Crystalized Rage
Coming back to Hogwarts had been her only saving grace since winter break happened staying with her French grandmother was a nightmare, and she would do anything to get out of it. Unfortunately, because her grandmother was the type of person to not speak about things after it was passed, Santario had not had the opportunity to grieve or process her emotions. Today was one of the days where it was starting to boil over, and she needed an outlet. This is what had her stalking across the frozen snowy grounds this evening. The heat of her breath coming out, in puffs contrasting the frigid air, and a light wind bringing a red flush across her face.
She would get herself close to the forbidden forest but not close enough that she would get in trouble just far enough from the castle that it would be hard to find her unless she had been spotted on her way there. She stopped at a tree and glared at it as if she could cut it down with her sharp sapphire eyes full of hatred. She carefully removed her fingerless gloves, dropping them to the ground and revealing her already scabbed knuckles. Looking down at her hands as she flexed them into fists. Images of that night flashed behind her eyes remembering how she couldn’t do anything. How she couldn’t protect them… How she couldn’t save them. Tears welled up in her eyes that wanted threatened to turn into ice crystals as they flowed down her cheeks. The edges of her vision seemed to dim as she screamed at the top of her lungs a fist flying and landing into the side of the tree. The bark biting into her more than her fist was biting into it, but it didn’t stop her. Again and again, her small fists fit the tree and not even the odd warmth trickling down her hands could pull her out of it.

@Santario MartinDale walked around the school often, mostly out of pure boredom, he always hoped he ran into one of his friends... one of his two friends, Lark or San, come to think of it, he hadn't seen San in a few months, he last saw her when she was hanging out with Kyle... that jerk, but he was still a bit glad that she had found more friends, and they seemed like they had a.. "thing" going on.
As Dale continued walking around, and what seemed to be a stroke of luck, Dale spotted out Santario, walking out of the castle, he contemplated calling out to her, but something seemed off, she seemed a bit upset. Instead, he decided to follow her, doing his best to keep a distance but still trying to not lose her, he was a bit worried they would end in the forbidden forest, she stopped at a tree, and Dale hit behind another tree, he was bit worried at what she was going to do, she removed her glove, and something that surprised him was when she let out a scream, and then with tears in her eyes, she punched the tree. Dale could see blood coming out of her knuckles before he even think, he jumped into action, "San! What are doing!" He said frantically, grabbing her hands, trying to stop her from punching the tree If she allowed him to exaim her knuckles, "We've gotta get you to the med wing." Dale looked into her eyes, something seemed a bit different... "Are you ok, did something happen?" Dale looked at her, trying to figure out what happened, and if that Kyle had anything to do with it.

She should have felt his presence before she felt his hands or heard his voice, but she was lost in her world of shaded greys ringed in red. Yet, here she was, looking down at his familiar brown hands grasping hers and pulling them up so that he could inspect them. Without her really realizing it, he quelled her rage. There was just something about him that always made her feel better no matter what… except for right now. Her rage was quelled, but she didn’t feel better. Tears continued to stream down her glassy sapphire eyes as she finally looked him in the face.
Normally she would immediately notice that her friend had become much more aesthetically pleasing than the last time that she saw him, which wouldn’t be out of the question since they didn’t get to talk a lot. However, right now was not a time where she could fully appreciate his photogenic features. “D-dale I-“ Her voice cracked as she cried. “They are never coming back.” She whispered, and it was as if a puppeteer cut the strings to his marionette as she fell to her knees, her hands still in his. Her head hung as she audibly sobbed as she had never done so before.
This was not a pretty cry or a calm sob that you so often saw in movies. No, this was an ugly sob that was composed of choked cries, tears, and snot. Even with Dale’s calming aura, it could only do so much to quell the storm that had been brewing in her heart, and it was like the fierce northern winds had broken out of the bottle that she had shoved them in.

@Santario MartinDale had no idea how to react, he had never been faced with anything like this before, his face was full of worry. Santario was crying while crouching on the ground and he had no idea how to make her feel better, she had said that they are never coming back, he crouched down to get eye level with her, trying to look into her eyes. "San, who's never coming back." He asked with his voice full of concern and worry. Santario was by far the strongest person he knew, whatever caused her to cry like this must've been terrible. Dale tried to muster up some words to try to make her feel better, things like "it'll are ok" and "things will get better soon" but he decided against it. Right now it seemed like Santario just needed a shoulder to cry over and an ear to listen to her, and Dale was more than happy to stay right next to his best friend. "I'm right here for you." Dale said as he wrapped her up in a hug, he would normally be against giving hugs, and he was pretty sure San didn't like hugs that much either, but right now, it seemed like exactly what she needed to let her know shes not alone.

She heard his question, but she couldn’t quite respond through the sobs. When he wrapped her in a hug she hugged him back tightly her fingers clutching his robes. She cried into his shoulder until she managed to get herself under a small amount of control. “My p-parents.” Santario’s grief shifted and her sobs slowly died down allowing her to pull away from Dale and wipe her face on the sleeves of her clothes. “They… They were murdered.” It came out almost as a whisper as a calm started to set over her. An emotionless mask even though tears still fell from her eyes and made their way down her cheeks.
It was her mind’s way of protecting herself. Shutting down until she could learn to process the emotions and pain that she felt. Being numb was certainly better than being a sobbing wreck. Though who knew when the 11-year old would break down again as it would seem that her emotions would no doubt come and go like the waves of a tsunami threatening at some days to drown her and others would be numb. “I couldn’t help them.” She finally looked at him again while wiping her cheeks. She was happy that it was him that found her if there was anyone that she had to be vulnerable around it would be him. He was a great friend like that and she knew this would stay between them.

@Santario MartinDale again had no idea how to respond, he assumed someone close to her family had just been hurt, car accident or something along those lines. But her parents had been murdered... he was a bit shocked at all of this. Santario said that there wasn't anything she could do to help them. Dale didn't know the entire story, but he was sure that the last thing her parents wanted from her was to try to risk her live trying to save them, "San don't beat yourself over that, there probably wasn't anything you could've done... and im sure the last things your parents would want is for you to also risk your life trying to save them." Dale was surprised he was able to get that all out without stuttering.
Dale was very curious to have exactly happened, but he was a bit scared to ask, the last thing he wanted her to do was to bring back those memories... but it may help her to talk about it, to try to get it all out of her system. "Do you wanna explain to me what happened? It might make you feel a little better if you talk about it..."

Dale was right, of course, he was right, Santario was just an emotional wreck, and it was hard not to beat herself up for it. Realistically, however, there really was nothing that she could have done to help them, She was an 11-year-old girl with only a handful of spells under her belt. There was no way that she would have been able to help fight of 3 grown adults who had been using unforgivable curses. She would have died alongside her parents.
“They were murdered.” She sniffled and rubbed her eyes more. “It’s a really long and complicated story. My family doesn’t even know that I know what happened, but I heard my father talking to a man one night. My father had a twin sister who was murdered over summer while they were 14. It was done by some upperclassman who dropped out and fled disappearing from the face of the earth basically. I think… I think they found out my father was helping Aurors try to find them.” Silent tears kept trying to run down her face, and she just kept rubbing them away as she stared blankly at her friend's left knee.
She tried to take deep breaths to help herself calm down, and Dale was helping her more than she knew. She had always been comfortable around him, and although she never had any siblings, she always thought that her friendship with Dale would be like what it felt to have a big brother. “They hid me… but I could still see them. I saw everything.” Her hands clenched into fists as the 11-year-old girl knew one day she would hunt them down if the Aurors did not get them first.
