Taking a Look - See
Eiran had almost everything he needed for his first day at school. His father had lent him a knapsack which had been charmed so that it could be bottomless, or seemingly so, and he'd been carrying it with him as they'd gone from shop to shop. He'd filled it with every book on his list, three sets of robes (which he didn't think would fit in the narrow opening, but somehow did), and had just popped out of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes with a remembrall in hand. What was left?
"A wand..?" The boy murmured as he walked beside his father. Hearing him, Byron placed his hand on Eiran's shoulder and urged him to slow his quick walking. They stood together outside of the apothecary for a moment. Byron's knees clicked as he sank to his son's level, and he looked at him eye-to-eye while busy parents hurried their children around the two of them. "We can go there next if you like. I have some business over there -" he motioned with a wave of his long fingers at a small nameless shop just a few feet away. How about you pop in here for a little bit? I'll only be a moment."
Eiran smiled and nodded, then watched as his father stood up and moved fluidly through the crowd. The boy on the other hand took a glance at the dried herbs in the window and then slipped towards the door, and within moments was inside the shop. The first thing he noticed was the smell - it was thick, somewhat perfumed, but mostly an airy smell that reminded him of freshly cut grass, or a small barn full of hay. He slipped alongside the wall adjacent to the door, passing his fingers over a few of the more easily recognized potion ingredients, and studied some of the stranger ones; there were piles of purple flowers, vials of silver powder, strange concoctions of assorted sizes - more often they were dry, but as Eiran made his way around the apothecary he found a few glass vials set with strange liquids, a set of large metal scales, and a few dusty boiling pots.

Amelia had insisted on going to Diagon Alley on her own, seeing as she had been there a multitude of times as a very young witch with both of her parents. The magical world has never been a secret to the young lady, having been talked to about magic from her very first signs. The eleven year old came from a wealthy, pureblood family who was very proud of lineage. Although Amelia didn't put much thought into such things, growing up on her large estate had given her many opportunities to grow and flourish into an excellent witch for her age. She was about to be able to prove herself, too, as she had received her acceptance owl into Hogwarts just days ago. The young Lovell couldn't wait any longer to shop for all her school supplies, and had pestered her parents into going until they had finally agreed.
Having arrived in Diagon Alley, the first thing she wanted to do after her wand was go into the apothecary shop. Potions was her father's favorite class growing up at Hogwarts, and to be able to actually purchase her own set of scales and cauldrons was perhaps just as exciting as having her wand choose her. As they approached the apothecary, Amelia's father and mother ran into another family, one of pureblood linage just as they. The little girl within the family they had run into was quite snotty, and Amelia found no interest in speaking to her or her parents. She found most of the community her parents hung around to be boring. Looking up at her mother with her big brown eyes, Amelia asked "May I go into the Apothecary on my own? I know exactly what I'm looking for." For an eleven year old, she was quite sure of herself. Her mother nodded, clearly distracted by the other family, and without hesitation Amelia ran herself into the shop, perhaps swinging open the door a tad too hard.
Thunk.
The door hit the inside of the shop's wall. "Apologies." She spoke out to the shopkeeper who stood behind the counter, giving her a wary look and then going back to doing whatever he had been doing. There was quite a lot to take in, but as always the smell of what Amelia imagined a farm would hit her first. There were different ingredients in jars that lined the walls, in all shapes, sizes and colors. The first year's mind couldn't focus on one thing for too long, as there was too much to look at and her attention span was short for such things. 'Focus, focus on the list...' She thought to herself, snapping out of the daze she was in looking at the bundles of feathers and strings of fangs hanging from a rack near the front of the store. 'You can only be here so long...'
There was a glistening that caught her dark brown gaze, wherein she found the glass vials and also a boy who couldn't have been older than she, standing near that area. Drawing in a sharp breath, boys always made Amelia unnecessarily nervous. She had been an introverted child, and when she did socialize it was mostly with girls her age. Sucking up the courage to head in that direction where the items she needed laid, she stuck one foot in front of the other and managed to get close to the glass vials. Taking a look at the sunlight glittering off of them, Amelia couldn't help but feel a small smile tug at the corner of her lips. "Do you think the crystal ones would be any different than the glass?" Realizing she had asked the boy a question out of nowhere, just blurting it out like she often did, she felt her face go a light pink color. Would he even know what she was talking about? He might just be taking a look around, but he looked like a future Hogwarts student to her.

She walked into the shop, the door swinging closed behind her. Her parents were still in Gringotts for a bit, and she had money to spend. She had always peered at this shop from a distance, never willing to actually go in, mostly because Mum and Dad mostly bought things by owl delivery. The shop was musty, and her new shiny shoes became dusty. She walked along the aisles, taking note of what she saw. As she walked towards the very back she saw an even dustier item, in a glass box that was so filthy tht you had to clean it with your sleeve to get a good look at what was inside. She looked closer at the label, wiping it clean with her blue and gray handkerchief. Dragon Heartstring? Cool she thought. She walked back towards the front, only to hear a girl ask "Do you think the crystal ones would be any different than the glass?" She hurried over. What an opportunity to meet other prospective students! "Glass vials are more transparent, as you can see here" She pointed to the vial, making the boy step back. "Crystal vials superior break resistance though and a low risk of chemical interactions, delamination, and particulates." She looked the vials once more and then back at the girl. "Mia Alexander, Pure-blood, Future Slytherin. Glad to help. Sorry if that was rude." Mia then took a step back and then grabbedtwo crystal vials and brought them to the counter. Ugh she thought, Was that too much?
