New Secrets

Autumn danced around the library, humming a tune while exploring the walls secrets. Autumn had a mini library back in London that seemed like it could last for years. But this library could last for lifetimes. There were so many amazing stories out there, books about dragons, and mermaids. Muggle thought those things were made up, fake,  fantasied stories, but Autumn knew better. The books she was collecting were placed under the sign that read "Nonfiction", But the things under the fiction column were about the most ridiculous things, like fairies and stupid things like that. "Like fairies are real," Autumn huffed under her breath. As Autumn collected books, she noticed a door that read "RESTRICTED SECTION".  Autumn wondered what kind of books were in there that weren't allowed to be read. Maybe for teachers going in to look at a spell? What did the books have inside of them? What secrets did they hold? Now all Autumn wanted to do was go inside. Autumn didn't know why, and maybe it was her imagination, but just as she was staring at the wooden door, Autumn thought she heard a faint scream.

Many other students may have just walked away, minding their own business, but that scream made Autumn want to go in even more. Just as she was about to turn the doorknob, Autumn noticed a student with a shining badge that said, Prefect, coming around the corner. Not wanting to be caught, Autumn examined the book in her hand and opened a page to pretend read it. As the prefect passed her and was out of sight, Autumn looked around the ends of the wall, making sure the coast was clear, and carefully started to twist the rusty knob. With a shudder, the door stood still, unmoving. The stupid door is locked!Autumn thought, wanting to kick it. If only I had a key.

Autumn thought about why she even wanted to go in. It was against the rules, who knows what's in there, and didn't Autumn here a scream? Autumn didn't have a key either.

As Autumn walked away, she told herself she would ask a professor about the restricted section, not try and go inside the creepy door and possibly get detention.

(Know that I have gotten permission to Godmod the prefect in this story. Permission was granted by Xailah Alptraum .

New Secrets
The Prefect may have missed Autumn's suspicious behavior, but Quincy had been watching her failed attempted to enter the Restricted Section from a table where he sat, just across the bookshelves where Autumn stood. While Quincy was not one for rule-breaking, he also liked to show off his knowledge of spells. He slammed shut a massive textbook on goblin history and walked up to her.

"Have you not learned Alohomora yet?" Quincy whispered, a bit condescendingly. His eyes narrowed in on her, giving her a face suggesting she was being both foolish and Muggle-like.

Of course, Quincy was a first year and had not learned the spell himself, but he was aware of the spell, having seen family members use it all the time. Also, he highly doubted that the lock would be bypassed by a spell as simple as Alohomora, given the high security placed on the Restricted Section. He was mostly just teasing Autumn, while also gauging her knowledge of magic. He was curious whether she had not thought of the spell or simply could not perform it.

"Also," Quincy added with a grin, again whispering so the Prefect -- or worse, the librarian -- would not hear, "why exactly are you trying to access an area that is off-limits?"
