Now that Hogwarts had restarted in the new year, all of the students found themselves busy with classes to attend, homework to be done, people to talk to, and friends to make. Thora found herself swamped by all of those, despite lessons only having resumed just five days ago, and there was nothing like a moment of respite, a moment to herself. After failing to complete her charms homework for the past couple hours, despite it being her best subject, Thora had simply given up trying and decided to have a little fun. Having disciplined herself in focusing, it wasn't easy to pull away from her still-large load of homework, but the thought of fun finally won over and the girl swiftly packed up, setting off in her wander throughout the castle.

An aimless wander finally led Thora to the courtyard, which was terribly convenient for her to access due to a shortcut near the entrance of Hogwarts itself. Other than the odd student crossing the area on the path that ran through the middle, the courtyard was strangely much more empty than usual and devoid of other people. Clasping a cloak around her Muggle hoodie and jeans before venturing into the cold, Thora glanced at her admittedly strange outfit. It was an awful-looking mix of the wizarding world and the Muggle world, but wasn't that what she was herself? A girl from two worlds and with two stories?

Trying to ignore the truth that so often put her out of place with the more prejudiced purebloods at Hogwarts, Thora glanced around at the snowy scene. Sparks exploded in her vision as the sun glinted off blanket of snow that had settled over the campus as well. Well, that was just great. Tossing her book-crammed bag on the ground and plopping down next to it, the snek tilted her head up, catching the delicate flakes on her tongue. Thora absentmindedly closed frozen fingers around a handful of snow, forming a ball without even thinking. Many a snowball had she thrown at her little sister in her farm days in Dingle, and while there clearly was no sister to attack now, it was still a habit of hers.

It wasn't normal to find Thora like this, cloaked and sitting alone in the snow. Some would call her foolish, some would call her childish, but for once, she didn't care. She didn't care about what other people thought, didn't care about who thought she was just another weird girl among the students. She was here to enjoy herself, and that was enough for her.

Ruby walked out into the courtyard. She liked it here. It was often peaceful, and it was easy to access, especially for popping out for some fresh air on the way to somewhere else. She wandered through the snow, accompanied by the sound of her footsteps. There was only one other person here. It was a girl, wearing a cloak. She seemed… sad? Thoughtful?

Ruby leaned over and picked up a clump of snow in her gloved hands. Packing it together into a ball, she eyed the gap between them. There was no wind, and the girl wasn't too far away. She figured that she could hit her. Taking aim, she flung the snowball in that direction without a second thought.

What a strange way to meet someone. Perhaps the girl would react badly and some sort of fight would break out or she'd get angry, but Ruby could deal with that. She would be sorry for doing that, but she didn't know that it would upset her for sure. However, the girl could also find it to be a welcome distraction, and maybe they could have a friendly snowball fight. There was no harm in that! Ruby wanted something interesting to happen, and she hadn't done anything with the snow this year. A snowball fight would be welcome entertainment.

Serena walked out into the courtyard, her normal, "around Hogwarts" clothes were tucked under a giant cloak for winter. She had big ear muffs on, just to make sure she didn't get frost bite on her ears. To say she hated snow and the cold would be an understatement. She despised the time winter would come around, just meant more time inside when she was younger. She sort of enjoyed the snow later on, because it gave her a reason not to be outside, but she still didn't enjoy the temperature it had to be for the snow to be around.

Ever since the ball, Serena had been having night terrors. She did the best she could to hide them from the other girls in her dorm, but she wasn't sure how successful she was in doing that. On one hand no one had approached her about it, but maybe they didn't want to embarrass her due to her main place to sit around being the common room and there was always at least one other Hufflepuff in there. She was worried about the other girls finding out, she didn't want any special attention on her, especially one of that kind.

Her mind snapped out of its thought process when she saw another girl with brown hair who stood not very far from another girl, and the second girl, which had brown hair too, seemed quite sad. Serena started to walk over to the other girl, her eyes glancing over to the first girl as she saw her bending over to pick up snow, forming it into a ball. Now what the brown haired girl did next surprised Serena, she just chucked the ball of snow at the second girl.

