Sneaks and Snakes
February 14th, 2020
It was Valentine's day, a day of love. A day of sweets and treats and cards and crushes. A day of excitement and sore stomachs and... uncertainty? Sola could identify with the last one quite a bit. She'd come into the Great Hall that morning with a chocoball wrapped and hidden in her hand. She'd been careful to keep it from melting after she'd... obtained it. She admitted, she wasn't entirely proud of what she'd done, but it was cunning and clever, and she'd never felt more crafty since she came to Hogwarts. Hm, perhaps she really did belong in Slytherin.
She didn't really know where this crush of hers had come from. She had never really been "friends" with Nick Stewart, only acquaintances, which was pushing it. He was just so fascinating, though. He was from Scotland, she knew, and he was nearly impossible to understand sometimes. His mom was an Unspeakable, and he was a Seer. She'd heard of his occasional...episodes. Normally it just entailed zoning out or falling down and then acting shaken up. She always felt bad hearing about those. She used to have nightmares when she was younger, and if they were anything like those, she knew they were bad.
He didn't seem to have many friends, either, much like her. They both had birthdays in December, too, and parents in the Ministry. Perhaps it was just a schoolgirl crush, but being so similar certainly played a part. She'd tried to get him to notice her... but she was too shy to really talk to him. So, she'd just have to get him to make the first move. And the way was in her hand, wrapped in foil and stuffed with strawberry mousse and clotted cream.
She was quick to find a seat at the table, right across from the boy she was looking for. Between them sat a bowl of chocoballs that had been set up for the morning breakfast. The meal went as usual, and while they ate, Sola carefully unwrapped the chocoball in her lap. The moment she had smelled it when she first got it, she knew what it was: Amortentia, the love potion. To her, it smelled like cinnamon raisin toast, vanilla, and apple pie. All she needed to do was to get him to eat it, and make sure she was the first thing he saw. So, according to plan, after a little while and a few chocoballs, she said to him, her very first real words to him, more than "excuse me" or "hi" or "sorry".
"I'm stuffed," she said. "You can have this chocoball I haven't eaten." Luckily, most of the chocoballs had been taken from the bowl in front of them, so it was convenient to offer it to him. It all worked together perfectly.
@Caelan Stewart. I may have written a bit much.

Sneaks and Snakes
Nick's eyes gleamed as he gazed over the grand display before him. It was Valentine's Day and he finally was going to get a refill on his sweets. He hadn't had a sugary snack in what?... one, maybe two days. He had planned it all out so he could stop by his dorm between periods if he had to to drop off the sweets that he stuffed in his pockets throughout the day.
The Great Hall was lined with different sweets and pastries of all kind. Cauldron cakes to candy floss, salt water taffies to sugared almonds, popping pixie wing dust to peach rings. And of course, all things chocolate especially chocoballs. Chocoballs are his childhood sweet, he hadn't had one in a while but luckily there was a huge bowl full of them at the table.
There was the one chocoball he had but it was laced with lovey dovey juice so he couldn't eat it. Even if he could he lost it during one of his...episodes... He wondered what ever happened to that little chocoball. He shook that thought out of his head. Those episodes were bad memories and he wanted to enjoy this Valentine's Day feast.
Sitting down in a random spot in the Slytherin table he looked around. Per usual, a bunch of faces he recognized but couldn't quite put a name to because he didn't know them that well. He hadn't made many friends since this was such a new environment, but he was fine with that. It was nice to not have to deal with the drama of friends sometimes.
After indulging into too much sweets for a normal person to handle he let it all settle. He probably mde every single person around him think he's a pig. He locked eyes with the person across from him and realized she was talking to him. He noticed the uneaten chocoball in her hand which caught his attention.
Swallowing down a lemon sherbert he smiled, "Oh thanks! Chocoballs are my favorite." He grabbed the chocoball giving her a small smile. He breathed in the sweet smell of chocolate and cherry, but instead of that he smelled something fruity, campfire smoke, and parchment paper? It was weird but Nick wrote it off as maybe she had it in her cloak or something.
He realized that the interaction she had with the girl, her name was Sonya, or something like that. Eating it, Nick awkwardly looked at her as he ate it. As he ate it his pupils started dilating and he found more and more of an urge to look at her. Her name finally appeared his head; Sola, Sola Haze. She's in her DADA class, she sits behind him.
Nick finished the chocoball and his skin became paler than it normally is. There was this feeling in his gut. He hadn't felt it before, is this love? It didn't feel like it but he suddenly felt a strong gravitational pull towards Sola. "Sola, I think I like you. Do you want to hang out later or something?" Nick asked looking towards Sola in a doting way.
@Sola Haze I'm so sorry I took so long to respond. You're post was perfect
