Off to a Rocky Start
Shae sat in the library, working on her homework. She bit her lip and shut her notes and books. Standing up, she decided to take a break and do some reading for fun. She figured it would help her relax and be able to go back to focusing on her homework. Sometimes she struggled with concentration and procrastination. Mostly she just couldn't work too long at once. Today she just needed to relax. She wasn't in a studying mood. It was just that kind of day: snowy and grim and dull. She wanted to do something fun to make the day more fun, but she also had work to do. Her thoughts wandered, just as she wandered past the shelves, her eyes scanning the books in front of her.
This one? No. That one? Eh. Maybe this one!
Nothing seemed to stand out and nothing made her want to read. She wanted to find something, but she often got picky about what she read. Her interests were very defined. She stopped in front of a shelf, not noticing the people around her. Her gaze was drawn upward. That book seemed interesting and just her type. It was on a shelf just above her head and she started to reach up for it.

The brunette was bored. This was uncommon, seeing as she found interest in every activity and was always in deep thought if not working. Though anytime the first year tried to think about something, her thoughts would drift right back to how bored she was. It irked Brionna how she was unable to keep her thoughts in line today. She usually was so well kept- but now her mind was simply done for the day. After setting her book down and glancing her surroundings, Brionna decided she could simply search for a book to read for fun. She wasn't to familiar with wizard books, seeing as her muggle-wizard mixed family was more muggle oriented.
Brionna recalled two Slytherin's she heard talking the day before about a book everyone has read. "The Beetle and the Bard," they said. Brionna, in the midst of her bored, and slightly agitated state, decided to look for the book among the shelves. She paid no heed to the other people in the library seeing as see would only become anxious if she noticed them for to long. The Ravenclaw scanned the shelves lined with possible cures for her troubled mind. She finally saw the book, on a higher shelf of course she nagged in her head and reached up to grab it.
Although Brionna's hand never reached the book as she was bumped into causing her hand and shoulder to softly hit the person on her other side. It wasn't enough force to knock herself or the other person to the ground, but it did unbalance both. Brionna glanced at the other person, she now identified as a female, fellow Ravenclaw, and first year based on appearance. She also quickly realized why their hands had bumped, seeing as the girl had been reaching for the exact same book. Brionna ears and cheeks already flushing slightly from the situation.
Should she apologize? Obviously- but how did she start? Should she grab the book and offer it to her in the form of an apology? Maybe she'd be less upset if Brionna just gave her the book and disappeared? Nodding to herself, Brionna reached up, grabbed the book and turned to the other girl.
"Apologies for bumping into you, are you alright?" she asked, though her tone was slightly agitated from not finding who bumped her.

Shae jumped when their hands bumped and jumped to the side. She looked around at the row and the people in it. She saw the other Ravenclaw girl who had bumped into her and a few other people. For a moment, she stood there, just trying to figure out what had happened. She guessed that the other girl had been reaching to grab the same book when she bumped into Shae. Whether it was an accident or on purpose, Shae didn't know and for the moment, she didn't care.
When she realized that the other girl was talking to her, Shae's gaze slowly went to her and the book. A bit panicked and nervous, mostly because there were quite a few people and she didn't want to be around so many people, Shae seemed agitated. She wasn't really bothered, but she definitely came off as though she was. "Yeah. It's okay. I'm fine. Take the book." She wasn't upset at the girl, but because of a bunch happening at once, Shae needed to not be in that area. She just needed to clear her head. She nodded at the other girl and started to walk off. She definitely seemed upset at the other girl.

Brionna stood rigid awaiting the girls response to her apology.
When the other Ravenclaw finally did respond, she did so in an agitated tone, which Brionna shrugged off, because she was right to be upset for being bumped into. "Yeah. It's okay. I'm fine. Take the book." Though Brionna was slightly panicked whenever the girl started walking away. Now Brionna was slightly confused and upset at the girls departure. Seeing as Brionna did this often- leave during a conversation- she took this as a taste of her own medicine. Though it did nothing to take out the irritation of not wanting the book in the end.
Did the girl think she knocked her on purpose to get the book first? Or did she leave because of the... crowd... Suddenly noting the amount of people in the Library, Brionna began to feel overwhelmed and quickly followed the girl to an clear isle with no people. Still clutching the book in hand, Brionna called after the girl, though quietly as not to attract unwanted attention.
"Excuse me!" Brionna said, her irritation at the girls lack of notice leaking into her voice. "I don't want the book- you can take it- can you just stop for a second?" Brionna's voice came out exasperate at this point. She simply wished to give the girl the book, why was this so hard? Why when she tried to interact with people her age, she failed so miserably?

