Persevere, Little Olive Tree
Monday | September 1, 2019 | Late Morning
The little girl closed her eyes. At first, it was as if she's submerged in darkness. The only thing she can feel is the metal bar that she's clinging onto dear life for. Then, a bright light pierced her eyes, making her open them. At a glance, it looked like they were still at King's Cross. But then another cart from a young child whizzed past her. It's similar to hers, but his had a caged owl perched on top of it. She beamed, looking behind to see her mother passing through the metal wall. "HAH! Well..." Her mother exclaimed, clapping her hands clean. She was a short but still sprightly woman, even if she's reaching a mature age. She placed her hands on her waist, her flared bob cut red hair showing the excited expression on her freckled face. "This certainly takes me back..." The mother then looked down at the little girl. "Breana, sweetie, you got everything you need right? Are you sure you can bring your muggle books...?" Breana was about to open her mouth when her father finally passing through the wall into the platform. Her mother quickly turned her attention to her husband, making sure he wasn't too disoriented from the passing.
"I'm fine, I'm fine, Eugenia!!" The father laughed, finally getting his bearings as he adjusts his glasses. He was a bit of a lanky man, standing taller than his wife by a head. He has a darker complexion than Breana, and his dark brown hair is coiled, and kept together by dreads and a bun. "Just passed through a solid metal wall, is all." He joked, looking around in awe at the place. Eugenia rolled her eyes at her husband's playful demeanor.
"William, please." She turned around to look back at her daughter. "Now, let me take a good look at you, my dear..." She said, cupping her hands around Breana's freckled face. Breana's skin is right in the middle of her parents' skin tone, being light brown but still sporting freckles similar to her mother's. Her mother gently brushed her very curly brown hair back to get a good look at Breana's face, her blue-ish brown eyes beaming with excitement. Eugenia couldn't help but hug her little girl tightly, with William standing on the sidelines and giving the special women in his life some space. "My little Breezy Baby... off to learn in my alma mater..." Eugenia sniffed, pulled away to look at Breana.
"M-mom, please...! You're gonna make me cry too!" Breana laughed, wiping a tear away. "I'll be back by Christmas break anyways!" Eugenia sighed, nodding.
"I know, I know, but still..." She gave Breana one last tight squeeze before puling away for William's turn to talk to their daughter.
"Now, Breana..." William started, clearing his throat as he felt his glasses starting to fog up with tears as well. "I don't know much about this magic stuff, but I do know what you are." He said, lightly touching Breana's nose and giving it a small boop. "You're an Oliveire... Do you know what that means, sweetie?"
"Erm... that there'd be some bias against me 'cause I have a Portuguese last name...?" William laughed at his daughter's answer.
"Well, not quite, but that could be true in some respects." He then points at his temple. "The Oliveire last name means perseverance, hardiness--"
"Like the Hardy Boys?!" Breana chimed.
"Haha, yeah, I guess the Hardy Boys can count..." He then placed his finger on Breana's little forehead. "You're an Oliveire, Breana. I know you got something in you. Something that can make you tough, and persevere. You got your mother's spunk, kiddo."
Breana laughed at his choice of words, nodding as she takes them in. "Okay... thanks, Dad!" Then the sound of the conductor bellows the station.
"All aboaaaaaaard! Train leaves at 11 o'clock!" They shouted. With that, Breana gives her parents one last group hug.
"Gotta go now... Wish me luck!" She said, grabbing her cart full of her luggage, taking them to the train.
"Take notes in class, sweetie! Oh, don't spend all of your galleons on chocolate frogs!" Eugenia shouted at her daughter as she boarded the train. "Don't forget to write to us, sweetie! Use the Owlery!!" With one last advice, Breana was inside the train, now standing up on her own, unsure of what will lie in her adventures in Hogwarts.