Serena stood there dumbfounded, why would someone chuck such a cold thing as snow at another person, that was just a horrible thing to do. She quickly ran over to the second girl, whether the snowball actually hit her or not, she covered the girl's body with her own, her back facing the first girl, waiting for the cold sting of another ball of snow.

The Courtyard was a very good place for the teens who resided at the magical school of Hogwarts to relax in. However, it was less of a relaxing place and more aggravating when it snowed. Snow was a terrible thing. Koko had encountered enough of it in France over the holidays, and at school there was more? Terrible. What could be worse than the fact that snow could make your socks wet? The fact that snow could blind you. And so, being the very smart girl she was, Koko had put on a pair of aviator sunglasses. Not only was the blonde-haired girl extra enough - sorry, smart enough - to do this, but she was also wearing a blazer of all things. A blazer. However dumb she may have appeared in this outfit, there was no lie in the statement that it was warm. She had a scarf wrapped around her neck, and leather gloves keeping her fingers warm. Brown boots covered her feet.

Koko trudged around the Courtyard, glaring at the snow through her sunglasses, when she saw three figures, all with brown hair. Two of them were easily recognisable - both were on the Slytherin Quidditch Team. Ruby, one of Koko's first friends at Hogwarts, and Thora, a girl who Koko wanted to get to know more. Was Thora being... Tackled? That was weird. Koko's first instinct was to help the poor girl, but then she saw a white ball soaring through the air. Nope. Koko's first priority was herself, and herself only.

Bending down, she scooped up a bit of snow in her fingers, just enough to make a ball. After doing so, she began walking quickly to hide. Best not to get hit, right?

Ruthie had a rare break in her class schedule as she passed through the courtyard that afternoon. The courtyard looked lovely, glittering in snow. The Scottish girl hoped the snow would last; how she enjoyed this new view of her surroundings. It was refreshing after the stress of the last few months. At home, they had snow, but it never stayed around; that was the benefit of life on the seaside where the ocean could moderate temperatures.

As she held a navy messenger bag off her shoulder, she noticed Thora nearby. She'd gotten to know the young Slytherin these past few months after she saved Dymph and Jorah's lives. Ruthie couldn't help but like her. Sure, she was a little awkward at first, but after a few encounters with Thora, it was clear that she fundamentally a kind spirit. Ru was about to put up a hand to wave out to her friend when across her line of sight came a bright, white snowball. And it was headed right towards Thora. Ruthie wasn't close enough to gently push Thora out of the way, so instead her glance went in the other direction to see where the snowball had come from: cat girl from the grounds. The brunette had seemed polite and her cat friendly when they briefly met, but no one, in Ruthie's mind, could go after Thora when she was around. Thora was a hero and Ruthie was loyal to her.

And so, two could play at that game. Dropping her bag by the courtyard wall, she grabbed some snow from the ground and moulded it into a ball. Thankfully, the snow was wet and thick. "Oi!" she called out as she raised her arm back. Squinting, she hurled the ball back at the girl who'd gone after Thora before giving her friend and the girl shielding her a smile of encouragement and bending her knees in case another hit was headed their way.

With but a single snowball throw, a scene was quickly picking up pace. Two persons were taking positions near the initial victim, one defensive, one offensive. What had been a peaceful silence was being broken by boots crunching, gloves scraping snow, and then- of all things- a stern shout.
"WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA."
There hovered nearby the decapitated head of a grinning snowman. Someone had tenderly crafted the poor thing with grass for hair, thin twigs for a smile, button eyes. Now it was hoisted up into the air with a spell, looming ominously. At the other end of said spell was a boy, a mere first-year, the blue hems of his winter cloak denoting him a Ravenclaw. Boots planted apart with one arm raised ahead and the other balancing behind, his uncannily pale freckled face firm with focus, silver stare crackling with excitement. It brightened when next he spoke, voice far less forceful than when he had cast his spell. "Hullo, Ruby!"

