Dale walked through the doors of the great hall, it was pretty full as usual, with a few people eating, some were playing board games, and others were studying. When Dale first arrived at the school he didn't understand why people went to the great hall of all places to study, it was loud and not a good place to try to keep your focus, but the more time he spent studying in the library the more he understood why studying in the library could be very boring, and the great hall was a nice change of senary.
Dale found a seat, pretty far away from the other students, and opened up his bag, he got out his books on DADA and started reading away, stopping to take a few notes in his notebook along the way. It had been a while since Dale had studied for DADA, but the class was getting harder and harder for him. DADA was Dale's hardest class this year, which wasn't saying much because he still managed to breeze through most of his classes, charms got much easier this year, thanks to his studies over the summer, and the help of a few of his friends.

May entered the Great Hall, bag on her shoulder. She looked around the Great Hall, and saw the Huffelpuff table, nearby. She sat in the closest seat, where, lots of girls were talking. She just ignored them, took out her Potions book, and begun to study. When the plates were filled, May couldn't contain herself, and looked at the Slyhterin table. She didn't want to be not-polite, for, she hated to be seen too. But sometimes, May liked to see other people, to see how they would react. Here, at Hogwarts, May liked to see the Slyhterin table, for, it was very interesting how Slytherins are so different. Some of them were good, some of them were bad. In the Slytherin table, all of them were talking. All of them but a boy with brown hair, with a couple of books on the table, ignoring the food.
Why, that is odd thought May. She had never seen someone take out their books in the Great Hall. Maybe it was someone with problems with studies. Or, was a studying because he wanted to be a Ravenclaw, like May. She quickly looked at the Ravenclaw table. Not a single book open there. It was only the Slytherin and the Hufflepuff.
Still staring at the Slytherin table, May slapped her Potions book down with a very loud thud. Silence died in the Great Hall. She flushed and picked a spoonful of pudding. Why that was embarassing!!

Dale looked up and around, he realized that he and one other person were the only ones doing any studying... strange, he expected more people to be studying, after all a new semester had just begun. Dale looked over to the other girl that was studying, well He assumed she was studying, she would’ve been reading for fun, or maybe just trying to learn things on her own. He was able to catch a glimpse of a potion books, the the girl preceded to drop the book on the ground, quite loudly. She seemed very flustered, and the hall went silent, in about 5 seconds every one went back to talking or eating, but Dale was still looking over to the girl. Maybe she was having a few troubles with her studies. Dale got up form his seat and packed up his books, he walked to the girls table, the Hufflepuff table... dale assumed. And took a seat I front, ”hi, I sorta noticed you might be having a f-few troubles with your studies, do ya need any help? ” dale said as he proceeded to take out his own potions textbook, sure it was for second years and not first years but it could still be used to tutor pretty well, and dale tutored people a lot.

Dale was a little off-put by the loud girls out-burst... she seemed a bit embarrassed when he asked her if she needed help, Dale kinda understood why. He would also be a bit embarrassed if a random stranger asked him if he needed help in the middle of the great hall... but he was genuinely just trying to help out, and it's not like anyone would care, they were too eating and... socializing. What really made Dale uncomfortable was when she said he could get in trouble for sitting at the Hufflepuff table, from what he knew there wasn't a single rule in the school that forbade the mingling of houses at the table... But Dale pretty sure he knew the reason the girl was so hostile towards him, he was wearing green today, his green tree shirt with leaf patterns might've tipped the girl off to his house, and Dale knew that most first years had a pretty bad opinion on Slytherins, bad history and worse past students... "S-Sorry, i-i was tryin to help" Dale said, his face went red with embarrassed, he was too afraid to look behind him, too afraid his fellow housemates might be staring at him.
