How to Spend a Stormy Day
The snow fluttered against the windows in the library making it seem like there was some sort of monster barreling around outside. Arienna watched the flurry outside, imagining the monster dancing among the trees around the castle and into the Forbidden Forest. Monsters and fierce creatures weren't something she typically enjoyed thinking about unless they were part of an adventure and even then, they still weren't her favorite. However, in her imagination, the snow monster wasn't scary but noble and magnificent like a unicorn.
She set down the book she was reading and got up to look out the window. Everything in sight was covered by a blanket of snow, even the students walking around had gathered a dusting on themselves. How were they able to stay out there when it was so cold? She wondered. They seemed totally fine out there, moving about like there wasn't a snowstorm at all.
Shifting over to the shelves of books she looked through the collection, reading all of the different titles and running her finger over the different patterns on the spines. Taking one off of the shelf, she smelled it and giggled. She put it back and took another one, smelling it as well. She couldn't help it, books were irresistible. It didn't matter if she was smelling them, reading them, or just thinking about them. They always made her smile, no matter what.
Putting the book back on the shelf, she took a step back to see the full floor-to-ceiling shelf. If only I could read all of these books. All of them probably have something interesting inside, She thought, Except maybe Transfiguration, that class doesn't seem nearly as interesting as the others. She took another step back and bumped into someone. "Sorry, I didn't see you there," She said quietly, turning around to see them.

How to Spend a Stormy Day
For a rather cold day, Jenni had much energy. It was already January, and the snow kept on. At first, Jenni thought it was rather annoying for she felt cold throughout the entire day. However, she made peace with it a few weeks back. The beautiful and flawless snow was unique. It remained strong, despite the harsh words and opinions of it. Not that it had a choice, but still. The peaceful blanket of snow with several small dots of students on the grounds was a magnificent sight - it looked perfect. A bit farther out, the Forbidden Forest. Dangerous and mysterious creatures roamed in there. Well, according to her peers and Professors. Honestly, it did seem dangerous, but there were also magnificent creatures! Oh, and the thrill of seeing those creatures! Jenni made sure to add that on her growing list of things to do.
As Jenni walked along the library shelves, she ran her fingers along the spine of the books. Smiling softly, she thought back to her childhood days. She never would have expected a miracle like Hogwarts to happen. Oh, how things changed. Just a year ago, she despised reading and doing things that involved energy. Now, she wanted to do everything - explore the castle, sneak into the Ravenclaw common room, read books whenever she wanted, eat until she couldn't, and so much more. Everything about the place made her excited, and although she didn't have a lot of friends, she was happy. Jenni knew that everything would soon come into place.
Coming across one particularly interesting shelf, she glanced up and saw it contain books from the floor to the ceiling. Giggling softly, she wondered how the librarian was able to put the books onto the highest part of the shelf. Jenni figured it was some kind of levitation spell. She also wondered if anyone actually read all those books - heck, she was down for it. Jenni also added that for her list to do during her time at Hogwarts. Sighing happily at the books, she pulled one out from the shelf and smiled. Jenni rubbed the spine softly as she turned the page, but then she stumbled, grabbing onto the shelf for balance.
"Sorry, I didn't see you there."
Turning towards the voice, Jenni saw a blonde girl around her height and age. On a normal day, Jenni would snap and walk away - which was probably why she didn't have many friends... However, Jenni was in a too good of a mood to do that. Giving the girl a small smile, she quickly regained her balance and stepped back to give the girl a bit of space. "Don't worry. I guess we're both excited about getting our books. Oh, and this magnificent bookshelf. I've never seen anything like it before!"

"Yeah, it's the biggest one I have ever seen," Arienna noticed. All of the bookshelves at home were short enough that she could reach the top shelf with a small stool. This one she would need a ton of small stools or a long ladder to get to the very top of the shelf. Unfortunately, she didn't have access to either of those right now so she would have to make do with only the bottom books.
She took a glance at the books all around her and randomly selected one that looked interesting and took it off of the shelf. It was a nice leathery texture and was a good weight to be carried under the arm. "This one looks good, don't you think?" She asked the girl and held up the large book that she had found.
She continued looking around the library and all of the books. Has the librarian read all of them? She wondered. If they had then they would be so full of knowledge about so many things. Being a librarian would be so fun, they get to hang out in the library all day and handle books which would be amazing.
She walked back to the bookshelf where she was before and began grabbing books from the shelves. Reading material was a must, especially when she couldn't sleep at night because of her dorm mates' noise or the fact that she was just too excited to sleep. She grabbed neatly, being careful not to make a mess but by the time she was done, her arms were full of books.

