Hide and Seek Finished

The portraits of Hogwart's influential wizards and witches pass you on either side as you stroll down the Small Hall. A sizable fire burns in a wide hearth of red stones. The flickering flames light your way to the end of this dim passageway. An ancient wooden chandelier of impressive craftsmanship hangs from the ceiling, it's candles are dark and cold. The usual commotion from the Great Hall grows louder as you near the end of the hall. The aroma of a freshly prepared banquet fills you with hunger for the meal to come.

As you reach the hall's terminus, you notice how the heat from the burning wood feels on your face. To your right, towers a gigantic pair of wooden alder doors which are now standing in the way of you and delicious morsels. Before you join the feast, you notice something new. A piece of parchment with scribbles of ink is taped on the doorway. You approach the note and read the following:
PLAYERS WANTED!
Come join a game of hide and seek!
Sign your name below if you wish to play
Players, please meet here this Saturday at noon
Rules will be explained then
We hope to see you there!
Reducio
The game will begin Saturday, February 22 at 11:59am EST. All players who have signed up by posting in this thread will be included. If you wish to be the Seeker, please state that desire. The Seeker will be chosen at random from those who want it. On Saturday, I will post who was chosen to be the Seeker. After that post, you may begin hiding.

Rules: You can hide anywhere in Hogwarts that is accessible to any first year. So no house restricted areas, no gender restricted areas, no age restricted areas, no areas outside of Hogwarts (the Grounds are considered to be a part of Hogwarts, so areas like the Lake are considered fair game. Areas like Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley are not considered to be a part of Hogwarts), and no areas that require special access. Please do not cheat by looking on people's profiles to see where they have been posting.

Your character hides by entering into an already established open thread or a new thread. Players must specifically describe their character as hiding. You must enter a thread between Saturday February 22 11:59am EST and Thursday February 27 11:59am EST. This gives the Seeker at least 48 hours to find people who hide last minute. Once in a spot, that is your spot. No jumping to different threads to avoid the Seeker. The Seeker has one week, until February 29 11:59am EST to find each player by posting in the thread the hider is in. The Seeker may copy and paste the same generic "I found you!" post, but please make sure to include the name of the person you just found in that post.

If you can stay hidden, you'll get a small reward, one chocolate frog! If you can find everybody before time is up, you'll get 10 chocolate frogs! If someone wants to help contribute, we can make the rewards even bigger.

If you guys like the game, we can open it up to more players and start a new round. Have fun!

Opeila almost walked past that note when she entered the small hall. It was only because of the person behind her, that she went back. The little girl had chuckled and shaken her head and then quickly put her name down. Now Opeila was curious. She slowly walked over and read the note. Hide and seek? Oh, she had always loved that game, at least before her first magical accident had happened. She had turned the bush, she had been hiding in, to stone, causing the seeker to cut his hands open, when he tried to quickly push the leafs aside to scare her.
The Slytherin wasn't sure, if she should. What if it happened again? But then, Hogwarts' events, that were planned by teachers, already seemed to usually end in a big desaster, when the rumours about the masquerade ball were true. The Valentine's Party was something, she had still in mind.
So how bad could a hide and seek game get, that was organized by children? Probably harmless. And she should at least try and get over that sort of trauma her last hide and seek game gave her. She had been nine years old. Or eight years? Maybe it was seven- She didn't even know it anymore.
Opeila got her quill out of her bag and put down her name.

OOC: I'm in! Cool idea!

Kara was leaving after a long day of studying in the library to finally eat dinner. A sweet scent flowed around her as she walked towards the Great Hall. She sighed, knowing that tonight was going to be a good night. It smelled of roast pork and shepherd's pie to Kara's delight. She picked up her pace and then almost started running to the Great Hall, which had much noise coming from it.
Kara knew that people talked a lot in the Great Hall, but never this loud. Kara wondered what was going on when she then smelled burning wood. Kara didn't know what was burning but she didn't know how to stop it, so she ignored it.
Before she pushed open the doors to the Great Hall, she noticed a sign that had something written on it. She thought it was something important, so she walked over to it and read it.
"Hide and Seek? I haven't played that game in forever, but I do love it." Kara thought to herself.
She looked at the sign-up sheet and saw that only one girl named Opelia was signed up so far.
Kara thought to herself, whenever she was seeker in her childhood, she won, for she knew how to look for clues and that lead to the hider.
She took a quill out of her messy bag and wrote on the sign-up sheet

OOC: This is going to be fun either way! Great idea Jorah!

Lately Willow hadn't been spending her meals in the Great Hall, which was quite a shame because the food and company always seemed like it would be nice. She would usually grab food and eat really quickly before heading to her room or the library to study. She felt like she had a lot to catch up on. As she was leaving the Great Hall she saw a new piece of paper, with a couple of names on it. She almost completely walked past it before back tracking back and reading it. She got bumped a couple times as people were coming in and out of the Great Hall, "Super inconvenient place for a flyer... But hide and seek? She was delighted by this idea, especially in such a huge castle. Plus she was tiny, so she could fit into all the nooks and crannies of the castle. She could already think of over ten places that she could hide. She searched for her quill in her bag, panicking for a second when she couldn't find it but realized she put it in a different pocket today. She laughed to herself, "Silly Willow." She neatly wrote her name under the other's before moving on to head to the library.

