After the events of the Gryffindor common room investigation
and a coincidental encounter in the hospital wing
Evelynn scrambled out the portrait hole, her head buzzing. Had someone told her that morning that she would find herself neck deep in a plot involving the life and death of arguably the most famous wizard in the last century, she'd have thought them mad and gone on her merry, studious way. Three months she had spent in that common room. Three months absently studying the intricate details and stitching of the tapestries, the brushwork and colour of the portraits. Nowhere in her continuously working mind had she even considered the possibility that everything was not as it appeared.
Like a black and white montage, she continued to play through the past hour, images of the investigation flicking across the surface of her thoughts, clips of sound and speech ringing in her ears once again. The newspaper, the portraits, the glove and mask, VanCleaf and Umbridge, the eye-witness students, the tapestries, unknown guest quarters, innocence versus guilt… As soon as she started to work on processing one thought, another would crop up to replace it. There was too much. She wanted to help, but she knew too little of the history of the school or the recent happenings.
Even still, she didn't think herself to be useless in sorting out at least some aspect of…whatever this was. Which it certainly was. Something, that is. Yes, she decided, her resolve solidifying against the background echo of her steps descending the stairs from the tower two at a time. There was something going on. Of that, she was certain. Portraits and tapestries didn't just change on their own. And definitely not in so coincidental a way to align so nicely to some of the major aspects of a major news story. Plus that the article had been on the fourth page instead of the first when it was clearly headline news. Not to mention the admission of a glove and mask that Aurelia had informed them all had been a real issue in Hogwarts' past.
There were definitely prominent pieces. Puzzle pieces. But how they fit together, Evelynn hadn't any idea. She had some thoughts. Loose hypotheses and possible connections, but nothing concrete. She needed help to sort through it all. Aurelia had been knowledgeable about quite a lot of it, and the redhead had had half a mind to speak with her later. For the immediate present, however, it wasn't to Aurelia that Evelynn felt drawn. It was to the girl who had raced from the room holding her nose in a way so as to choke on her blood. She had had a shrewd look about her, and had been quick to identify certain correlations. Evelynn was certain she could prove pivotal to learning more and furthering the investigation, but she had left in such a hurry that she had failed to uncover as much as the rest of them. Evelynn wanted to rectify that. Fill her in. Ask her for her insight. Perhaps even share ideas and postulate more connections if her upperclassman had the patience for her.
And of course check that she was okay. That too.
The only problem was…Evelynn didn't know where she had gone. Given the haste with which she had left, though, the pallor of her face and the pinching of her nose, she could assume the hospital wing. So it was to there that she rushed, black robes billowing behind her. Thankfully, she didn't have too far to go. It was only on two floor below them; not so far as most of her classes, or the great hall. Of course, that didn't stop Evelynn from getting a bit lost. Her navigational skills had much improved, and she no longer fell prey to most of the vanishing steps, but she still wasn't used to the moving staircases. Or the doors that opened to nothing but brick wall. Or the way that portraits and suits of armor seemed to move around and throw off her sense of direction and relative position in the castle.
"Oh come ooon," Evelynn sighed in exasperation as yet another railing closed itself off immediately in front of her in her approach to allow the changing of the stairs.
She was sweating and short of breath from back-tracking and making up for lost time at this point. Another obstacle was the last thing she wanted to deal with when she just so desperately wanted to sink into a puffy armchair and sink all her efforts into an collaborative intellectual discussion. Her impatience getting the better of her, she decided to skip the lengthy wait time for the landing to resume to normal and cut through behind a tapestry and down a narrow stair well. She'd overheard someone talking about the short-cut once. Red hair flew out behind in a tangle as she once again took the stairs two at a time.
"AH!"
Evelynn's heart jumped into her throat as she felt herself sink. One hand flew up to clap over her mouth, the other dropping reflexively to try to break her fall, landing hard on the stair in front of her. It took her a solid few breaths before her mind caught up with the situation to realize that she had fallen prey to a false step that she hadn't known about halfway down the stairwell, one that had swallowed her leg to her thigh.
"Arrggh…" Annoyance flooded through her as she fought to reposition herself. "Why… does… it…" She puffed, bracing herself and heaving and pulling up the steps above her to try to pull herself free. "Always… have… to be…so… hard!"
