Emma is of petite stature and average height. She has fair skin, freckles, and a heart-shaped face. Her nose is small and upturned, and her eyes are a pale shade of blue. She has wavy auburn hair that is quite soft to the touch.

PERSONALITY

Emma is kind and compassionate and firmly believes in doing what’s right. She goes out of her way to help people, especially her friends and family. She is a fairly sensitive and anxious person, but she tries to understand and accept her emotions rather than fighting them. She is neat, hard-working, and responsible. Her attention to detail allows her to do well in her studies and complete projects with great success if given enough time; she works hard, not fast. She likes being around people and has natural leadership skills, but she’s most comfortable around those she already knows well. Because she is prone to negative emotions, she can become a bit needy without reassurance.

As for her hobbies, Emma loves to bake everything from scones to biscuits and has developed a fondness for nature from growing up in the countryside. She has a lovely singing voice and can frequently be heard humming to herself quietly. Lastly, being the studious and hard-working girl that she is, Emma loves to curl up with a good book.

Emma grew up in the small wizard village of Appleby in North Lincolnshire, England. She was born to pure-blood witch Keira MacCaffrey-Bennettand muggle-born wizard Raymond Bennett. Both of her parents were Hufflepuffs. They were clearly both magical as well, though Emma is technically considered a half-blood due to her dad’s muggle-born status.

Keira’s parents – Eleanor and Alastar MacCaffrey – were furious when they heard of their daughter’s marriage to muggle-born Raymond. They stopped speaking to her and have never had a relationship with Emma.

Emma’s paternal portion of the family is much different. Raymond was raised by a single mom named Carol who is friendly, energetic, and quite the nonconformist. She lives in London but visits Emma in Appleby on occasion, always bringing with her a sense of joyousness and excitement.

Sadly, Emma lost her mom to a bad case of dragon pox when she was young, so now it’s just her and her dad. He works hard at the Muggle Liaison Office at the Ministry of Magic to take care of her. He’s sensitive like Emma and rather quiet and unadventurous, but very kind when you get to know him. The two of them live a simple life, and Emma frequently helps out with chores around the house.

Everyone says Emma’s mom was just like her: warm, kind, loving, and gentle. Attending Hogwarts has Emma feeling closer to Keira than ever, and she can’t wait to follow in her mom’s footsteps.

FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC

Her first use of magic came at age five. She wanted a snickerdoodle cookie that her dad had just baked, but he told her to wait until after dinner. He then placed them on a counter that she couldn’t reach. Ever emotional, Emma began to cry. Suddenly one of the cookies dropped down from the counter and landed right in front of her. Snickerdoodles have been her guilty pleasure ever since.

Emma has a thirty-one-and-a-half-centimetre aspen wood wand with a unicorn hair core. This wand is unusually long for such a small girl and may signify a dramatic style of magic. Aspen wands are prized for their ivory appearance, which Emma finds very pretty indeed.​​ They are often drawn to owners who are strong-minded and determined. The unicorn hair core makes her wand faithful and difficult to turn to the dark arts. Though Emma may appear sensitive and quiet, her wand suggests that she’ll have an aptitude for strong magic.
