𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. a one faye cosette simmons was born on the stormy night of saint patricks day, or the 17th of march, to couple aisling and harry simmons. aisling was a perfectly normal muggle woman, working as a teaching assistant in a local primary school, meanwhile harry slaved away at the university in derry, forgetting about his family and coming home late.

faye spend her whole childhood cooped up inside her small, council estate cottage, north-east of derry. she was home schooled by her mother who, despite working at a school, wasn't the best at teaching the young girl. no matter how she tried to, faye just wouldn't take in the information. therefore, her education wasn't the best. she was taught how to read, yes in fact, she could read very well, but she never took the time to hone her skills of spelling or mathematics.

her most profound memory was when her mother took her out into the city and left her outside an convenience store, making her so anxious she began to make friends with a spider. it was only five minutes but it felt like a year for faye, crouched on the pavement crying her eyes out. from this event and another containing a charity shop, ABBA cds and sprite, faye made the decision to stay inside her house on a sort of 'self proclaimed lockdown'.

the girl's parents tried desperately to get their daughter to interact with people, but she simply refused to even go outside, which caused quite a ruckus with the neighbours. she was diagnosed as somewhere on the autism spectrum when she turned eleven, along with a special letter for hogwarts.

𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. to faye, hogwarts was both an escape and a nightmare. on one hand, she would finally be away from a life where she was cooped up with nothing but her thoughts, and that was a horrifying thing, but, on the other, she would have to finally interact with society. and mingle. it hadn't bothered her that she was a witch, to be honest that bit only really sunk in once she had to run through a wall, but to have to go to a magic school? in scotland? it was all a bit... strange. 'course, faye wasn't immune to strange things, but it really was peculiar.

it was a long and boring journey to kings cross from ireland. having to sit whilst your parents argue is not the type of magic school experience faye was wanting. she had it all planned out. how could it be going to wrong?? the journey on the hogwarts express was fine, although her carriage-mates were not what she was expecting. faye's first year mostly consisted of making friends (and then instantly forgetting about them), tiresome lessons where she was always the one far behind and lengthy treks to the owlery to send letters back home. of course, she never received an actual reply, both her parents were always far too busy to answer their daughter.