With a final scramble of effort, she managed to pull free. She rolled over onto her rear, half sitting, half lying on the steps as she caught her breath. When she was finally able to conjure her strength again, she rose and continued down the corridor. A little more cautiously this time, test stairs here and there to make sure a repeat event didn't happen, then emerged from a tapestry at the base. Free of the death trap, she picked up her pace as she raced along the corridor, and then came to a skidding halt. Her eyes had settled on the familiar doorway of a certain abandoned toilet.
"What?!"
A couple of students glanced her way when she whined. Evelynn ducked her head with embarrassment, a hand raising to comb absently through her hair as thought that would somehow diffuse the outburst. Despite the fact that the students returned to their conversation, the young Gryffindor felt no relief. What she hadn't realized was that the short cut was just a little too effective. It had taken her down two floors. Not one. From the fourth floor, to the second. Which would have been great had she been heading to class -- which she made a mental note for future -- but she wasn't. The hospital wing was on the third floor.
"Um… Excuse me…" Evelynn glanced dropped her hands to tuck into her pockets and glanced sheepishly to the students again. "Sorry to trouble you… Could you point me in the direction of the fastest way to get to the hospital wing?"
With the help of her upperclassmen, she was finally on the right track. She strode smoothly down the hall, turned a corner, and broke into a run again only once she was certain she was out of sight of those from whom she had enlisted navigational assistance. Up a flight of steps and…
"Finally!" She sighed, a smile peeling her rosy lips.
With the hospital wing coming into view, all was right in the world again. Coincidentally, not only had she found her destination, she had also found the individual she sought, who, evidently, had just taken her leave. Evelynn gave herself a silent pat on the back for guessing correctly. Not that it had been a particularly difficult assumption to make, but she'd take even a small win at the moment.
"Oh hey!" Evelynn called out casually, pulling a hand from her robes to offer a small wave at the Gryffindor girl who had previous fled at top speed from the heart of the common room investigation. "You okay? You left pretty quickly there.."

Heavy thoughts were spiralling deep in her head. The nurse did give her potions to help, but at the same time, the existence of him complicated the whole case. She didn't manage to understand how exactly, but it definitely did. Or she just loved to complicate things rather than simplify them.
She was slowly strolling through the corridors after leaving the hospital wing, clutching the provided solutions in her arms. Solutions that should help her headache and already stopped nosebleed. Not the solutions that would resolve the murder case. Why the whole case would even bother her? There should be other human beings, adult ones, to take care of such issues. Why would she suddenly feel she was some kind of justice tool? Maybe she just considered every riddle out there as her personal challenge without even thinking about whether it was worth engaging. What an irrational fool!
Suddenly, a girl emerged from nothingness right in front of her. Did she know her? Ah, well, yes, some first Gryffindor first year.
"Is she important?" the recently discovered voice casually asked, as if there were people that were not important, "I mean, is she important at the moment?" it detailed the question. Meenauh was too deep in her personal abyss of thinking, so she could understand the question that tried to bring her back to reality.
"Yeah, I got some nasty nosebleed, but it somehow stopped without any treatment," she didn't lie and continued to move on, silently not minding the girl to accompany her, but then stopped, "You were in the common room, right? Do you have anything happening to you as well?" she wondered and started to analyse the girl in order to find out any eye-catching ailments. Maybe the tapestries were, indeed, cursed and students had to pay price for their discovery. She kept those last ones to herself for now, though.

"I thought that might've been what happened…" Evelynn replied, wrinkling her own nose as though the very mention of it sent a tingling sensation of blood running down her own. "Glad it stopped fine. They usually do, though."
Not that she was any kind of expert with nosebleeds or anything, but Evelynn's mother had been insistent to put her through a handful of first-aid courses from a very early age. You never know when you might need it… She could hear her mother echoing in her thoughts as she padded after Meenauh like a puppy. Parents will feel far more assured if they know you are able to tend to minor issues and injuries when caring for their children, came the supporting argument to the first. And Evelynn had to admit, it had come in handy several times. Usually more for herself than anyone else, though.
"Uh, yes, I was," Evelynn said joltingly, coming to just as sudden a stop when the one she was trailing turned to face her.
Gray eyes lifted to meet the searching gaze of her upperclassman. It was odd to be put under this sort of scrutiny; it was generally Evelynn who placed the appraising gaze upon others. She had to admit, it was a bit unnerving to find herself in a reverse situation. She kept flickering her gaze away from Meenauh's.
