The start of the summer holidays had just begun. Starlee was well into her first week of the break, and it seemed she had already run out of things to do. Why was it so hard to find things to occupy her time? Starlee groaned as she flopped down on her bed. She had been told - and by this point completely forgotten as many nine-year-old's would - that today their greenhouse would be getting a visitor, and one with a child around Starlee's age. If she had remembered this tidbit of information, perhaps she would be a bit more excited about the days prospects. But instead, she lay face down on her bed, unsure of what fantasy to explore next.

Starlee went to muggle schooling at the insistence of their mother. Of course, it had ended up benefiting her brother, who had turned out to be a squib, but with Starlee having shown her first signs of magic almost four years ago, she didn't understand why she still had to attend. Her brother didn't seem to mind much; he was always hidden away in his room tinkering with this and that. He was sure to do great things in the muggle world. But this separation kept Starlee away from the magical world, and she knew very few people that had the same gift. This new child could be a brand new way for her to see the magical world.

While the Kennedy family lived in a flat in downtown Edinburgh, they had a large magical greenhouse atop the entire complex, hidden from magical eyes. With her father being a healer, having quick access to basic plants was rather important. Of course he had a few colleagues at work and he had recently met one with a daughter around the age of his own. Her father had decided that, both in the interest of some stimulating herbology conversation, and for the benefit of his daughter making a magical friend, he would invite them over in the hopes of a family friendship.

"Star... Star? Come on out of your room now and up to the greenhouse!" She could hear her father yell from the top of the stairs. Groaning, she put on her shoes and loudly thumped her way to the top of the complex. She would enter the greenhouse to find her father frantically prepping the garden, and it looked cleaner than it had in quite some time. "Whoa Da, it's so clean!" Starlee walked over to observe some of the flowers. "Oi, don't touch anything! Our guests will be here soon."

"I- Guests?!?" Starlee said, realization and remembrance hitting her. She wasn't sure if she should be concerned or excited, but she hoped the fellow magical child would be kind. That was all she could ask for.

DING DONG. The family doorbell suddenly rang, and Starlee's father wiped his brow with a nearby rag. "Yes, Guests, Star! That'll be them now, come on now, lets not leave them waiting." He ushered her down the stairs quickly, straight down to the front door. Starlee desperately tried to primp her long blonde hair, adjusting a pink flower clip slightly. She hadn't met another magical child her age before, so she felt she had to look her best and the fact that she hadn't had the time she felt she needed made her even more concerned.

Her father also adjusted his shirt, took the door by the handle, and opened it joyfully. "Ahhh yes, Welcome, Welcome! Come right on in!" He would usher them inside before making full introductions.

As they entered, they would see a modest entryway and sitting room, and her father would attempt to usher their guests to the chairs. "Please, take a seat and we shall introduce ourselves." He would sit down, patting the couch beside him for Starlee to sit, and she would promptly sit next to him, all the while staring at the new girl who was entering their home. Sure, this was probably a bit too formal of an introduction for two girls under ten, but it was what he knew.

"I'm Orion, and this here is my daughter Starlee." He would say, directing his introduction toward his guests, even if he already knew one of them.
