With the seasons starting to change and the weather getting warmer, Logan decided it would be the perfect day to study out in the courtyard. With the sun being out and the sound of birds chirping, it put the Hufflepuff into a good mood, something that wasn't common most days.

Logan walked into the courtyard, a smile on her face as she saw she came out early enough that there was almost no one there. She sat down on a bench in the far corner of courtyard, she would be able to watch people from here but not be disturbed if more people came out and started messing around. The small Hufflepuff pulled her DADA book out of her bag, laying all of her homework out around her on the bench. Her wand lay on her right side, easy access if she needed to grab it. DADA had been Logan's hardest class so far in the year, along with Transfiguration so she had been putting off all of her homework for those classes until now.

"Periculum," she muttered as she looked down at the questions she had to answer and started to flip through her book, trying to find the spell or at least remember how she had learned the spell. Whenever it came to spells, Logan was not the greatest at all.

The Hufflepuff grumbled as she looked down at her piece of parchment and started to scribble down an answer, even though it probably wasn't correct at all. "Imps," the twelve year old girl muttered as she looked down at her open book with a huff of anger and frustration. Her father wanted her to have amazing grades, and at the rate she was going, that wasn't going to happen with two of the classes

Kristen stepped out in to the courtyard. He had been trying to get to his charms classroom, to ask the teacher about the homework, but like so many times before, Kristen had gotten terribly lost.
He looked around the courtyard, confused. He was sure the class was around here somewhere.
He shook his head and sighed.
"I'm just going to have to ask for directions." Kristen muttered to himself.
Surveying the courtyard, he could only see one other person there; a Hufflepuff, who was doing what he assumed to be homework. However, as he approached her he noticed that she was looking quite frustrated, even angry. Having already completed most of his homework, Kristen wondered if he could help.
He heard her muttering something...
"Periculum,"
"Imps,"
She must have been doing the DADA homework. Kristen had already completed that (and had found it quite easy) so maybe he could help the girl with it. He sat down beside the girl, and cleared his throat.
" Are you doing the Defense Against the Dark Arts homework ?" he asked, tilting his head slightly so he could read the book she was holding.
"I've already finished that. Maybe I could help you with it ? "

Logan was consuntrating so much on her homework that she never noticed whenever someone else had sat next to her, that is until they spoke. The small Hufflepuff jumped slightly at the new voice beside her and glanced over to see a boy around her age sitting there.
"I've already finished that. Maybe I could help you with it ? "
She looked down slightly at her homework and sighed, seeing as she hadn't gotten anywhere with it at all. "That would be great actually," she mumbled, just loud enough to be heard. Logan moved some of her papers closer to herself so that there was more room for the other student to sit.

"My name is Logan by the way," she muttered as she looked down at her paper again. She didn't really understand most of her homework. Gently she shifted some of her hair behind her ear nervously, afraid that she was going to make herself look stupid in front of another student.

Logan flipped through her book a little bit until she thought she found a page on imps, except it wasn't the information she needed. "What do imps look like?" Logan questioned softly as she looked at the boy sitting beside her. She couldn't find any of the information and was thinking she would just skip the homework and get in trouble rather than finish the homework.

Before the Hufflepuff even spoke again she glanced up quickly. "Oh how rude of me, I didn't ask your name?" she spoke quickly. Afraid that she had seemed rude for not having asked the boy's name.

"My name is Logan by the way,"
Kristen tried to commit her name to memory, as he considered it the height of rudeness to forget someone's name, and he certainly didnt want to be rude.
"What do imps look like?"
Kristen paused for a moment, trying to remember how imps were described in his text book. He had just opened his mouth to answer, but Logan had spoken again.
"Oh how rude of me, I didn't ask your name?"
"Oh, its fine, that wasn't rude." Kristen said. He did actually believe that it was rude, but Logan had been quite apologetic about it, so he didn't mind. "My name's Kristen but, uh... call me Chris. He said. He wasn't exactly fond of his name.
"Imps are similar to pixies..." He paused for a minute, trying to think of more.
"Hang on, I've got the book in my bag." He said. He quickly began to search through his bag which he had set down beside himself. After a moment, he pulled out 'Fantastic beasts and where to find them'. "I got this from the library. It's got a way more information than our DADA text books." he explained. "ah, here we are." Kristen said as he flicked to the page on Imps.
"The Imp is found only in Britain and Ireland. It is sometimes confused with the Pixie. They are of similar height (between six and eight inches), though the imp cannot fly as the pixie can, nor is it vividly coloured (the imp is usually dark brown or black). It does, however, have a similar slapstick sense of humour. It's preferred terrain is damp and marshy, and can often be found near riverbanks, where it will amuse itself by tripping the unwary. Imps eat small insects and have breeding habits similar to fairies, however they do not spin cocoons; they hatch fully formed at around one inch in length." he read.
He looked back up to Logan. "Is that all you needed to know?"

OOC: hey, would you mind telling me what colour code you use for when Logan is speaking? Also, fun fact, I actually used Fantastic beasts and where to find them to complete the DADA homework.

Logan smiled and made sure to remember his name. As she listened to him she shifted her hair behind her ear again before starting to scribble down an answer for the question on her paper. She looked at the other questions.
"Is that all you needed to know?"
The Hufflepuff blushed slightly as she looked at the other questions. "Umm...how do you cast Periculum?" she rubbed the back of her neck as she looked away from the boy, afraid that he would make fun of her for not being able to cast a simple spell like that, but she had trouble with spells and she knew it.

"I promise that I pay attention in class," she muttered embarrassed, "I just can never remember spells." Logan could already hear her father complaining about her not having good grades in DADA. She had studied and studied but wasn't able to remember most of what she had studied.