"No…nothing happened to me," she replied, a faint blush creeping up her neck as fingers lifted to tuck a loose strand of strawberry hair behind an ear. "Not that I know of, anyway…"
And true to her word, Meenauh would find no sign of illness or malady. Evelynn was pale, but no more than usual, with a spattering of faint freckles across her nose and cheeks. Stormy eyes found themselves framed by tousled ginger hair hanging down a little past her shoulders. She still wore her school robes, although black flats peaked from beneath the hem whenever she took a step, and a fine chain of silver hung about her neck, disappearing into the collar of her school uniform. Over her shoulder, she carried her schoolbag.
"I didn't come to go to the hospital wing," she reiterated, glancing back up to Meenauh. "You found quite a bit about that first tapestry," she explained, "and seemed to know a lot. But you left kind of early, before we took a look at the rest of them."
She broke the gaze once again to open her satchel and pull out a sketchbook, opening it to a page depicting a very rough and approximate sketch of the tapestry of hearing. The page opposite depicted the changes, with lines and labels to highlight what wasn't obviously apparent in the black and white and messy sketch.
"That's the one you found…obviously.." She offered the book forward in case Meenauh wanted to take it into hand for a better look. "But the other five are there too. Well, sort of. The tapestry of desire didn't change at all." She paused, chewing her lip nervously for a moment, feeling both worried about being a bother but also hoping to impress the elder student. "I was hoping to hear your thoughts. And maybe put our heads together. There's definitely something strange going on."

They continued to walk through the corridors as Evelynn revealed nothing happened to her, despite her quite unhealthy look in Meenauh's opinion. Before that Meenauh dropped off her inquiring stare, rotated herself towards the direction of their temporarily paused movement and switched back to indifference.
It seemed the girl really went down to check over her. It was so nice of her, but Meenauh only gave that moment a subtle smile with the left corner of her lips. As they moved on, Evelynn pulled out something resembling a sketchbook and showed it to Meenauh. And then explained why.
It appeared that the others left in the common room went on checking the remaining tapestries and found out they all changed. All but one. They also figured out (or that was commonly known fact, which Meenauh got a wonderful opportunity to miss) that the tapestries represented senses. Meenauh was already holding the sketchbook and going through the pages. The whole scene seemed like she was some private detective and one of her agents was sharing the precious information with her. They couldn't stop and talk, they had to move to bring more flow to the scene, more subtle action. Time was flowing like a river. Every stop, every second of waiting was precious, so they didn't stop.
But they weren't any sorts of detectives. They were just children. Children, who just happened to be in the same House with Mr. Potter.
And the girl requested cooperation. Meenauh was walking much slower as she was carefully examining the hand-drawn sketches. She started to deduce in her mind, but the presence of another girl and the fact that they were her drawings insisted that Meenauh would talk out loud.
"Okay, so the lady in pink is always there and always the lady in pink. We have the stag... a lion in armour... a... badger? A badger in armour?" she looked at the girl, "Headmaster Lear?" and back on the pages, "Then there are items: a cage..." she switched between the pages once again, "a wand... a parcel... Okay, Umbridge is Umbridge and stag is Potter as I've thought before. Headmaster Lear sounds interesting, but he seems to be a rare guest in the case. And he's... running away from the rest of the party. The lion. A Gryffindor. Hmm... What if... What if August VanCleaf was a Gryffindor? He was the one who came to the common room to get Potter, right? And we know that only Gryffindors can enter the Common Room."

Evelynn's brows knit together briefly, considering the most recent question. What if August VanCleaf was a Gryffindor? She'd thought about that, or that he could be the man in common clothes. But then, the latter had seemed sort of familiar to some. And there was the other little detail…
"Mn…" she hummed, mulling over the idea. "I don't know about that. I mean…maybe he was. But he didn't come into the common room. At least that's what Miss Minerva said. I don't know who actually arrested Mr. Potter, but it wasn't VanCleaf, and VanCleaf was heard apologizing over and over again from outside in the corridor."
Then something else occurred to her of what her upperclassman had said.
"And you said the badger could be Professor Lear? Was he in Hufflepuff when he was a student? And what about the cage being, like, trapped while under the effects of the mask? Aurelia said that the person wearing the glove controls the person wearing the mask. Maybe there was a Gryffindor under the effects of the mask?"
