Curious: The phrase “Curiosity killed the cat” perfectly explains Rora. She regularly gets into accidental mischief by pushing the boundaries and limits.

Resourceful: Rora can make anything work and wit her way out of most situations. Her mind is strategic, analytical and more “fight” rather than “flight” mode.

Warm: If you’re close to Rora, she’s quite lovely, warm and loyal. At first, she’s shy but comes around quickly if you bond with her over magical creatures, herbology, quidditch or potions.

Intelligent: Both book smart and street smart. Rora learns best by doing, but has an impeccable memory and retains the smallest of details. This has always set her up for success in her schoolwork

Growing up in Killin was a nature lover’s wonderland. During the winters, she would ski with her Scottish, muggleborn father Archie and in the summers, she would learn all about plants with her Swiss, herbologist mother, Rose. She was the youngest of 5: twin brothers who were seventh years, a fourth year brother and a second year sister. The twins, Finlay and Calan, were best described as flower children who loved astronomy and played in a band with some of their fellow Hufflepuffs. Ash was an aspiring prefect and head boy for Ravenclaw, kept to himself and memorized every book front to back. Ansley was also a Ravenclaw with a knack transfiguration and an interest in magical creatures. And then there’s Rora…

She takes after both her mother and father. She has her mother’s passion for the earth and her father’s drive for experimentation. Their family was comfortable financially and extremely tight knit. Rora was closest with Ansley but most competitive with Ash, never letting him win at wizards chess without a long, strategic fight. Ash and Rora got into frequent spats and felt the need to compete in everything they did, especially academics. She and Ansley often got into trouble exploring and bringing whatever magical creatures they came across in the woods back home with them.

There were always children at the Accola’s home since it was on a large plot of land near the Scottish highlands and there weren’t many rules in the household. She and Ansley had a close group of wizarding friends growing up. From a young age, Aurora was given independence, while also having to face repercussions when she pushed the boundaries too far.

Rora’s mother, Rose, was a pureblood herbologist while her muggleborn father, Archibald but Archie for short, worked as a chemist. It wasn’t infrequent that experiments between the two professions overlapped at home. Her parents favored all that nature had to offer and ensured she grew up playing outside as much as she could.

Rose was tending to the floral bushes when she heard a loud bang from the greenhouse. She ran over and to her dismay, found a family of gnomes sprinting for cover. Grabbing them by the beards and cursing under her breath, she stormed out and dropped them abruptly with a gasp. She had left Rora alone for just a minute and a variety of picked flowers was sitting in front of her. Rora lifted up her hand toward the heather bush as a bunch broke off and floated down toward her. “You’ll be a wonderful witch,” her mother whispered.
