βββββββββββββββββ APPEARANCE & STYLE βββββββββββββββββ Reducio Between bright hazel eyes, an adorable button nose, and a dimpled grin, itβs easy to understand why people would underestimate Lucky. She looks sweet at first glance, harmless even, until she opens her mouth. She has always been the smallest person in the room and somehow the loudest anyway. Lucky carries herself with the sometimes insincere confidence of someone three times her size. When she first arrived at Hogwarts, she stood at 4'6 -- a snarky know it all with nothing but scraped knees and potential. A few growth spurts later, Lucky is now entering her fifth year at 5'4 --wiry and compact but growing into her body. During school hours, her robes are always immaculate, though thereβs inevitably something slightly off about them: enamel pins littering the black fabric, mismatched socks with bizarre patterns, colorful streaks in her long hair. She's always had an instinctive need to stand out despite her fear of being seen. For years, she hid behind oversized shirts, baggy jeans, battered converse, and chipped nail polish, but as her confidence in magic (and herself) slowly sharpened, her style began to evolve. At sixteen, she's embraced a more cohesive style with enthusiasm. now her wardrobe swings between skater-girl chaos and trendy gen z flair: ripped jeans, argyle sweaters, crop tops, choppy bob cut. βββββββββββββββββ FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC βββββββββββββββββ Reducio It was her birthday. The sixth one. The very first one without her mother. Lucinia had been uncharacteristically quiet most of the day. She only seemed to perk up when she put her party dress on. There was a big celebration happening -- an important and necessary one as far as her father was concerned. They needed to find their new normal. To get back to being a family. Pretty arts & crafts tables were set up in the backyard, bouncy houses set up, with planned appearances from not only Anna but Elsa too. The party had barely begun but darkened clouds threatened the fun. Still, Alatar kept the party on, praying the rain didn't come down. But the Thawins hadn't had much lucky lately. Rain burst through the clouds, sending everyone scattering. Kids yelled happily, some dismayed as their artwork was ruined. Lucky sat in the grass in a kind of shock -- until she saw her dress and shoes were a mess. Everyone was running away! Her party was ruined. She began to screech, upset by the interruption. "Daddy! Daddy!" She cried and stamped her little foot, huffing when more mud splattered across her clothing. Tears welled in her little eyes when her father reached for her hand, practically dragging her to the house. By the time he'd gotten everyone inside and did a headcount, Alatar turned to his daughter to get her beloved shoes clean... Only to find Lucky standing alone under the veranda, peering out of the doors. The rain kept pelting down -- uncaring about the important party that was now over. Tears still dotted the little girl's cheeks but her shoes were clean. Her clothes were completely dry. Even her hair -- pulled back into a pretty ponytail with ribbons -- was completely fine. Alatar moved to her, brushing his hand against her hair as if he had to see if his eyes were deceiving him. It was impossible. Lucky stood there, leaning against the glass. She was upset beyond belief and didn't seem to notice that the shoes she was crying for were completely fine. She turned to her father with a sigh, tears glimmering in her hazel eyes. Even the strongest of wizards may be caught off guard with your clever use of muggle items. Don't have those? Your fists work in a pinch | +3 accuracy roll on non-magical attacks & actions
EVASIVE MANEUVERS | Very nimble, you are harder to hit than average. Perhaps you even have a tingling sense when danger is near. Whatever the case, you seem to get out of the way just in the nick of time more than everyone else. | Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separately from the attack roll.
SIXTH SENSE | You just have a sense for things. You notice more often than most when something is out of place, such as a chair that is breathing or a snake in the grass that looks like it is watching you. | +2 to their awareness rolls. If a player attempts to enter a thread that you are already in, there is a 25% chance that you automatically detect them on entry. Users with this ability have immunity to the Charmer ability.
PRODIGAL CHARMS LEARNER | You are reading ahead in your textbooks or perhaps you have learned some charms at home from your parents or via a tutor. | Able to learn charms 1 year ahead of their actual school year. At end game they learn 1 restricted charm.
FEARLESS | You do not scare easily. In fact they might even call you fearless. | Fear effects such as a dhampir's aura, the ability terrible presence, a lycanothrope's intimidation or certain charms, potions and jinxes that would normally cause a fear effect do not work on you as you are immune to them.

BACKSTORY
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ| ββ | THAWINS: The Thawins are typical. This evaluation of them may disconcert some but they are what you expect old wizarding families to be: pure of blood, complicated ties, and deep loyalty to one another -- generations raised on the belief that the core family, comes before everything else. Their motto is nihil praeter fidem. Nothing except faith. Faith in the family. In only one another. Alatar Eoin Thawin was raised in the center of that, the eldest son of Abaran and Morganite Thawin and older brother to Iolana, Jilena, and Dranian. Charming, idealistic, and soft-hearted to a fault, Alatar never quite fit the mold his family imagined for him. He loved music more than anything -- preferred crowded british pubs to family gatherings. Eventually, he fell hopelessly in love with a Muggle woman who believed in magic long before she ever saw it. Choosing her meant choosing a radically different life. Though the family never fully forgave what they viewed as betrayal, Alatar never regretted the choice. To him, Ronnie was worth the loss. ACEVEDO: The Acevedos, by contrast, were warm in a louder, more ordinary way: bustling kitchens, holiday phone calls, Christmas cards sent every year. They loved openly VerΓ³nica Marie Acevedo Rivera grew up ambitious, quick-witted, and practical, the youngest daughter of Benicio and Milena Acevedo and sister to Lola and Bianca. The family left New York for London when she was a teen, the culture shock of another world never quite catching up to Ronnie. She adjusted beautifully. She dreamed of becoming a journalist and actually did it. LONDON: Together, Ronnie and Alan built a family. Their son, Malarin, inherited his motherβs easy confidence while Lucinia βLuckyβ Thawin inherited her fatherβs stubbornness. For years, they believed they'd avoided magic. Malarin had no magical abilities at all and they were certain Lucky would be the same. All the way up until Ronnie's sudden death in a car accident shattered the illusion. Afterward, magic erupted out of Lucky. Her grief had an outlet and it forced Al to finally bring his children fully into the world he had once left behind. Even now, the line between the Acevedos and the Thawins remains uneven and complicated. One family mourns Ronnie openly beside them. The other still wrestles with old resentment while reaching for the children anyway. Messy as it is, there is still love. |