Evelynn continued to dog after Meenauh, trying her best to take long strides and remain abreast of her counter. Every now and then, however, she'd have to take a hastened step or two to catch up, and every time Meenauh stopped, she'd come to an abrupt halt, listening as though in a lecture and hanging on to every one of Meenau's words. It was exciting. Clandestine, almost. She felt as though she were in a real-life adventure.

"Mhm. No, if August VanCleaf didn't come into the Common Room, then he's probably not a Gryffindor. If he'd be one, he'd definitely enter and arrest Mr Potter," those were Meenauh's words after she listened to Evelynn's explanation, which she, in her turn, acquired from the portrait of not-yet-professor McGonnagal, "but the newspaper, if we can believe a single word of it, also said that VanCleaf assisted in the arrest."
The girl switched onto the badger and Meenauh had to continue explanations:
"Headmaster Lear was the Head of Hufflepuff before becoming the Headmaster of the school, so I somehow assumed it's him," she answered and pondered a bit before answering to the next questions, "I do not know a lot about the mask and the glove, to be honest, I was not yet at Hogwarts, so there are only rumours. But if you say Aurelia said that then maybe we can believe it as she's one of few, who may possess the genuine information about that whole incident. Did Aurelia said something about that person that was under the effect of the mask? Maybe we could find that student and talk? Maybe that person could give us hints of how exactly the control was feeling like? As far as I know, the mask is missing, but... what if it's on a student now?" Meenauh stopped with a shocked expression.
The rumours were not of the most pleasant ones, so a realisation like this gave her shivers. She had to find out more about the mask. What if, really, there was a student at the moment, which was under the effect of the mask. And the mask... was controlling that student. Who knows whom to blame for what happened during the masquerade?
The thoughts started to build a platform in her mind so that she could have any foundation for her connections in future, but at that moment it was too much. The headache was slowly coming back and Meenauh opened one of the flasks, received from the nurse, and drank half of it in expectation of the headache going away. Her rational thinking found no reason for that nurse to poison her, so she went for it. In several seconds, the world became a bit warmer and cosier. She slowed down the pace and felt that the best set of actions would be to quietly return to her dorm and get some good sleep.
She would listen to what Evelynn would have to say about Meenauh's latest insights, but would take it less seriously than before.

Evelynn wasn't entirely unaware of Meenauh's reaction. The shocked expression had not gone unnoticed, and in truth, it was a materialization of the internal realization and dread that Evelynn had felt when Aurelia had first explained the implication of the mask.
"It was a Ben..." Brows pinched together and her gaze hazed a touch as she replayed that particular part of the scene where Aurelia had revealed the information. "Ben Eckenrode," she answered with a slight nod, as though reaffirming to herself that that sounded right. She glanced side-long to Meenauh then as she relayed the explanation that had been provided back in the common room. "She said they were dark objects ─ though I suppose that's a given. She said that it happened in her first year ─ do you know what year she is in? I suppose at least third, if you weren't there for it all..."
She trailed off, her own thoughts taking a similar turn as Meenauh's, wondering what exactly had transpired during the year Aurelia had mentioned. It was a terrifying thing to think about, in truth: the idea of being controlled by someone else; to act against your will. "I don't imagine it would be easy to talk to Ben about it, though..." She mused. "I don't think I'd like to have to talk about those memories over and over. They're probably pretty painful for him.."
In fact...had it been her, she's quite certain she would have insisted on being transferred to another school. She'd done so for much less than what this Ben fellow had had to endure. With a sigh, she compartmentalized those little trains into neat little stations to consider another day. Instead, she honed in on something Meenauh had said earlier.
"About Professor Lear... I just thought of something." She'd been wondering about the armor, but had shrugged it off as unimportant earlier. "The badger and the lion were both wearing armor. I thought at the time that maybe it had something to do with fighting or use of defensive spells or defending a person or something...but what if it means armor in the more, like, traditional sense. Like a coat of arms? Like how each of the Houses have their own coat of arms? If Professor Lear was the Head of House Hufflepuff, and if he's represented by a badger in arms, what if the lion represents whoever was Head of House Gryffindor at the time?"

Ben Eckenrode. She heard the name because she heard the rumours. Where was this Ben? Was he still at Hogwarts?
"Yes, she's a third-year, they are roommates with Xailah and Xailah is a third-year," Meenauh was talking slow, same slow as she was walking, and she didn't quite care whether the girl knew who Xailah was. Because, well, fewer things mattered as they were climbing the stairs one floor after another.