It had been a long day of classes. Long and weary and more than a little worrisome. In light of the various research endeavors — from laced candies, to past Hogwarts events; from horrible hags to dangerous dhampir — Evelynn had gotten a little bit behind on her actual homework. Just a little bit. This week, however, she had endeavored to make up for it. To buckle down, get her quidditch practicing done and at least a good dent into her homework assignments before the weekend. Plus she'd gotten her application in for the school paper. Not that she exactly needed more things to keep her occupied, but she couldn't really think of any better way to try to get the down-low on the various events around the school, make connections and collect evidence that otherwise might have been closed to her.

Needless-to-say, with all of this business (for she hardly had a moment's respite for herself), she was starving. In fact, she hadn't even set foot upon the floor of the entrance hall from the marble staircase before saliva already moistened her lips at the thought of the spread of food that awaited her in mere minutes. With long swaying strides, she eagerly crossed the ground floor. She was just about to push her way into a glutton's Eden when something caught her eye. It was a notice. Odd. There weren't generally notices posted on the doorway to the Great Hall. In fact, she couldn't recall a time that ever there had been. That was what the House's bulletins were for, and barring those, the bulletin board in the entrance hall.

Inclining her head curiously, she shuffled a step or two towards it to get a better look, then cocked a brow. Players wanted? For a game of hide and seek around the castle? Well, that certainly seemed childish (not that she was really one to speak given her S.W.A.G involvement. Even still, she could at least rationalize those as practical experience for defensive and offensive spell casting, and in-the-moment strategic thinking. This, however, this was a muggle game. Little more, as far as she could tell, than just fun and games. Although...she supposed she could rationalize this as practice evading capture; or on the flip-side, practice with noticing that which attempted to evade it.

Plus...she couldn't deny the warm feeling that washed over her at the idea. She hadn't played hide and seek since childhood. Since back before she had crossed the big pond. All part of turning over a new leaf, right? she reasoned with herself. What harm could come of a little game of hide and seek? Very well, she decided. She would find the time in her schedule for a little reprieve. Perhaps they would even let her be the seeker. That was, after all, her position on the Gryffindor team.

Janet trudged back up the stairs on her way to the common room after a particularly large meal. She regretted it now but at the time it seemed a perfectly logical idea to accept her friend's bet. After all what harm could it really cause to eat fifteen marshmallows all at once? Well, at least she had the sickle... She was interrupted from her thoughts by a giggle behind her, she swung round and saw a girl signing her name on a piece of parchment. Immediately curious she turned around and examined the parchment. Hide and seek! What a wonderful idea Janet always loved games of that sort! She was immediately swept into daydreams of what it was like back in her childhood, when it was a matter of life and death and to save your life you had to remain hidden for all that time, she missed the good old days when people found it fun to be squashed into a broom closet with your best friend, nearly suffocating and yet having the time of your life consulting each other in whispered voices and breaking down into giggles only to receive angry "ssssshhhh!!"s from the people sharing your hiding place. Janet was excited for hide and seek, especially in a massive castle like this with endless possibilities of hiding places.

Hazel was in an unusually jolly mood that evening as she moved towards the great hall; her transfigurations class had gone uncharacteristically well. She'd done the homework correctly - as she was finally learning to write in the way the professors wanted her to - and she'd answered several in-class questions correctly. Not to mention the students in the class had started to get comfortable with each other, throwing quips across the room in good nature and what have you. It was well past the beginning of the school year, and Hazel was happily settling in. After all, these would be the people she would sit with for the next six or seven years.

It wasn't odd to spot Hazel with some form of parchment and ink, whether it be for homework or drawing. This point in time wasn't any different: her satchel hung cross-way over her body, rolls of parchment sticking out the top and her quills tucked into the side. She wanted to draw out something she'd seen in herbology that morning, as she was only just now getting the time to jot it down. So she'd decided to cross dinner with hobby, because the great hall was a nice, warm place to be. The tables and benches were smooth and worn, the fireplace massive and warming the whole room while the floating candles above dripped wax to an invisible surface.

As she was about to push her way into the hall for dinner, she noticed a couple students stopping by a piece of parchment tacked to the wall. Hazel waited, rather impatiently, for the other students to move away from the parchment so she could read it. Stepping up and leaning in, Hazel raised her brow. Hide and seek? A young game, but endlessly exciting in a big place like the castle. So she plucked a quill from her bag and jotted down her name, making a mental note about the start time of the game. From there, she carried on into the great hall, a bounce in her step.

Brionna's mind was so all over the place, she nearly missed the paper on the wall.

