into her book, Marietta would toss the leaf aside and fen would leap after it, attacking it mercilessly. Marietta would try to go back to her work but couldn't help looking up every now and again to watch her little prince of cats play with his leaf. Eventually she grabbed his leaf when he came near and held it up. This made it so he would have to jump to bat at it. Every time Fen managed to hit the leaf, she'd answer a question.Until she a got a wonder full idea and blew away the leaf, which sent Fen running and Marietta giggling.
Marietta would set aside her books and go running after Fen. "Come Fengel! Get that leaf!" She'd call out laughing, her chest feeling impossibly light and joyful. They spent awhile chasing after said leaf. Marietta only stopped because she had finally taken a good look at the tree she had been sitting under. It really was perfect! Perfect... for climbing. Oh sure, last time she had badly bruised her arm, but hey, at least it was fun. Marietta would run, not a care in the world for the little hills or roots she could trip over, run until she reach the beautiful tree. True, the branches were a tad high up but she was sure she could reach them!
She couldn't reach them. Try as she might, stretching, jumping, even hugging and shimmying up the tree. She couldn't do it, it was obvious, she needed help.

Taking a walk on dedicated walking paths was proper and ladylike... right? Tesla hoped so, as she was currently doing just that, following the winding trails through the grounds. Tesla couldn't help but feel like her grandmother's gaze was still weighing down on her, keeping her from running around freely through the grass, but she'd just been so cooped up in the common room she couldn't stand it anymore! The day was beautiful, and she had to be outside or she was going to lose her marbles! Walking around on the more dedicated paths, Tesla smiled slightly as she looked at students out enjoying this lovely fall day. There was a student playing with her cat under a tree, and Tesla thought wistfully of Argentum whom she'd left back in her dorm, snoozing away in his cage.Date and Time: Sept 14, Afternoon.
ReducioImportant Note for September-October 2023: For these two months only, Tes is wearing nice black clothes, will be clean at all times, and her hair will be brushed and semi-neat. She is not wearing her signature bandanas, rather only a thick black bracelet made out of ebony wood to cover her werewolf bite. Her freckles are faded, and she has no sunburns. By default, her expression is bland, and she doesn't have her usual pep in her step. Anyone who has seen her before can see this is out of sorts for her, but she doesn't seem sad or like the behavior should be of any concern for her wellbeing, simply that she's more serious and less energized or joyful.
When she glanced back, she saw that same student jumping, trying fruitlessly to climb up a tree. Tesla hadn't been able to climb that tree this time last year either, but she'd grown a few inches so, she should be able to reach this year. Not to mention she wasn't "playing" or "scrambling up trees like a hooligan", she was helping a fellow student! Wandering down the hill she called out, "Hi! Do you need any help with that tree?"

Marietta stood on her tiptoes and jumped. She managed to brush her fingertips against the leaves this time, just a little bit closer! She'd jump again, not reaching the leaf this time. Rats she'd think until another student spoke near by. Marietta would figuratively, jump this time. She hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings [per usual] and missed the other student till they began to speak.
"Oh! Er, well I'd hate to be a bother. Yes, I need help with this tree but I don't want to inconvenience you on such a lovely day. Plus seeing how nicely your dressed I'm sure you have other, equally lovely plans." Marietta would say, half-gesturing to her own traditional black robes with yellow lined hoodie.
She would love the help and the company but what if she was going to meet someone? What if she was late meeting that someone and that someone was no longer her friend or significant other? What if they ended up both terribly mad at the other because of that day, while secretly missing each other in secret? Then it would be all her fault for excepting the help. No, she can't let that happen.
So Marietta would wait for confirmation that the girl wasn't doing anything before officially agreeing to let her help.

Tes couldn't help a small smile at the other girl's response, fondly shaking her head at her polite response. "Oh, no, I was just going for a walk," she glanced down at her bland, if nice quality and vaguely expensive, black clothes, lip curling in distaste for a moment before she quickly wiped the expression from her face, "No plans here! Just trying to enjoy the weather before it gets too cold for the fall." She took a deep breath, enjoying the crisp air that was perfectly warmed, not too cold but not the oppressive heat of the middle of summer either. Summer might be her favorite season, but even she didn't like the heat enough to wear layers of black clothes during it.
Tes stepped closer, holding out a hand to shake and introduce herself. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Tesla Stone. I'm a Hufflepuff too! I'd really be happy to help, I think I tried to climb this tree last year but I couldn't quite reach the bottom branch either. It's not like I'm doing anything better." She glanced up, squinting at the tree. She could possibly climb it herself if she jumped really hard or did an ungainly scramble up the side, but it wouldn't be difficult to lift the other girl up to a low branch.

"Great!" Marietta cheered. "Oh, not to say that you not having plans is a good thing. I mean, its good for me, but I would hate to imply that its good that you have nothing to do." She'd hurriedly add on. She would hate to make a poor first impression on a potential new friend. Marietta would then take Tesla's hand, shaking it. "Marietta, Marrietta Griffis. Pleasure to meet you! And now that I know you don't have any plans... Maybe you can give me a boost up to the lower branch? Once up I could probably help pull you up too."
Marietta mused assessing the tree. The branch was low enough that if she hung by her legs she could probably pull Tesla. Then they could both enjoy the weather from a higher- Marrietta froze. "Ack! So sorry, I didn't mean to assume that you would want to climb the tree as well. Would you like to come up with me? Its alright if not! I just believe that such weather is better enjoyed by two." Marietta would say in a rush, stumbling over her words. She'd look down after this and fidget with her hands. It had been awhile since she'd spoken to some one other than her cat or herself. She just hoped Tesla didn't think she was too weird after this interaction.

Tes couldn't help but let her lips curl with amusement, covering her mouth to hide the way she was struggling not to grin wildly. "I'd like to think it's a good thing I have nothing to do, since that means no homework or anything boring I have to be doing," she answered, stepping forward towards the tree after Marietta finishes shaking her hand, and nodded in agreement.
"I should be able to lift you up, no issue!" Tes glanced around hesitantly, looking at the relatively empty grounds. No one was close enough to recognize her, and even if they were, did she really care? Most people she knew were fully aware that she'd usually scramble up a tree at a moment's notice. They wouldn't even think of telling her grandmother. Tes had to get over this paranoia somehow, and with a spark of rebellion she waved off the other girl's stumbling apology. "I'd really appreciate it if you could lift me up after! I still haven't been able to see the view from this tree."
Tes stationed herself with her left shoulder to the tree so she could brace herself, and Marietta would have the trunk to balance herself on as she reached for the bottom branch. Lacing her hands together and crouching slightly to stabilize herself, Tes turns to Marietta. "Ready when you are!"
OOC: Feel free to assume that Tes boosts Marietta up, or otherwise helps her up into the tree if Marietta uses her hands as a step, if you'd like.