The girl was caring. And it seemed she was psychologically educated as Meenauh was listening to her explaining the potential feelings of that Ben boy and how a talk about the mask could hurt him. Meenauh didn't think about that, of course, as... well, she couldn't think about even a single little thing straight anymore. And definitely not about something that had to include a wide emotional range. Maybe no one talked to Ben, because he was transferred to another school. Indeed.
The eyes were getting heavier and heavier with every step they were making. The potion, that American version of the potion, felt much stronger than she could expect. The only goal was to reach the bed and fall onto it. Nothing mattered more than that. The first-year girl was the only vivid source of sound and movement as the world started to look hazy and blurred, so Meenauh tried to focus.
Headmaster Lear... Head of Hufflepuff... Armor... Defending person... or something... coat of ar...
She was not following. The endings of the words started to slip away as if the redhead was intentionally muting them.
Head of House Gryffindor...
"Oh! I can... be helpful. When I got into Hogwarts, our Head of House was... Professor Wright. She was pretty... And then she left... And I have," she stopped in the middle of the stairs, several steps before the entrance to the Gryffindor Common Room, to yawn, "I have no idea," she said after finishing the yawn, "whether she was around... when all... that... happened", she made a few steps closer to the end of the stairs, "but I believe we could ask... the older students," and another yawn.
She sat down and put the remaining potion and the empty flask in front of her.
"Marla, if you don't... mind, dear, I'll go to our dorms... to have a good sleep," she lay down just a few steps in front of the Common Room portrait right near her flasks, "See you tomorrow."
And she went to sleep. The sleep would be much deeper than usual, considering the potion's strength. There would be a limited number of things that would wake her up. Hopefully, no dreams would interrupt her peaceful sleep.

It seemed the excitement of the common room had taken its toll on Meenauh. Or so Evelynn assumed. She had seen the girl taking sips from the potion now and then throughout their journey back to the Gryffindor tower from the Hospital Room, but wasn't aware of its sedative effects. Particularly as they climbed that winding staircase up the tower towards the Fat Lady's portrait, the pace seemed to slow and the yawns seemed to come in increasing frequency. Even still, Evelynn couldn't have known that her words were largely going unheard.
"Can you?!" Came the excited reply, grey eyes alight with anticipation as they darted to Meenauh. By the girl's own words, she could be helpful, and thankfully Evelynn needn't wait long to find out how.
"Professor Wright, eh…" Evelynn repeated thoughtfully, trying to think if she had heard the name before. She was pretty sure she hadn't. Excitement and wonder began to steadily fade as Meenauh continued, however. With every passing yawn-punctuated sentiment, the "helpfulness" seemed to drift further and further away until Evelynn was almost certain that the other lion knew as little as she did herself.
"Bummer…" Evelynn murmured with a sigh, lips pursing. Although… "Maybe Xailah or Aurelia would know?" she said hopefully, regurgitating the recently named third-year, as well as her own established role-model.
Of course…she had no idea who Xailah was. For a few more steps, she occupied herself with trying to put a face to name, conjuring any memories she had of Aurelia that might have included this unknown individual. But if Aurelia and she were roommates, then it at least meant that Xailah was a Gryffindor. Brows pinched and lips pressed together with the futility of Evelynn's train of thought. Really, she had hardly anything to go off of, and for once, she actually chided herself on her habit of withdrawing to quiet solitude for study; it did nothing to help her passively obtain knowledge about the people around her. From now on, she would do her studying in the library or the common room, she vowed.
"Who's Xai--" Sweeping her gaze back to Meenauh only to see her sinking to the floor, Evelynn cut herself short. "What are…" She blinked as the other set the empty flask down. "Who's Marla?" she then asked, glancing over her shoulder as though she thought perhaps Meenauh was addressing someone that Evelynn hadn't realized had arrived. She hadn't. The staircase was just as empty as she had thought it had been. When she looked back around, her brows rose. Meenauh had sunk even further to the point of sprawling out.
"Wooooaaah hold up…" Evelynn breathed, eyes widening, then stooped with hands spread as though pressing upon some invisible barrier cocooning the quickly-falling-to-slumber upperclassman. And then…she hovered, half-crouch, half-standing, and entirely uncertain what to do. Over her shoulder she peered again, but this time with an urgency and pleading expression, willing the timely and miraculous arrival of quite literally anyone to help her out. No one. "Uh…"
She swept her gaze back to her fallen comrade, biting her lip. Obviously…she couldn't just leave her here, and it was clear that there was something a little off about it all. By the sounds of it, Meenauh had just mistaken Evelynn for this "Marla" (whoever that was), and thought she was going to her dorms. Evelynn frowned, dropping into a squat next to Meenauh, head tilting to survey the girl's unexpectedly vulnerable visage.