It wasn't particularly flashy or eye-catching, simply, it was new and Brionna was sure it hadn't been there when she passed before. A quick glance left and right showed that passing students showed little interest in the paper, which confused Brionna slightly, but she shrugged it off. After scanning the paper to understand it's contents, the brunette immediately understood- and she loved the idea of the challenge.

The typically calm and laid back Ravenclaw was surprisingly competitive in these types of things, something that startled many when they envision the typically quite girl. Brionna decided to read the list of other's who had signed up, and quickly noted that Willow, a Hufflepuff who Brionna had met in the Great Hall one day, had signed up. Brionna was vaguely familiar with a few of the other names, though no other's stuck out. Not believing her eyes, the brunette scanned the list of names once more before confirming her suspicions.

The game, though started by a Ravenclaw, has no actual Ravenclaw pride in itself! Brionna knew at that moment, she would be sighing up, because her competitive spirit would not let her house be the only one not in the game. With a flourish of her hand, Brionna signed her name on the list, and after some contemplation, decided to not be a seeker and to hide instead. Nodding at the list, as if to confirm the dates to herself, she turned and walked away, remembering her initial hurry to get to class.

[font=Segoe Print]The sound of lone footsteps echoed across the expanses of the Small Hall as Rafael made his way to the Feast. There was a draft in the air, a chilly sort of breeze blowing in from somewhere or other, sending the first year into a fit of chills and only worsening his already irritable mood. After all, the day had been long and harrowing, chock-full of schoolwork, objective thinking, and tiresome people. Quite frankly, the young Quidditch Captain found that his mood had been long since spoiled, as his demeanor clearly showed – his chin was jutted out, his eyes sharp and an ominous scowl brazen among his features as he trudged through the small room. He was certainly in one of his moods, as dangerous and worrying as they were.

Though his mind was tired, his curiosity wasn’t. The boy allowed his eyes wander for a moment, taking in the sights of the quaint room, searching for a change, any change in the scenery. It seemed as if nothing had been changed, as disheartening as it was to imagine – the boy allowed a sigh to escape his chest, long and grating, clearly expressing his aggravation on the matter. Except, perhaps his concessions had been too soon. It seemed as if he had missed a small detail, one his eyes quickly caught on second glance. There was something new – in particular, a small poster plastered onto the doors of the Great Hall, rather bland in comparison to the mighty gates it was latched to.

Now, that’s definitely a sight, he thought wryly to himself, his aggravation fading in just the slightest, quickly replaced by his curious nature. He decided to investigate, his footsteps continuing towards the advertisement slowly, his eyes dancing across the words. What he found sent a feeling of quaint surprise through his being. Hide and Seek? he thought absently. To be honest, he wasn’t sure he’d ever pictured such a game being played among the students of Hogwarts, as all their games seemed foreign and magical. The sound of a simple muggle game brought back pleasant feeling, memories of his country coming back to him in a wave of emotion. The proposition certainly seemed interesting, in the least. A right proper break from schoolwork, if he’d ever seen one.

[On top of that, the boy certainly did hold an ounce of skill in the art of hiding. Though, perhaps his methods of learning hadn’t been the most admirable, as he found his skills being exercise in all the wrong moments.]

Seems fun, he reasoned. Why not give it a try? The more he thought about it, the more interesting the game seemed. Perhaps he would give the game a try, if not for the sake of it. What did he have to lose? At the mere thought of such words, the boy winced. He should have known better than to fantasize the worst case scenarios. Those had been the very thoughts in his head during his escapade with the SWAG Club, after all, and look how that had ended up. No, he wouldn’t give any more thought to such a notion. Anyways, his mind had been made – he would be in the Small Hall on Saturday. There was nothing, no person or commitment, that could do anything to stop him.

These were the thoughts reverberating through his mind as he wandered into the Great Hall.

Bastille was seriously wondering there were consequences to locking his younger sister in a cage in their basement until she was old enough to behave like a reasonable sibling and not a hag from hell; she was a bloody menace, she was, and he was frankly almost willing to face whatever punishment was rained down on him for taking such extreme measures to halt her reign of siblingly terror. Today she had continued her on-going tradition of being demented by sending him an owl rigged to explode glitter all over him, and he had yet to either figure out how she'd managed it or fully remove all of the stray bits of shiny stars and other nonsensical shapes from his person. He'd already taken two showers, and there was still glitter in his hair. He kept finding random pieces stuck in obscure places of his robes (and in fact there was currently a star stuck to the underside of his jaw that he'd missed).

Hellion. Little beast.

He was still regaling Versailles with silent insults and planning his revenge when he entered the Great Hall, and his distracted gaze passed briefly over his House's table. He spotted Eve settling in and made a note to track her down again to eat, but first his attention caught on Hazel loitering around a group off to the side.

"What's this, then?" he greeted her as he fell in step at her side, peering at the scrap of parchment that seemed to have everyone's attention. He watched in amusement as Hazel signed up and then, seeing no other reason not to since he was already there, signed his name below hers. Might as well.