His chipper greeting was hushed and hasty, for he did not wish to put a damper on his concentration. He spoke to the side, but his eyes did not leave what he levitated, fixed on the snowy cannonball. The quiet and quick tone continued as he muttered her way, "I haven't had a real snowball fight before, so you'll have t'let me know if I break any rules, alright?" Was using spells in a snowball fight considered cheating? It was too late to ponder, and frankly, the typically quiet and composed boy was way ahead of himself, caught up in a rush of inspiration. Just one couldn't hurt! With a narrow squint he flicked his wrist, trying to send the smiling projectile not directly back at the three girls (thankfully), but at a bough above their heads, meaning to make it splatter and send a sprinkling of snow down upon them.
Summary
Pericles seems to side with Ruby, levitating a snowman's head and trying to launch it at a tree by Thora, Ruthie, and Serena in an attempt at making snow fall on them.

Having just returned from the Christmas Holidays, having spent it away from Hogwarts and with his Family, The holiday cheer lingered on his return to school almost excited to be back. Hogwarts had become Alan's second home which he always looked forward to coming back into, despite his nerves and anxiety. From his parents perspective, he unquestionably has come along way. After a few days of settling back into his classes, the weekend began. Seeing as his usual spot was far too cold to relax in the boy wandered off, eventually making his way into the courtyard.

Alan's other usual place being the Library was quite packed for the day as most students wanted to evade the cold. As always with his head in the books. Alan eventually wandered his way down to the courtyard. Here a snowball fight was taking place. Mostly unaware of the many people that were also spending their Saturday in the area.

Alan found himself in the middle of what appears to be a snowball fight. Peering up from the potions book he was reading the lad witnessed a snowball coming from Ruthie Greer pelting at Ruby Calzeres. Out of instinct, Alan dived into the ground burying his face into the snow, thinking people were picking on him. Thought at a glance, the boy was relieved facepalming himself as he said: "Oh..i-it was nothing heh." Brushing bits of snow off his clothes, he stood up seeing the three students that who he immediately recognised as Serena Davies, Ruby and a student he wasn't entirely unfamiliar with at the moment.

Watching the battle picking up Alan had never really had a snowball fight, but something in his mind was kicking at him to try, quickly grabbing his book, the boy jammed it into his bag placing near the wall and grabbing a large clump of snow, dropping it immediately from the cold. Shaking his head, Alan ran to his bag to fetch his woollen gloves and made a second attempt to turn the clump of snow into ball equivalent to a tennis ball. Charging in headstrong the boy hurled his first ball into the air aiming square at Thora as he said "Hey! Heads up!" After throwing the said ball, he added: "Umm...I-I-I mean can I join?"Alan squeaked when he asked. Although anxious a sudden rush was felt that the boy was never to used to, it felt good as if the adrenaline in his body finally kicked in.

A hacking cough resulted as Thora felt all the breath in her lungs rushing out of her. Someone was practically sitting on her, trying to protect her from... who knew what? Squirming out from under whoever it was, the brunette was relieved that it wasn't too hard, despite her slightly bruised ribs. After spotting a huge ball of snow heading in the direction of her uncovered head, it seemed she'd started a snowball fight by simply forming a ball of snow. If only important things could be that easy to start.

"Um, thanks, but I think I got it," Thora muttered awkwardly after she'd gotten her breath back. While she was breathing like a fish out of the water, at least oxygen was able to get in and out. Dying in the snow because of another student trying to help her was just utterly pathetic. It was quite a boring death, and despite that matching the girl's typical behavior, it just wasn't appealing. Not at all. Besides, who wanted to die?

As more students showed up, Thora found herself hastily brushing off her snow-dusted cloak and packing her own snowball just a little tighter. Competition was competition. Even if she didn't mean to start something of this scope or scale, it was happening. Thora wasn't too fond of the overcompetitive--those who would literally kill just so they could win a few minutes of glory. It just wasn't her type. But still, a little competitiveness was a trait she did not lack.

