It was an overcast day, clouds casting large shadows over the grounds. It was enough to keep Misty away from the great lake and instead wandering the castle. She had ended her meandering in the library, where she now gazed outside through the many windows. She felt restless and wished she could just get up and start jumping around, though she doubted the Librarian would appreciate that very much. Instead she started softly humming, and made her way to some shelves of books. She walked through the section on divination, wondering what classes she would choose to take in her third year. She hadn't thought about it at all before arriving but now that she was at Hogwarts, third year didn't seem so far away anymore. As childish as it was, Misty wasn't keen to take another class that involved a high tower. She wasn't afraid of falling, heights just made her feel nauseous. She was certain she would take care of magical creatures, after all, who wouldn't want another class that let her be outside instead of in a stuffy classroom. She was still thinking when she caught a glimpse of someone familiar. It was Summer, another first year. Summer had been kind and friendly when they had made notes for Professor Jensen. Summer's back was to her, so Misty couldn't tell what she was doing. Realizing she was staring, Misty began to approach her. She tried to make her movements load so as not to startle her. Once she reached the table, she stood in front of a seat, not sitting yet, and said, "Hi Summer. We haven't really gotten to talk much yet. How have you been doing? Of course, unless you're busy doing something..." Misty began to withdraw, losing her courage.

It was a rather ugly day out, but Summer didnโ€™t mind too much. Ugly days were the best days to relax with a fun indoor activity. After grabbing a quick bite to eat, Summer had headed down to the library, her bag full of drawing supplies, to be read books, and - of course - snacks. After she found a cozy table in the quietest part of the library, Summer took out her drawing supplies and began to sketch. She attempted to draw an open book, but grew frustrated with it after a while. She stuffed the drawing back in her back and decided to catch up on reading instead. She lost herself in magical worlds where anything could happen. Of course, when she chose to come back to reality she would still be in a magical world, but there was something way cooler about the worlds in books. She sat there for a couple hours, totally at ease and in a wonderful mood. Someone spoke and Summer jumped a foot in the air. It was Misty. Misty was a quiet girl who seemed rather nice when Summer had met her. โ€œHi Summer. We havenโ€™t really gotten to talk much yet. How have you been doing? Of course, unless your busy doing something...โ€ Summer smiled and closed her book. โ€œHey Misty! Iโ€™m not busy, just catching up on some reading. Have a seat if you want,โ€ she said, patting the seat next to her.

Grateful, Misty took the seat offered to her. Summer's claim to be just catching up on books seemed to be an understatement to Misty. There seemed to be quite a few books in her bag. Misty couldn't imagine being able to move through different books for hours on end. Reading for her consisted of spending half the time reading, and half the time staring off in the distance or shifting in her chair, while a book lay open in front of her. She smiled back at Summer, feeling far less stress than she had during other interactions. She still didn't know what to say. She felt rather foolish. Weren't Slytherins supposed to be clever in conversation? If so, why couldn't she seem to start a conversation without folding in on herself. Misty knew almost nothing about Summer. Would she be offended by the concept of things from the muggle world? Her parents had gotten her invested in the arts of the muggle world, as entertainment and art seemed to be something that, at least in her opinion, could rival that of the wizarding world. If only she could talk about books! But Misty knew opening a discussion about that would quickly reveal her lack of knowledge. Summer also didn't seem like the outdoors type. Misty grasped for something to say,
"So, have you been up to anything interesting. I've just been wandering around lately. Do you like any musicals?" She blurted this last part out. She was slightly embarrassed by her love of theatre. It was something people usually wouldn't guess about her and she liked to keep it that way. Being in a muggle school, it was easier to keep teachers away from her personal life when they thought she was just an unintelligent, hyperactive, disruptive child who certainly had no interest in the arts. Perhaps at Hogwarts, she could show more of her true self.