Jennifer agreed with the girl. It sure was a pretty tall bookshelf - pretty much, nothing she'd ever seen before. Back at home, Jenni had a library, but it was a relatively small one. She didn't enjoy reading before she made it to Hogwarts, so she really did not find any reason to go into her library. However, at times, she did visit it when her little brother dragged her in about a particularly interesting book. His taste in books was horrible - muggle books just couldn't compare to magical ones. Perhaps one day Jenni would be able to do the same to him. Ah, it would just be a matter of time.
Jenni turned towards the bookshelf again and went back to her own business, humming softly as she picked out a book. The cover looked nice, and it was a decent size. Nodding to herself, Jenni pulled it from the shelf and held if carefully. Hearing the girl's voice again, Jenni turned to see her holding a large book. Giggling, Jenni nodded, "It looks fantastic. I'll have to read it after you do!" Lifting her own book that she picked out for the girl to see, Jenni asked, "How about this one?" Jenni turned back to face the bookshelf and she began to pick out several other books.

Going to the library was always an adventure - there was countless books to read and the thrill of picking out books was exhilarating! There was always something new at every corner and Jenni loved it. After grabbing her last book, Jenni turned towards the tables to find a seat. Instead, Jenni found the girl she saw earlier - her arms full of books. A smile crept onto Jenni's face and she let out a soft chuckle. "Here, let me help you." Rushing towards the girl, Jenni soon realized that they were both in the same boat and had something in common. The two of them grabbed more books than they could hold.

"It looks good as well!" Arienna responded, already looking through the pages of the book she had found. "You can have this one once I am finished with it," she promised, "It will only take me a couple of days or so, maybe less." She had only had it for a couple of minutes and she was already a little bit in. It was just so interesting that she couldn't bear to put it down. This is probably going to be one of those ones. The type that is just too good. She noted, finally parting herself from the book.
As she toppled around from under the weight of so many books, she heard the voice of the girl she had talked to earlier. "Here let me help you," she heard her say.
"Ah, thank you!" She smiled gratefully, "It looks like you've got a lot there too! I wonder how we should get these books back to our dormitories?" Her arms were overflowing with books, some were already on the verge of falling out, no doubt she'd lose some on the way back. She couldn't bear to lose any of them, she absolutely needed to read every single one of those books and if she lost any then she would possibly never be able to find it again.

Jennifer grinned, pleased at the girl's response. The book she had looked quite interesting, and Jennifer's companion seemed to be rather excited an interested in the book - she could hardly put it down! Jenni couldn't stop smiling like an idiot. For some reason, Jenni was amazed. She'd never met anyone who enjoyed books as much as herself. Well, until she met the very girl standing before her. That was remarkable... perhaps she had to talk to this girl more often! That sounded nice to Jennifer, but she didn't even know her name yet...
The girl thanked her and Jenni gave her a small smile and a nod. Listening to her speak, grinned. The girl was right. They were both carrying so many books they could hardly see what was in front of them. Heck, Jenni tripped so many times already just trying to walk around the library! Getting the books back to their dormitories was sure to be a lot more challenging. Jenni couldn't risk losing them on the way to her dorm! Deep in thought, Jenni adjusted the books in her hands before looking up to the girl when she had an idea.
With a small smile, Jenni asked, "We could..." Jenni became lost in thought again, realizing how dumb her idea was. She was going to suggest they levitate their books to their dorms, but Jenni hadn't quite learned that spell yet. Sadly. Heck, she didn't even think she could levitate something heavy as her books. They would have to go back to the more original and hard way. Walking and carrying their books.
"Well, I have no ideas. I suppose we'll have to read a few before we go back." Jenni let out a soft chuckle before adjusting her grip on the books again. Thinking to herself, Jenni quickly said, "Well, I'm not leaving anytime soon. I'll figure that out later. What about you?" Secretly, Jenni wanted the girl to stay in the library as well. It was rare to find someone that you shared a hobby with!

"Yeah, I suppose I am not leaving either," Arienna giggled. Reading a couple of books was never a bad idea, especially when they were as good as these ones looked. She couldn't bear to leave any of them behind and she hadn't learned the spell that levitates things yet so she couldn't do that either. Placing her books down on the floor, she sighed. That was one serious arm workout.
She squatted next to her pile of books, happily looking through them to decide which one to read first. They all looked so good and seemed to be crying out, "Choose me! Choose me!" She shifted positions, trying to get comfortable on the floor since she didn't feel like picking up all of the books to move to a chair so the floor would have to do.
Leaning over to take yet another sniff of the books, she realized that she hadn't even properly introduced herself to the girl. "My name is Arienna by the way. What's yours?" She asked quietly. She hadn't really met many people at Hogwarts yet. Most of her time was consumed by studying and homework, reading in the library, or exploring different parts of the castle and surrounding areas.
As she was leaning over, her arm knocked over the neatly stacked pile of books that she had been making, causing all of the books to scatter across the floor. "Oops," she muttered as she scrambled around on all fours to try and restore the books to their stacked condition.