"Hi, Ruthie!" she called as she tried to dart out of the way. Some younger boy she hadn't seen before was trying to cause a snowfall through magic. Now that was an idea, something Thora hadn't previously thought of herself. While it annoyed her that he was going for her along with the girl--Thora felt like she'd seen the girl before but couldn't match name to face quite yet--she had to give it to him. It was smart and certainly worthy of wizarding-world brains.

"Sure, you can join," Thora felt the words practically tumble out of her mouth as another boy about her age--maybe a little older--asked if he could join. She wasn't in charge, but someone had to answer, right? In reality, it was basically a free for all. Nobody knew what was happening, and snow was flying in all directions. But wasn't that just the fun of it? Was that Koko? A quick flash of blonde hair disappearing behind the tall snowdrifts aroused a little suspicion in the girl. Why was her fellow Keeper trying to hide? Thora honestly could relate, though, as had she not been in the middle of this mess of fun, she would have hunkered down for sure.

And then, glancing around at the many people, she knew. The girl who had lobbed a snowball at her was a prefect. One of her prefects. Eyes narrowed yet with a grin on her face, Thora tossed her snowball and hoped that it just might hit with her pathetic arm strength. A little lightheartedness was always welcome in Thora's world. And while the girl hated to admit it, distraction from the wizarding life and homework, while sometimes with a great price, was always worth it.

Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him well.
The snowman's head collided with the tree trunk, hitting hard and scattering with a weighty thud. His button eyes and handsome grass toupee were sent sailing through the air in different directions. Clumps of said snowman would fall with the impending heap. Upon impact, a tremor shook the tree boughs and- as the Ravenclaw had calculated- shivered them free from their snowy burden. A wet, chilly, thick lump of slush toppled down from the branches. Unless they dodged or deflected it, Thora, Ruthie, and Serena would have an unorthodox retaliation plopping harmlessly (if coldly) on their heads from up above. As Alan charged into the fray and Koko tried to hide, it was perfectly possible that they were caught in the crossfire. Thankfully, this seemed to be all the spell slinging which Pericles intended to cast (for the time being). In the wake of his successful strike, he took a series of hasty back-paces, eyes wide behind his glasses as he waited to see whether or not the snowfall splattered on any underneath it. He shoved his wand hastily into a pocket while preparing to flee or brace for retaliation, glancing to Ruby for direction.

Moderation Post | Snowball Fight | Round One
Hello. This is voice of God Fate. One snowy day on the Hogwarts grounds, a snowball fight broke out. The primary instigator was a young Slytherin, Ruby Cazares. She had attempted to hit an unsuspecting bystander and fellow Slytherin, Thora Larkston with a snowball. However, it seemed the girls were fairly evenly matched and Thora managed to sneak away from the snowball just in time.

This near-hit caught the attention of a Hufflepuff, Serena Davies, who chose to be defensive and shield Thora from the hit. Thankfully, this shield was not needed (see above). Meanwhile Koko Riddle appeared on the scene. As she crafted her own snowball, she also found a hiding place, keen to keep herself safe. Ruthie Greer would take an offensive stance after seeing her friend Thora targeted. She'd hurl a snowball at Ruby, but the Slytherin would evade so effectively, it was nearly perfect.

Meanwhile, Pericles Dralt arrived on the scene, keen to help Ruby since it seemed like everyone was defending Thora. This clever Ravenclaw would unwittingly charm a snowball's head and launch it at a nearby tree. If successfully, it would completely cover the girls (Thora, Serena and Ruthie). As if by some miracle wait I am in charge of those, the girls managed to just barely skirt out of the way in time. But Alan Noble had crafted a giant tennis sized snowball and would also come to Ruby's aid. Unfortunately his aim was not quite as good as Thora's ability to evade.

And then the moment came. Thora would have her comeuppance. Melding together her own snowball, she sent it across to Ruby and by Merlin, it hit her easily! What would follow Thora's hit remains to be seen but I will cause I'm God, I mean Fate.