"Pssssst…" she hissed, briefly lowering her face a little closer. "It's not a good idea to fall asleep in the middle of the corridors." Stating the obvious. Good start. She paused, waiting for a reaction, then continued with a prop to the shoulder and a more urgent, "wake up!"
"Oh come oooon," she whined, setting her elbows upon her knees, palms cupping puffed cheeks as though somehow that was going to help. She glanced over to the flask, eyeing it suspiciously. She reached for it. "Hrm…" she hummed, giving it a whiff. It wasn't a smell she recognized. Acknowledging that it was likely that Professor Price would, however, she pocketed it.
But now what? Evelynn set her gaze back upon the sleeping beauty (she was rather pretty). She couldn't very well carry her. She could drag her, she supposed, taking a moment to judge the distance between here and the portrait, but then dismissed that notion immediately. Getting her through the portrait hole would be a nightmare and a half. In a renewed effort to wake her, preferring the idea of guiding a half-sleeping person up to bed to, say, finding someone else to carry her, Evelynn jostled her shoulders again hopefully.
Try as she might, however, nothing seemed to wake the slumbering lioness. Stumped, Evelynn gave the girl one last poke to her forehead (for good measure!) before rising back to her feet. There's was nothing more to be done. There was but one reasonable option that remained to her: Evelynn would have to ask for some help. Fortunately, Meenauh had had the decency to collapse so near to their den.
As Evelynn closed the distance between her lump figure and the entrance to Gryffindor common room, she couldn't help pale at the notion of what might have happened if they hadn't made it this far. Evelynn would have been positively beside herself in a situation of having to decide between seeking assistance or staying to offer meager protection against wayward dhampirs. Thank goodness that wasn't the case.
After a hastily uttered password and swing of a portrait, Evelynn leaned through the portrait hole to survey the interior of the commons. "Hey! I need a little help over here!"

Jo yawned. Usually, the Gryffindor common room wasn’t her first choice when it came to relaxing, but after the impromptu meeting about the trial she felt like she couldn’t just up and leave. There was so much to be explored, like that annoying, annoying Tapestry of Desire. There had to be some way to get it to change. The whole thing was stupid, of course, because she’d never met Mr. Potter and in no way owed him any favor. She probably shouldn’t have erupted like that when reading the article, but oh well. What’s done is done, and it wasn’t like there was anything she could do to make a better impression or...
She barely noticed the portrait swinging open, but the request for help certainly got her attention, mainly because she recognized the voice. It was the girl that had told her about where Ms. Umbridge was murdered, if her memory was correct. Well, Jo had reread the article since then and was quite confident in the deets of the story now if she could say so herself, but it didn’t seem like the girl needed her for any sleuthing right now. Her voice had sounded a bit urgent, in fact.
“Yes, just a minute!” The Gryffindor chirped lightheartedly as she gathered her things and re-arranged them in a corner of the desk so they wouldn’t be accidentally removed by an eager house elf. If she had known the problem; she might have been quicker to collect her belongings, but she didn’t and that was that; it was probably just a spilled potion or an escaped toad or something. She hoped it was an escaped toad. That might be a lot of fun.
Jo stepped out of the portrait-hole and immediately gasped in shock at the sight before her - a student lying unconscious on the floor, the familiar redhead beside her.
“Merlin!” She screeched, dashing to the sleeping girl’s side. “What happened? We need to get her to the hospital wing as soon as possible!” Unaware of the irony of her statement, she callously grabbed Meenauh’s arms. “Can you get her legs? I mean, I could drag her if you wanted, but it’ll ruin her robes! Is she alive?!”
Uh... do what they do in the movies. All those disaster movies and stuff.
Arching unconscious girl’s back with the other hand, Jo plunged two fingers into the soft skin under Meenauh’s chin, dragging them towards the neck as she realized the slight error. Surprisingly, it seemed even Muggle movies could be trusted at times in the magical world - a steady heartbeat thrummed against her fingers, putting an end to her temporary panic.
“Ah, yeah, she’s f-fine, I guess. What happened?”