Shae walked away, desperate to get out of the crowd. She heard the other girl call to her, "Excuse me!" Shae turned, rather abruptly. "Yeah?" Her voice was heavy with the stress and frustration she felt. When she realized the girl was offering her the book, she grabbed it without thinking, but left her arm outstretched. "Thanks, but I don't really need it. I just was looking for something to distract me from homework for a while. Right now, though, I just want to leave this library." She spoke quickly as she held the book out to the girl. "Seriously, I just want to get my stuff and leave. You can have the book. I'm not upset and I'm sorry if I seem rude, but that's not how I'm trying to be." Shae looked down, focusing on her breathing. "I just need to leave." Her eyes were closed and she just stood there hoping the other girl would just take the book and she could leave. "Just please. I just can't stay here." She opened her eyes and looked up at the girl. Her face showed her every emotion: stress, frustration, anger, and pleading. She sighed. "Nevermind." She took the book and walked away, realizing she was wasting her time.

Brionna didn't know what to do.
Brionna doesn't like not knowing. Not knowing means you are not enough. It means somewhere along the line, something went wrong, and you didn't account for it in your calculations, even the backup ones. Now of course there were some startling facts that the first year did now know.
The girl doesn't like crowds, similarly to Brionna. Though unlike Brionna, the girl had set her focus on the sheer amount of the crowd and was sent into panic. Brionna knew from experience that the girl felt overwhelmed and uncomfortable. Then when the girl turned, face full of battling emotions, Brionna went empathetic. Though the girl wasn't seeing her, not really anyways.
"Yeah?" The still un-named girl girl asked, voice full of stress and frustration. Brionna extended her arm with the book, offering not just the return of the item, but something for the girl to hold onto, to perhaps root herself in her moment of panic. The other Ravenclaw didn't see it as such. "Thanks, but I don't really need it. I just was looking for something to distract me from homework for a while. Right now, though, I just want to leave this library." The girl glanced around her nervously. "Seriously, I just want to get my stuff and leave. You can have the book. I'm not upset and I'm sorry if I seem rude, but that's not how I'm trying to be." The girl looked down for a moment, Brionna assumed she was focusing on her breathing or finding a calming sound. "I just need to leave." Brionna knew what the girl meant. "Just please. I just can't stay here." Finally the girl opened her eyes and looked at Brionna.
It felt like a semi-truck of emotions was forced down Brionna's throat, as she could see everything the girl was going through. Stress, frustration, anger, pleading, and above all, genuine hopelessness.
Brionna needed to help her get out.
Ignoring the girl as she sighed, saying a quick, "Nevermind," Brionna went to were she assumed the girl's belongings were. Seeing as the girl said she just wanted her stuff and to leave, vs just wanting to leave, Brionna knew she set her items somewhere. Then when the girl tried to walk off, she walked in the direction of a lone corner table, that seemed to have one bag, an abandoned closed book, and a stack of homework laying nearby. The girl was still walking towards these items, but slowly. Brionna felt if she carried the items out for the girl, it would move the escape plan along at least 3 steps.
Brionna, still nervous about the idea of touching other peoples items, walked past the panicked girl quickly. She scooped up the items and made a beeline for the door, though not running in respect of their space. Brionna was fast, that she knew. She wasn't strong by any means, but she could outrun almost anyone she knew. This came from years of chasing her little brothers and their runaway toys, not to mention her love for the muggle sport, football (American Soccer). Brionna didn't look behind her, but she knew the items belonged to the girl. She now had a faint memory of walking in and seeing the girl at that table, further confirming her logic. Once Brionna reached a non-populated area outside the Library, she simply dumped the girls items in a neat pile, making it very hard to miss. She even stuck a sticky-note on top that simply said, "Apologies." Before she walked away.