"I am sorry about you bothering you, you didn't have to help me with homework." She looked at Chris with a soft smile on her face. "But thank you anyways." Logan didn't want to seem like someone who didn't appreciate the help, she was just embarrassed that she needed this much help.

"Umm...how do you cast Periculum?"
"I promise that I pay attention in class, I just can never remember spells."
"Yeah, in my experience spells are pretty hard to get." Kristen said with a grimmace. He had spent hours in his dorm practicing the different sparks charms. He remembered vividly how he had nearly blinded himself the first time that he had Periculum. "It doesn't matter how much I listen in class; There's something else that needs to click. I find it's quite like riding a bike. It doesnt matter if you know exactly how every single part of the bike works; You're still going to struggle if you've never ridden before. he said. "I'm no expert though."
"I am sorry about you bothering you, you didn't have to help me with homework. But thank you anyways."
"Oh, It's fine, it's no bother." he said, waving his hand dismissively. "Everyone needs help sometimes. I actually came over to you to ask for directions to the charm's classroom. I'm having a bit of trouble finding my way round the school." he said, smiling coyly.
He cleared his throat.
"As for periculum all you really have to do is point your wand up and... well.. that's it." He explained. "It's probably easier if i just show you." He said, pulling out his wand. "Oh, and make sure to cover your eyes. it really is quite bright." He added. He pointed his wand above them. "Periculum!"
A shower of red sparks exploded from the tip of his wand, flying several feet in the air, before falling down around Kristen and Logan.

Logan smiled softly at the thought of riding a bike. She had never done that before, but she had seen muggle children riding their bikes around town when she was actually allowed out of the house.

"Oh, I know where the Charms classroom is." the Hufflepuff stated simply as she remembered going to the classroom often for help. She remembered it only being a little away from the hospital wing on the third floor.
It's probably easier if i just show you."
"Oh, and make sure to cover your eyes. it really is quite bright."
Logan looked at Chris and quickly covered her eyes as he cast the spell. She wasn't expecting it to be that bright, but when she uncovered her eyes she giggled at the sight off the red sparks falling down around the two students.

"I think I can do that." she stated with a smile on her face as she picked up her wand that lay beside her. Carefully she pointed her wand up and muttered the spell, "Periculum."

Nothing happened.

Logan groaned and lay her face down on her book. "Or not," she muttered. This was one of the simplest spells she had learned so far and she wasn't able to get it right. It always took her a bit to get the other spells but this one was simple, so she was hoping that she would be able to get it on the first try for once. "I am going to fail." the Hufflepuff muttered as she turned her head to looked at Chris, her chocolate brown hair falling over her face like a shield.

"I think I can do that."
Kristen flicked his wand, causing the sparks from his wand to dissapear so Logan could try the spell.
"Yeah, give it a go!" He laughed. "I believe in you!" he added, smiling.
He covered his eyes as Logan attempted to cast it. Unfortunately for her, nothing happened.
"I am going to fail."
"Hey, Logan, you're not going to fail." He said, brushing her hair away from her face with his hand. "You shouldn't be discouraged just because you can't cast a spell on the first try." He said, trying his best to be supportive. "It took me days before I managed to cast it for the first time. Granted, it just took that long because im stupid." He said, laughing in spite of himself. "I doubt that anyone could cast a new spell on their first try. Besides, it's early in the year. You'll get better with time." Kristen told her.
"With a little bit more practice, I'm sure you'll get it."
"Here, I've an idea." he said, picking his own wand up again. "We'll cast it together, on the count of three. Chin up, shoulders back, lets see what we're made of, you and I." He said, quite proud of his reference, smiling hopefully.

Logan sighed and shook her head, "I really don't think that you are stupid," she muttered after Kristen had talked about being stupid.
"We'll cast it together, on the count of three. Chin up, shoulders back, lets see what we're made of, you and I."
"Okay, but I probably still won't get it." she muttered as she sat up slightly, although not as straight and proper as she would have if she was riding her horses. She gulped slightly as she moved her hair to behind her ear again and pointed her wand out. "One.." she muttered her voice quiet, "two...three..." She took a deep breath at three "Periculum."

This time something actually happened.

Little sparks shot out of the end of her wand, not as much as Kristen's but still, something happened. A smile formed onto Logan's face as she giggled a little at the sight of the little sparks floating to the ground.

"Not perfect, but I got something," she stated, the smile still on her face as she turned and looked at the male beside her. "Thank you for the help, really," she told him, her eyes twinkling. Logan knew that she was going to have to work harder to be able to perfect the spell and that her father was not going to be the happiest with her.

"I really don't think that you are stupid,"
Come on, of course you will." he told her, genuinely meaning what he said.
Kristen counted along with Logan. "One. . . two . . . Three! Periculum!"
"Periculum."
Kristen smiled as he saw a few sparks fly out of Logan's wand. "Yeah, you're getting it!" he said, putting down his own wand, so only Logan's sparks were left in the air. He watched as they fell down, like tiny, red, glowing snowflakes. "Well done!"
"Not perfect, but I got something,"
"No, no, You did really well! That's far more than i got on my second try. Infact, I didn't get it at all." He said, once again remembering his long night of study just so he could cast this one spell.
"Not perfect, but I got something,"
Kristen shook his head dismissively. "Logan, don't worry, it really isn't any trouble." He said, smiling at her.
"I just happened to be here, and all you needed was a bit of help to do your homework. It's fine, really."
"And, uh," kristen began. He was quite embarrassed about what he was going to ask, as in his opinion it made him sound like an idiot. "I mentioned what I needed help with earlier... I don't suppose you know what way the charm's classroom is?"
